    a variety of bottles

Awesome selection. Came in from Denver to visit friends and was floored by this place. Tons of beer from all over but this place really shines wine and liquor wise. Some old stuff and newer varieties and the prices are more than decent. Good local spot to get some beer or a nice bottle of wine for a friend as a gift. Limes and bottle openers up front if you are in a pinch. More of a serious spot for alcohol than a place to stop off and grab a case. Take your time choosing or ask a staff member but you really can't go wrong with their selection. 4/5 because the cashiers are a bit weird. You get wrapped up in weird conversations when you try and pay/leave. Awkward talks but the place still stands out.

When your bubbly-lovin' best friends visit from San Francisco, you build a blood orange mimosa bar with prosecco in anticipation of their arrival. And before you serve those mimosas, roll out the red carpet by serving a glass of good champagne. South Lamar Wine & Spirits stocks an impressive champagne selection - I purchased a bottle of Perrier Jouet Brut for a fair price and some more affordable prosecco for the mimosas and bellinis. They do sell the famous flower-etched bottle but a Benjamin is a *bit* out of my price range. I also perused the extensive wine, spirits and beer selection... the store is cleanly laid-out and the employees are very helpful. A wine tasting was going on while I was in the store and it looks like they'll soon be adding specials to their website. Though this stretch of Lamar is usually really busy, the parking lot makes picking up your favorite spirits a breeze!

WHAT AN ESTABLISHMENT! I live literally around the corner and pass this liquor store everyday... however, i'm a beer girl, and don't find the need to buy hard liquor for the house.... so I haven't had the chance to make it in. I needed nice gifts for a few of my close clients and the two gentlemen were not only knowledgeable about tequila, sparkling wine, red/ white wine... they were BEYOND nice and helpful. We came in for Don Julio 1942... about $140 (they sold it for $114), and they suggested we go with another tequila that is presented better AND on sale for $87... JACKPOT... b/c I needed two! Then we moved over to the wine... where he equally knew what he was talking about.... BEYOND IMPRESSED!

There are much more affordable options in Austin. I wouldn't stop in here unless you're absolutely desperate to spend more than you need to.

You walk in and immediately know you are not in some polished Instagram cocktail lounge. It is loud, a little gritty, and full of people who are clearly there to have a good time and not pretend otherwise. The beer is cold, the Lone Star flows like Texas water, and the vibe is pure old school Austin. And yes, the legendary bathroom situation deserves its own paragraph. The men's room features a giant ice filled trough for a urinal, which feels like something out of a 1970s roadside saloon documentary. Somehow it is both ridiculous and perfectly on brand. It actually becomes a conversation starter because you walk out laughing and immediately tell your friends they have to see it and go pee. The crowd was friendly, the bartenders were quick with the beers, and nobody was taking themselves too seriously. I ended up staying longer than planned, drinking Lone Stars and talking to random people like we had known each other for years. If you want craft cocktails served with a rosemary sprig this is not your place. If you want a hilarious, slightly chaotic, authentically divey night in Austin with cheap beer and great stories, Dirty Bill's absolutely delivers. Five stars and I would go back in a heartbeat.

When we learned that the same restaurant was in Austin, TX, we decided to try it. Based on Yelp advice, Happy Hour was the way to go. The menu items were generously sized. We arrived at this dimly lit, sultry restaurant that had speak easy vibes. The stylish chandeliers and soothing colors adds to the ambience. The restaurant is quiet spacious with private dining areas. In addition, the DJ spins tunes from 7 PM during the week and 6 PM during the weekends. The music was quite engaging without being too overpowering. Now for the food and drinks...we ordered an assortment of food items...Cesar salad, hamburger, truffle fries, Thai fries, Brussel sprouts salad, salmon and tuna cones, street corn and chicken wings. The standouts included the Cesar Salad (with soft flavorful crouton pieces), hamburger (Juicy and thick), truffle fries and Brussel Sprout salad (very large size). We chose to eat inside but took pictures on the patio. Servers were attentive. This place even gives a discount to the parking garage attached to the building. You do have to scan the QR code in the garage when you arrive to pay for parking. Looks like they change the flavors of the boards so it would be great to come back and try different flavors. There were some dessert items I saw online that weren't available on the in restaurant menu that would have been nice to try. They also have a wine club if you're into that. Near downtown so you can enjoy the city before or after your meal. My friends said their cocktails were delish.

We did have a little service hiccup when our server left us waiting for quite a while. What impressed me was how Khloe, the manager, stepped in and handled it. She was incredibly helpful and made sure we were taken care of, which really changed the experience for the better. The atmosphere is a lot of fun. Good music, sports playing on the TVs, bottomless mimosas, and games for anyone who wants to make a day of it. There's something for pretty much everyone in the group. Surprisingly, the restaurant wasn't very busy, so we were expecting a smooth experience. We ordered the bottomless mimosas, the chili crispy chicken eggs Benedict, and the chicken and waffles. The standout dish was definitely the chili crispy chicken eggs Benedict. It was flavorful, very filling, and easily my favorite thing I ordered. I would order it again if ever come back. The bottomless mimosas came pre-made in a pitcher, which was convenient, but they tasted more like juice than champagne. If you're expecting a traditional mimosa, you may be disappointed. Unfortunately, the chicken and waffles were our least favorite dish. The chicken batter was very thick, little to no seasonings and had a yeasty flavor, and the waffles were much sweeter and cakey than expected. The flavors didn't balance well, and my boyfriend wasn't able to finish even a third of his meal. Service started off well and our waitress was friendly, but as brunch went on we found ourselves having to flag her down multiple times for refills and assistance. Since the restaurant wasn't particularly busy, this was surprising. The biggest downside was the value. For the prices being charged, we expected a higher quality dining experience. While the eggs Benedict were decent, the rest of the food and service didn't quite justify the cost. The ambiance was also lacking. For a brunch spot, especially one we chose for a birthday celebration, the atmosphere felt pretty flat and didn't add much to the overall experience. Overall, there were some highlights, especially the eggs Benedict, but there were enough misses that we left feeling the experience was average rather than memorable for a birthday celebration.
