This was our first time here, and we came to celebrate a birthday. We had noted it in the reservation and also had a conversation about it with our server. We were a little surprised when nothing was done for it, which isn't a big deal, but I'll be honest it was disappointing since we did come specifically to celebrate and had talked about it w our server. 3/5 Arancini - Very salty. None of us really enjoyed them because of that. They also came out lukewarm instead of hot. Would have been excellent if it was less salty and came out hot and crispy. 5/5 Fig & Mushroom (subbed for prosciutto) - The menu doesn't specify how the fig is served. Turned out to be fig jam rather than fresh fig, which wasn't what we expected. A little too sweet for me but overall still very much enjoyed it. Their pizza was cooked perfectly with enough toppings and cheese. Very good pizza! 5/5 Braised Short Rib + Polenta - so good! The short rib was excellent, just slightly salty. The polenta was perfect, and it came with a generous portion of wild mushrooms. 2/5 White Wine Cake (recommended as "unique") by our server - This was the most disappointing meal item. Our waitress told us it was special, but it was very bland and didn't match the description or image on their website. Their website showed a cake with a large scoop of ice cream on top, fair amount of whipped cream and raspberry sauce. Ours came with maybe a quarter of the size of that ice cream scoop, a little teaspoon dollop of whipped cream that you eat in one bite and the raspberry sauce was a tiny smear on bottom for decor but there wasn't enough to actually eat it. The cake itself was moist but lacked flavor. It took a really long time to come out, we thought perhaps they forgot, then forgetting we were celebrating a birthday on top of that was disappointing. Atmosphere - Beautiful space, very well done. The only issue is how close the tables are, you can't pull your chair back without hitting someone, and getting to the bathroom requires asking others to move because of how tight the layout is. Overall, we really enjoyed it and would return. While there were a few dishes we wouldn't order again, and others we would. Would love to try the wild mushroom pizza next time! The only thing was that since we had come to celebrate a birthday and didn't end up doing that, the night felt a little less special than we had expected--but still a nice experience overall. read more

I'm glad I finally got to check this place out, as I've been curious about it for some time. This place is swanky and sophisticated, and a nice addition to the Park Ridge restaurant scene. I came to meet some folks and we sat at the bar. They have an extensive beverage program here, including mocktails, and that's what I settled on. I got one called Strawberry-Basil something, and it was so good. The strawberry-basil shrub was a key ingredient, and I don't get to a lot of places that use a shrub in their drinks. There was definitely a STRONG vinegar taste but for me, that was great. I also ordered a pasta dish, orecchiette and sausage with peas and a sweet, creamy sauce. Orecchiette and sausage are such a classic combo and I hadn't had this sauce before; it was a pleasant dish and was perfectly al dente. Service was good for the bar area. There's parking around, both in the lot right outside and the public parking lot below. And then of course there's the lots by the library and whatnot, so you should be able to find something. read more

Such a great addition to downtown park ridge! Service was incredible and friendly, and the decor inside is great for a nice date night or a dinner with the family. Lobster diavolo was absolutely a favorite, I can still taste it now. Melts in your mouth and very generous with the seafood portions. The ricotta and honeycomb is popular for a reason as well. My husband and I recently visited fire+wine with our friends, and I had been looking forward to this night for a long time. I had always wanted to try the Glen Ellyn location, but never made it there, so once the Park Ridge location opened, it immediately went on my list. It absolutely lived up to the hype. We made a reservation ahead of time, which was a great decision because the restaurant was packed when we arrived, even on a weeknight. The dining room is dimly lit, stylish, and warm, creating a calming and relaxed atmosphere that makes you want to settle in and stay awhile. Our waiter was fantastic. Since none of us had been there before, he walked us through the menu with helpful and enthusiastic recommendations. He was attentive, friendly, and made the whole experience even better. As a group of four, we ordered two appetizers and truly indulged. The arancini ($12) came as mini crispy bites that were perfectly golden and satisfying. We also ordered the black pepper shrimp ($16) and for my husband and I, it definitely stole the show. They were covered in a spicy creole sauce that was unbelievably flavorful. I could have easily eaten several plates of them. I highly recommend ordering this dish. For my entree, I chose the vodka pasta for ($21). It had a perfect texture and balanced flavor. It also came with two pieces of garlic bread, which were a great bonus. My friend ordered the same pasta but added blackened chicken and loved it as well. We happened to visit on half-price pasta night, so we only paid about ten dollars each for our dishes, which made it even more of a win. Both men ordered the blackened pork chop ($29). It is a large 12-ounce chop normally served with fingerling potatoes, broccolini, and herb butter, but my husband ordered it with a side of spinach instead of the potatoes. He was in heaven and said he would have gladly eaten a second plate, not because he was still hungry, but because it was that good. He only complained jokingly that our friend's pork chop was bigger than his. For dessert, my husband and I ordered the triple-layer chocolate cake ($11). It was HUGE and very rich, so I couldn't eat a lot of it, so my friend's husband ate most of it with my husband. Don't get me wrong, it was delicious and chocolately, but for me personally, it was too much. My friend and her husband shared the butterscotch budino ($11), which I did not try, but they loved. We left full and happy. Fire+wine is definitely a new favorite, and we cannot wait to return. My friend even returned with other friends a few days later because she enjoyed it so much! read more

Fire & Wine is such a beautiful place, complete with a large outdoor patio to enjoy on a sunny (or rainy!) day. The wine list is large, but the northern lights cocktail caught my eye and it was a 10/10. I love a good elderflower detail! We shared a few apps- arancini, ricotta & honeycomb dip, and shrimp & calamari- and honestly, everything was super delicious. The shrimp and calamari had a few assorted tempura items as well, such as lemon wedges, basil leaves, and hot peppers, and the assortment was so unique and perfect! We were celebrating a birthday, and they did bring out complimentary gelato with a candle (sans singing, which we appreciated!). Fire + Wine has officially opened their second location in the heart of downtown Park Ridge. The space continues the rustic feel of their Glen Ellyn location with some nice modern adds. The inside has a very large bar, multiple groupings and types of seating, an enclosed patio, and open kitchen. It was easy to make a reservation online and we were sat with ease. The menu is a duplicate to their other location offering a mix of appetizers, salad, pizza, pasta, and entrees. They have a vast selection of wines and seasonal/rotating cocktail list. We started with the Ricotta + Honeycomb app that is served with lightly toasted bread. It's a favorite of ours and our server offered more bread free of charge. For entrees, I got the Vodka Pasta and my husband got the Rigatoni Bolognese. The pasta is clearly made fresh, sauces delicious, and paired with the perfect amount of meat. For cocktails, I got the Whiskey in a Teacup and he the Six Seeds. We both enjoyed the Six Seeds most but felt both were unique in the sense that we hadn't tried something like them before. Angela our server was very kind, took good care of us, and made great suggestions. The bussers were a bit too quick in trying to clear our plates but service was great otherwise. The location is having some difficulties with the fire alarm going off as steam rolls out of the kitchen into dining area but staff handed it gracefully! This location is still very new and working through their final hiccups. Either way, we thoroughly enjoyed our meal and love to see one of our favorite Italian dinner spots expand! This is a rather late review, but it would be a miss if I did not share our wonderful experience planning a 25-person party at Fire & Wine Park Ridge this Summer. Organizing was a breeze. 3 weeks before my event I spoke with Nick, F+W manager, who recommended that I work with Evan because my party would be a larger group. Via email and short conversations, I was given 3 Group options, including Patio seating (with a minimum). Pre-ordering and buffet options were also offered. For my party, and considering the rainier Summer, I decided to ask for "a few clustered tables inside so my Guests can be seated and still mingle without bothering other Diners". And they delivered, seating us at a semi-enclosed area near the entrance. Everyone in my party had a blast! F+W PR is the perfect venue for a classy party, a great excuse to dress up a bit. Our server and the staff staff were very professional and accommodating. Food service was on time, every dish was genuinely appreciated by my guests -- of all ages. No complaints with our drinks either I would highly recommend F+W PR for any event. Weather permitting, consider the Patio setup, too. My food favorites from that night are: Grilled Romaine, Lamb rack (special) and Lobster Diavolo. There was also Seabass or Branzino special that night which was so good! And from another F+W PR visit, I also loved their Lobster sandwich, Ricotta honeycomb App, Meatball App, Margerita Pizza... the list goes on. F+W PR is also great for an intimate date night, a Special Ocasion, a casual snack or just a drink at the bar. Go solo, with someone, or a group -- just check reservations availability on busy nights to avoid the long wait. Went here with my friends as a walk-in and it took around 15-20 minutes for a table to open up. It has a very beautiful interior and I really liked the decorative drawings on the walls to show off the drink menu. The food was delicious and we had great service. I was extremely happy with my meal and want to come again! We shared the ricotta and honey dip and it was delicious! So delectable and is a must if you come here! I got the rigatoni bolognese and our waiter suggested to add a meatball. The rigatoni had a very meaty sauce that was well seasoned and delicious. The noodles are very large and looked homemade/not factory made. We noticed that there wasn't a meatball so we asked if there was extra meat in the sauce. It turns out the meatball was accidentally forgotten and they ended up giving me two meatballs to add to my pasta! I appreciated it so much and was extra delighted to find out how amazing the meatballs are. They are tender and juicy which are the best in a meatball. They went so well with my pasta and I think it is a must when it comes to ordering the bolognese. The only minor complaints I have are that the bread pieces were on the burnt side (didn't mind it though) and that the waiting area has no seating to wait in or a bench right outside the door for waiting. It is hard for me to stand for long periods without feeling like I'm going to pass out (health disorder), so seated waiting is always appreciated! We were delightfully surprised when we found out about the pasta being half off on Mondays! And the waiter was very nice about the meatball situation as well. Very good food, busy open kitchen. The decor and service are a B whereas the kitchen is an A. We had a mix up with our order that wasn't handled very well by the staff and manager. Our table was cramped in with other tables so closely it felt like we were seated with strangers awkwardly. We noticed mostly groups of ladies dining there, so maybe that is the target audience for the decor. It didn't appeal to us. Felt a little too Seasons 52. My first visit to the latest restaurant edition to Park Ridge, "Fire & Wine", which took over the Zaza's space. Although completely full and open only a matter of days, everything ran smoothly. Ample well trained waitstaff, (we loved our waiter Alonzo), Tom the manager made it to our table more than once, and most of all my restaurant week $39, 3 course prix fixe menu was Great! Pear & Arugula salad, main lobster ravioli, and crab stuffed flounder with mashed potatoes & fresh green beans. Hope to see that Lobster ravioli on their menu soon. There are so many things that were wrong about this place don't know where to start, guess I'll start at the beginning.. we were seated at a high top bar table that felt like I could be in the kitchen, when there were a ton of tables open. We went in at a very early time, so I can't believe that all of those were reservation tables. When we asked to be moved we were told that because there's two of us, we would have to stay at the small two top , but no more than 10 or 15 minutes later they sat a couple next to us at a four top - uh was that because there were two girls and that we should be put at a small table ? Next the server knew nothing about the wine list or the menu - she couldn't answer any questions that we asked about the dishes. It was clear she was new and had not been trained on the preparation of the dishes When we asked for bread, we got cold pieces of French bread with a couple of grill marks with no butter, no olive oil and when we asked for olive oil, the server who took our request said she wasn't sure if she could give us olive oil because she just started. We ordered appetizers that were below average. The crabcake was mushy and the veal meatball had too much going on - bery strange combination with hot peppers in the sauce and other random vegetables- and for sure too much filler in the meatball. We asked our server to not bring everything at once, to give some spacing between getting the appetizer and our main course. Well to her, she thought she would wait until we finished all of the appetizer before she would even put in the order so it took another 15 to 20 minutes to get our main course. But where I had the biggest problem is the preparation of the entrée I ordered. I ordered chicken piccata and I have no idea what I got. I have never had more odd things in one dish in my life, not to mention slivers of garlic- I don't like, biting into a garlic clove, sprigs of some herb, not sure if it was Rosemary or thyme, but very unsatisfying to take a bite and have to pull a long twig out of your mouth,--there were artichoke hearts cut, so uneven, some more small pieces than others were long strips,, capers, roasted potatoes that were soggy from the drowning of sauce that doused the chicken. The dish was a disaster flavor-wise, preparation wise --everything. The Chef needs to either go back to school or they need some training as to what the recipe is and how to prepare it. I feel like the dish was prepared from somebody competing on the worst cooks in America show. So no, I will never go back. read more

Fire + Wine has quickly become one of my favorite spots. Their wine selection is seriously impressive, and the half-priced bottles on Wednesdays are a no-brainer if you're even a casual wine drinker. I haven't made it to their regular happy hour yet, but it's on my list. That said, the mussels alone are worth the trip and are some of the best I've ever had. Flavorful, perfectly cooked, and the bread is perfectly toasted. Fire + Wine nails the balance of cozy and elevated, and I keep finding more reasons to go back. read more

My third time dining at this place, the hostess was very rude not sure if he treated us that way because we're Hispanic but we really felt discriminated. We were standing at the front door and asked for a table and he pointed to someplace behind us like saying "move the menus are behind" there was no greeting or whatsoever. He then told us that our server would take 5-10 mins to come to our table. Our server was very nice no complains of her . Just checked in a nearby hotel and was starving. Did the yelp search and found this spot. Was so glad I did. Immediately welcomed by host and was assigned a table. Had a nice view of the Main Street. Kate serviced my table and provided world-class service. From meal descriptions, never empty glass, and ongoing checks, always felt I was assured a great time. Constant checking with other service assistants throughout the meal. Decided to try the three course menu and was not disappointed. Each plate was delicious. Drinks were fantastic as well.
