The service is very good and the Servers are always glad to tell you about items on the menu that you have never tried before. The ambiance really goes well with the food. Overbooked intentionally on Valentine's Day, cold food, and zero accountability I rarely leave negative reviews, but this experience was unacceptable--especially for Valentine's Day, when restaurants know people are choosing their establishment for an important night. Our food took an hour and a half to arrive. During that time, our waiter was extremely loud and obnoxious, creating an uncomfortable atmosphere rather than a welcoming one. There was no meaningful communication or apology for the delay. When the food finally arrived, it was cold and completely lacked flavor, which made the long wait even more frustrating. For the prices charged, the quality was nowhere near acceptable. What concerned me most was overhearing staff openly tell another customer that they had intentionally overbooked the night but "didn't know it would be this bad." That statement alone explains the entire experience. This wasn't an accident--it was a conscious decision to prioritize volume over service and quality. Valentine's Day is predictable. Restaurants know it's one of the busiest nights of the year. If you choose to overbook intentionally, you are responsible for maintaining service standards. Tonight, those standards were nowhere to be found. This experience showed a lack of planning, professionalism, and respect for customers' time and money. It's hard for me to write this review after all the years we have been going to Finn's. We've not been since John sold it but it's sad. The only positive thing I can say is that the bartender was nice and the Irish spin dip with homemade potato chips was great. The rest..not so good. It took over 30 mins to get another order of chips when we ran out and over an hour for food. We order scallops and being a seafood guy. I would've expected something tremendously different. Zero flavoring from the scallops on top of some green mash that had zero flavor as well. If they're going to survive, they really need to find a better Kitchen because at one point I offered up to go in the kitchen and cook my stuff and I'm assured I would have had a better flavor by just seasoning a little bit. Unfortunately I had the worst dining experience of my life here. After being seated, we waited two hours without ever getting our food. Our server was MIA most of the night, they took our order twice but we still never were served food. After sitting for two hours they comped us 2 drinks and that was it. There's no excuse for this. Always a great meal ..appetizers are the bomb and then there's music! The atmosphere is the best with your choice of rooms to please your liking from the green room which is cozy but allows you to view the band and bar life... all the rooms are great actually! The atmosphere is fun and the history to this haunted mansion has a story to tell on the back of the menu. Mussels served only Friday and Saturday... my fav! But all the fare is good. Finn's has hit the wall. Poor service, constantly changing menu with confusing items. Co-owner insists on being in the kitchen although he can't perform basic "Waffle House" kitchen skills. Gave them two chances. First visit a couple years ago they forgot to put in our order and waited over an hour for food. Gave them a second chance and made reservations, got there and they said they knew we had reservations but didn't have any tables available. They said we could wait at the bar. Bartender ignored us and when she finally spoke to us she was very rude so after 30 mins waiting on our table we left. The food is worthy of 5 stars... The restaurant is unique because it is in a 2 story home - The main part of the restaurant is on the second floor. The interior is not a traditional restaurant but it is cute. The food was awesome... I had the fish and chips which were some of the best fish and chips I have had in Knoxville. Went there for St Patrick's Day, What a rip off. $5 cover per head to get in, $18.00 for a pathetic amount of food on paper and plastic, One small potato cooked and cut in half 7 pieces of roasted carrot They were delicious but seven pieces about a 16th wedge of a cabbage and two thin slices of corned beef with some kind of creamy sauce. A friend and I met here for dinner & drinks several weeks ago. We had a great time sharing a bottle of wine and enjoying dinner. I had the fish & chips; I have found Finn's to be the best I've had in Knoxville. Perfectly battered & lightly fried, with a generous amount of fries. My friend had the Pesto Chicken Pasta and said it was delicious. Service was attentive without being smothering. Tried Finns for the first time a couple of days Ago, was very empty for 2pm on a Sunday. Unfortunately they were not offering a full menu Because apparently we had came at a kind of in Between time. I'm not sure what happened or what we could've done to warrant the stern treatment, but the bar tender was so cold towards us when we sat down at Finn's on 5pm on a Monday. She took my ID and inspected it in the back for at least 10 minutes. She told me my ID looked "extremely fake" but I think she was just trying to find a way to refuse us service. Whenever we said "thank you" she said nothing in response. This freaked us out to the point where we worried she may have spit in our drinks. What started as a search for fish and chips turned into a charming, historical dining experience. For years I have passed by the grand Greek Revival mansion with it's uniquely beautifully retro neon martini sign at the corner of South Peters Rd. and Kingston Pike. I was told that the restaurant was formerly a jazz and supper club that had outlived its' heyday so I never bothered to stop by. I always thought that the neon martini sign was a heritage fixture, preserved as a reminder of a more decadent past. Well, that's partially true. Finn's Tavern, housed inside this elegant antebellum mansion built by Dr. James Baker in 1840, is full of surprises. From elegant furnishings, crystal chandeliers, stained glass, a great sports bar in the former solarium and perhaps a ghost or two. It is absolutely charming. Our visit was just prior to St. Patrick's Day, so the Erin go Bragh vibe was in full swing. We were seated in an upstairs dining room which was formerly the home's nursery. Green, of course, is the predominant theme with velvet settees and chairs at each table. Oil lamps festively glowed at each table. But of course, the main reason for this review is the food. The vast menu of all things Irish, definitively crowns this tavern as The Irish Tavern in all of Knox County. We were specifically craving fish and chips, so of course, we ordered them. No words to adequately describe the sensual crunch of the crispy batter enfolding and coddling the mouthwatering, sweet cod fillets. They were some of the best I have eaten. Each bite, a playground of succulent flavors. Our server was as knowledgeable about the mansion's history as she was about the menu. The service was great and the whole dining experience satisfying right down to the last crumb. I can't say enough good things about this surprising gem. Please do yourself a favor and prepare for an Indulgent, gastronomic adventure to the Emerald Isle. read more

Finally tried Finn's for a Friday night date with my husband and we were blown away! We have eaten at most places in Knoxville, but had never heard much about Finn's. We wanted to stay west, so we decided to give it a try. It was SO good and exceeded our expectations. Our server recommended the mussels appetizer, which was great. I got the chicken Tipperary for my entree and my husband got fish and chips. Both were delicious! We will definitely be back! Go give this little hidden gem some love! read more

This place is certainly quaint and neat, a converted home into â English pub. They had a "few" beers that would qualify as a pub- Guinness and Smithwicks, but that's it. Pubs don't serve Blue Moon. Food, Drink & Intertainment is good however this restaurant does not cater to the handicap or those that have difficulty climbing the 2 flights of stairs needed to access the main bar/dining area and entertainment. There is only one open room downstairs that would accommodate patrons with mobility problems however you must call to check to make sure it's available or you must reserve a table to be able to eat. Either way, you cannot hear or see any entertainment or activities that are going on at this restaurant. You feel isolated and ignored!!! read more

My friend order whiskey sour, no sour and he offered to replace but she wanted lemon drop martini and he explained that's why whiskey was not sour,no fizzy lemon. We went to Finn's for the Monday night Happy Hour and 1/2 price wings. We had not visited the location since it was Baker Peters. It was early evening around 5:00 pm, but the environment was very nice and romantic with a chilled environment. I love this place first because it's in an awesome historic home with so much character, but also because you can sit almost anywhere; at the bar, table, on the couches in front of the fireplace, or in one of the private nooks and crannies. Scheduled an after work get together with colleagues, unfortunately some miscommunication resulted and there was no record of us calling. Fortunately, the owner/manager was there and took care of the situation and it turned out to be a great event. We were there in a very large group, so it's tougher to get the orders all correct, but it shouldn't be....took quite a while to order, hummus plate was very good, pimento dip was average at best, I ordered the potato crusted salmon....took forever, when I first saw it, it was a piece of salmon, but 0% crusted...it appeared to have shaved potato sprinkled on it lightly...the bigger kicker was it was cool at best, but, the flavor was great, mango sauce on top was fabulous....potato's were good also, I was so hungry at this point, I ate it, even with poor temp...if it was correct temperature rating would have gone up for sure read more
