Regardless, you can't go wrong with this local chain. I used to frequent another location in town closer to campus, but in Lakeway this weekend, I spotted my once preferred liquor store ... I also spotted a Spec's. But hey, when in Austin ... It wasn't too busy for a Saturday, so we were greeted and led to what we were in search of: Don Julio. The team was fast, courteous and their wine selection had me browsing around for a few minutes or so. "Damn, guess I might as well try this Malbec." So I snagged a few bottles. I guess you could say that I like Twin Liquors so much, that I visited it twice this weekend ... different location, of course. Didn't want them to think I was the neighborhood drunk.

I think SL has really stocked up a wonderful selection of new beers since my last visit. They had a…read morefew crafts before, but now good selection. They carry local brews, as well as organic and gluten free varieties. I'm impressed how many options they have packed into what looks like rather small cooler. It does cover almost the entire back wall of the store - I think I've just become so used to the mega-stores. I'm impressed. They also still house some of the finest liquors available. This is the stop to buy that very special bottle of Scotch you've been saving for. And, the staff seem to be more and more friendly each time. Great customer service, lots of all things booze knowledge, and they are always very welcoming. Conveniently located next to the "Randall's I can't stand but still stop by because it's close to where I live" just outside Steiner Ranch directly off of 620. A little higher priced than the big guys, but you can't beat the special touches that a smaller store can offer. Cheers!

I decided to support local business and buy my Aperol from this liquor store instead of doing Instacart. Bad decision!!! First I go in and the employee was in back of store for about 5 minutes. There was one other person waiting in front for him with no mask on. He came running out with no mask on. Enough about not having a mask on. That was not my issue. First off.... I noticed the aperol was $17 more for the same size bottle that I buy on Instacart. At this point I was like do I buy or just go home and order it. So I bought it! As I walked out the door a lady was walking in. I grabbed the door open for her and my sweater got stuck on the handle of door. I dropped the aperol right outside door. The employee comes out in pissed off mood and says go throw it in the trash to your right. So I did. He said I will give you a discount on your next bottle. So I waited for him to help the other lady and she left. So I ask him how much will another bottle be. With an attitude he said Full Price! At this point I was like I just wasted $40 on a bottle of liquor that barely made it out of his store and he wants me to pay full price again. I was like.... NO! I will go but another bottle online for half the price. So Instacart you have to tip but your saving 50% off the liquor. I will not support this business ever again and I hope my friends will not either. aperol there was $40 total with tax. 2-14-2021 update... the guy below with the review is the one working yesterday and was crazy. I never requested a free bottle of anything. I would not expect that. Do I think he should of treated me better? YES! Do I think he should of offered some sort of discount. We needed a good bottle of wine and some spirits for the lake the next day. It was a quick in and out. It was nice not to have to drive 15-20minutes from Lakeway Resort. Which, frankly is exactly what I want in a liquor store. Easy in and out. The other thing I like about Lakeway Spirits is if you want something on the reg, the family will make sure they get it for you. My wife and I are pretty low maintenance so it's not a big deal. But the owner did mention it when I spoke to him.(Which I thought was kind). Competing with the big boys in the liquor business in Lakeway Texas is a giant task for a family run business. It's a family run business, which is awesome, and to be honest it seems like Lakeway is turning into a Franchise Freak Show. I'm giving Lakeway Spirits family run business a 5 star review because I got what I needed, fast at a reasonable price.

Easy parking, very friendly service, clean. And then there was the surprisingly good wine selection, including few small batch production Napa wines. Pricy, as expected, and yet there wasn't much of upcharging if any, the same prices I would expect to see inside the Valley. This is not what I see in most of other Austin liquor chains, like Total Wines, etc. The fact, that had some estate or single vineyard wines from St. Helena or Howell Mountain appellations, is very surprising. The sales person was reasonably knowledgeable about wines, made few good suggestions, blinked just a bit after I mentioned that I know few of those winemakers and proprietors :) Yet, he is a really good resource for wine lovers (and remember, my expectations are very high). Another sales associate was very knowledgeable around bourbons. To my surprise, place had a few allocated bourbons from Buffalo Trace Distillery on the shelf.
