I called them, they said they could come in a few days (it was a Friday) and diagnosed what parts would be needed and where to get them (Home Depot). Buying them myself would save us a lot of $$$$ over them spending time sourcing parts. I was surprised by that, most shops like to make money every way they possibly can. So, he just left, he's was a super good guy as always and educated me on both repairs. The bill was still not cheap, about $300, but plumbers are expensive. Highly recommend.

At the time, it was a promo, and we signed our rebate back to Now so that they got the refund. All good. Our issue, even after my recently contacting Allen? We expected a benefit, some at least, from switching to a heat pump. On the contrary, our first two months of winter, we saw a dramatic increase in our electric bill. So much so that we had to switch back to powering our furnace with gas. When I asked someone that knows Heat Pumps, he said, and I quote- "Yeah, unless you have a photovoltaic system with BIG reserve batteries, heat pumps are rough on the electric bill" No one ever said we needed a photovoltaic system w big reserve batteries. As I see it, the only benefit to anyone? Was NOW/Allen, for selling a product that clearly benefited no one except them. We've not used it since except in the summer as an AC. Or Allen, for that matter.

I used Allen to replace two HVAC units in my two condos in Central Park. They never bothered to tell me that they needed to be there when the city sent out the inspector and as a result the city wouldn't approve the work on one unit and rejected the second. I have called and emailed Allen to complete this process for three months now with no one calling or emailing me back to schedule this required process for the permit. I am beyond frustrated with their lack of service. I would never use them again.
