The aisles are wider and no one is on top of each other or bumping into one another as one finds typically in the rest of NYC. This is no basement grocer, but the front of the store is not all glass windows facing the parking lot, so it does not benefit from natural light as one might expect. Some things are not in the abundance one would expect from such a large grocer. Beer was quite limited for this size of a grocery store. However, almost everything else was in great abundance. Many items come in larger sizes than is ordinarily found in NYC. The produce looked good and it appeared all the meats were in abundance, as were the dairy and bakery products. Though they have plenty of freezer cases, I missed the fresh seafood and did not notice if they have prepared meals ready to eat. In this sense, this Super Stop & Shop may not be a modern type grocer and perhaps reflects the local market does not demand prepared meals ready to eat. This is my first visit and I may have missed some things, but the style of this grocer seems very traditional. Sale prices looked quite good and the ticket reflected the proper sales price. I asked a question for information and was properly directed. This seems like a well run grocer from my first visit. I walked around most of the store and it seems to offer what most people would want or need. I cannot vouch for whether the grocer offers specialty items or those items catering to more international tastes and cuisine. This is a very good grocery store that seems to have kept inflationary prices in check and suits most peoples' needs from my observation and experience. Perhaps the store could use a refresh. Thankfully, this grocery store has NOT limited the number of cashiers to force you to self-checkout. That is a tradition to retain. 3.7 stars!

I remember getting the organic nuggets such as the one in my photo a few months back, Never have I ever expected to pay that much for chicken nuggets. Based on the price, they should have tasted like they had gold flakes to them as well. This place is generally crowded on an average week day let's say to go shopping , but you can make it work at any time especially after work. Will be visiting again but not like on an everyday basis, I kind of prefer to go to Costco for big shopping needs.

This last time that I went, I got hard to find food products. I got frozen jute leaves for my Haitian friend. I got dried taro leaves for my Filipino co-worker. I myself got: bamboo leaves, frozen banana leaves, frozen bitter leaves, preserved duck eggs, fresh water chestnuts and tons of spices. I bought some meat from the butcher section and the guy sliced the meat up to my request. They have bones for soup. I saw durians, banana flowers, sorrel flowers, two types of bitter melons(the Asians and the Guyanese type), etc etc. They have Mexican products, Indonesian, Thai, Malaysian, Filipino, Indian and of course Chinese products. There is a huge variety of products to make dishes from at least half of the world. It is a typical Chinese grocery store. The aisles are clean and stocked with a lot of items. For example, the noodle aisle is 1/4 full of all types and width of rice noodles. So for those gluten free people, they will think that they are in heaven. They have other types as well. At the time, I was interested in getting noodles to make a few bowls of pho...therefore the bones and meat for it. They also have mushroom oyster sauce for the gluten free people. I digress. Anyways, give this supermarket a try. Don't get deter by the fish market with fishy smell when you walk in. If I were the owner, I would have put the fish shop in the back. BUT, what's done is done. They're not going to chit-chat with you about the latest news story in the New York Post. It's pure business: you walk in, if you want seafood that's still swimming in the tank, or, if you want fresh vegetables which aren't sold at Key Food, then, this place will pretty much have it. Other than that there's lots of Instant Ramen ---- from Japan, Korea, China, Malaysia, Vietnam ---- and lots of spices from both Asia and the Caribbean. And a "Goya" section too. Oh, Kimichi, did I mention Kimchi in glass jars? And yes, they do have basics ---- milk, eggs, cheese, meat, cat food. A great little addition to the Bronx, well worth a visit.
