We applied for an apartment. Went to view it, applied shortly after and was told it will take about 3-10 business days for review. I just received news that apartment was delisted on StreetEasy, NOT RENTED. It's disappointing that the company never gave me any updates regarding my application status in these past couple of weeks. Not to mention, I'm sure they collected dozens, if not hundreds of 20 dollar application fees too, as well as the private information of all the tenants who applied for the apartment. I was contacting someone from the agency back and forth until I applied to 160 Vermilyea Ave Apt #A. Its been more than a week since I applied. I was informed that the landlord has not reviewed applications yet and then Suddenly they stopped responding. It wasn't until I texted them and told them I was going to give them a bad review on google that they texted me back and told me they were going to refund me the application fee. Finders.nyc used an automated system once you call. They send a text soon after asking 'how can we be of help' and down the rabbit hole it goes. I have a voucher, and once I mentioned I did I'd get a message saying 'To our knowledge, all of our landlords work with vouchers & programs. Let us confirm that and get back to you. Have a great day!' and never get a response back, even with repeat texts/calls. read more

I'm not sure what finders.nyc's business model is, but I don't think it's finding people apartments. Communication is sketchy, run through a couple dispatchers who inevitably refer you to Melanie, who tends to forget who you are and refer you back to the dispatchers. The whole operation, Melanie especially, seem really averse to putting anything in writing, which is a red flag. Emails, when you can cajole anyone into sending them, come from a generic unsigned address. Feels like they're trying to avoid a paper trail. In person, Melanie was friendly enough and showed me several rather nice units at a good price. I applied for one. Then I got no response for over a week. I thought maybe the credit check was taking too long due to COVID. Called the credit check agency, nope, it had been processed immediately. After a couple more days of Melanie not responding to my texts and calls, I called the main office and left a message on their "If you're a landlord and want to rent with us" number, after which Melanie did text back. She said the landlord was taking forever getting back to them, and that they were checking with them on a daily basis. That was the last I ever heard from Melanie, despite further texts. No rejection, no explanation, nothing. I don't know if they're overwhelmed, incompetent, lying, a scam, or just don't care about lower-rent apartments. And I really don't care to try to find out which it is. Though now I feel like I have to be on the alert for identity theft. Avoid finders.nyc, unless you enjoy being led in circles and ghosted. read more

She submitted an application TWICE to be told by "Melanie" that they never received her application nor her payments despite proving both payments with receipts and bank statements. My mother had an appointment scheduled with these people to view an apartment in the Bronx and they never showed up! And in fact, the landlord of the building they were operating from says they hauled ass out of there and now will not pick up any phone calls and this "Melanie" person has blocked my mom from contacting her again. My mother has sent private financial documents (like taxes, W2's and bank statements) to prove her income to these people and now they have sensitive information that they could do anything with! Also this "Melanie" person referred me to her manager, Joe, who insisted that I pay a deposit of $500.00 before even VIEWING the apartment to secure my interest. Please, for the love of God, do NOT trust these people. And if I'm being honest with you, do NOT trust these reviews! I'm pretty sure they were made by robots as they all say the same thing complimenting the hell out of this "Melanie" person. This was a nightmare from start to finish and I'm going to make it my personal mission to alert the public of these scammers. I am still fairly new in looking for apartments but I had someone who has experience of these and I had them with me to help me handle things like details on leases and other stuff that must be mentioned before putting money down and signing a lease.He was asking 15% of the brokers fee for a small apartment that had windows not working and one of the locks of that window is broken, the corner of the floor pannel was rotten near the steamers were rotten and under the kitchen sink had a big hole that should of been patched up..literally Apartment is 3033 Wallace Ave is not THAT nice for you to ask me for such an immense fee. He even asked me for an early deposit on it and I said no. I told him that I wont give him the money until he fixes those issues cause the moment i give him my deposit, he wont fix anything at all and when he says that he will. I wanted it to be in writting to be secured about it but he didn't wanted to do it in writing that he will surely contact manager to fix everything. He kept insisting I give him an early deposit and that if I don't then the apartment will be back up on the site for rent. Excuse me? Were you pressuring me? That's fine then. Go ahead honestly after listening to the conversation with him and the person who had more experience in things like this. I dont think its worth it. TL;DR 1. They are unreliable. They don't know if the apartments they show are available. 2. They lie. 3. Their website sucks. If you apply, there's no confirmation they received your money/application. 4. If you apply to one of their listings, they stop answering. After requesting to go see a few apartments in the Area (Washington Heights), they were too eager to show us (me and my wife) a few places. We did visit 2 apartments and we loved one of them. After acknowledging that we were going to apply for the one we liked the most the same day we saw the apartments (and after applying), I had to text the broker to confirm that they received my application since it was already weird that I didn't receive any kind of confirmation. He confirmed they received it. The next day afternoon, the broker, Abe Rosenberg, called me to let me know that someone already applied to the apartment and tried to make me want to apply to the second one. I declined since I had to discuss the matter with my wife first. Later in the day we called and asked him to hold onto our application just so he could confirm how strong the first applicant was compared to our application. We also schedule for another day in the same week to go see more apartments as a backup plan. When I called the next day for answers, he told me that he already submitted the application, even though he acknowledged that he was going to hold onto the application to see if we had a chance. He didn't tell us or gave us a notice that it was going to be submitted. That there was a red flag. Then, after that, he stopped answering my text messages. Everything was packed with huge red flags since the day we applied to the apartment: 1. They showed us the apartment even though they didn't know that someone already applied. They funny part is that they are the ones that have the apartment listed in every listing online? 2. When I applied on their website, there was no confirmation email, text, or whatever, that acknowledged the transaction. I had to text the broker to know if the application was submitted. 3. They never answered our emails or texts back. Last message I received, was from him asking if I was still searching for an apartment. My reply was that I was still waiting for the pending response of the submitted application, which up to this point he hasn't replied to that text message yet. Either he's "too" busy, or he simply doesn't care at all. 4. When searching for the company online, it seemed that it's listed under different names, so either they're partners with other companies, or they're trying to dodge bad reviews online. 5. The lack of professionalism and not giving proper education of the situation when things are out of their hands was just too much. 6. Their website where they have their listings is crap. Honestly, I wasted my time thinking I could get somewhere with this agency, but their brokers are very bad at keeping up with their customers. If someone is looking for a broker to help them out in Uptown Manhattan, either go to another well known agency in the area (Compass, Bohemia, to name a few... Any agency but FindersNYC/Clove Realty/any other name they have over the internet). And the funny thing is that, up to this day, I'm still waiting for that application... If I could give zero stars if I could. After going through a "pre-approval" process with "Melanie"I was shown an apartment by an Amanda. She told me to text Melanie for an application. Shortly after texting her, someone named "Anthony" texted me asking if I was interested in applying. I told him that Melanie had already gave me an application (she sent me an application link via text). He wished me good luck. That evening (a Saturday), I filled out the application that Melanie sent me. and she confirmed I received it. I've yet to hear from her again despite sending two messages asking about the status of my application. I decided to follow up with "Amanda", who told me the application was still pending. Yesterday she said if I didn't hear from Melanie in a few days to follow up. I decided to follow up with Anthony. He gave me a rather vague response--"We've already forwarded this to our higher department and will send updates once we have. Also our director's name is Melanie and her number is xxxxxxxxxxx. If you have any questions and concerns about the application, please text her directly." I responded that I had indeed texted her. Anyway.
