We arrived in Calistoga and checked into the hotel and spa. While a few of us checked in for our massages, my daughter and partner checked into our room. The massages were wonderful, we were very relaxed and went back to the room to change to swimwear. Note: The flavored waters near the spa are delicious, try them all. Our room was a really nice renovated King Suite, that also has a Queen bedroom attached. A little kitchen area, fridge sink and table, then the restroom area with added storage and seating. The pool is amazing, the water is so fresh and relaxing. The two hot tubs are heated to separate temperatures, it was just so nice to spend time going there. I found the early morning swim to be the best way to start my day. On my departure day, I decided to try a mud-bath treatment with my sister and although it was not my first time, I realized that mud baths are just not my thing. Staff was great, the spa was fantastic, hotel and pool were so relaxing. I would definitely book another weekend at the Golden Haven and recommend you treat yourself too.

I have been here a few times though the years and every time is great. Great place to stay for a…read morerelaxing weekend. Here is my run down on the place: Check-In: (4 Stars) very nice at the front desk, but found out later they had wine tasting from check in at 4 to 5pm. Why not offer a glass? I came to find out that the wine taster never showed. Customer Service Texting: Love that they have CS texting, they are very responsive and informative about things going on including how to check out. Room: (4 Stars) Bed: comfortable, good quality, high off the ground Pillows: 2 per person Night Stands: Space for tech and water, both sides had USB plugs Bed Lightning: individual reading lights on each side of the bed Extra Seating: 2 chairs and small table Mini fridge: plenty of room for your stuff Outside bathroom mirrors: full length on the closet door The in-room AC unit was very loud and doesn't turn off automatically after the temperature is reached. Bathroom: (4 Stars) Toilet didn't have its own closet (removed 1 star), slow close seat was nice, but no fan. Walk in Shower with plenty of room. Great water pressure, shower head on the wall, no water fall which is good, no shower wand but still good shower Sink: only 1, counter space limited for 2 people. Only 1 towel rack holder and a hook. Make up Mirror was nice No tub which is fine for this type of room Closet: (4 Stars) No Iron or iron board but they have seamer Hooks: none Hangers: plenty, good quality, some men's and regular plus 2 ladies. Robes: good quality, full length, no slippers Umbrellas,Flash light, small camping lantern, nice touch Maid Service: (4 Stars) no issues View: (4 Stars) nice gardens, well maintained, with a rock feature fountain up the hill Outdoor Amenities: (5 Stars) Pool: one very large natural spring water heated pool and an adult pool that's a little cooler Pool bar: water station, food, snacks, cocktail That's it, enjoy your stay...

I write all 5 star reviews so I hate to be negative;…read moreespecially because I usually love Indian Springs. But I HATE spending my hard earned money to be treated poorly. My mom has been coming here since she was a teenager, and we've carried through the tradition every summer. My husband and I love Hill House so much that when my wedding was cancelled during Covid, we eloped here in 2021. This stay has left such a bitter taste.. Lounging by the pool, my family and I were eating some pretzels and despite the other friendly staff passing by and checking in on us, Dylan stopped to tell us to put away our pretzels (obviously, because they want to capitalize on selling you food - fine). But his demeanor was so unfriendly and condescending. So we ordered poolside drinks and food with another friendly waiter, and unfortunately Draconian Dylan brought our food and told us that now our speaker wasn't allowed (even though it had been on the whole time with low volume, and there was no one there [see attached photo for emptiness]). Why go out of your way to ruin a family vacation when we're not bothering any one? Anyway, stay at the Bungalows of Calistoga across the street (so cute!) or Carneros (better pool! better views! better service! AMAZING cottages! and Domaine Carneros across the street for champagne tasting! All YES!) It's funny how one person can really ruin an entire day, and even an entire era of loyalty .. Train your staff better when you have families paying a lot of money to be here.

We arrived before check in time (which is 4:00). Upon arrival, they informed us that our room wasn't ready yet but we could use the pools until it was. We went ahead and were immediately impressed with all 3 pools. When we hadn't heard back by 3:45, I went back to the front desk and they checked us in. We stayed for 2 nights. Here are my pros and cons from our visit: Pros: Grounds: the grounds are nice and well kept. Pools: All three pools were clean and exactly as advertised online. The chaise lounges/seating near the pool offered ample lounging space and shade. The adult only area had a lush garden and cozy seating. They have a few pool noodles on hand but I recommend bringing your own if you enjoy using one. Staff/service: Excellent ! When we arrived and checked in, we were greeted with warmth and welcoming. I'd say that there was not one unfriendly staff member. I have to mention that Chris, in particular, was very attentive and accommodating to us and all other guests we saw interact with him. Much appreciated, especially as all Calistoga lost power which slightly displaced our plans for a few hours. Room: As soon as we walked in you could smell how clean it was. We had a courtyard view King room. We appreciated all of the special touches including the cute, retro mini fridge, the oil diffuser, and the extra large bath towels. The bed was very comfortable as well. Food/drinks: It makes it extra special to be able to order food/drinks to be delivered to you poolside. We loved that! We had two breakfasts. My favorite was the breakfast sandwich with bacon. We loved the cocktails, too. Cons: Construction noise: Indian Springs is expanding their resort which means, eventually, they will be directly across the street. The construction noise was a bit alarming when we were vacationing and wanting to sleep in. Luckily I brought ear plugs so it didn't bother me too much. It didn't take away much from our trip and I'm hopeful it actually boosts this wonderful establishment in the future. Day use guests: this may be nitpicking but it upset me enough to mention it. My husband was using a chaise lounge with an umbrella next to it. A couple showed up and proceeded to take the umbrella from where he was seated and moving it to their spot. When my husband explained that he was using it, they replied that they had "paid for it" and continued to move it away from our spot. They ended up being moved to another "reserved" spot and they did the same thing to another couple. The lack of social etiquette was unfortunate. Overall, we truly enjoyed our stay here and will return. *Another side note is that they are a dog friendly hotel (we have a dog but didn't bring him in this trip).

We especially want to give a huge shoutout to Chris and Jose, who were both incredibly kind, friendly, and helpful throughout our stay. They had such a great attitude and made us feel welcomed and taken care of. Shortly after we checked in, there was a power outage that lasted for most of the night. Even though it was an unexpected situation, Chris and Jose were there to help us through it. They kept us informed, helped us whenever we needed anything, and did everything they could to make the situation as comfortable as possible. Their positive attitude and willingness to help really stood out to us. They brought such a great vibe to the experience and made a difficult situation much easier to get through. Chris and Jose truly went above and beyond, and they deserve recognition for the excellent service they provided. Thank you, Chris and Jose, for helping make our anniversary stay special and memorable! We really appreciate everything you did for us.
