Have frequented Roosters several times in the past four years. Not once was it a "good" experience. Love their wood fire pizza IF eaten in the restaurant. To go, it comes out burnt every time. Wrong orders, wrong salads.... Tonight was the last straw, simple order. Cheese pizza and a garden salad no onions. Got a cheese pizza and a Caesar salad with shitty lettuce. It was a SIMPLE ORDER. Also, in four years, my credit card has been jacked from this location three times. I rotate cards so I know when/where I use each card. On three occasions, after making my purchase here, there has been an unauthorized charge within 20-30 minutes. Convenient coincidence??? I think not. read more

The wings are spectacular the sauces are great they have a super hot sauce that is great wings here are by far the best in Tennessee. The pizza in the brick oven are very very good I like the bbq and and Buffalo pizza a lot! This places chicken sandwich is one of the biggest and best tasting fried chicken sandwiches I have ever had. The drinking options are very very good. Pitcher of beer here is quite frankly the best deal in west Knoxville. This is a prized gem of Knoxville that only people not from Knoxville will rank under 5 stars. Roosters is a classic spot in Knoxville, the fact their overall ranking is only 3 stars is a travesty. Their pizza is as good as anyone's other than maybe Gavinos, and the wings are great. We love it here. We drive all the way from Powell. Jason is by far the best bartender. The crowd is great for those who are out of their 20's. It's great for my wife and I, who are "early"ish 30's. You gotta love the people who get on here just to complain. Roosters is a classic watering hole. If you don't like smoke, don't go to bars. The pizza is top 5 in Knoxville, smoked wings are great, and watching a UT game there is a blast. I notice that a good part of the negative reviews are from nights that likely were a packed house. When that happens, in my experience, there are rude people who stand in groups totally blocking the only path that the bartenders/servers have to navigate to the tables. Saying excuse me is useless. They will ignore a server with both hands full. This is the only negative, the proximity to campus and the bad mannered young people on really busy nights. They huddle in cliques and completely trash the place. My suggestion to enjoy your visit is to watch a UT football or basketball game that starts at noon. Have lunch and enjoy a few drinks with a few regular folks. You will find the staff is quite friendly when they are treated the same. read more

The bar has expanded over the years and has more than double in size, taking over a deli and part of the parking lot. The rule of thumb at Rooster's is "Take care of your bartender and they'll take care of you." The bartenders double as servers, so if it's crowded patience is a virtue. Rooster's will serves pizza into the wee hours of the night, 2:00 is when the pizza oven's fires are extinguished. Daily drink/food special, try the smoked wings. With any bar there are problems. They do allow smoking and you will occasionally encounter a drunk. It is a bar after all, you wouldn't be shocked to find animals at the Zoo. Rooster's is my go to watering hole. Whether to watch the game or play Golden Tee, Rooster's is my bar. read more

Quite large, neighborhood dive bar. It is VERY smokey, even though some rooms are supposedly "non-smoking" - there are no doors separating the areas. During warmer weather, the screened patio isn't nearly as bad. The Hattie wings are fantastic!! The beer selection is poor. Had a big celebration tonight for a friend getting into medical residency at UT with 20+ regulars and spent over $1,500. Last call was at 11:45. Got one more beer. Was halfway finished at midnight when some napoleon complexed worker said if you don't leave now I'll throw you out. Needless to say I just spent over $1,500 and asked can I just finish my beer in a few minutes. Was called profanities and threatened by worker. They've lost 20+ regular customers for life. Really cool bar. Great staff, fun atmosphere, lots of menu options. Last night i ordered traditional fried wings, half garlic parmesan and half lemon pepper. They were big and juicy and super hot. Perfect. Boyfriend got an order if ghost pepper wings, also awesome. We also bought a large pepperoni and sauerkraut pizza to go. Supurb. Half price wings on Tuesday. Awesome dive bar you can smoke in which is a plus since we haven't kicked our habit just yet. We initially came in so he could finish some homework and have a few drinks. Happy hour on Tuesday was $3 jäger bombs and we got a few pitchers of shiner bock for $5.50 each! As for food we had an order of the fried okra which was pretty standard. The spicy ranch they serve with it is really good and has a Tabasco flavor. In the back of the bar there is dart boards, a pool table and a table for shuffleboard. First time here and so far excellent service. The staff is attentive and fast, orders are accurate and served with a smile. The food was so-so. I had the shrimp tacos and my husband had the sliders. I was turned down from entering this bar for no reason except getting off a chariot of hire from a wedding party. They called me "sweetheart". And said I don't think so because we got off of a privately hired bus. They didn't check our ids or anything. Just said no I don't think so from across the parking lot when we got off the bus. I went to Rooster's with a friend and my mom. They have a large selection of alcoholic beverages as well as non-alcoholic beverages. There are pool tables, lots of seating, and TVs everywhere! The food was really good and I recommend the chicken tenders and fries. Yummy! I also ordered the Margarita and the Jamaican starburst which both were amazing! My waiter however was rude. However he was quick with our order and checked on us often so that kind of made up for it. When I got home I smelled like smoke. In Rooster's you can smoke and there is no non-smoking area. So if you having problems with breathing, I would not recommend Rooster's. There was so much smoke I ended up having a problem with my breathing and had to leave, I did not know about the smoking until I was actually there. I did have fun though. 3/5 read more

I have been going to this spot for probably 20 years. I lived in Knoxville for about eight years and this was a regular spot where we hung out. Although I'm not a big Sports person, it's a sports bar where everybody can have fun and hang out. They've always had good drink specials and they've always been known for years, for fantastic wings. I moved away about 12 or 13 years ago, but this was still the place where my friends and I would meet up to have wings and maybe have a couple beers. Once they added the screened-in patio and now the open-air section, that was always a very big plus. A couple of years ago we were surprised to come here and find that the wings were not the primary item on the menu anymore. At that time, they had began making pizzas and wings we're not quite as highlighted. The wings were still very good and, to our surprise, the pizza was absolutely fantastic. Now, I tend to be in Knoxville every other week and it just so happens that I come in town on the night that they have a special for half-price Pizza. Like I said before, the pizza was amazing so this was a really really good win-win situation. Today, that all changed. Let me first preface this with the fact that the staff is peerless, absolutely outstanding. Really fun people to be around, friendly to everyone comma they really just make the environment a good place to be in. I don't know what's happened, it's only been 6 weeks since I've been here last, but the pizza has completely fallen off the shelf. Normally I meet friends here but today I was in a bit of a hurry to get back home so I just came down ordered a pizza and got a little work done while I was waiting. I ordered a large supreme pizza with no olives. It took probably 25 minutes to come out of the kitchen. Then, it was covered with olives. It was pretty busy so I wasn't going to bother them with taking it back, and the olives seem to have been tossed on as it was going out to me so it was no problem to pick them off and put them on a plate. The crust was dry and tough. The pizza was "flat", the sauce was visible through the minuscule amount of cheese that was on top of it and the toppings were minimal at best. Honestly, while I was sitting there, I felt I would have been a lot better off to have the Domino's on the other end of the parking lot deliver me a pizza to the patio. I'm sure if I had just gotten the wings like I had so many times before I would have been pleasantly satisfied. Many times I will go ahead and get some wings before I get a pizza and just take the rest with me but this time I didn't thinking that the pizza would be more than sufficient. I am so disappointed in the quality of the pizza that I got today that comma the half of it I had left that I took with me is still sitting here in a box and I think it's going to remain there until I eventually throw it out. I don't know what's happened recently but the quality of the pizza has immediately taken the complete 180 and is not something I would order again. read more

Moved to town a year ago and begrudgingly come here often enough for food when we don't wana go far. Over the past year I feel like the food just gets worse and worse. It's just so close to home we come back and I feel like they know that about a lot of their patrons and just don't care. Tonight's meal was once again horribly sub-par. Fries were literally not cooked and it didn't matter what wing flavor you got because nothing was actually on them and they were as dry and tough as cardboard. Honestly local rocky hill people please stop going here so maybe they will improve something, or a bar/grill/restaurant that even remotely cares about quality, goes in its place. This used to be a great neighborhood bar and have spent a lot of money and time here. However, it has really went downhill for all the wrong reasons. The Food: The appetizers, wings and pizza are good here but stay away from the burgers and sandwiches. They are all bun and very dry. The Booze: They know how to make a stiff drink here and they have iced buckets of beer at a reasonable price. The atmosphere: It's a good spot to watch the game and there is no shortage of TV's. The new outdoor patio is nice and they have a bar out there to serve you so you don't have to go inside. Thumbs Up. The Service: It's really inconsistent. Most of the people that work here are very unpleasant for some reason. I assure you at some point you will be ignored. Not all servers are like that but most are. Clientele: The reviewer that said there are plenty of post-college frat/sorority boys and girls here was spot on. If you ever wondered how much douche you could fit in one bag or you are feeling nostalgic for your old flipped up collar frat buddies this is your place. Allow me to summarize the 2 star rating, Petty and childish behavior: The folks of roosters (and I guess the strip mall management) are obviously very bitter about the Tin Roof location that opened across the street and will not hesitate for a second to tow your car if they think you parked in their parking lot and went over there. I was very disappointed with my meal. I ordered the grilled rooster and rice with teriyaki sauce and boy was that a joke. First off they didn't put teriyaki sauce on it but I gave it a shot anyways, big mistake. The rice looked and tasted like it had been cooked in a microwave and the vegetables were burnt and indistinguishable. The chicken was decent but very dry and was not nearly enough to make up for the disaster of a meal. This was my first visit to Rooster's and I will NOT be going back and I urge anyone who is considering eating here to reconsider immediately.
