    Macha Breakfast Plate
    Jack M.

I enjoyed a great breakfast plate of Machaca from this Mexican eatery in Casa de Oro, located in Spring Valley. It use to be La Baja Mexican Grill, and has been rebranded as "Los Mexas." The machaca breakfast plate came with rice, beans, and four corn tortillas for $11.99 plus tax. It was a large portion of machaca and it was very tasty. The stewed shredded beef was well seasoned. The eggs were scrambled into the beef and I could not help my self to making breakfast tacos. I tried a trio of hot sauces and they were all very good. I liked the dark red one the best It had good heat and favor. The rice and beans were good, too but were more subtle in flavor. The beans were light in seasoning and the rice was just right. The service was good. It was a one man team when I came in the morning, but the young man made it work. He was friendly, efficient, and check on me to make sure I enjoyed the food. The place offers a bar as well with plenty of inside seating, but no outside seating.

When I came in during a weekday, I will admit, it was empty. However, ordering was so simple and very quick! They have a nice open bar on the left side when you walk in, which looks like it would be completely full when there's a game on! I was pleasantly happy when I talked with the guy at the front because when I picked up my food, he asked if it was my first time there. I confirmed and had said that I heard great things about this place - which was true, especially just by looking at the reviews! Because of this, the cashier gave me one of the desserts as complimentary! It was delicious - almost like a churro but in chip form! I ordered the adobada and birria tacos as well as the cheese quesadilla! The adobada tacos were pretty good - I've been trying to find something similar to the ones at tacos el gordo, and can say that they're a bit similar especially with the sauce it has on top. Birria tacos were pretty good according to my dad - they were very filling and the birria sauce to dip the tacos in was pretty flavorful! Cheese quesadilla was just as simple as they can be, nothing really to rave for with this one. Overall, I would come back and maybe try some of the other popular items I see on this page! :)

The fish taco was amazing. Very delicious and fresh tasting from the sauce and the cabbage. The fish had a nice crunch and neutral taste. I enjoyed the flavor of the 3 fresh house salsas. The green one was savory, the red was a savory spicy, and the orange one for an acidic spice. We also got the adobada burrito. It was huge for just $11.99! Meat, guacamole, onions, (and cilantro). No extra fillers. The adobada was nicely charred and sweet. It reminded me a bit of char siu compared to other places I've had adobada. We only interacted with our cashier during our time there, and he was friendly and helpful. The dining area and restroom were both very clean and there are a lot of open tables for seating. The prices here are great and you get a lot in return. The taco is $4.99 on regular days, but only $1.50 on Tuesdays. I'll be coming back to take advantage of that and trying more of their meats.

Ordered the machaca breakfast burrito and it was delicious! I love coming here for their burritos. I found this place randomly and i'm so glad I decided to give it a try. My boyfriend had their machaca burrito as well and he enjoyed it along with their salsa selections. I also tried something new on my most recent visit which was the menudo soup. I loved the meat, but the soup wasn't so flavorful in my opinion. The restaurant is spacious and always plenty of seating when i've come by. The service could be a little better in terms of being more welcoming as you walk in though. Overall, great breakfast burrito joint!

Great local business. Staff is super friendly. The adobada, birria, and pollo asada are on-point! Not listed on the menu board, but you can get 3 street tacos for $8.50. Great deal. Breakfast burritos are huge. Nice little dining area for lunch!

If you like tacos, come here period exclamation point period. Had a trio (carne, carnitas, adobada) my first time. Incredible. Couldn't decide which was best. They bring you a trio of these little house made hot sauce bottles that are each some of the best sauces I've ever had. Second time I got all adobada ($1.50 special, I'm cheap‍), top 5 I've ever had. Today I got a fish and again it was one of the best fish tacos I've ever had. The staff is SUPER friendly and hospitable. Trust me, just come in and get a taco, doesn't matter which one, you will buy another immediately.

Food is delicious. Service is great, great ambience. I've tried almost everything here, from menudo, caldo de res, roll tacos, carne asada fries, burritos, fajitas, you name it, I've tried it. Micheladas, amazing! You cannot go wrong with this place. You will love it. I guarantee it.

Great spot! The inside is really nice and inviting. We didn't try any drinks this time, but the bar area looked great--perfect setup with TVs for watching sports. The food was excellent! We had a carne asada burrito and a bean & cheese burrito--both were delicious, super generous portions, and the prices were very reasonable. Loved that it came with chips and salsa too. Definitely want to come back for Taco Tuesday!

Really great little gem. Nice interior, delicious food, even a fun little bar with good prices and frozen beer mugs. Staff were friendly and inviting. Good salsa and hot sauces.

As usual, i stumbled upon a Tiktok video of a young gentleman who got the crispy beef and salt & pepper shrimp! OMG... I just had to try the shrimp. They didn't have shells so I thought, perfect. Even better. I can pop them in my mouth easily lol. We arrived close to noon on a Saturday. Appeared busy with to go orders being prepped and customers eating but the workers were attentive any way with seating us. There is even outdoor seating, perfect if you want to bring your furbaby. We also were given a small bowl of wonton chips on the house to start. That was nice :) Service was definitely 5/5 for me. The young worker with the glasses was very nice and was quick with everything. I loved that she had the customer's best interest. Without her, we wouldn't have known that we can do the lunch special (I assumed because it was a Saturday, that we couldn't), or that an item not listed on the lunch special menu was included, or that we can sub an additional eggroll for the soup. As if her customer service wasn't already top tier, the girl is fluent in Spanish! We were shocked, but honestly, great to know for those who only speak Spanish, she's got you :) I also wanted to mention that there was somebody's kid hanging out but I thought it was the sweetest thing how he would grab candy from the front and gave them to customers when they were seated. There menu is big! Lots to choose from. We just ordered off their lunch special menu. I actually do not know the time frame for the lunch menu but we came on a Saturday. It was nice that they offered their lunch menu on the weekend. Currently, their lunch special is priced at $14.95. Comes with your choice of Egg Flower Soup or Hot & Sour Soup, Steamed rice or Fried Rice, and an egg roll. However, if you do not want soup, ask for an extra egg roll :) We tried both soups, both were good. Even topped off the soups with the wonton chips they give you. Anyways our order was: Orange Chicken, Salt and Pepper Shrimp, and Crispy Beef for the lunch special. Crispy Beef was NOT listed on the lunch special menu however, since I was just going to order an entree of it, the nice waitress asked if we would like it as a the lunch special. Yes, since you cannot beat the price for the amount of food you get. EVERYTHING WAS DELICIOUS! I will say, though the S&P shrimp is delicious, it leans more on the saltier side. But, your girl will order this over and over as long as I have a good amount of water. I love the flavor regardless, and it is crispy. The crispy beef was crispy and delicious too; great flavor on it. The orange chicken, was exactly how it should be. Order it if that is your go to Chinese food order. Eggrolls were just veggie rolls but honestly, not bad. Perfect veggie rolls actually. I would order these items again. Bottom line, this is now my favorite Chinese restaurant. Lunch Special is the way to go, amazing price. Amazing food. I will be back and I want to try more items off the menu!

A quick tip on the menu design, though: it's a bright pink layout with items grouped together by price going across. The way the items are framed inside a bubble makes it look like a sampler where you get everything listed for that price. It's just a design choice, but I'd definitely recommend updating it to avoid confusion! As for the food, I assumed the Brussels sprouts would be halved, crispy, and tossed in sauce. Instead, they were served whole, boiled or steamed, and then gently stir-fried in a lot of sauce. They turned out pretty mushy, which isn't how I usually prefer them. I love Brussels sprouts, but I definitely prefer the crispy version, so I wouldn't order these again. On the bright side, we absolutely enjoyed our sushi rolls! We stood outside looking a little silly before realizing you just can't see inside because the windows are completely blacked out. It's also a bit dark on the inside, and there were a few annoying gnats flying around. Overall, great sushi and service, and with a few minor adjustments, this place could be even better!
