Downtown Ventura, in the area where Finney's is located is very appealing to me. The streets are blocked off to vehicles so only pedestrians and cyclists can access the streets. It's quiet, slow, and calm. When my wife and I arrived it was mid afternoon and not busy. The employees appeared to be just getting their legs under them so we were not seated immediately. But, an observant young lady took initiative and got us seated with less wait time than anticipated. After that, the service, food, and ambiance was very good. We certainly enjoyed our lunch and a walk today. Finny's was the meet up place, down on Main Street. This section was closed to automobile traffic, most of the stores were closed on Tuesday. We were Seated immediately at a booth by the window, nice. This is a nice place, lots of light, very high ceilings, and a long bar I found quite a few menu items that looked pretty good. Nachos arrived to get us started, M had a long board pepperoni pizza. I ordered the safe Cobb Salad, which had plenty of Cobb stuff. V ordered a jalapeño burger. Stopped in solo for a late lunch and ended up having one of those perfect Ventura afternoons. Sat at the bar and ordered the double smash burger with sweet potato fries and a Booshcraft kombucha. Everything landed just right. The burger was juicy, flavorful, and cooked perfectly with that crispy smash edge. The sweet potato fries were hot and crispy, and the dipping sauce with a hint of horseradish took them over the top. I also had the Brussels sprouts with bacon, which were smoky, slightly sweet, and easily a standout. What really makes this place special is the energy. Even walking in alone, you don't stay solo for long. I ended up chatting with some girls visiting from Santa Clarita, and it turned into one of those easy, feel-good conversations that just fits the moment. Friendly service, fast kitchen, great atmosphere. Afterward I walked down to the beach to clear my head, and it honestly made the whole experience even better. Back in Ventura again. This time we knew to go straight to Finney's. After our last visit we tried out 2 more. Both closer to where we live in Carlsbad. One in Redlands and the other very close to us in Oceanside. But here in Ventura the beer selection ( especially IPAs) is much better than the other 2 locations. Surprisingly the Oceanside location didn't have the high end beers that make up North county San Diego.Redlands we understand. Limited brewerys near by. But Oceanside has many. Now back to Ventura Finny's. Amazing beers not only poured perfectly " maybe even better than the local breweries that make it" . Then there's the cost. Finny's is $1 to $2 bucks less than the breweries. Add that to the fact you can drink all of them in one location with great food and you have just recovered Ventura's best kept secret. Price, quality food and all the best from the locals Brewery. That's been our experience here. Yes,there's one more thing that sets Ventura's Finny's apart from the rest. Staff. I have been multiple times after my last review and have loved it. The Happy Hour prices are amazing!!!! I went for happy hour. We got the Carnitas nachos and pep flat bread for $9 each. Both delicious and enough for my friend and I. We were stuffed. We grabbed a drink before our table was ready and it was good. I had no idea they had an upstairs area to chill. We loved it . Excellent Monday afternoon happy hour with great service by Ozzy. Came to Finney's around 4 on a Monday for some happy hour drinks with my wife and dog. We each enjoyed margaritas, the Skinny Marg and Guava Marg. Both were refreshing and not overly sweet. We also ate a small order of their truffle fries, which were complimented nicely by the spicy ketchup. Big thank you to Ozzy, who greeted us within seconds of sitting down and was quick to tend to our table! Ozzy was very kind and welcoming, even with us being at a far table in the patio. He made sure our dog was taken care of as well, bringing her a dog water and suggesting a patty for her to enjoy while we sat and drank. Good portions, wide craft brew menu, casual ambience in the heart of Ventura Main St. Friendly service by ALL the staff too! Overall 4.0++ rated, expect to pay $~15pp for meals with sides and apps as xtras. Our dinner started with Carnitas Nachos (share for 4 or have as a meal); YUM, freshly made generous plate with carnitas, avocado, melted cheese, pico and red spicy jalapeño slices. Also tried their Asian Charred Brussel Sprouts - slightly well done and bit heavy on sauce flavor but good for veggie option. Checked out this spot from a recommendation from a colleague. Did takeout so can only comment about that. Ahi tacos appetizers: truly mini - they're small but tasty, loved the dip, enjoyed the crunch and fish Blackened Shrimp tacos - recommended by someone in line, it wasn't bad and decent but I enjoyed the ahi tacos more. Biggest complaint was that there was a hair wrapped in the shrimp... likely an accident but off putting - I have black hair but much shorter than the one in the food so I know it wasn't mine. Our group of seven recently celebrated a birthday here, after attempting a place across the street. It turned into one of those unexpectedly great dining experiences. From the moment we sat down, the atmosphere felt upbeat, welcoming, and perfect for a celebration. They have televisions for those craving sports, like me. Our server, Kira, was attentive without hovering, warm, professional, and incredibly efficient. Drinks came out quickly, food was timed perfectly, and she checked in just enough to make sure we were taken care of while letting us enjoy our evening. "On point" is honestly the best way to describe her service. Food-wise, the report card from around the table was that everything impressed. We started with Coconut Shrimp, we had two orders of this. They were crispy, golden, and full of sweet tropical flavor. Everyone said their entrée selections hit. The Bacon & Blue Burger was juicy, flavorful, and loaded with toppings, while the Cheesesteak Sandwich was hearty and satisfying, my order! The Tater Tots were just 'so, so' for my liking, but my wife enjoyed the Onion Rings, which were hot, crunchy, and surprisingly memorable for side items. Lots of windows offering a much welcome cool breeze on a hot day. There is a huge selection of craft beers. Most importantly they have Coca Cola. Pepsi is not my jam. We ordered the pastrami with a side of onion rings, a pepperoni flat bread pizza and a philly like steak sandwich. Sandwiches come with chips. My There are a lot of appetizers. If my tummy were big enough I would of had the pretzel, deviled eggs with bacon or brussel sprouts. Service was fantastic. Paying is easy at the table top kiosk. Prices are reasonable. Finally getting around the writing this review! I always wanted to try the Valencia location, but we ended up coming here to this one in December 2025 for my sister's birthday. To begin, this evening was incredibly busy inside it seemed at first and noisy but they had a big booth in the back of the restaurant which was a large, round-ish table that was an adventure to get in and out of! (Nightmare) They had already gotten waters, as we were a bit late but after we arrived it was quite some time before a server came back around, which was a lady who dropped a beer off at the table even with all our confused faces (nobody ordered beer) and then finally a guy came around and he took our drink orders but was very rushed to take our food order it seemed. He came back 2 more times in 5 minutes after not seeing him for so long, to again ask if we decided yet. One of the times, taking the beer declaring it was actually for someone outside. When we said we'd like to split tabs he said "YOU DO IT ON THE MACHINE" literally shouting because, let me warn you- this place is LOUD. We thought "okay- we'll sort that later." We ordered, and my sister's food ended up being too spicy for her. The house spread itself was spicy, as confirmed by the resident spice lover of our family, "it has a kick" so it was HOT for her, so she didn't end up finishing her burger. My daughter ordered chicken and waffle bites because she wasn't feeling the menu, which is advertised as "buttermilk fried chicken, sriracha maple butter" - odd but okay so we just asked if we could have the butter on the side (incase she didn't like it) he said that's fine- but then the waffles came soaked in turkey gravy? (He said it was gravy but I don't know what it was because it didn't taste like gravy or butter) And then a little silver bowl of just real maple syrup? It was just the most confusing disgusting goopy mess! Waffles, just sitting in a ladle of indescript gelatinous stuff! We asked the server if maybe we got something wrong or a different order? He sassily said "IT SAYS IT COMES LIKE THAT- THAT'S HOW IT IS" *eyeroll* and I was like "I don't think it said there was gravy? I knew it said spicy butter" But he'd already taken the menu, and I'm not one to argue with a server about their menu, so he gaslit me into thinking I misread it. I just asked if she could have the 2 waffles that were soggy messes replaced without the gravy and he finally brought them out but everyone was mostly done by that point. I ended up looking at the menu, and it doesn't say anything about gravy. (Pic attached) The machine upstairs took our dollar, server said she'd find a manager to get it back for us, and she never did. Photobooth stopped printing the 4th picture on the roll? Just black every time after the first set. I don't know about this place. Definitely not this location. Vibe felt chaotic, rushed, and loud. But by the time we left basically no one was there? Just the music up still so loud. Oh and you can't split the check- only evenly 2 ways or evenly 3 ways. We were left to figure that fun out. Stopped into Finney's Craft House while visiting Ventura, and there's definitely some good to note even if it wasn't a place I see myself returning to. First off, the drinks were great. Well-made, flavorful, and a solid selection to choose from. On top of that, the service was genuinely wonderful -- friendly, attentive, and on point the entire visit. It's always refreshing when a staff really elevates the experience. Food-wise, I tried the craft burger along with the poke nachos. Both were tasty, but the portion sizes felt noticeably small for the price. Not necessarily a deal-breaker for everyone, but something to be aware of if you come hungry. The ambiance was nice -- casual, comfortable, and exactly what you'd expect from a modern craft house. Still, between the smaller portions and overall value, it didn't leave enough of an impression for me to rush back. Great food and service as per all Finney's locations, bad experience leaving. We ordered a ton of food as we came for my dad's birthday lunch and ended up with a lot of leftovers. One of the leftover boxes had about 3/4 of leftover nachos, and half of a burger in it. It's clearly very heavy and filled to the brim. That leftover box got left on the table when we walked away for maybe max 2 minutes. We literally walked across the street, realized we didn't have it, and walked back. They told me they cleared the table and threw it away. Just a "sorry, they thought it was trash". I understand if it had been left behind for a considerable amount of time, but why would they think that a to-go container completely filled to the brim is trash within 2 minutes of us leaving? Also we were sitting out on the patio on a fairly cold and breezy day because we had a dog, so literally no other patio seats were being used. Why wouldn't they set the leftovers aside for even 5-10 minutes to see if the guests came back for it?? Now we're leaving his birthday lunch annoyed and feeling jipped. Absolute worst, they were busy so they referred me to the bar, to take a to go order, as there was a 20 minute wait, to sit. No biggie, I did not have a problem, ordering to go, at all, though I felt like I was bothering them, as they were actually quite busy. I finally asked someone if they could help me with a to*go order and one of the bartenders said, I can take your order. Clearly going off memory only, because there was no writing down my order or anything, even specifics, as he was filling drinks and walking around the bar, while taking my order, hence my extremely inaccurate order. The food was incredibly cold, and nothing I asked for was given, and I did not ask for much. I asked for a certain aïoli and I got ketchup, bbq sauce & marinara sauce (this came with my french fries, like what?) I actually asked for NO bacon, on my burger and there was bacon all over it. The french fries and onion rings were very cold, in fact, the french fries were already HARD. I waited 23 minutes, which wasn't crazy, but finally my daughter said to "pls go ask mom" and yes, it was ready. They did say they would call my name, when it was done, so not sure how long it sat there, but again, very cold and the fries were already hard. The inaccuracy of the order was a bummer, especially when I tipped as if I was actually sitting at a table. I even asked the bartender/order taker, specifically, to PLEASE not forget my aïoli, after i paid, and he assured me he would not forget. It was completely forgotten. In fact pretty sure I was charged for it, & most likely, he never even went back to my order, after taking it, as I asked a random waiter to go check for me. Oh well, I just know, not to go back. The food here is pretty good. They make a spicy ketchup in house that's quite tasty. The prosciutto and arugula pizza with hot honey is yummy! I'm honestly surprised to see such a high rating. Maybe our experience was by chance. But after this visit, I'm done eating at Finneys. Upon arriving, the hostess was sweet, letting us know our table would be ready shortly. It was downhill from there. I try to give people the benefit of the doubt, but it seemed like our server had zero people skills. Like, none. She wouldn't even make eye contact with us when she spoke to us, and made it clear we could pay on the little tablet device when we were done eating (she didn't want to bothered to see us again, I suppose). She came to our table once: to half-heartedly greet us and take our order all in one visit. Then we received our food from someone different. When our food arrived, my son's plate was dirty, had food smudges from something other than what was ordered on one side of the plate. Perhaps a sauce of some sort? It was gross, if I'm being totally honest. Both my kids ordered berries as their side, and typically order this side. Well, there was maybe 8 berries in total on each kids' plate. It looked like someone was snacking on them before they brought out the plates. Aside from skimping out on the berries, they were also dirty, unwashed. Yes, visible dirt on the berries. When it came to my plate, my food wasn't hot, my fries were cool. Definitely not fresh and must have been sitting at the window for a while. My husband asked for a side of ranch, it did not come out with the rest of our food. Like I mentioned earlier, our server only visited our table that first initial time so we never had the opportunity to ask for said ranch or get refills for our beverages. It was only when we left when a different employee asked if we needed a box (as we carried out our leftovers in the wax paper sack the fries came in, because our server couldn't be bothered to come back and check on us). We let her know about our experience briefly and she offered to bring out a manager to talk to us, but honestly, based on our entire experience, we were ready to leave at this point. I don't typically take the time to write a review, but we also had a similar experience when we went to the Camarillo location a few months ago. Are these ran by the same manager? Anyhow, Finney's, you use to be good. Now, not only is your service awful, but your food is mediocre at best. I cannot honestly imagine that you have an A rating from the health department, but if you do, good job, you must have fooled them well. read more

In general all the food I've had here has been pretty good. It's a cool restaurant. Very nice building service tends to be quick. Had the black and blue burger, which was very good with the onion rings. My wife had the impossible salad which she loved. He also had the tuna crispy rice appetizer, which was not nearly as good as what you would typically get in a sushi restaurant I would probably pick something else. read more

The restaurant is beautiful inside on Main Street where there are dozens of well deserving restaurants competing for our business. We went there for the first time about 3 years ago. Service was, well anything, but. Servers were too busy talking amonst themselves and we seemed more of a distraction than a patron. We ordered a pizza. The pizza came to us with balsamic vinegar on it. Balsomic vinegar wasn't on the menu and we didn't ask for it. They very reluctantly made us another one...but after stating that we shouldn't have to pay for both pizzas with the servers and a manager. We paid it and vowed to never go back. We decided to try it again today. It was awesome. Servers were great! There is an employee named Maria that was RIGHT on it and jumped in cleaned tables, checked on us and all over the place. We found out that Maria just started 4 days ago and is/one of the managers, what are the chances that we took a chance...!!! Her and the others were top notch. read more
