Fresh oysters (back), fish taco (front right), Al pastor taco (front left)
    Selena L.

Came here on a whim for happy hour. I was sold on the $1.50 oysters. They have an extensive happy hour menu which I appreciate. For oysters, the minimum order is 4 and it came with a chili pineapple mignonette and chile pasilla sauce which was very different, but the pineapple added a nice refreshing touch to the oysters. I could've done without the chile pasilla sauce. I also got tacos, and I was able to mix and match the tacos despite the menu only having sets of two of the same type of tacos. I ended up getting one fish taco and one al pastor taco. The tacos were average, nothing I would rave about, but 2 tacos for $5-6 is unbeatable. The bottom of the menu says 3% surcharge on credit card fees. The restaurant should be more clear that this also includes debit cards, not just credit cards. In addition, the website did not have the happy hour menu posted despite the hours of happy hour being on the website.

This restaurant was a great find for my new favorite Happy Hour place! They have an extensive HH menu that at first I thought it was the regular menu but it was the HH menu! Loved the open air vibe with friendly wait staff. I did have to flag down the waiter a few times though. What I had- Flautas de Atun Ahumado - Love the sauce, the smokiness of the tuna & the crisp of taco. Aguachile - Loved this colorful and fresh dish. Looks like a lot but this was doable with two people. Mini Hamburguesas de Wagyu - Juicy and super flavorful. I wasn't going to get this but glad I did. Carne asada tacos - Flavorful and delicious. I liked the seasoning on the meat. Brussel Sprouts - Interesting spin on this app. Prefer this to be more crispy. It wasn't my favorite app to be honest. Definitely a place to come back to again and again due to its extensive menu. I also liked that there was plenty of seating for happy hour.

It's our first experience at Hacienda Cazadores! I can't say enough good about the food here. We sat outside and our waiter. He was right there within three minutes. He was cheerful. The ambience was beautiful sunset style dining. It is a little loud but then again it is weekend. It is a little on the pricey side but very well worth it. We are definitely going back. La Mesa is all decorated for the 250th America celebration. It is so so beautiful and elegant.

I've been wanting to visit Hacienda Cazadores for a while now. We decided to visit today for my birthday dinner.... It was extra special because our soldier is home visiting us. As soon as we walked in, we were amazed by all the beautiful decor. The music playing in the background was a very nice touch. This is a beautiful restaurant with great vibes. Our server Ivan provided exceptional service.... He was super attentive and gave us great suggestions. So many great menu options. What we ordered: * Queso Fundido * Pulpo Zarandeado * Alambre Suizo * Parrillada Sonora * Canelita x2 * La Sombra * BONUS birthday chocoflan Everything we had was AMAZING!! We can't wait to go back to try their other menu options. This is a must try restaurant!! So grateful for this memorable birthday dinner..... They've earned a few extra loyal customers. This restaurant will most definitely be on our rotation!!

We decided to try this place out for breakfast and Tania and Mike were our servers. They are super sweet, offered recommendations and brought our food out quickly. The food was delicious!! We got the two molcajetes they offer for breakfast, the kids quesadilla with rice, and the burger with fries. Portion sizes were generous but most important SO good, all of it! For drinks we got OJ, passion fruit mimosa, Mexican coffee (has alcohol), and the cafe de olla. They also had a great playlist going on. We will definitely be back! Oh and they even brought out a slice of their coconut cake for us to try. So good!

Everything was SO GOOD! I went with the enchiladas mariscos and I came with a bunch of snow crab legs. I ordered the side of beans and the churros also. I'll for sure be back. Juan at the bar is super attentive and makes the best recommendations.

Hacienda Cazadores was a great experience! The interior decor is absolutely beautiful, with indoor, upstairs, and patio seating. Every last detail of the decor was fantastic, including the beautiful tower work, cowboy hats on the walls, and the open kitchen design. The staff was extremely attentive, checking on us inappropriate intervals and did not Tang job in making sure our experience was top-notch. One standout item that was a surprise was their corn tortillas! I am typically not a corn tortilla gal, but I would eat these plain all day long. Their salsas are also absolutely worth trying, and their guac came in a very generous portion. Everything we had was great, and there's still many more dishes. I would like to try. Definitely give this place a try if you're looking to have an elevated Mexican food experience!

As a local community member I decided to give place a shot for dinner! Its in the center of downtown La Mesa so there is plenty of street parking. The restaurant has a cool atmosphere and art throughout. There is music playing in the background but it was just low. Overall my experience here was not the greatest... I was disappointed with the customer service and quality of food. Our server was Cesar A. was not the greatest. He felt so pushy to speak to my party in Spanish. What a horrible sensation and assumption to make. He came maybe a total of 3-4 times to my table. We did not have utensils when our food served so I had to get some from another table because he did not check up on us. We also had to ask our food runner to bring us water as our cups were empty. The food arrived and I noticed my burger was rare: I was never asked how I wanted my meat cooked. I saw on the tab at the end he put medium rare for my meat. In addition, they charge an extra 3% to use credit card to off set processing costs... overall this place did not have the great experience. My favorite dish was the aguachile for sure, although it was a warm when its served cold.

We're giving Hacienda Cazadores a 4/5. From the moment we arrived, we loved the atmosphere. Since it was such a beautiful day, we chose to sit on the patio, and it made for a great dining experience. The food was excellent. We started with the tuna tostadas, and the combination of fresh tuna and sweet mango was absolutely delicious. We also ordered a café de olla, which was one of the highlights of the meal--the warm spices in the coffee were perfectly balanced and full of flavor. For our entrées, we had the chicken tacos with sides and the enchiladas sonorenses, and both dishes were just as impressive. The only reason we're not giving Hacienda Cazadores a perfect 5/5 is because of the service. Our server appeared to be fairly new, which we completely understand, but they weren't very attentive throughout our meal. One of our coffees arrived cold, and we waited quite a while to get the check. Thankfully, another server stepped in and provided excellent service, which really helped end the experience on a positive note. Overall, the food and atmosphere were outstanding, and we would definitely come back.

This place exceeded my expectations! We came on a Friday during the farmers market and were able to be seated outside. I'm not sure if that is always the case so may need to look in to reservations as it was fairly busy? We got margaritas that were fresh and delicious. They have a full bar and a great menu of different types of margaritas. I HIGHLY recommend the octopus as an appetizer if that's your vibe. It's cooked perfectly and charted really nice with such a good aioli. The tacos arrechaera has a delicious thick blue corn tortilla with bone marrow that was so good! The tacos were thick and very filling. Everything we had here was delicious! Highly recommend

Came by to check this out with a friend. Upon arrival we were greeted and seated in the bar area. They were both super busy yet. The new renovations is what brought us in here. I ordered a mocktail Nieve de Fresca. It was a bit too tart for me. It was described as sweet and it's far from that. Same goes for the jardin de carolta. For food I ordered the sopes de carmaron flavor was there for sure. Service was ok. The waiter started out good but as it got busy took a bit to get his attention. Prices are as expected they just opened and made it a more upscale restaurant. Street Parking with meters unless you go into the neighborhood. They also only have one restroom which isn't ideal for both men and women. Overall it's was ok nothing stands out to me.

    Perfect surprise for any celebration.

Not only was all the food amazing, but the portions were generous and made for some great leftovers. My parents were in town so we were out to dinner together and we all got different dishes and each one was better than the next. The quesadilla was probably the best thing we had. Our server was attentive and quick while still giving time to be friendly. When they were out of a couple items for the drinks we wanted, she was ready with alternatives and always offered to at least double check in case there was something they could do. My dad even got a little preview of a new version of their Old Fashioned since they were in the process of phasing out the old one and were out of one of the ingredients.

It came with a yummy almond galleta dusted with powdered sugar. The coffee was perfect. I dipped my cookie in my coffee and truly it was the perfect bite plus perfect treat as I waited for my food because I was HUNGRY! Our food took a while to arrive it was a Saturday morning at brunch but it wasn't crowded. The wait was the kind of wait you do where you look at the tables around you to see who has food and who doesn't and wonder what was the seating order of the folks around you and if they got their food before you and why. So when my food arrived I was sooooo ready! I ordered the chorizo and crispy potatoes burrito. It looked great when it arrived! I strategically cut my burrito about a quarter of the way in. I knew I would at least eat a quarter but I knew I definitely wouldn't eat the whole thing and I didn't want to waste a perfectly good bite on all tortilla. I cut my burrito and put a bite on my fork and as I put my food in my mouth I looked down and find a long curly hair. To say I was disappointed was an understatement. I was disappointed for several reasons. 1. The bite I took was all egg and tortilla. No cheese no chorizo no potato. 2. I was starving! And 3. I knew I wasn't going to have anything to eat until after the other two people I was with finished eating and I could go somewhere else to get food. I didn't let it damper my mood. I showed the waiter who was very apologetic and took my plate away. When he walked away. It hit me I didn't tell him to not bring me anything else because I was going to eat a remade burrito. So I got his attention because I didn't want them to waste anymore food. Here is what I will say. To replace my food, I was given a pastry platter that was AMAZINGLY good! The concha was legit the best I've ever eaten. The banana bread was delicious with delicious toasted pecans which added a caramelized texture to the banana bread! No joke, it was so good. What I will also say is that I was visited with no less than 3 people including Gabriela herself who was absolutely apologetic about my experience and assured me it wouldn't happen again. What's also nice is that I wasn't charged for the food I ate which believe it or not has happened to me before MANY years ago. My peeps whom I was with absolutely loved their food. One had the Sopes and the other had the huevos rancheros. So while I have to be honest about my review, I really think this was a one off mistake and at the very least I would highly suggest ordering cafecito and pastries from Casa Gabriela!

I've also heard rave reviews from family and friends. Since we were suit shopping at Fashion Valley and were hanging out with my son and his girlfriend, I recommended that we eat at Chuy's for lunch. If you're a fan of value for your money and tasty Mexican food, I definitely recommend dining here. 4.5 stars for sure, but I'm glad our go to Mexican food spot, Yesenia's, is closer to us and we can visit there for amazing Mexican food as well. Chuy's Taco Shop is located in Rolando, which is close to El Cajon Blvd. and the San Diego State University area. The easiest way to get here would be the 8 freeway east or west, exiting off of 70th Street, and heading south. The taco shop is located within a small strip mall where you can find Ben & Esther's Vegan Jewish Deli, San Diego Blenders Smoothies, and Moxie Theatre. It's across the street from a tire shop. From the outside, it looks like a typical local San Diego Mexican fast food joint, but you can immediately tell that the owners are proud of their accolades displaying Guy Fieri's DDD mug and Yelp's 2025 Top 100 Places To Eat distinction on its front glass window. As you step inside, you'll see several homages to Guy Fieri of DDD fame with a framed signed picture, another framed signed pic with Guy's caricature, and one of their televisions showing the DDD episode featuring Chuy's. There's a good amount of tables and chairs to dine in, several televisions, distressed laminate wood flooring, and accolades hanging on their walls that the restaurant has garnered. Friendly and professional customer service from the lady behind the register, who also doubled as our server. Not sure anything can be done about this, but flies also liked Chuy's food as we had to keep fanning our food. I've been blessed to eat at several DDD restaurants throughout California, Nevada, and Arizona and I have enjoyed every single one I dined at. Having eaten at Chuy's Taco Shop for the first time, I understand why Guy Fieri did a segment here. What I really appreciated about Chuy's was their value for your money. When you dine here, be prepared for large portions, so definitely come hungry. Whenever I eat at any Mexican fast food spot, I order the same go to items that my family and I order at our favorite restaurant Yesenia's. Since I was breaking bread with my wife, son, and his girlfriend, we ordered the following: two carne asada burritos; five rolled tacos with cheese, guacamole, and lettuce; full order carne asada chips; half order of carne asada fries; and a pineapple agua fresca. I wanted to compare what we typically order from Yesenia's. When you eat at Chuy's, the amount of food you get will feed an army. I didn't expect the carne asada burritos to be the length of my forearm. I got to eat some of my son's and it was delicious and satisfying. The star of our meal were the rolled tacos. It was stuffed full with tasty beef, crunchy, and its components were memorable. We barely touched the carne asada chips because we ordered too much, but they aren't stingy with their carne asada both for the chips and their fries. The half order of carne asada fries were plenty and I enjoyed that dish. The pineapple drink was refreshing and helped beat the toasty weather. I still feel Yesenia's is better quality, but for the amount of food at Chuy's, it's a must visit Mexican restaurant. I'm glad I got to finally experience Chuy's Taco Shop and check off another Guy Fieri featured DDD restaurant. If I'm in the area, I will definitely stop by to try their other menu items, but I'm glad our fave Mexican fast food spot is closer to us to satisfy our Mexican food cravings.

The ambience is your typical home-in-the-wall kind of place...clean, comfortable, but minimalist. I'd rather go to a place like this where the primary focus is the food.

Tonight, the same employee again said it was cash only and that the machine was down when I asked why this happens on certain nights. However, he later proceeded to let me pay with a card, which made the situation feel inconsistent and unclear. I recommend being cautious and double-checking your total, especially if paying in cash. Walking into Panchos, you are immediately greeted by a bright, colorful and welcoming scene. It gives you the feeling of walking into your tía's favorite old school restaurant. The tables and benches are dark wood. And there is papel picado hanging. It's charming. You get the feeling that Panchos has been around for decades. Apparently, the restaurant has been open here since 2004. And the real star? Our server, whose name I cannot recall. He was equal parts waiter and comedian, a very kind man who was highly attentive and extremely helpful. If you like spicy salsa, be sure to tell him to bring you the good stuff from the back (after he offers you bland Tapatio). The menu is absolutely massive. They have breakfast burritos, breakfast plates, chips and fries, shrimp plates, soups (check with the team about offerings, like caldo de res), tortas, quesadillas and a kid's menu and more. I highly recommend the cheese enchiladas and the chile relleno. The chile relleno is especially good. It isn't your soggy, cafeteria-style relleno drowned in red sauce and regret. It is the best comfort food, and Panchos does it well. There is a generous melt of Oaxacan cheese, the batter is very light without being greasy. And then there was the ranchero sauce! Tangy tomatoes, a hint of garlic, and a tiny bit of chili. So very good. Also popular on the menu is a pitcher of margaritas, which you should plan on sharing with three others. The mango margarita is also quite nice. And they also have a Baileys & Coffee. And you can easily get a delicious, filling meal for $20 or less. All around, a great place.
