The good stuff: The dining room was generally clean and the decor had a classic old school diner vibe. The coffee was fresh and not burnt tasting. The service staff was very nice and did their best to keep ours and other diners' cups full. The bad stuff: Our order took a good 50 minutes to make and we were one of the only people in there when the ticket got to the kitchen. I ordered a lightly toasted club sandwich and received essentially a halved ham sandwich swimming in mayonnaise that wasn't toasted at all. My soup tasted burnt and my replacement salad had slimy pieces in it. My friends BLT was very clearly only toasted on one side of the bread and my other friend's grilled cheese was also just barely toasted enough to melt the cheese in it. Zero QC from the wait staff who saw how bad our order looked and still brought it out. I'm hoping I just caught them on a bad day. Might give them another chance someday but not anytime soon. read more

As a kid I really liked fins. Now as an adult I think it's just okay. Last couple times I've been there I have had painfully slow service. And the food is just mediocre and expensive! Shake and onion rings were good (but overpriced) and burger was alright. I couldn't believe the burger meals that were already pretty expensive don't come with a drink. This is a lovely spot, we were aiming for Giant Burger however found out they were closed Sundays so we wondered down the road to Fins, we walked in and had the option to sit in booths or at the soda fountain vibe-like bar, a little on the small side, and hard to accommodate groups, but good music, well taken care of 50's style decor that really set the mood, and perfect for 1-6 people looking for small town vintage vibes, super cute. We had out drinks right off the bat, than only waited about 10min for our meal, very pleasant even though it was packed, seemed effortless to get everyone served, and i didn't hear one miss-order or call back while there. I had their homemade root-beer which was treated right by being served cold in a chilled mug (no ice) light, deep shades of caramel and was delightfully complex, the kind of drink that forces you to slow down and sip it, yummm! The Burger i had with bacon and a side of onion rings was fresh, packed with quality pickles, real onions, lettuce, super thick bacon, and yumminess! We also shared an order of the country fries (spuds) nothing was over greasy, onion rings could use more flavor, seasoning, or an onion with a bit more bite ether one, but they were crispy and satisfactory, and dipped in there BBQ sauce easily devoured. I'd say the milkshake, home fries, and customer service was the highlight of the meal. The server Sam was a blur racing around the place doing everything from taking orders, serving, refilling drinks, getting someone some extra dipping sauce to cashing out checks and never once made us feel forgotten or in her way, she always seemed to appear with a smile just before we realized we needed something, she was awesome, even literally sprinted to the back and swinging around the counter to inform the gal that we wanted to add a banana to the shake, which for 3.75$ was an amazing shake.... id come back for that over DQ any day! Went there to get take out, I parked in the drive-in area and placed my order. After waiting 20 minutes I asked where was my food, it took another 5 minutes before they brought it out. I think that it got prepared and forgotten, because it was cold. The girl's excuse was that the restaurant was full inside. Which made me feel that I didn't matter. I was upset that I had to wait so long to get cold food. When I complained she offered a refund, after waiting so long I really didn't want to go anywhere else. I asked for a new order, I think that they attempted to reheat the original order, because she was back within a few minutes and it still wasn't that hot, either. read more

Good food, decently priced and nice waitresses. My only problem with them is I asked for my burger to have some pink in it and it still came to the table totally well done. The fish and chips are good, the grill cheese is excellent,the hotdogs are hotdogs not much to say about them. The coffee is decent and always hot and fresh. The breakfasts are nice as well, the desserts (when available ) are yummy. By all means GET THE ON SITE MADE ROOTBEER! It is so worth it, usually I find rootbeers that are home made like theirs to be too sweet. But the the one at Finn's isn't overly sweet at all, it is nicely spicy as a good rootbeer should be. Get the large, your going to want the free refill you get with a large. One thing though, it is a family restaurant so it can be a bit noisy with kids some times, not a problem for me but it is something to be aware of. read more

I've lived about 4 blocks away from this restaurant for almost a year now and tonight was the first time eating there. I was craving some thick and crispy onion rings and they definitely delivered! I had a veggie burger which was good but I think it would have tasted a little better on a white bun rather than the wheat it came on. My brother had a bacon cheeseburger with fries and said "it's the kind of burger that makes you remember you're alive", which I guess means he liked it ;) service was friendly and an average wait time. I have it only 4 stars instead of 5 because of price to portion ratio. I felt if you're paying $2-3 to add fries/onion rings to your already $5-6 burger they should have been a little bigger portion size. Good food, just small baskets. read more

The food here is ok "sometimes" Everytime I want to pay and leave the waitress been man or woman begs for tip everytime! Only they haven't shown above and beyond work. I can't stand been asked for tips everytime. I only tip those who work harder then the rest. Waitresses do not work on trips anymore. That's a thing of the past. If your on an hourly wage then you don't "need" tips. Stop asking. If someone is satisfied with your service and they have enough cash to afford to give away tips they will do so at there expense. Up until recently, Fins has been one of our "regular" places to eat. The burgers are yummy, and they do a great BLT. The salad is just iceberg lettuce with dressing - no other veggies, and you have to ask for croutons, bacon bits, or crackers. Sadly, the service has become very poor over the past few months. Tonight was the last straw. As we sat waiting to have our order taken, three empty tables were cleared (no customers were waiting for tables). Sad downhill trend for a family favorite. The last 2 times we have chosen to go to Fins the service was downright awful. Our visit today was the last straw. Walked in... Waited for tables to be cleared...Sat down... No menus, no water, no acknowledgment whatsoever. 3 waitresses helping "The Regulars" as soon as they walked in. Not one word for over 15 minutes. So we left. Love the food but with service that crappy...I will probably never return. If you're searching for a positive review, please skip this. Our first visit, our last visit. Will try to keep this concise. Walked in, summarily ignored by both waitresses for ten minutes. No greeting, no eye contact, nothing. Shame on us for staying. Got water at the fifteen minute mark. A quick promise to 'be right back to take your orders.' She broke her promise. We watched as she filled water glasses of those already served, cleaned up a couple of dirty booths, chatted with other waitress and then took the order of folks that came in behind us. Never once did she look our way. At the twenty-five minute mark she looks at us, starts to walk towards us, turns around and walks away from us and I guess it dawned on her that with two closed menus on our table that, gee, we might need our orders taken? Shame on us for staying. Orders taken. Food received at just about the one-hour mark. Burgers luke warm. The food is okay but one can get a better burger and onion rings along with friendly waitpersons and food served within a reasonable amount of time just about anywhere else. This place is purportedly family owned. Where are they? Who trains (not) the wait staff? There is no organization, no multi-tasking by the crew. It's as if two people were randomly pulled off the street to run the dining room. Eating at this establishment took us 1.5 hours. Shame on us for staying. read more

First time here at Fins Drive In. Came for breakfast (served till 11:30am) and decided that I didn't want to pay almost $7 for a pancake a piece of sausage and an egg. So I went with the Classic Burger. Burger was small, but meat was good. Sort of dry, not much secret sauce on it. Plenty of fresh lettuce and pickles. Overall the burger was good. I believe it was $1.75 more to make it a basket, which meant adding frys. Frys were your generic crinkle cut frozen fries. My husband ordered the Chicken Fried Steak meal and a Bubblegum Milkshake. Upon first inspecting it, I found a small fly stuck to the inside of the shake in the cup. I tasted it anyways and was not impressed. Giant Burger has the best shakes around! I'm not sure what the hype over the shakes are, seems more of like soft serve with flavoring added in. The shake cup had a brown stains all along the bottom of the rim and seemed very unappetizing. I chose not to order the shake I was originally going to get based on my husbands shake. The over all diner seems a little dirty and on the table I found another dead fly and ant. I'm not a big fan of grungy diners or eateries. II think I will just stick to places closer to home. read more

Like the classic hamburgers we remembered at Jamie's, the El Dorado Burger boasted hearty amounts of shredded iceberg lettuce and red onion. Talk about crunch! While the first few bites were uninspiring, the onion ring proved a welcome surprise. Unfortunately, the onion ring proved to be the only highlight. The mushrooms were overpowered by the secret sauce, and the quarter-pound patty was overwhelmed by the fixings. While Fin's quirky nature provides a fun, family friendly atmosphere and to-die-for milkshakes, the burgers can't live up to the gaudy American decor. Even when compared to other fast-food restaurants, the El Dorado fails to exceed the Sonic burger, and pales in comparison to Burgerville's Tillamook Cheeseburger ($3.19). read more

Fin's is not JUST a restaurant. Yes they serve really yummy diner food, but it is one of those places that holds a special place in your heart. The nostalgia that I have going here is incomparable to any other restaurant in the area. I used to come here as a child with my grandparents (RIP) and now I come in here with my children. It is a family-friendly place that is so welcoming and warm. Their food is by far the best diner food in the area. My favorite is their chicken fried steak for breakfast which is a huge portion that I am able to share with my husband. It is light and crispy and the gravy is the good old-fashioned kind. Very disappointed with dinner last night. My family of four ate there. My grandsons fried chicken was dark, dark brown and hard. How's he supposed to eat that. My 1/2 chef salad was good but hamburger was raw in the middle. Really turned my stomach. My husbands fish and chips: fries were good (can't screw up frozen fries) but fish tasted like ones bought frozen from a store. Awful. My daughters 1/2 sandwich was good. I have been to Fins several times. I used to really like it. Tonight I got a chicken sandwich to go. When I went to eat it, the chicken tasted a bit on the raw side (I'm paranoid so it could have just been me). But the kicker was finding raw hamburger on the wrapper on my sandwich. So far, my husband has tried 5 different burgers and loved them all, and I have had the Turkey burger 3 out of the 5 times we visited because it is that delicious! Great place for breakfast, they have great omelets but the biscuits and gravy are a little bland for my taste. They also have good ol' style homemade burgers, so good not like the fast food crap. The food is very delicious. Loved their hamburger and fries and the chicken fried steak meal. Staff is pretty friendly and I love the decor inside. It's interesting to look at while waiting for your food. Customer service takes a little time, but they work decently. My only concerns are the parking lot being somewhat hard to find a spot sometimes and the chairs in the dining room sometimes feel rickety like they'll break if I make any sudden moves. Great value. Great burger. I believe the bacon cheeseburger wirh fries was less than $8. Eclectic vintage feel with carhop, vintage decor and bottled coke. BF and I stopped here on a whim about a month ago and really enjoyed it. Then last night after being invited to a friend's for steak and shrimp, he declined, stating that he was really craving a cheeseburger from Fins. So we drove the 40 miles to get our fix. The bun is toasted, the lettuce is shredded. Hand pressed patty, special sauce. It's a great burger. They carry homemade pie but they were completely sold out on a Friday night, so we were a bit disappointed there. Thus the 4 stars. read more

A few months ago, I wrote a rather unflattering review for Fins Drive-In. That being said, I feel compelled to retract that review due to multiple factors. Not everyone has a good day every day of the week, myself included. So consideration should have been given to factor that possibility. Because I didn't even think someone could be having a bad day or whatever else might be going on for them at the time, I apologize for that. First of all, let me state clearly that Fins is probably one of the best dining establishments of it type in the entire region. The nostalgia lies not only in the decorative memorabilia, but in the way things are done there. It's like a step back down memory lane to a time when the customer was the most important thing in the building, and where pride and workmanship were given serious consideration. Fins Diner continues to carry on those proud traditions today. Quality is exhibited in all that is prepared in the kitchen. The pride of the staff in "their restaurant" is apparent. Furthermore, all the staff is cheerful and friendly and dedicated to making the customer experience memorable and enjoyable. My review of a few months ago was made not knowing all of the circumstances surrounding one of the most popular items on the breakfast menu, the "sunrise special". I expressed my disappointment in the meager size of the portions served. However, I later was educated that this particular special was a limited size portions meal, to allow the owner to offer it at an extremely affordable price without compromising quality. I have to hand it to Jerry, (the Owner) he's done just that. Having been enlightened, I can truthfully say this is probably one of the best values in this region. The customer has their choice of four items from the following: a large, thick slice of ham, bacon or sausage, 2 eggs any style, hash browns or home fries or toast, coffee, tea, or juice or milk. The neat part, aside from the quantity of the choices, is that it costs less than $5.00. If you want to enjoy a delightful home style breakfast, be at Fins diner any time from when they open in the morning until 9 am in order to participate in the "sunrise special".
