I held my office year end party at their beginning wheel class and we had the best time. Madeline was so helpful and the whole group had a great time. We will be back

I've taken three classes at Fire and Mud studios and learned more than I have in 10 classes at the other studios in San Diego County and Riverside County. The owner kathy is an amazing instructor. She also employed several other instructors that are amazing, two of which I've had taken classes from all have been super great and make you feel like you'll be able to do this not just I'm helping you because you're never gonna get this, which is what generally happens at the other studios. Kathy herself is an amazing potter the entire studio is full of people who truly know what they're doing and willing to share their gift and talent with you. The other thing that makes For and Mud Studios a place I would recommend is that the atmosphere is just generally fun and welcoming!! I would say if you're interested in doing ceramics, pottery, hand building i'm certain you'll feel welcome and supported at Fire and Mud Studios

BE WARNED!!! Ceramics is addicting! Love this place! Everyone that works here is so kind and patient. I started with the Intro wheel and glaze package and I was hooked. Kathy and her team are so sweet and are happy to answer all my questions as I learn. Been thinking of trying our ceramics? Give Fire & Mud a try! Bonus: They have awesome ceramics for sale if you are looking for a unique gift.

We are not a 'crafty' family. My 9 year old daughter had a fractured wrist and needed to make a ceramic bowel for a school project. I called Fire and Mud, explained the situation and arranged a visit. As soon as we arrived, Kathy and her team put my daughter at ease, worked around her fracture and got her up and running with the wheel in no time. Very relaxed atmosphere and my daughter created a beautiful bowel, decorated with an ornate rose. We were on a tight time scale. Kathy went above and beyond to get it fired, glazed and refired in time for the project deadline. Amazing service and wonderful people. Thank you!!!!!

I came in here really not knowing what to expect, but when my friends showed up and we met Rey, I had a really good feeling that we were in good hands! The whole time I just really wanted to play the music from Ghost while my friends and I were getting our lesson on how to throw and pull clay to make some tea cups and bowls! This was such a crazy experience because I loved every minute of it! My friends had an amazing 2 hour lesson with Rey and we learned so much about how to properly do certain techniques, make the bowls and cups that we had, and then also cleaning up! It's only right that once you make your mess, you clean up so that was super fun as well! We only did part one of everything when we did our first session. Now we have to wait two weeks until we can go back (our things we made have to properly dry) before we can start glazing our creations and then putting it into the kiln!! Rey is super amazing to work with and I learned so much that night! I have to give her mad props because she was teaching 5 adults who have never done this before all on her own! WHAT A PRO!!

It looked very interesting so I decided to sit down and had some fun! One of the staffs, she already started teaching a younger girl (about 12-14 years old) and I sat right next to her . I felt being discriminated by the staff's attitude towards me. I wasn't sure if it was because the younger girl's age or because her parents were with her. For example, the staff would give her very detail instruction and even demonstrated how to do it. When it was my turn, she wasn't really put in effort to teach me. It was my first time learning how to do this too!! When I asked her questions, her reply was, "you can do whatever & be creative....."?? Huh? At least show me how to do it first , once I know it, I can be more creative later. When the younger girl and her parents were ready to leave, she told them about the company and give them a company brochure. I thought now she would have more time to focus on me. I was wrong... she started chatting with another staff about taking lunch break?? I was struggling how to make the fabrics look like "flower"!! I asked her, "I am having hard time making a flower shape???" She said to me, "You will get there eventually.....". Really??? If that is the way she is teaching the class, I will never recommend anyone to go there. When I stood up and ready to leave, she didn't talk about anything about the company or even gave me a brochure. I was very disappointed how different she treated me. I regret that I didn't ask for her name because I think it is important for the business owner, Elena Lai Etcheverty, to know about how her staff treat people differently. All her staffs represent the first impression of the company.

Visiting the art center in San Marcos as an individual or with a group. 3. Coordinating an event. I coordinated an event with them. They have a 6000 square foot warehouse very close to CSUSM on Industrial rd. It's easy to miss. Upon entering I was blown away by the plethora of art supplies. The people who work there will gladly give you a tour, explaining how everything was donated. I met Elena at CSUSM during while she was recruiting volunteers to make "letters of hope" for young women in the hospital with anorexia and for women in homeless shelters. I was intrigued, sat down and made a letter. I asked questions about the charity and I was blown away by the generosity of others. This meeting seemed like it was meant to be. I was planning a fundraiser event and needed a venue. Elena gave me her information and before I knew it I was planning a fun run and art project event with them. I mainly worked with Libbi, as Elena was busy. Libbi was so kind, helpful and was always on the same page as I. Having an event with Charity Wings was a WIN-WIN situation. I planned on charging for my event and had hoped for more in attendance. We didn't end up making any $ to contribute my specific charity, but we did donate to the Charity wings foundation with 25% of our proceeds. With that 25% we had access to the 6000 sq foot warehouse. We made a collaborative art project. We had a large picture and then small papers that each participant could decorate to add to the larger picture. They set out glitter, buttons, feathers, beads and markers to play with. Libbi and a few of the other staff took care of everything inside the warehouse and gave me free reign of the outdoor space, which is HUGE. We had a bounce house and two monitor speakers playing music. Someone participated in the fun run and suffered from heat illness, and they kindly took care of him until he felt better. Libbi is quite motherly. If I ever plan on having another event, I surely will do it here. Again, it's a Win-win situation. Stress free for sure. So for the other experiences, if you have a non-profit organization, you are able to go here and do art for free as a group, simply call ahead and plan your event. For other individuals: $10/hour regular adult, $8/hour student. They also have membership options $5/hour or $20 per day With admission you get access to all art supplies. This is definitely the place to go if you want to try out a new medium. The staff will guide and assist you as much to their knowledge will allow. They have pottery, metal working, paints, scrap booking, ect. They even have artists rental areas... I can't say anything negative about this place. I hope to work with Charity Wings again soon.

You walk in and the employee will give you a run down on the process. If you want to take your ceramic home the same day, you can use acrylic paint, if you don't mind waiting you can choose to glaze it and there is a $5 firing fee. We chose to do glaze and wait a 1-2 weeks and they texted us when it was ready. (Only took a week) In terms of inventory, they have cute Knick knack ceramics you can make or kitchenware like plates, bowls, coasters, etc. I also saw people painting canvases so you really do have a lot of options if you're looking for a fun craft day. Pro tip: do multiple layers if you're gonna do glaze. I'd recommend at least 3, but 4 or 5 if you have the time.

There are no bathrooms and you would need to walk over to use Target's. Mckenna was working the cafe when we came in. She's only one person but quite knowledgeable about the two paints offered - acrylic and glaze. Acrylic paint can be taken home same day. They apply a clear coat finishing spray and it will dry same day but may take a few hours. Anything with this paint would not be safe to eat/drink on if you get a plate/cup. Glaze will need 3 layers and would be an additional week to 2. When you paint it, it will look a bit chalkier but with the glaze, will turn shiny. There is a $5 firing fee. I believe this is okay to eat or drink after they glaze it. You could first choose which piece you want to paint, could be a cup/plate/dish or a figure. Pricing fluctuates depending on inventory. Ceramic pieces prices range from $15.99 to $50.00. They also offer canvas painting which prices range from $15.00 to $23.00. It's perfect to just paint and let your creative side come out. We enjoyed our time here painting. We also saw a few others come in either for date time or family time. One family was clever in that they had several kids, so they had each kid paint a teacup. If you don't finish or want to come back another time, you can always leave your piece with them and return to continue painting. You will need to pay though so they have your number on file to contact you (if you are getting it glazed) and also for you to resume your painting piece there. My girlfriend who was visiting, enjoyed our time here as we caught up talking and chatting while painting our shells. She had to do hers acrylic as she had to fly back to NY the next day. We ended up staying close to closing hours, so Mckenna helped do a quick spray - put it in a box for it to dry (due to the fumes) and let her take a picture of the spray to give it another layer when she went back. I did mine with glaze and got a text message it was ready a week and two days that it was ready for pick up. Very satisfied with our visit here and may come again.

From start to finish, Tatiana, the owner, was absolutely wonderful -- so friendly, courteous, and professional. She checked on us throughout the party to make sure everything was perfect and that we had everything we needed. The store itself is adorable -- clean, fun, and full of amazing handmade merchandise. It's such a unique spot because not only can you host an amazing party, but your guests can also shop afterward! We did a slime party with their slime partner, and it was such a hit. Each child got to make and take home two slimes, and the entire process was smooth and easy. Every child (and parent!) left smiling with a bag full of goodies. Tatiana even surprised us by putting up a few balloons -- the sweetest touch that made the day even more special. She truly made the whole experience effortless and enjoyable. I can't recommend Collab Crafts enough for any celebration or just a fun day of shopping. Thank you, Tatiana, for making my daughter's birthday an absolute dream come true! ‍
