Was there last night for dinner and it was horrible. Food was cold not seasoned it was not good at all. I've been there a number of times but was totally disappointed last night. We wanted to have a nice family dinner, and had not been to this area for a while. We had a coupon in the entertainment book for La Casa Blanca so we thought we would give it a try. We were greeted and promptly seated and within moments a server came to take the drink orders, the chips and salsa were served (the salsa is amazing). I ordered the carnitas plate and was very satisfied. The flavor was good and the meat tender and not greasy and the rice and beans served with it were very good. ( I had left overs and it all reheated very nicely the next day and as we all know that's the true test) The rest of the group ordered various items such as fish taco's and enchiladas, the serving size was generous. The customer service was very good. I look forward to going back and bringing friends, next time I will try the margaritas. read more

Been looking for a place to replace my beloved Casa Del Sol that closed recently. Chips and salsa were good, I asked for something spicy and the nice young man brought over another salsa that had a good kick and solid flavor but it wasnt enough to help the totally bland chicken enchiladas. It was all kind of...meh, but then the cute little older lady came over and just said "tortilla?" and placed a fresh made corn tortilla with some butter on my table...um, yes please! I've found my new fav place to eat. Tried this place on a whim using a Living Social voucher. Great service! The waiters here are so friendly and hilarious. Both times I went was on a Friday evening. Once with just my boyfriend and then came back with the whole family because we were so impressed. The food is amazing! Fresh made tortillas brought straight to your table while you wait. I drive by here everyday for work and thought it'd be great to check out this Lil restaurant. The ONLY good thing about this place were the fresh corn tortillas! Like little morsels melting in my mouth. Other than that, the food was bland. I had some sort of shrimp in white sauce and it was bland worth a bad after taste. My husband said it tasted like the white wine didn't cook out. The ambiance is on the dry side. It would have been nice to have some Mexican music playing in the background. Plus, it was extremely warm. I was so grateful whenever people walked in the front door, the gust of cold air was such a relief. Doubt I'll ever go back again. We've eaten here before & usually pleasant. Tonight a different story...and too many restaurants around to waste our money here again. Ordered a margarita. Was the wateriest blah tasting one I have ever had. Was busy when we first got there, but emptied out fast. Could not seem to have the attention of our waitress except for asking for extra salsa. Someone else brought our food, someone else had to bring for the water we ordered with the meal (after we were done eating), someone else had to bring our check and a to go box, and we had to finally flag someone else again to pick up the credit card to pay the bill. Wish I could find more to like about this cute little restaurant. Although the service was good and the ambiance is charming, the food was mediocre at best-- and we've given it several chances. The first visit I tried the scallops, "Grandpa's Favorite." Guess Grandma wasn't much of a cook--the scallops were small and salty in a watery sauce. The carne asade, although tasty, was tough. Even their simple combination platters seemed bland and uninspired. So who want's seconds? Sorry, not me. On a happier note they also own a second location, Hacienda Casa Blanca on Johnson Ave. at Arnele in El Cajon where the old Antonio's Hacienda used to be. This is one of our favorite Mexican restaurants in San Diego. They are always wonderful to my 89 year old dad who has dementia, they are so accommodating and friendly and always remember his order. The food is incredible with prices are great and the staff is so friendly. The music is wonderful too. We will continue coming as long as we live in San Diego County. read more

Didn't even have a chance to try the food because even though the restaurant said they were open (mind you, there were more then a handful of people that were sitting down eating) the man working there turned me away after looking stressed as if he was too busy to serve me a to go order. He told me to wait a minute and had me sitting there for a few minutes but then told me he was closed. He was extremely rude and just lost my business in the future. We have experienced nice meals in La Casa Blanca before, but this last visit had us shaking our heads and wondering if we would return. We went here with some out-of-town friends over the holidays, and we were embarrassed with our experience. First, they got two of our orders wrong. How do you mess up a basic taco/enchilada plate? The kitchen hastily sent out the right orders, but the plates were cool and the tortillas on the enchiladas were tough. It did not look like their usual presentation. I reached for my fork, but it was dirty, with baked on sauce of some kind that had never been properly cleaned. We had a different server that we had never seen there before; she never re-filled our water classes during the entire meal. Because we were with friends, we let all this this slide. We live in the area and like to support local businesses so we will give La Casa Blanca a break and but will wait a while before going back. I hope their service improves. read more

Came here when they first opened, still the same great place. I ordered shrimp fajitas ( most expensive of the fajita meals) and although it was very good, the shrimp we're rather small and only 6 maybe 7. It is a shame that some of the persons who reviewed La Casa Blanca had an unfortuneate and disappointing experience. We have been coming to this restaurant at least once a month for several years and we have never been disappointed. The food is always just right. If not they will take it back and redo it. We have never had that happen. My favorite is the #10 chicken enchiladas. My wife's favorite in the Carnitas. The service is outstanding. Herman and Lorena always take good care of us and all the diners. It was sad to lose Cesar with his wit and sense of humor. We will keep going back. We've lived in the neighborhood for a couple years but for some reason hadn't tried this place until last night. This is our family's new go to spot for Mexican food. I like the look and feel inside the restaurant and all the servers went out of their way to make the environment welcoming. Its the little things like the delicious salsa with chips or watching the corn tortillas being made fresh and being brought up to the table warm as soon as they were finished. I've been a customer of this lovely restaurant for years. This morning, I went to enjoy their buffet brunch which is every Mexican food lover's dream. We were told to seat ourselves and was attended to after a short couple of minutes. We were told our drinks would be out shortly and we would be served hand made tortillas {my favorite} soon. We served ourselves our favorite foods from the buffet. The food was good but our tortillas never came. As new customers came in and were served within minutes of ordering, I grew increasingly frustrated as we tried to get her attention multiple times and she completely ignored us. Very disappointed as our server didn't check in with us throughout our meal, the tortilla lady ignored us and felt our overall experience unpleasant. read more

Uh let's see, horrible service. Waitress was not the normal girl who takes the left of the restaurant. Asked for napkins 3x, asked for silverware 2x ordered chicken and got steak. Waitress never checked on us until the food was gone from the plates. I recently moved a 5-minute walk away from this place and had been looking forward to walking over for lunch. The walk was really nice :-) However I agree with some of the other reviewers, the food is pretty bland. I got the scallops. I prefer small seared scallops and these were the large ones, but they WERE fully cooked and did not taste fishy, and there were lots of them. The service sucked, even though everyone was very friendly. Changing cast of characters, I sat for about 15 minutes waiting for someone to take my order (maybe they assumed I would eventually get up and go to the buffet?!), no one checked to see how things weregoing the whole time, no iced tea refill, and I had to flag someone down for tghe check 10 miinutes AFTER they brought a box for my leftover rice. So, I WISH I loved this place but I don't. I may walk back for lunch again anyway, just because it is so convenient. read more

When we arrived, we were greeted in a friendly manner and the chips and salsa were very good. We ordered and patiently waited for our food. About 5 other parties came after us in about 5-10 minutes between each party. As we waited for our food, the other parties in the restaurant ordered and got their food before us. It took 45 minutes for us to get our food, once we asked why it took so long for us to get our order (appetizers and a burrito). I can't help but feel that they purposely took so long on our order because we had a LivingSocial deal. We felt miffed as we watched 5 other orders get their food before us...when they were seated/ordered after us. Our order wasn't that great either. But maybe the long wait affected how we felt about the food. Waiting 45 minutes for average food is not worth it when we can go to a taco shop that is the same quality or even better for less and at a faster rate. The waiters were nice enough. But my time is precious and waiting 45 minutes for that kind of food and being tortured by watching 5 other groups get their food before us is not worth it. Been here once, tried the super combo with a little bit of everything and nothing realy impressed me. The ranchero sauce was good, but it was on everything and made every aspect of the dish taste the same. Large portions which is a plus, but the service is patheticaly slow, even for a slow night I think I only had my water glass filled once and I couldn't flag down the waiter for the life of me. All in all it was just an ok restaurant... You can get the same quality food and service for 1/4 the price at any taco shop in East County... I gave it a chance but, sorry, this place doesnt compare to Don Primo's which occupied this location years ago... I still miss their band "Salpicar" they were damn good! read more
