Terrific! Visiting Ventura for a few days so stopped by here for lunch on a lowkey Monday afternoon. Not a single complaint to be had. The blueberry margarita and limoncello beverages were my two drinks of choice, recommended by our lovely waitress Bethany. I liked my drinks a little sweet and girly and both fit that vibe. Shared some oysters with the wife and some crab cakes, they all hit the spot and were solid appetizers to start with. I also got a cup of clam chowder before my main meal. One of the better clam chowders I've had to date. Nice and creamy, fresh and satisfying, it almost had me wishing I ordered a bowl instead. My wife tried mine too and had to order her own right after. The lobster roll with some fries was my main course. So good! The bun was lightly toasted and crisp and the lobster was just sweet and buttery without being too heavy. Very satisfying. And then finally I had to wrap things up with a dessert. Their strawberry basque cheesecake was the easy choice for me. This is the kind of dessert where everyone says they're just going to have a bite and suddenly half of it is gone. I'm glad I split it because I could have easily indulged and eaten the whole thing on my own if the temptation was there. And again, service was excellent. It wasn't particularly busy when we were there. The drinks came in a little slow because there was only one bartender and the bar was busy but otherwise, our waitress checked in on us a healthy amount of times to see if we needed anything or to refill our waters. We sat outside so nice ambiance too. We went to three restaurants while visiting this area and this was the only one I really felt compelled to write a review for. Certainly recommend it. read more

My absolute favorite place in town. It never disappoints I have been here so many times and have always had good quality of food. Anytime we have guests out of town, we bring them here because we know the food is always gonna be good and fresh. We have been here no more times however they're happy hour is our favorite, even when we go during non-happy hour, we still order the items from the happy hour because they're just so good. Their bread is always so fresh. A must have from their menu is pop rock shrimp, oysters are always amazing. Their sliders is a new menu item and it is really good. We usually get two sliders with one fries. Clam chowder is also on their happy hour and it is amazing We have had so many dishes, including their salads, lobster, ravioli, tequila, lime, shrimp, sand is another favorite of mine One thing I wish they would change back is their spicy seafood ceviche, they used to have it better however they changed the recipe slightly. We used to enjoy their tacos more however they have also changed the recipe. Whatever you will get here, you will not be disappointed. I highly recommend them. OMG ... Lure is probably one of my favorite spots in VC def a Top Happy Hour. The food is great. Customer service is top notch. The restaurant is beautiful! Eddie was our waiter today and he truly went above and beyond to ensure we were enjoying ourselves! He's a star ! I had to get the lobster ravioli with a side of sautéed cauliflower. So good and my favorite thing to get at Lure at the moment ! My friend got the Ahi ceviche. Big portions and absolutely delicious! For dessert we could not pass on the strawberry basque cheesecake! Lure fish house is always worth the wait. I've been to the one in Santa Barbara several times and the location here delivered amazing food like always. My husband and I came on a Saturday and was quoted 35 minutes for a wait. I recommend going to the bar like us if you want to skip it. Sally's sand dab - 5/5. My go-to for a reason. It's lightly breaded with capers and a nice garlic and Parmesan sauce. It's not too heavy and is always so tasty. I got it with the pineapple coleslaw and butternut squash. I would probably sub the butternut squash with fries or another side next time. Charbroiled oysters - 5/5. I didn't get it this time, but these are a must have and my favorite. If the texture of oysters are less pleasant to you, this helps a lot while giving it a lot of flavor. Sea bass - my husband got this from the daily catch with the potato cake and spinach. He said he enjoyed it but would opt for something else in the future considering the smaller portion of the sea bass. Overall, this is a really nice restaurant to bring family and friends too. Came here for a friend's birthday party of 12 we were seated outside and sat down by 6:15 PM. Lovely day. Heaters were great especially when the sun went down and got a little chilly. I wanna start off by saying our server was amazing. Such a great gentleman, so funny and happy go lucky and now onto the food just great quality amazing and fresh I personally ordered the calamari, the popcorn, shrimp and the swordfish that was super tender amazing and so good! I got the CHIPOTLE SHRIMP TACO organic corn tortilla, spicy slaw, avocado salsa, salsa roja. She got the CRISPY BAJA COD TACO organic corn tortilla, spicy slaw, salsa roja, avocado salsa, pickled onions and she started with a strong Bloody Mary. Lure is my favorite fish place in Ventura! The dishes are always fresh and the service is friendly and efficient at the same time! If you can get there for happy hour, it's a great way to sample many things while saving some money, but anytime is a good time to go when you want great seafood. This trip, I tried a few new items like the clam chowder and Louie salad (both excellent), as well as the tried and true oysters, fish tacos, sole, crab cakes, calamari, and of course their fabulous Bloody Mary. Every plate was not only pleasing to the eyes, but the freshness of the ingredients and the creativity of the chef made every bite a pleasure. Parking was easy across the street & thru the alley, in the lot with many 4-hr parking spots. Sarah was super warm from the moment we sat down to when we left. Friendly, spot on service, & such lovely energy! She gave us some recommendations - which were really helpful bc there are so many great-sounding things on the menu. We loved everything we tried: Bacon cheddar biscuits - the crunchy bottom crust, the bits of bacon throughout the tender middles, & the sticky glazed/chive topped tops were so so good. The whipped goat cheese butter was almost unnecessary. A must get! We saw others with baskets of fresh sourdough bread - we didn't get any, but we will next time. Sally's sand dabs - a generous amount of lightly floured, delicate wild caught fish with a delicious lemon butter caper sauce. My pineapple coleslaw & parm potato cake were excellent sides. This was super good. Grilled rockfish tacos - 2 large tacos, with our chosen side of miso brussel sprouts. Delicious, with big pieces of super fresh rockfish. Roasted butternut squash - this side of mapley glazed, heavily garlicky squash was delicious. There were a few lesser roasted pieces of squash mixed in but the ones that were more soft & roasty made it all delicious. The covered outside patio was slightly breezy & the option to have the heaters on or off was nice. Walking thru the inside, I saw their beautiful full-service bar & the inside booths. Really, all were nice places to sit in any of the spots. Restaurant manager Kevin brought out a couple of our dishes & said hello, asking how our meals were. Nice! Great food, menu choices for carnivores, pescatarians, veggies, kids, really everyone. Add to that the easy parking & warm service & that makes this one of my fave places in the area. Everything was so delicious. We ordered 8 raw oysters, fish and chips, tuna ceviche, small clam chowder, and lobster roll and we FINISHED it all (only 2 of us) we didn't even have to bring any to go. The fish was so crispy and no stinky smell. The lobster was also fresh on a buttery bun! The best part is the oysters and the ceviche. Stopped by Lure while visiting Ventura for the fishing expo and had a great experience overall. Service was excellent from start to finish. Our server was friendly, attentive, knowledgeable about the oysters, and honestly one of the highlights of the meal. Started with oysters. The Morro Bay oysters were definitely my favorite. Buttery, clean, and super easy to eat. 5/5. We also tried another variety that the server described as more briny and oceany, which ended up not really being my thing, but I appreciated the honest recommendation beforehand. The New England clam chowder was great. Rich, creamy, comforting, and they offered fresh ground pepper to your liking at the table which was a nice touch. 5/5. I ordered the cod fish and chips and the cod itself was excellent. Light crispy batter, flaky fish, not greasy at all. Definitely the standout entrée for me. 5/5. The dill horseradish sauce was also fantastic and paired perfectly with the fish. 5/5. Only disappointment of the meal was the fries. They came out soft and soggy instead of crispy. Ate maybe 3 fries and left the rest behind. 1/5 on those unfortunately. One thing worth mentioning: my friend paid the tab and always leaves a flat 10% tip no matter what. The service here deserved much more than that, so I ended up leaving extra cash on the table because our server genuinely did a great job. Our dinner was excellent and shout out to our server Rolo who was so nice and very attentive! My husband loved his Bloody Mary and my wine was wonderful! My husband had the halibut and chose double parmigian potato cakes all very tasty, the fish was cooked perfectly! We were a little disappointed that for $42 the portion of fish was so small? I don't think it was even 5 ounces. Last time he had the halibut here it was a significantly larger portion ‍ I has the Miso Salmon Bowl which also was delicious but unfortunately my fish was overcooked. I know our server placed the order for it to be cooked medium because he asked how I'd like it cooked and he praised my choice-unfortunately it came out well done. Totally out of his control...(and I've ordered this a couple other times we've dined here - it's my favorite! When I mentioned it to him he offered to have them re-make it and I told him it was still tasty and since I was so hungry I didn't want to wait. He even offered a complimentary dessert which was so nice but I'm off sugar so I said no thank you. He ended up comping my salmon! I absolutely did not expect that and told him how very thoughtful and generous that was and I never would have asked for that. We always love the food here but it seems too often the cooks overcook our food. They've always made it right and that's why we always come back! My first impression of Lure Fish House really set the tone for our visit. Perfect combination of luxury vibes and beachy blue/grey tones and decor. Service was quick and friendly. They had happy hour running when we visited, which meant bar seating only I ended up ordering from the regular menu because I I'm a sucker for a crispy chicken sandwich. What set this crispy chicken sandwich apart from others I've had in the past was their hot honey. That crunchy, juicy chicken with a golden crust, then that sweet heat that creeps in at the end. It's savory, sweet, and slightly spicy in the best way. Every bite was addicting. It's definitely a bit messy to eat, but that's a small price to pay for how good it tastes. I've been to Lure multiple times and have generally enjoyed my experiences, which is why this visit was especially disappointing. My father and I came to celebrate Father's Day, and the service we received from the waitress working the bar area was unacceptable. Throughout our meal, she was dismissive, short with us, and repeatedly acted as though helping us was an inconvenience. We were ignored for extended periods and had to flag her down several times just to get basic service. What bothered me most was the attitude. She rolled her eyes on multiple occasions and seemed visibly annoyed whenever we asked a question or needed assistance. It made us feel unwelcome and uncomfortable during what was supposed to be a special Father's Day outing. I completely understand that holidays are busy and restaurants can get overwhelmed. However, being busy doesn't excuse treating guests with disrespect. We were polite, patient, and simply expected the same level of service that Lure has provided in the past. The food was fine, but the service left such a negative impression that it overshadowed the entire experience. I feel like lure fish house is always a hit. My usual location is the Santa Barbara one but I was closer to the Ventura location so I decided to give it a try to see if the flavors were consistent between the locations. Spoiler alert: the flavors were consistent! I ordered the Baja Kanpachi which came with two sides. I chose the sweet potato fries and the cilantro corn salad. The Kanpachi tasted fresh, buttery and was well seasoned. The sweet potato fries were fresh and sweet and didn't taste like it was from a bag of frozen fries. The cilantro corn salad also tasted very fresh and paired nicely with the Kanpachi. Service was decent. This location has less seating than the one in Santa Barbara and is much smaller. They have a lot of outdoor seating though. There is free parking located in the parking structure right behind lure fish house. Would recommend! read more

We had a really enjoyable visit overall, with some standout items and a few inconsistencies. Drinks were a big win, my extra dirty martini was delicious, the hazy IPA hit the spot, and both the limoncello martini and the Lure martini (with grapefruit juice) were excellent and well-balanced. The bread alone is worth coming back for, absolutely to die for. We also loved the oysters (Kumamoto & Misty Point), super fresh and flavorful. Food was a bit more mixed beyond that. The crispy calamari was just okay, the tomato sauce was a little runny, though the aioli was tasty. The calamari itself was a bit chewy, slightly greasy, and lacked seasoning. The Baja fish taco was solid, and the chipotle shrimp was interesting, we noticed the last one we had (right at the end of happy hour) actually looked better than the first, which speaks a bit to the inconsistency. That said, the service was EXCELLENT. Madeline was awesome, attentive, friendly, and really elevated the whole experience. Overall, this place feels like it wants to be 5 stars, it definitely has the potential, but right now it's hovering around a 4 due to some inconsistency. Stopped in for lunch with a friend. We were greeted when we entered and offered our choice of seating. The host staff were very friendly. This location is situated nearby quaint retail stores and more. There are plenty of free parking lots nearby. This is a large location with indoor and outdoor seating as well as a bar area and oyster bar seating. We ordered the fish and chips and a salad listed as a Fall Harvest Salad with the ingredients listed as such, Chili dusted butternut squash, goat cheese, beets, quinoa, kale, pepitas, maple vinaigrette. Seeing as the kale is listed late in the list we expected it to be more butternut squash and beets. However it was a huge kale salad with some of the other ingredients added. We were defintely disappointed with the end result. The wild cod fish and chips were very good. Loved the fries. We will be back as there are so many other options we need to try. read more

Lure Fish House restaurants are fabulous establishments! I've been to the one in Santa Barbara(really beautiful) and now this location. They have wonderful ambiance and atmosphere with good food. They have a great happy hour and some of the best customer service in the restaurant business!! Everyone was delightful, wonderful and Caleb M. was exceptional. His attention to detail and service was top notch. He didn't miss anything and they are very lucky to have him at this location. The clam chowder was really good and served smoking hot!! 3 bucks a cup during happy hour cannot be beat!!! The fresh, hot sourdough bread is pretty dangerous!! That's some very good complimentary bread! Great combination with the chowder. The calamari was just okay, nothing to write home about on Yelp. The fish and chips is pretty solid. Nice light batter and tasty fish. The shrimp are good as well. You get 3 pieces of fish or if you get the fish and shrimp combo, you lose one piece of fish and get 3 shrimp in return. $5 up charge for this combo switch. Good housemade tartar sauce as well. I don't usually like shoestring fries in particular, but Lure's FH are good. They leave a little skin on and season them up well. I'm obsessed with their oyster bar, especially the Grassy Bar oysters and the charbroiled oysters. I always order the house-made chowder 50/50, it's half Classic New England and half Veracruz fish chowder. It's rich, flavorful, and truly the best of both worlds. I'm a big fan of their shared plates, which is where Lure really shines. Favorites include the bacon cheddar biscuits with whipped honey goat cheese, crab cakes, and a classic Caesar salad that never disappoints. Everything is well-executed and perfect for sharing. Their specialty cocktails are also worth ordering and pair well with the food, especially during happy hour. The vibe is lively but not overwhelming, making it perfect for after-work drinks or a casual dinner with friends. I personally love sitting at the bar or oyster bar, it's the best way to experience the space. Service has always been friendly and efficient, Parking is easy too. We ordered 2 grilled rock fish tacos, 1 seafood ceviche, and the charbroiled oysters. Everything was so flavorful and did not disappoint!! Tacos were a 10/10, I find that grilled ones can be bland or dry sometimes but this one had all the right spices and sauce pairings but didn't over shine the fish! The charbroiled oysters were our favorite, another 10/10!! Loaded with garlic and butter but not overwhelming or overcooked, the texture was perfect and the flavor was spot on. It wasn't fishy at all and was very fresh. Pro tip, use the garlic butter to dip the table bread . The ceviche was a 7/10 for us, a little too much lime and could've used more salt and seasoning but overall was definitely really fresh. Could use a couple more chips as well. The value at Lure is unbeatable, for 2 people our meal costs $30! It's also located in such a great spot with plenty of shops around downtown Ventura. I really enjoyed the visit. The food was phenomenal. I got the lime shrimp pasta. The portion is large and I couldn't finish! Would work for two. Partner got the burger as he's not big on seafood. He gives it an 8/10. The garlic pasta with chicken was pretty good as well. (Normally comes with some kind of shellfish) Friend ordered and I sampled. The anacapa tower was so good!! The albacore ponzu was addicting and I would come back just for that! I didn't get the muscles but was told they were good. The civeche was good too, a little spicy. We wanted to celebrate Mother's Day here and we were worried because we know they can be quite busy, which they were. The waitress wasn't too bad (name? Darn) and we had a good experience considering it was a holiday. We usually ask for the older man Joel, he is so attentive and knows the menu well and will make suggestions! I love that because I can be so indecisive. We all enjoyed our meal. My son loves their charred oysters and the halibut is my new favorite. Always Seasoned and cooked to perfection. Came when summer was about to end. Felt like every location had good reviews n this particular location didn't disappoint. I was sad that they closed street parking in the front bcoz the pandemic ruined it. The parking structure nearby was fairly packed n spaces were small. The restaurant was pretty big. Best part was I didn't have to wait. We came for lunch. Service was pretty good n attentive. We ordered half dozen raw oysters. We ordered all three types that they offered. By far the best one was the Kumamoto oyster. It was 5 cents more but well worth it. Size was bigger n a nice balance of briny n sweetness. Also got spicy seafood ceviche. Easy choice was I'm a sucker for anything ceviche. The refreshing taste of the shrimp n the fish along w the chili peppers mixed in w some sourness matched perfectly w the tortilla chips. Also ordered the hamachi crudo. The 6 pcs of hamachi tasted fresh and the presentation was spot on. We added the lobster roll. The bun was good and the portion of the lobster was generous. The tequila lime shrimp pasta was not bad but it wasn't special either. Probably the only dish that was not worth the price however. Nothing in it stood out. Under the daily catch menu, I got the pacific rockfish. The fish just didn't taste as good grilled as it was steamed like how it was prepared in the seafood ceviche. However the 2 sides of sautéed spinach (amazing) n corn salad were able to save the dish. Overall, I liked this establishment. We had lunch with our friends and were very disappointed with our meals (my husband and me). The service was excellent...our waitress was very nice and helpful. Amazingly, it wasn't loud and noisy like it can be! I had ordered the Lobster Roll with grilled spinach as a side and my husband ordered the Fresh water Cod fish and chips. My Roll was very tasty and had lots of meat in the bun BUT the meat was SO chewy....not tender at all!!!! My husband's Cod was also tough; he was so disappointed as at first he loved the batter they used, BUT discovered that the fist was tough!!! Also, my grilled spinach was so tough that I was afraid if I didn't chew and chew to break it down I could choke on it!!!! I was very disappointed because I LOVE Lobster rolls!!
