I just came back to Austin after living in Napa Valley for few years. Obviously, my wine expectations are sky high :) I was a bit sceptical when I walked in. 5 star. Easy parking, very friendly service, clean. And then there was the surprisingly good wine selection, including few small batch production Napa wines. Pricy, as expected, and yet there wasn't much of upcharging if any, the same prices I would expect to see inside the Valley. This is not what I see in most of other Austin liquor chains, like Total Wines, etc. The fact, that had some estate or single vineyard wines from St. Helena or Howell Mountain appellations, is very surprising. The sales person was reasonably knowledgeable about wines, made few good suggestions, blinked just a bit after I mentioned that I know few of those winemakers and proprietors :) Yet, he is a really good resource for wine lovers (and remember, my expectations are very high). Another sales associate was very knowledgeable around bourbons. To my surprise, place had a few allocated bourbons from Buffalo Trace Distillery on the shelf. Disappointed in this particular location. During a recent sale I used their website to locate a bottle I have been looking for. I got out there (after a 45 minute drive) and not only did they not have it in stock, they said they don't even have one in their entire company and never did. They said their website is notoriously wrong. So hey, that's not great, right? But no worries, one of their regional managers was there and said he would help me out. He took my number and said he'd call me Monday and see what they could do. He'd even get me a discount. I was so impressed that I bought two other bottles to show support for the good service. Wish I hadn't. That manager never followed up with me in any way. This used to be the best store in the region for service, but this was a terrible way to treat a customer. For a premium experience, stay far away from the Four Points Twin Liquors location. I gave a second star only because another girl that helped me was at least friendly. read more

This is a decent outlet of Twin Liquors, but I can't recommend it without reserve. The selection seems decent, particularly for red wine. I did a casual price comparison between it and the HEB next door on four very basic selections (think Berenger-level ubiquitous). The result was 50-50; two were slightly cheaper at the HEB, two were cheaper there. The service was brisk but not particularly friendly. I also have gotten warmer and better suggestions for pairings from the wine manager at both this HEB and the one down in Lakeway. Worthwhile to stop in, but only if you're looking for something special to order. read more

After living 20 minutes from Wine Country in California for 2 years I was worried once I moved to Texas I would be missing out out the quality wine selection. This was not the case at all, Surprisingly Twin Liquors carried a large variety of wine, not to mention so of the wines from my favorite spots in Napa/Sonoma. The Selection was great and the staff seemed pretty knowledgeable. My only issue is the cost of alcohol. It's average price, but sometimes there are specials that can save you $10-$20, but no consistently low prices. Update: Twin liquors has moved next door to their previous location and now occupy the old hollywood video. I like the new location a lot, they've expanded their selection and there's a lot more room, so you don't have to worry about accidentally taking out an aisle of booze when trying to get past someone in the aisle. read more

Having scouted out liquor stores in the area for a good tequila selection and decent prices, I was directed to Specs. They have decent prices, and a good selection, but the Specs on 620 I visited had the cheap ambiance, but the prices didn't warrant it. Further, they didn't have the tequilas I was looking for, even though their website said they did. Then I found Twin Liquors, right next to my local HEB. It looked like the prices would be high, but the store was quite nice looking. Much to my surprise, their prices were every bit as good as their tequila selection. They have great selection in all categories, great prices to match, and excellent service and recommendations. read more

One of the larger Twin Liquors in Austin, I really enjoy this one. It's right next to the HEB in Four Points, and it's never too crowded. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable, and I always enjoy a visit there. Selection is outstanding, and the prices are on par with other stores in the area, sometimes even cheaper. They have great specials, so check the displays before you buy. They also have a sale section next to the door to the beer cooler. It's sometimes really random stuff, but every once in awhile, there's a great find. They also have wine tasting classes, so get your drink and learn on. read more

This is our liquor store of choice over here. I figured it would be just a liquor store, but they have a pretty decent size selection of wines. I'm not much of a wine drinker, yet...should I convert, I know where to look. I'm also not a beer drinker, but they have more than just your typical Budweiser and Corona, they have a selection Ales, Darks, a good variety of others. Me..I like to hit the bottle. This, I know about j/k I'm no alchy, but I do know my liquors. They have the regulars, pre-mixed, local, foreign. Good stuff, Lots to try. Pretty much every time or every other time, they have a table set up with a alcohol vendor letting you test what they have. I've been visiting this particular location for a few years now. A few months back they moved a few store fronts closer to the supermarket. I really like the new location as it's much larger and offers a walk-in beer cooler and humidor. The selection is vast but sometimes the cheaper beer offerings are lacking. I have a feeling it's supposed to be geared toward a more up-scale clientele given its geographical location, and the fact they do have such favorites as Chimay and few other delicious Belgian delicacies regularly in stock. I went in 2 minutes until close and had one item on my list. As I walked in, I wasn't greeted even though I was the only guy in the entire store. I hustled right over to where my item should be and tried to find it. The lady at the front had the shop keys in her hand and yelled out, we are closing in a few seconds. I grabbed a bottle of Jack instead of what I really wanted (thinking the the sale wouldn't go through after 9pm). When I get up to the counter to pay out, I asked if the sale would go through at 9:01, or if there some kind of block on it. She said, "no, it'll let me do it 5-10 mins after"... She then basically escorted me to the door to lock it behind me. This experience wasn't good. She could've at least asked if I needed help finding what I wanted rather than yelling out that they're closing in seconds. I'll stick with the one up off 620 and Anderson mill from now on.. read more

This was not the location where I went to. I actually went to the one off Anderson Mill and 183. They had a wide selection of things. I happen to visit during the time there was huge sale going on. No one really greeted me and no one asked if I needed any help, so that was a bit of a disappointment. I understood though because as I said they were having a sale and the store had a lot of people paying up front. I was able to find what I was looking for after about 10-15 minutes of going down practically every isle. The line died down by the time I made my way to the front to pay. It was quick and fast. So I say the experience there was OK. I'd probably visit again if I need to. read more

Brand new next to bigger digs HEB. Great atmosphere prices were ok. The reason for two stars was hassel and the staff. It was a hassel to park and get ourt of the parking lot. I undertsand Twins business model is to be in strip malls that have grocery stores as anchors but come on now. Yes thier selection of Liquor has increases as well as thier unique higher priced wines but beer and standard wine at HEB is cheaper. The staff is not knowlegeable about the product and the friendliness is qestionable. for two stars price was not that great hasseel getting there and getting out and the knowledge of thier staff was lacking read more

I'd give this location 0 stars if I could. It's not because of the lack of selection, but the service. Both the manager and another employee lied to me and just blew me off. I was searching for a particular limited release bourbon that was out of stock at this location so I asked if another store had it. They found it for me and I asked if they could transfer two bottles to this store. Sure they said, no problem and proceeded to write down my name and phone number saying they'd call when they got it. I let a week go buy since it was New Years and then dropped in to check since it's right next to the HEB I shop at several times a week. The other employee didn't know anything about my request, but found where the manager had written down my information and said that he'd personally take care of it. Well, I let another three days go by and when I received no response, I stopped by again. This time the manager was there again and when I asked about my request, he half heartedly apologized and said he'd dropped the ball. So I waited another two days and finally drove up to Cedar Park and got the items myself. Look, I understand if you can't fulfill a request. However, don't lie and blow a customer off for over two weeks. That's dishonest and rude. read more

Stopped in because I did not want to fight the traffic on 620 going towards Specs. Walked around without help before deciding in what I was getting, even though I was not sure what I needed. When I asked the girl , a young blond lady, behind the counter if what I had would work she just stared uninterested and shrugged. Then when I asked about a bar device that should have been readily assesable in a store lije that, she rudely replied that she did not know. I guess maybe I thought she may inquire with the four people sitting around doing nothing, but that I guess is asking too much. She rang me up and just sort of tossed ny credit card to the side, a pet peeve of mine as I think the least someone on the customer service industry could do was hand it back to you. Then I was dismissed without a simple thank you , and no reply when I said thank you. I guess I will stick to Specs where they seem to want your business. read more
