Well ai was in a pinch my leadership team decided to have a meeting and wanted dinner a day before for 7 people for tonite. I come to Rouge on company dinners but not that often as soon as I called we did a little negotiation I took an earlier seating and it was settled! I so appreciate the staff, food atmosphere. First time here but have heard about it a number of times before. Was suggested by a good friend who typically has good restaurant/food recommendations and who I was meeting up with for dinner that day, so I we went here. Had a reservation, which was good since it was packed and busier than I thought it would be on a Tuesday night. Host and server were both very friendly, welcoming and helpful during our dining experience. We got a couple of apps to share + Shrimp Cocktail and Calamari. Seafood for both were very fresh, everything was presented well and had good taste. Didn't originally plan on getting a drink but decided to get one and, at the recommendation of our server, I got the Passion Icon*Frozen* drink. It was perfect and refreshing for that extremely hot summer day, and had a great balance of sweet and liquor. For my entree, I went with the Herb Chicken Sandwich which was much bigger than I expected when she brought out the plate. Had a good cook, chicken was still juicy with some light flavor to it. This place was so cute for brunch! The drink menu is fun and seasonal, and the presentation was fantastic. My friend and I both really enjoyed our meal - the food was fresh and flavorful. The service is on the slower side, but they were very busy and the servers/bartenders were super friendly. Ugh! First off, read my reviews. I honestly don't remember when I've left a two star review. During Covid, I decided that I was no longer in the business of leaving less than glowing reviews. It's hard out there. I'm not going to take my grievances out on a business if I believe owners are trying. Therefore, I review honestly those that I think you should attend for a beautiful meal. I review those that meet my standards (because who am I? I haven't put my hard earned money into opening a restaurant and hoping that it works). If I'm unsatisfied, I generally just don't review. I'll point you to the beautiful places and if I don't like it, I just let it be. I still stand by this. I want to promote businesses. However, if I feel like people come with their hard earned money and are getting way less than what they pay for then it's a different game. This restaurant is on the higher end. What does one get? Average. Maybe, on some level, less than that. I took a walk around center city today and passed by Rouge. I remembered having a burger there (probably 10 years ago?) that blew my socks off. Today was beautiful and glowy and I decided right then and there that I wanted to revisit this place. I texted my youngest daughter to meet me there and I got a reservation for 7:15. I showed up, gave my name to the hostess who checked my reservation and I was being directed to a table when I hear my daughter yell, "mom!". She was seated and checked in. How was that missed? No big deal, but it was a sign of things to come. I joined my daughter and eventually we put in our order with a server who barely looked at us. It was odd. Ok. Still, I'm patient and if the food is good, well, the odd waiter gets a pass. It wasn't. I ordered the burger and honestly, I've had better at classic burger houses. There is absolutely nothing special about this 27 dollar burger. I asked for medium rare and the center wasn't even pink. I asked for salt because it tasted under seasoned. And the fries? I could have the same taste from a frozen bag from Aldi that I throw on a cookie sheet for the oven. My daughter ordered the steak (again, cooked well, no pink) and the chimichurri sauce was super salty. The nine dollar side of brócoli was boiled broccoli with zero seasoning. Crazy. And is this a club? A bar? A restaurant? The fist pumping music coming out the restaurant was confusing. I can totally acquiesce that it's not my scene but I'm paying high end dinner costs. The check that was dropped at our table was someone else's and stated that we owed $250. I tried to address it promptly and approached an empty hostess stand. Turns out, I passed the hostess on my way to the hostess stand, chatting on the steps with other employees. Call me crazy, but it all seems so unprofessional. Again, if these prices were mediocre bar fare this review would be 100 percent different. I felt taken advantage of, so I'm now trying to bring a bit of justice to those who might come for a semi-high-end experience only to find that their money brought them an average bar in Philadelphia disguised as a place to indulge in good food. This place is a 10/10. My husband and I went here for a date night and everything was wonderful since the moment we walked in. It was a beautiful day so they had the front open so it had that nice indoor outdoor feel. My husband and I got 2 entrees to share and I mentioned we were sharing so they put a half of each of our sandwiches on our plates. We have never had a restaurant do that before. It was so cute! We had a lovely brunch during graduation weekend here. We were up for our son's graduation and decided to get a bite before our 3 hour drive home. We hit Parc up first but the wait would have been an hour. We tried our luck at Rouge and although it was full they were able to accommodate us- we did have to split up with our adult kids at one table and us at another table next to them. Worked out just fine! The staff were kind and attentive, especially our waitress. And we all enjoyed our drinks (bloody Marys and Bellinis) and food- the asparagus and leek omelet was light and delicious; our kids loved their salads, cheesesteak, and traditional breakfast. We had a beautiful view of the park and the restaurant was beautiful and lively on this wonderful Saturday! We'd happily go back next time we're in Philly! read more

A really tricky three star rating for Rouge now that I've been twice. I'll start by saying that I DO recommend going and enjoying! It's a beautiful restaurant and the outdoor dining directly adjacent to the park is lovely. I think the easiest way to breakdown why Rouge sits squarely at three stars for me is to share what I've been blown away by and where I've been left a little cold. The Amazing: + The espresso martini! I am not someone who typically orders this, but whatever they are doing here is working. Perfectly balanced both times I've tried it and hits the spot any time of day. + The wine list. Whoever is running the beverage program here is my favorite person. Great selection of wine, including options from one of the best FLX wineries Lamoreaux Landing. + The covered outdoor dining. + The location (duh) + The very-similar-to-Mcdonalds french fries. I know this could be a big negative for some...I am into it. The less than amazing: + Menu items on the menu not necessarily being stocked. My dining mate attempted to order both oysters and soup only to find out both were unavailable. + Only one working bathroom the day I went with a bit of a wait. + Service can be a bit hit or miss. I think servers cover a large area and many tables at a time so things can get slowed down, especially when dining outside. + I tried the calamari and caprese hoagie on my last visit and found both to be unremarkable. The bread on my hoagie was quite mealy and tough, which is not my preference for that kind of sandwich. Interestingly enough, La Colombe right nearby also serves up a caprese sandwich and I honestly preferred it. Overall a good spot, and worth heading to if you're looking for cocktails or to enjoy some time at the bar/outside. I will be back many times I am sure, and am happy this spot exists. read more

We came here after Parc was way overly crowded. We saw the reviews were a bit low but decided to give it a try anyway considering how few other cafe style options there were in the area. We were seated right away inside, which is an open air format restaurant. Very chic and trendy dining area and bar. It wasn't overly crowded and we weren't rushed at all. Very attentive staff that was very honest about the menu items. The menu looked great and almost all of us chose the burger. It was a huge burger that was a bit hard to eat but very good. The cheese was some unique flavors with an abundance of fruit. The shrimp was classic shrimp cocktail. Nothing special but tasted good. The burger was great! Inside the restaurant had the classic upscale feel with high tables around the bar and leather seats. Food: I ordered the avocado toast and an espresso martini. The avocado toast was really good. It was our last day in Philly and the SO and I stopped here for lunch without a reservation.  The hostess was accommodating and enterprising enough to find us a table. We started off with a nice cocktail and beer while our orders were being prepared. SO ordered the avocado toast, which was tasty and nicely sized! I had the burger, which was perfectly cooked to order...the caramelized onion and gruyere definitely enhanced it! Overall, the food was good, the hostess and waitstaff were on point, but all the assistant manager had to do was to stay out of our way and keep his mouth shut for our perfect 30 minute lunch, of which it took 12 minutes to get our dishes...which wasn't a big deal to us until he opened his big pie hole.  We had paid for our lunch and my SO just came back from the restroom when we were hurried out the door. Was going to rate this place 4 stars, but rushing us to leave put a bad taste in our mouths.  So, 20 percent was left for the waitstaff and 2 stars are left for the stunted assistant manager's lack of class and etiquette. read more

Came here on a Friday evening around 11:30 and the place was PACKED and for good reason! If you're looking for the perfect blend of a classy bar scene with a 20-30s scene, this is the place to go. Entrance was fast despite the line although space was limited inside. We were able to find bar space easily though and as the night progressed, other tables opened up. The drinks here are definitely top notch at a great price point and I would definitely have ordered more if our night wasn't ending here. The clientele here is also very respectful and some gentlemen even offered us their seats when they saw us standing. I cannot recommend Rouge enough! read more

Don't get me wrong, I love all Starr restaurants but..... rouge is consistently evolving, adding new menu items, changes the decor and service is always on point! One of the best things that Rouge has going for it is the lovely outdoor area near the square. In my opinion it really differentiates itself from nearby Parc and Devon with their streetery, which is so beautiful to hang out in. They attach fun decorations to the top of this large tent and deck the whole thing out with picnic chairs and large tables. It's quite well done and very beautiful, while still offering good coverage from the weather. As most of the streeteries were taken down this winter there's even more of an impetus to check out Rouge's. I've only ever sat outside and the service has been quite good even though it can get a bit hectic during peak hours. While inside can be pretty tough to get a table day of, I've always been able to walk in for a seat outside, even on weekends. I find the food too expensive for what it is --pretty standard American fare. I like what I eat every time, but it's definitely nothing to call home about. I'd suggest getting a large appetizer and a drink and hanging out outside on a nice spring day. The cheese plate is particularly fun. If you are peckish and want an entree, I'd go burger--best value for money, although it is still quite pricey! Definitely worth checking out their really lovely outdoor area, probably as more of a pre-dinner cocktails kind of thing. read more

WOW. WOW. WOW. I'm so glad my friends and I were able to get a reservation at Rouge to celebrate our friend's birthday. Both the food and the vibes were amazing! I know they're accepting smaller reservations on Resy, but on a Sunday afternoon, I honestly doubt you'd wait long for a table. Their outdoor display is STUNNNN-INGGGG. The fall colors and leaves were perfectly curated and the tent was filled with heat lamps to keep their guests warm. The group decided mostly on brunch items, like their French toast and Eggs Benny, but I'd love to come back and try their oysters and charcuterie boards. My friend actually had a problem with her food, and we politely brought it to the staff's attention and it was taken care of swiftly and without question. Someone even came over afterwards to make sure everything was okay afterwards. We had a rather large group (thank you Rouge for accommodating, we REALLY appreciate it!!!) and felt very well attended to and taken care of. 11/10 would recommend and I cannot wait to come back and check out their decorations for the wintertime and try other menu items. Very Chichi, Rouge was the place to be on a Saturday night (wear your chic-est and nicest purse). Their outdoor setup right now is beautiful and great for groups. To sit inside, you must be fully vaccinated (and show proof of vaccination). It was a busy Saturday night, but the service was meh, and attention to detail was lacking. For food, the calamari was delicious, however about half the dish is going to be fried peppers to make the plate more "full" and definitely not enough sauce for the amount they give you. The Tuscan kale Caesar salad was kale...with croutons...and Parmesan (was the powdered kind, not actual pieces)...with dressing. It was fine but soo boring. The pierogies were actually the best dish. Needed to cool off and refresh after going to the Rodin Museum and since our hotel was nearby, this was the most ideal spot with a lovely view of Rittenhouse Square. Our server was so friendly and attentive. Cocktails were delicious. I ordered a hibiscus margarita with jalapeño-infused tequila and a mezcal rinse and he got the butterfly kisses which was gin, lavender, lemon, sparkling. The interior is also super stylish which made me feel fancy and transported to a different era or part of the world but I also felt comfortable with their cushioned seating. Would definitely come back, eat from their enticing menu and people watch, if I'm ever in Philly again. Their outdoor patio seating is the cutest I've seen yet, with hanging plants and flowers, and Adirondack chairs to lounge in. They even added a water fountain for mood. Absolutely loved this place! Came here for my birthday and booked the pre fixe menu about 3 weeks in advance. It was the best decision ever! The restaurant was very quick with responding and accommodated every single request we had. They were extremely patient and kind throughout the whole process.
