I regularly commute between SF and LA for work and family so I occasionally bring my bike with me to go on random bike rides everywhere in between. I stumbled upon this place while I was riding along a river/bike route in Bakersfield earlier this year. I've been to many bikes shops (a lot of fancy ones too in SF and LA) and the one thing this place has over those is the size of their inventory and their hospitality. There are cold drinks, restrooms, an air compressor, and of course cycling products and bike services. Now, even though I don't always ride in Bakersfield, I will make a point to stop here whenever I go between SF and LA just to get my bike tuned-up and catch up with the employees and owners (the owner is pretty much there all the time). I will most likely buy my next bike with them as my bike is on its last legs (wheels). If you live nearby or just passing through, I highly recommend this place. They are awesome and will most definitely give you amazing customer service. read more

James and his co workers are the best, james took care of my bike when i was about to get it from them and told about tons of warranties on my bike. Came back this Saturday 1st of March to add pressure on my front shocks and rear and they took care of my bike! But the most perfect part is the price and value of my Giant bike. This place/ shop is one of the pillars for bakersfield bicycle community and provide services par excellence most of the time . I have called and asked many questions and every time I have been satisfied with their answers and helped me to make informed decisions.I brought my bike for servicing and despite being very busy it was delivered only a week after the promised date due to one of the tech has some personal unexpected problems . My only suggestion is please check thoroughly before handing over the bike as my bike's head bulb wires are not attached and I was not happy wiheen I brought this issue with the tech . I have had my Electric Assisted Bicycle now for just over a year. The bicycle is very nice, and I probably have 700 to 800 miles on it. There have been a few occasions to have the bike into the service department. The team back in the service department are very good, I try to more or less schedule with some type of a "rough" appointment, and so far they have been able to return my bicycle towards the end of the week so we are able to enjoy on the weekends. For those curious about what service matters have been addressed, they are: Remove the fenders so that i can change the color, as the bike is all black, they reinstalled the fenders after powder coating. Next, a one year tune up and general service. They found the chain to be stretched. After the tune up and chain replacement, the ride really smoothed out. Last a flat tire just after the tune up. The tube was replaced in about 30 minutes or so yesterday. This bike shop takes care off the custer, and of course, the customer's bicycles. I do recommend. read more

Having just moved to the area with two new bikes we knew we would need to find a bike shop quick. Right off the Kern River parkway bike trail, we bumped into this Finish Line store and the owner, Christian, was so friendly and welcoming, not to mention incredibly helpful and knowledgeable. He tuned up our bikes, sized us, and gave us expert advice (without even charging us AND on a Sunday, his day off!). We were completely blown away by his high level of customer service and willingness to help, especially being beginners and new to Bako, and are thankful to have his local shop to go to for all of our cycle gear and service needs. If you cycle, regardless of your level, there is no need to look elsewhere. I'm glad we are close by, but we would drive to visit this special place for sure! read more

So about 2 months ago we took our son's throne bike to Finish Line. They said 2 weeks, charged us $$$. After 3 1/2 weeks past we called, said it would be another couple of weeks. Then after weeks more of waiting nothing. Then we received a text saying to come pick up our bike. BUT they didn't/couldn't fix it. Picked it up for a refund. Took it to Action Sports, 3 days later they called had the bike fixed up good as new! Don't wait 2 months when you could wait days. This was just our experience though. Hope it helps! read more

This shop is fabulous... new owner is great!!! I was traveling 200 miles from home... my bike had a derailleur issue. I needed it checked or fixed now, I was doing a race the next day. They went way out of there way tried to adjust it... but was bent.. adjustment made it better.. but not perfect. I ask to them install a new one but they were out of stock.. so they went to another local bike shop picked one up.,, and got me on my way! Hi! This is my first ever yelp review. Waited a bit to post this but in light of recent actions from this business I decided to post. TLDR: don't support this place until someone new takes over. First off, I shopped here frequently for many years due to ease of location from CSUB. I was a little hesitant after the previous owners got political, but tried re-patronizing this shop after new owners took over. I was hopeful for change. Now I wish someone else took over this shop. New owners are actually worse. I shopped here for about a year after new ownership took control. I got my old bike repaired and tuned up several times as I am a frequent bike path user and enthusiast (not big on riding on streets). I met Christian on several occasions and the first time, he was super pleasant. Then, I started to feel like I was a low priority because he sensed I couldn't buy a flashy new bike. Sorry, I love my old, trusty road bike, and I don't need something new. I disregarded my read of him and chalked it up to my own insecurities about not being a big ticket customer. One late afternoon, I picked up my bike. The tech was obviously stressed and overworked. More concerning, I noted there were empty beer bottles in the trash near the workstation and wondered if all the employees had been drinking all day. Once again, I told myself to ignore and mind my business. When I jumped on my bike, the gears were still clicking and sticking, as if nothing was done. I seriously think they did nothing to my bike and charged me for it. I went to another bike shop after that and never went back. When this happened, I was upset. I thought about calling and asking to speak to a manager, and I looked up reviews to see if anyone else noticed the same. I then saw how Christian or whoever manages reviews tends to claim that every negative reviewer threatened his staff or used curse words, and I got scared to speak up. I doubt every single one star review is not credible since he took over acted that way. And if they did, maybe they were at the wits end like me. The reason I decided to finally post this is because my new bike shop moved to a new location, and Finish Line came over to their old location and put a sign next to their "we've moved" sign and tried to mislead customers into going to finish line. I seriously cannot believe how brazen that is. My new shop is incredible and much smaller than this place, and the fact that finish line is so desperate for new customers that they'd take advantage of a fellow shop in our cycling community is literally disgusting. I haven't seen this kind of behavior in so long. What are they thinking? In closing, I would recommend that that you look up some other shops around and see if you can find a better place to shop. And no, I never told finish line about my experience, nor have I cussed anyone out or threatened anyone if he claims that in review response. Do your homework and support better people. The staff talked to me like I was a long time customer, which I will be now. They gave me advice for my bike needs that was genuine and not a push for sales. I went to get my bike "fitted" to fit my body (I did not buy my bike from their store). I can not say enough good things about this place! Every single person on staff was kind and helpful and friendly! They answered all my questions, fixed my bike to the right size, had me take it for multiple spins to make sure everything was good! I did not pay anything for their time or services!! Also, in case you didn't know, they are a perfect pit stop when riding on the bike path- they have water, gatorade, protein shakes, snacks, even popsicles!!!!! I never write reviews. The service was absolutely horrible. They treated me bad when I didn't know what I needed. I had a bike that I paid for them to replace both my tubes and they only replaced one even after the explicit conformation to do both. Don't get me started on the e-bike prices. They are absolutely ridiculous. Who in the world is going to pay 15000$ for a bike when you can get the same exact motors on Amazon for 120$! I work on e-skateboards a lil the time and see 1800 watt skateboards for under 1k. The e-bikes they sell are all over 7k for a single 350w motor and a somewhat decent battery. I was having trouble with my shifters so I went to Finish Line today. They were really friendly and helpful. The mechanic, James took care of my bike straight away and fixed the problem then gave me a quick lesson on shifters that was really informative. My son destroyed the derailleur on his bike. I needed a place to get it fixed. I saw your sign damning communism, and the politician running for it, so I had to try your business. I brought it in, multiple employees said hi and pointed me to the parts counter. Even though I didn't buy the bike there, I was helped right away. I was given an estimate and said it will be ready Tuesday. The price seemed very reasonable. I received a text on Tuesday. I went after work to get it and the price was lower than I was quoted. My son says the his bike runs better than when it was new. My family will be making our future bike purchases and or repairs at your shop. I prefer to support local businesses. read more

Friendly, competent, reasonably priced. We came from out of town (Tehachapi) to get a fraying derailleur cable replaced. They took us without an appointment on a Saturday afternoon and quickly had it replaced and adjusted, plus inspected the rest of the bike and adjusted the brakes and front derailleur, all for a nominal price and with a smile. We then hopped on the Kern River trail that is literally right out their door and had a great ride. read more

After a really crappy experience at Snider's the staff at Finish Line were 1000 times better than Snider's Super helpful store was super clean with enough inventory to out fit you for the road. Covid lockdown forced me to go from being a bodybuilder to getting in home workouts and I hate cardio but wanted something competitive I could do indoors competing against others. Which led me to an indoor cycling program called Zwift. I needed a Bicycle for this to hook up to and the store owner helped me pick the right size bike for me. Made sure it was made out of the metal type that would best serve my purpose. Adjusted the seat and handlebars for me and taught me about maintenance and how to use the bike since I had zero experience. (I had already planned to leave a good review at this point but just wanted to get some experience under my belt with the bike first) I needed some help a few days after getting the bike and went back in and felt i received help again from the owner this time i feel going above and beyond for me. Before he was selling me the right bicycle this time he was just giving me pure customer service that was beyond his requirement. My fitness is always important to me and with the lockdown many people have found it easy to make an excuse to gain 15 lbs and it be ok. I will now be able to come out of this lockdown healthier and more fit than i did before and this guy helped me out in so many ways more than just getting me the right bike. Seems like an honest good dude who was very patient with me and my lack of knowledge and lots of questions and ill go here again next time I need ANYTHING for my bike in the future. read more

I've known the new owner for years and can't say enough about Christian. His knowledge os second to none, and truly has the customers interest at heart every time. Absolutely the worst business. They quoted me two prices to fix my flat, so I opted and agreed to the more robust option. They told me to return in approximately one hour, which I did. Upon my return they told me they didn't have what I opted for. They said they went ahead and fixed it with the less expensive option. But here's where things go sideways. Rudest Customer Service. We were told by one staff member there was no way to tell Weight of a bike. Then another staff said they had a scale, but since it was "just a kids bike" and they were busy they wouldn't weigh it for us.
