I was pleasantly surprised with the breakfast I had from this new Mexican eatery in Lakeside, CA. The best part, it is really owned by three local brothers raised in Lakeside, a suburb of San Diego, CA, They offer a variety of breakfast items, including chilaquiles, breakfast burritos, and breakfast tacos, which I ordered. In fact, I ordered two chorizo and eggs breakfast tacos at $5 a piece. The chorizo was of the pork variety and was quite good. The tacos came with savory chorizo mixed with eggs, shredded Jack Cheese, red onions, and a garnish of cilantro and cotija cheese. They were delicious to eat. I really liked the way they prepared the corn tortillas on the hot griddle. They added a little bit of the juice coming from the cooking of the chorizo to the tortilla while on the hot griddle. As a result, the tortillas had a great color and added texture. Nice call. The place offers bar like seating along the walls and window. They plan to extend the restaurant to the building next time in the future to offer sit down seating and beer and wine. The service was super friendly and welcoming. Oh yes, I forgot to mention! Do try their carne asada. I was given a taster and it's fantastic. They use inside skirt steak also known as arrachera in Spanish, and it's prepared on an open flame. THESE GUYS ARE LEGIT AF! Their ingredients are so fresh it's nice to see a taco spot that takes their craft seriously. I haven't had guacamole that tastes this good in a long time. If you're coming here for the first time, I HIGHLY recommend the smoked tri-tip burrito, the flavor profiles are absolutely out of this world, hands down the best burrito I've ever eaten, kid you not! I finally tried Tres Hermanos Locos Tacos and honestly... this might be the best taco shop I've ever been to. I ordered the California burrito and it was unreal. The carne asada was perfectly cooked--super flavorful, tender, and you can tell they actually marinate their own meat. That alone sets them apart. The fries inside were still crispy (which almost never happens), and everything was balanced perfectly--not overly greasy, just straight quality. You can really taste the difference here. Fresh ingredients, solid portions, and attention to detail in every bite. The staff was also super friendly and the service was quick, even when it was busy. Family establishment run by brothers who are brave enough to compete in a tough market and in my opinion they're crushing it! I ordered the adobada burrito and I hope they don't change a thing about it. The shredded beef rolled tacos were absolutely fantastic and the California burrito is easily Top-5 on my all-time list, which is saying a lot for San Diego County. I doubt you'll find friendlier customer service anywhere in Lakeside. I'm definitely coming back to try their other items and I'm excited to try their breakfast burritos. Highly recommend Tres Hermanos to all who love a good burrito. Sure, the establishment is a bit small, but they're just starting out and what they lack in diner space they more than make up for in quality products and service. It pains me to say it, but the cooks do not pay attention to the tickets and whoever packs the food doesn't check it. The cashiers are super friendly, and my husband and I have ordered 3 times now to be able to say only once have they gotten our order right. The other two times there have been missing ingredients or requests not followed. The first time we ordered carne asada fries and chilaquiles, the chilaquiles were missing the pickled onion that is listed on the menu item and was specifically requested (pregnancy cravings). The second time I ordered pollo asado chips with beans, no problems or complaints. The third time we ordered carne asada chips with cheese/sour cream on side and a taco with no cheese, the chips did have the cheese on the side AND in the chips...and the taco had cheese on it too. It sucks because the quality of the food is amazing! But it's too discouraging to order when they don't pay attention to detail. We may not return. read more

We tried this place a few nights ago. We ordered rolled tacos, a combo plate with rolled tacos, rice and beans, an adobada burrito, carne asada street tacos and cheese quesadilla. The cheese quesadilla was the only thing we all liked, it was very tasty. The rolled tacos tasted like they were fried in rancid oil, and there was very little guacamole on them. The adobada burrito was cold and meat chewy. The carne asada was chewy and tasted like there was no seasoning whatsoever on it. The rice tasted like the ones you buy at Costco that come in plastic bags. Sorry to say we will not go back. It's too bad. read more

A lot of mixed reviews, therefore I decided to give it a try to form my own opinion. Unfortunately, the bad reviews were very spot on. I am not sure why there is a review stating it's the best in east county. I personally would say it could possibly be at the very bottom. The chicken, carne asada, guac and shrimp all had no flavor. The "spiciest" sauce they had did not taste like anything. The chicken was a bit burnt and looked like carne asada. On top of it, the surf and turf fries stated they went with sour cream and no sour cream was added. They left the sour cream out and added rice to it. I personally will not be ordering food here again. I really wanted to love it since I live closest to this spot than I do to others. Very disappointing food. read more

We just visited recently and, unfortunately, the food was really disappointing. We ordered the carnitas, carne asada, and chicken street tacos. The guacamole was dark brown, the meats lacked seasoning, and the carnitas weren't shredded--just large, fatty chunks. Couldn't even finish the chicken and carnitas tacos because the taste was awful. The rice tasted like it had been sitting in the fridge--dry and very hard. We spent $40 and sadly won't be returning. We decided to try this place based on the great reviews, so it was a real letdown. read more

Friendly greeting and help from the cashier was almost the only good thing about this place. There was an unpleasant smell upon entry but didn't have time to drive home to eat our dinner, so we ate it at the hi-top counter/shelf. My carnitas plate was dripping with grease, unseasoned and the amount of meat was probably equal to 1 1/2 street tacos. The rice had overcooked dry clumps in it but the beans were good. The price of my carnitas plate was not appropriate for what I received. My wife's 3 street tacos were a good value for the price. We wanted to support local but I cannot give a good review when it's not earned. I hope they can get this turned around. read more

I was pleasantly surprised at how good the Cole's bowl was it's not on the menu yet but I heard from a friend to try it out. It is a perfect mix of protein and vegetables and beans and rice.
