Everyone who works here is delightful. This shop may looks small from the outside but you can find most art supplies here at reasonable prices. They also have some really cool novelty items, local artist made cards, and unique craft gifts you won't find in big box stores. Really cool puzzles and beautiful build it style advent calendars for holidays. Definitely worth stopping here first before trekking out of town to Joann or Michael's. read more

I am a local professional artist, have been dealing with framers for 40 years, and from working with Tom can say he is one of the best anywhere. Hard-working, communicative and always goes above and beyond in terms of service. I have tried the other framers in town and have been very disappointed. No wonder Tom is so busy! My grandfather needed some help with a border for a picture he was framing. We were assisted by Eden. She was so patient with my 95 year old grandfather and helped him complete his project. She made him feel that his project was just as important to her as it was to him to get right. He was so pleased with the assistance he got from Eden, he wants to take in a couple more items to frame. As soon as we got him home he put up his picture and proudly stared at it. I am a local artist and was excited about visiting the store and having some art framed. I was not impressed with the place. First, the selection of art supplies is OK but everything is pricey including their framing service. I previously went to the Framery on Broadway and they seemed more reasonably priced. The second, and most important reason I will never go back there is because there was an old guy there that was raising his voice and very de-meaning to one of his female employees. I later found out later out this was the owner! I will NOT support a business like this. read more

Sonoma's riddled with the rich. They buy their shit. Bought photography, bought arrangements, bought art. Although SOME of us choose to have a unique side, a flair and some fun. This is where we go to fuel it. The only art supplies store in Sonoma, but not the best just because of that. The store is small, but well-stocked and you will find what you need. Calligraphy, paint, canvas, gold leaf, framing, books, whoopee cushion... All at competitive cost. Yes, even the cushion. Go with your coloring book loving niece in mind, go for your dirty uncle that screams out gag gift, go for your inner arteest that is begging to get out. They do excellent picture framing work, although they are somewhat pricey. But the outstanding quality of the matting and framing keeps bringing me back when I need another item framed. It's ultimately worth it. I agree, the staff is quite helpful. Especially when you're not sure what to ask for; you can trust their judgement on what will look good when it's all done. Be sure to allow several weeks unless you're willing to pay a "rush job" surcharge, although if they are not backed up with framing jobs and can accommodate a shorter turn around, they will do so without adding on the "rush" fee. read more

Not cheap but good picture framing. I've now had four or five pictures framed here and the artistic help from the man who does the framing has been invaluable. As a word of warning, make sure you get him as the woman is much less helpful and doesn't appear to have any eye for what she's doing. However if you get him (tall and thin), then you're good to go and in safe hands. It's all quite expensive but worth it for the end result. read more

This is a wonderful place. I have been going since it lived at the Sonoma Marketplace. Today, they outdid themselves. I had purchased a frame there for a very special print for my husband. I thought I could do it myself. Not a chance. I nearly ruined it. My husband brought it in there for assistance at nearly closing time. The framer finished the project with cheer and good will. I have been shopping at Fine Line for several years and enjoy Zach and his staff, they are always helpful, and if they don't have something they will get it for you very quickly. Recently I had a few pieces of art double matted and was really very pleased with Doug's workmanship. He is really good at it. It does take a while though, so plan to not be in a hurry. read more
