When we picked up our dog we found out that the package that they require you to add on they charge an additional $20 per day to let your dog out of the kennel area. I had to board my mom's 14yo cat Lucy for an extended stay (39 days!) while my mom had surgery and then was moved into a rehab facility. What made it more challenging is that I live in CA and there was nobody else to help. Ultimately, we learned that my mom could no longer have a pet but I was fortunate to quickly find her a new home. When I returned to town to visit Lucy prior to transferring her new home, I was very excited to see a once-timid feline transformed into a love bug - thanks to the staff brought her out of her shell while she was there. The icing on the cake was that they shaved some of the extra charges off my final invoice because they knew this was a tough situation and they had enjoyed having her around as long as they did. And they made it very clear that if her new home didn't work out, there were plenty of workers there that would have welcomed her into her new home. Unfortunately, it's no boom town. We live nearby and used the dog trainer a few times, who was great, but this company is incredibly poorly managed. For a training session confirmed (by me) that same morning by phone, we arrived to a "closed for staff meeting" sign, and no apology for our inconvenience! Blaming their new" computer /billing issues, I was unable to pay by card at a session; instead of a phone call, they later sent me a collection threat letter for $29. Incredibly poor management, understaffed, but in hindsight to be expected if the staff are treated anything like their customers. Steer clear! I would not trust them with animals if they treat people in this manner. Animals can't rat them out! read more

I was initially impressed when I made the reservation for my dog by all in questions that were asked about her temperament, habits, likes, dislikes. She stayed a week. The portal that is requested to be used prior to boarding is useless. I uploaded vaccination records, they were unable to see them on their end. Invoice was uploaded of course. When we picked up our dog, she appeared scared. We received absolutely no feedback about her stay, and there were at least 3 staff present at pickup. No report card or pictures either. Very disappointed with the lack of feedback. Very unlikely we would board here again. read more

I have used FLPR for grooming and training so I can't speak to boarding or day care. I have 2 dogs- Nora and Patrick. Nora has been terrible with nail clippings and the groomer was able trim her up in 2 minutes. Patrick was a different story- he's a pup so he isn't used to it. He had some bleeding nails so she provided us with the quick stop. Training with Tricia has been awesome. She's accessible. The staff keeps vet records on file so we can float from service to service. Patrick just graduated from intro to family manners and we've learned so much. Tricia gives us homework which is well spelled out on the handouts we get in class. The space is big but sometimes other classes can get loud- agility can be loud but I guess we learned to get higher value treats and it worked out just fine. I love the place so far. I can't wait to take advantage of the daycare and boarding! read more

I had a very bad experience working here. This company doesn't care about their employees and as a direct result, the dogs suffer. People are constantly walking out on their jobs because they are overworked and underpaid. As an employee here I saw much room for improvement. I brought a solution to the management/owner and was quickly brushed off. They don't have enough staff to keep up with the promised activities for the dogs. There are some nice people that work here but for the most part, it is stressful, unorganized, and poorly run. I wouldn't recommend this company for employment and I certainly wouldn't take my fur baby there. read more

I'm gonna be honest the caregivers here are very nice management on the other hand are inconsiderate about time, and some get a little too close... I personally would not send my animal here because I believe they will go hours without water because I've seen it first hand. when you call the front desk they rarely ever pick up. If you do send your animal here check your animal when you pick them up I know you wouldn't want anything to happen to your precious pets also, if you were thinking about applying they will overwork you and will go over the hours that you signed up for. The new management doesn't like time off, so you'll never get it I would like to bring up if you were bringing your sick pet into this establishment I would not I would like to say on indeed the pay was between $15-$18. If you made more at your last job, they will not match your pay. I did ask someone who is working there that they are making less than what was posted. I was really hoping for better when we initially took our pup here for doggy daycare and boarding. The place is huge and the facility is nice but that's really about it. The staff is friendly but they don't really take the time to get to know your pup- I would board my dog, go to pick her up, and nobody could tell me how she did or provide any sort of details on her stay. For doggy daycare, they practically have your dog in a kennel for half the day. They say it allows the dog to nap in between but I'm paying for her to play, not nap in a kennel when she isn't even kenneled at home. As for boarding, they charge extra for play time when I've found at other places it's included in the boarding fee. Overall, this place is a lot more expensive for less amenities and not as good of service. Luckily I was able to find a much better option for our pup going forward! read more

I can't stop raving about Boomtowne! I could write a 100 page dissertation as to why you should bring your beloved canines here but all you need to know is that our dogs are our children, and the women and men that make up the staff of Boomtown Canine Campus are as good and possibly better than, their God-Parents. I do not trust anyone else to watch my "children" when I'm out of town and we've been to other places. Despite having a multitude of closer-to-home options within the greater ROC area, I'll drive 30 minutes out of my way to go to Farmington and bring my furbabies to these wonderful, compassionate, loving people who truly treat my dogs as if they were there's. If you're reading this review you're probably a pet owner and as such, you know that your dogs know when they're going some place they don't like or are unsure of. My dogs come running into and up to the staff as if they were their owners. There's really no better way to know if this is the "right place," than if your dogs feel comfortable. read more

Both of our dogs have come here for boarding as well as grooming during the past three years. We used to live in California and were sad to leave behind a fantastic facility comparable to Boom Towne with all of the perks--training, daycare, boarding, grooming, etc. Imagine my excitement when I found Boom Towne. The staff is incredibly patient. We have a dog who is, to put it nicely, a little wild. He is a leash puller and full of energy, but the staff is always very welcoming and patient with him. Our other dog is the complete opposite; he usually shakes when going to new boarding places and very rarely warms up to people. I was so happy to see the shy guy wagging his tail when one of the staff members approached him during one of his first visits. I would highly recommend them for boarding or day stay. Boom Towne is very clean and thorough. They will not allow dogs to stay with them who are not up-to-date on ALL vaccinations, and they remove all of the dogs' collars upon entry to avoid any issues during play time. They evaluate all dogs before allowing them to play with one another, and they ensure the dogs have plenty of activity. Whenever we pick our dogs up after a boarding stay, they are exhausted, which I take as a good sign. Their rates, while some may consider them high, I think are reasonable, especially for the service you receive. The grooming is also fantastic. We have two lab mixes, so they don't need much more than a bath and nail trim, but they always come home from the grooming smelling and looking great. I also appreciate that Boom Towne has a window, so that you can see what the groomers are doing. We brought our one dog here for basic puppy obedience training. The instructor was professional and serious. She was great with the dogs, and knowledgeable. Overall, if you are looking for a reliable boarding, daycare, or grooming facility, I highly recommend Boom Towne. Make sure that you call ahead; they are usually accommodating, but because of how fantastic they are, they often book quickly, especially during busy times of the year. In addition to all of my praise for what is now Finger Lakes Pet Resort, I would like to add that Rachel VanGelder is wonderful to work with as a customer. She is attentive, professional, and wonderful with the dogs and their owners. Every time I make a boarding reservation online, she responds quickly and is very accommodating. read more

We got our first puppy September 2021, a female black lab / golden retriever mix. Upon her arrival and our busy work schedules I wanted her to be able to socialize and "burn some energy." We began taking her to local breweries / wineries where Stella would meet pup friends and would to great! I began looking into doggy day care for the time she would be eligible to go. Finger Lakes Pet Resort was one of the only "closer" options for us as we live on Keuka Lake. Things started off fabulous or -- so I thought. I was under the impression we got a daily report from their day at daycare, this is not so, you get one call the first day of their "trial." Which, her trial went great. We scheduled a few more days the month of December, and she got conjunctivitis (pink eye), we took her to the vet for eye drops and they recommended Benadryl as well. Well, right after this I got a phone call from day care saying "Stella was overzealous and spicy in her play" and therefore was removed from group. Which is totally understandable as it is their jobs to keep all dogs safe. I told them about the Benadryl maybe contributing and stopped immediately before she went back that Thursday with no issue / but Saturday she went back and I got a phone call asking me "if there was something going on at home that is upsetting Stella as she snapped at another dog-- which in turn snapped at her as well" resulting in her getting removed from group play. It was very upsetting picking her up that day as I got this call that she was not in group to then be told by the front desk she had a great day and played with all her friends. The beginning of the major down fall of this facility--I never was informed during this time she was graduated up from puppy group to bigger dogs, not to mind you they were having in door play which is much more confined and the noise level is out of this world. As well as moving forward after these 2 separate incidences Stella was ALONE EVERY OTHER DAY! Stellas in home trainer-- who also used to work at this facility as a trainer discussed methods of helping Stella get through these energetic stages of her life! Several days later to get a response from manager Brittany of Finger Lakes to see what I could do at home and they could also continue doing there to help Stella grow and learn to participate in group again as a 5 month old puppy she is likely to look like an outcast with dogs ages 1+ the maturity level is no where near the same! It was not until my trainer had reached out to Brittany that I ever heard anything back. I was feeling very defeated but knew she would be going out to get spayed come the end of January and would be out for at least 2 weeks, with the hopes this would help her level out her energy levels. I reached out to Brittany just prior to Stellas return, agreeing a slow introduction back to group, and also doing some split days where she did romp and run first thing to tire her out and group in the afternoon Again-- Here I am thinking that is what is occurring until I reached out 2/20 (1 week post return) for Brittany's response to say that they did work in group with Stella, she had some hard time getting redirected, they had to walk her on a leash to help interrupt her attention- at this time I asked for suggestions for home work to do and really just said "If you're comfortable, you can introduce Stella to other dogs at the dog park, but at this point large groups are not in her best interest" therefore will be alone because "we dont have the staffing abilities to accommodate smaller groups. This left me feeling as Stella is the "child in class who cannot read and due to staff / time we just put her off to the side with the hopes she learns on her own." I had paid for a 20 day package- come 2/20 I had 9 days left on this package! Just under half!!! When spending $400 + on a package to find out they don't have the time / energy or man power to tend to your dog so she gets put in romp in run therefore gets taken out 3 x a day for about a half hour is INSANE to me! Not to mention after this time being told by staff that I over exercise her and they cant keep up with me walking her "five miles a day"at home. During March Stella Attended Green Valley K9 in Henrietta for boarding / day care. She had a day care trial - great report card, during her boarding spent 4 days with groups of 10 dogs in their yellow medium / high energy group with no issues reported. I asked Brittany the manager at finger lakes to reconsider trying Stella in group on 3/21- got a phone call noting Stella did great. Thinking things would get better, but she was alone her last two days. when i asked the front desk if she was in group and they said we are short staffed so it varies. I inquired with Brittany who assures me its not due to staff but the other dogs who are there at time same time. They will not refund my last 4 -5 days of this package they just want to punish my dog for their lack of staffing! read more

I have taken my dog here for several years and absolutely loved the facility and staff. Recently it changed hands and I will discontinue taking my dog here. The staff no longer knows any of their regular clients or their pets. Upon dropping my dog off on more than one occasion they didn't even greet him (pet him, talk to him, make him comfortable) they just took the leash from me and walked him to the back. The staff does not seem to have the love for animals and the new owner seems indifferent. I think their focus now is on agility and other trials and not boarding or daycare. The webcams which used to be a great feature are no longer operable which also makes me nervous. I no longer trust my dog here and am looking for another daycare and boarding solution in the area. read more

We just boarded our yellow lab at Boomtowne for 5 days. Upon arrival, we requested a bath for the day of pick up, so he would be clean coming home. The young staff said they didn't know, and would call us back. We never heard a word, and called back each day, every time told we would get a call back. Finally, after four days, we got a call saying he had gotten a bath the day after we dropped him off. Seriously?! After my wife got a hold of the owner, she waived the bathing fee, as well as the play time fees to make up for what had happened. We were happy with that. Today our dog was returned to us soaking wet, and we were told he was just playing in a pool. It was unpleasant putting our soaking wet smelling dog in the car. At home we noticed there was a big chunk of hair missing from his backside with cut marks and blood. No one mentioned this to us. I called, and the girl told me that he had been playing really rough with another dog. The dogs should have been separated, instead of letting them carry on to the point of injury. However, she disagreed and said the dogs are always rough there. I firmly believe he was hosed down to get the blood off, and there was never any playing in a pool. I sent him there to be taken care of, not to dog fight. I would never leave my dog here again, obviously. I see it's under new ownership, which makes sense, because we always had good experiences there in years past. If you care about your dog at all, don't board here. Beware!!! read more

We took our girl there right after the facility changed hands. We loved Boomtowne and the staff, but it was changed. The people we trusted were gone, the cameras where we could watch her during playtimes were removed and she came home with an eye infection which then required a vet visit ($$$) and treatment afterwards. Too bad, but we haven't yet been able to get ourselves to go back. A real shame, because we, and our princess, loved the facility. read more

We love Finger Lakes Pet Resort. We took our puppy (Dory) to group training classes there and now board her there when we travel. The level of care that she receives is truly excellent. From being able to customize the size of a room that she can stay in, to the wide variety of activities that she can do daily, and having her bathed in time for pick up, it's just great! Though the best part truly is the wonderful staff who are so very sweet to our dog, I cannot say enough about what a wonderful operation it is and we highly recommend it. read more

Our dogs Athena & Zeus have been there twice; first boarding experience when we picked them up they were covered in pee without explanation. We discussed with the owner and decided to give them another shot as they were close by for our boarding needs. Second time- our dogs both smelled like pee again and Zeus had a piece of his ear missing. There was blood all over our car from the second we picked him up. Despite numerous attempts to find out what happened within the staff nobody was ever able to tell us what happened. They did not issue a refund. I use to love this place but after the new owners took over and fired all of the experienced staff, who I loved and loved my two dogs, I have seen it go down hill. There are only young, inexperienced people working there, my bedding came home wet and covered in urine, I can no longer watch my dogs when they are in the big inside play area on camera. I knew all the principles who owned the business and they knew every dog and every client by name - made me feel welcomed when I came in - now I know no one and I have never seen the new owner - staff that work the front area don't know what they are doing and are poorly trained. Thinking it was just the car ride, that was a mistake, my dog got really sick from then on, coughing, puking, deficating all night, to the point I'm sitting in the animal emergency room right now, writing this. We picked up our 10 year old retriever two days ago after a three-night stay. We have gone to Boom Towne for years with great results and I was nervous given the recent bad reviews. I have never reviewed an organization on this site, but given the recent bad reviews I wanted to give my input. My dog came back happy and healthy! When a kennel experience is bad she is red around the eyes from stress, and has to go outside multiple times after we get home. Neither happened in this case. Sure, the new folks did not recognize us as we walked in like before, but when we picked her up they were all smiles and commented about her personality while she was there. So, I do think they gave her good attention. We do sign up for the additional play times. Sure, it makes for a more expensive stay, but I am sure our dog is happier for it and I suspect the staff gets to know her better as a result. I will continue to take my dog to Boom Towne. read more

I board my dog here when the facility closser to me is booked. Ive never had a problem other than not getting everything back upon pick up. I do wish play time was included like my regular facility bit they do offer walks and treats for an extra fee that others do not. I especially value the availability they offer. read more

The staff is very nice but I took my 2 dogs here and both of them were attacked or injured within a two week time span. The one dog that was attacked and bled in 2 areas was attacked by a dog that the staff had been told was out of wack that day. Very poor judgement on the staff's part. I really have to question the facility's caring (never heard again from the staff or owners after I had to take my other dog to the vet when she was injured in their yard). Too many issues in such a short time. There must be some problem there. I am just not going to take a chance with my dogs health. read more

We boarded our dog there, they forgot to give him his medication and yet we still went back...dumb! She refuses to refund us money that we prepaid for training, a really poor way to run a business!! This is not a good review and is based on two visits over the last few months. Our PWD dog has some food allergies and we send him with each meal packaged in individual baggies. When we picked him up this weekend we were told that he has loose stool and it most likely is caused by stress. He usually stays at another kennel and never comes home with loose stool. He came home and has had severe diarrhea for two days so far. One bag of food was returned unused and I was told they fed him everyday from our provided food. That cannot be the case. I spoke to the manager and she defended the care they provided and would offer no refund. The previous visit our dog came home with serious ear infections and we had a $150 vet bill. We will never return as others had already warned us of the new management. read more

My parents have been customers for nearly 15 years and are told suddenly that their dog has been banned. No warning. No nothing. It's their "policy" that any dog who bites another cannot come back, yet this didn't take into account several things: 1. The bite occurred while the two dogs were playing. 2. My parents' dog is a 15-month-old puppy, and puppies can nip. 3. The staff there wasn't watching the dogs close enough. What's more is that they allowed my parents to continue to spend money there, including a $600 boarding visit, for two weeks before they were told suddenly their dog has been banned, all while knowing they were going to ban the dog. The new owners suck and the place has gone downhill. It used to be such a friendly place but now the staff is cold and uncaring. Hope they enjoy the extra money they rung out of my parents before they kicked them to the curb. My parents are heartbroken over this. Loyalty means nothing anymore, especially at this place. read more

If I could I rate it a zero stars. The new owners hate the dog sport community. I used to rent the ring for agility. They no longer rent it out to practice in the winter. Plus they haven't fixed the flooring. The flooring needs to be replaced. Even a judge was taping the mats together. The fast dogs slip on the mats and the handlers running can displace the mats. I won't run my dog at any show in the building anymore. Can't afford an injury to happen to either of us. read more

The original owners, when this place was Boometown, were fine. My dog didn't like to be boarded, but I thought that was to be expected. After ownership changed, our dog was returned to us matted and reeking. We complained and they explained the she had gotten repeatedly wet during her outside playtime. I gave this place another chance -- even though when I stepped in my dog's absolute anxiety should have told me to turn around and exit immediately -- and I still regret doing so. When I picked my sweet dog up, she was a mess, emotionally and physically. She had lost a lot of weight and, again, her hair was matted and she reeked. I washed her multiple times and the smell didn't go away. I had to get a professional groomer to take care of her. Much worse than her deplorable physical condition, was my dog's emotional state. I've never seen anything like it and I've been a pet owner for 30 years. I also trained animals at a research institute. It was as if she was in shock, as if she had been the victim of way more than neglect. I wish I had reported this place immediately. I guess I was in shock too. Spare your pet and take him or her somewhere else. read more
