The butter that comes with the bread service is drool worthy. My only note is that if you're used to the Vegas location of this chain, the portions here are much more normal sized lol, so order double what you'd normally order. read more

I love Italian food. Everyone who knows me knows that. With the disclaimer that some of the issues may have been due to takeout, part of my experience with Carmine's was less than ideal. I ordered delivery to my room with a friend who lives in here and came to visit during my stay. And I had put for the food to be brought up to my room. The driver did not knock, and if it wasn't for the hotel front desk staff, I would have not known about our dinner. When we open our order, my friend's baked cavatelli looked delicious. There may have been a misunderstanding because we were pretty certain we ordered sausage and they put meatballs instead. No matter her dish was still tasty (I sampled it) plus it was a generous portion. For myself, I ordered the penne arrabiatta with added chicken. When I opened the bag, I thought that they had forgotten the chicken because it was just pasta. Looking in the separate bag, I found plain grilled chicken with no seasoning in a separate tray. I would've expected the chicken to be mixed in or at the very least had some seasoning on its own and not just relying on the sauce from the pasta. This was the disappointing part and why I can only give Carmine's three stars. read more

Let's start from the beginning...There is a dress code. We ensured we were dressed business casual so not a problem for us. We made a reservation for 2pm on Sunday. Our server started out slow but by the end of our service was severely lacking. Didn't check on us enough...definitely missed opportunity for ordering more drinks, etc. Drinks. Lemonchello Martini & Lychee Gin & Tonic. We both decided that the drinks were the best thing! The bar tender was singing behind the counter and enjoying his work. Definitely have a drink at the bar. Appetizers were ok. We ordered two different ones. We did the bruschetta and crab cake. Husband thought crab cake was just alright. Bruschetta had black olives. I hate black olives and wouldn't have ordered that had I known. (Menu doesn't mention it.) We both would not order these again. Entrees. I ordered short rib and polenta and thought it taste good...maybe a little dry. Also a side of asparagus to share., which was delicious. Husband ordered veal braciole and a glass of white wine. His was over seared and not fork tender. He couldn't eat the bottom as it was burnt. Couldn't even cut it with a steak knife. (He tried and the table was shaking.) He was also mad because it came in a red sauce and thought had he known he would have ordered red wine. (Then he checked menu on way home and he was served the wrong sauce. Should have been a scallopini sauce.) How did the server not catch that it was wrong? Dessert was Nutella Beignets served cold. They were good but not even warm. We joked that maybe the server went to New Orleans to pick them up. They definitely sat before they got to us. We really wanted to love this place as we have had friends that have had good experiences. So maybe we had a junior or bad server, ordered the wrong things? Who knows. They are selling elevated Italian Food and we both left feeling that's not what we got. Would we go back? Probably not. Chicago is known for Italian Food and I know you can get what you pay for elsewhere. read more

Been here a couple of times now, either after picking someone up at O'Hare Airport or when attending a Chicago Dogs baseball game at Impact Field. Very convenient location, and you can walk to the ballpark. This restaurant has a bit of a dress code, so don't come in your cutoffs. Nice ambiance in a pair of dining rooms ... one more open and the other a more romantic, darkly-lit kind of dining room. Wood paneling and a nice little bar area, where one could dine solo, complete the ambiance. The waitstaff was pretty good, attentive but overworked. We were here early on a Friday, so seating was immediate and business inside was leisurely ... but the waitstaff seemed a bit whelmed. The food was good: one in our party had the Lasagna (4 star very nice with wavy lasagna noodles, and a huge portion), another had the Tortellini Carbonara (also 4 stars and very creamy), and the last had the Fettuccine Alfredo (another 4 star offering). As it was, I was torn between 3 and 4 stars, but settled on 3. The food was 4 star stuff, but the noise level from the bar area and the music playlist sort of ruin the ambiance and leave a lot to be desired. We really liked our dishes, but were distracted by the playlist. All during the meal they played rock-n-roll and pop music ... all good music, but totally out of place in this Italian setting ... we needed some Frankie. All to say 4 star food ... but needs a few fine touches to match the otherwise elegant experience. read more

Great place to come with a large party. My father looks forward to their seafood salad - always fresh and tender. Portions are always generous and service was on point. But this last visit was all about the Chicken dishes. They were truly exceptional! We ended the meal with the tallest, most tender slice of coconut cake. The one negative was that we came on a holiday weekend and it was so incredibly loud that we could hardly hear each other talk. Key strengths are the fact that they are consistent and everything is absolutely delicious and high-quality. Love the space of the patio as well as the actual indoors. I've been to Carmine's many times and each time it was a fantastic experience. However, this visit (not for work, but with family) was a let down. Specifics include the Old Fashioned wasn't made right, and seemed off. It definitely wasn't mixed. They used to have my favorite. The salads were good. That's the 2nd star in my review. My wife ordered the Chicken Piccata and asked for a different type of pasta (Angel hair instead of Penne). They said it was a slight upcharge. Not sure why, but we said ok. Turns out they brought the original Penne and charged us for a side order of pasta as listed on the menu. They insisted it was an upcharge. Really? $9 upcharge? The steak wasn't very tender and it was very disappointing. They have gone down in quality and service from my previous work experiences and it was really a disappointing evening. read more

I was highly disappointed with my experience. I had a reservation for 5:45 PM, arrived on time, and was seated immediately--which was great. However, from the moment I sat down, I felt extremely rushed. The server hurried us through the menu and ordering process, and by 6:30 PM I was already being asked if I wanted to wrap up my food. I am a slow eater, but that should not affect the quality of service--especially when I'm paying downtown-level prices. Carmine's has a large menu with a lot of options but I feel it is overrated and some items are overpriced. My husband's veal piccata was overcooked and tough so he sent it back and ordered a filet instead. It was cooked perfectly but with no hint of salt or pepper. My chicken Milanese was a huge portion and cooked well. The pasta we both got on the side was al dente but to me it might as well have been raw. The noodles were hard. I had a martini which was tasty and they have yummy blue cheese olives and they gave us complimentary cannoli because it was our anniversary. My wife and I dined at the famous Carmines this evening for our 12th wedding anniversary. It was truly a forgettable night. David, our server, was excellent. He was as professional as they get. My two stars are for the food. I ordered the Veal piccatta, and it was horrible. Uhm, just a thought: when serving veal, it should always be medium-rare to rare. Terrible,. Not well or medium well, because it's veal, it should be fork-tender, meaning you can cut it with a fork. My wife ordered the Chicken Milanese for me, and it was fine; I had a piece, and it was actually more tender than my veal. Now, when you pay the prices they're charging you, you should get the meal you expect. We both had penne pasta with a delicious red sauce. My wife didn't like her pasta because it wasn't cooked enough. She does not like al dente pasta. I was classically trained as a chef, and my traing was in Italian cuisine. I know a little bit about it. The pasta was a bit undercooked, but not by much. She likes all her pasta overcooked until soft as a noodle. The restaurant was a beautiful room. and only a handful of customers were there. The ambiance was lovely. I don't think I will be back to Carmines' because I wanted the veal and it was not cooked as I like it. I ordered the filet mignon Medium Rare. Man, we're giving this place a well-earned 4 stars. Ambience? Definitely upscale. Ok- if you want a casual dinner, do NOT come here. It's got a basic dress code - if you can't dress nice, you won't eat here. No problem! Hubby and i walked in on a Friday night for our first dinner there. Service was absolutely spot on. Definitely solid props to Carmine's for the excellent and spot on service! The waiters are dressed up to the nines, and our big quibble was being seated at a tiny 2-person table - we hardly had room for our bread basket and bruschetta appetizer, much less my Peroni and hubby's sparkling soda water! Said bread was awesome. Almost hot and wonderfully soft. The bruschetta was thick, dripping with olive oil, and included chopped black olives (not a prob for me, but hub-hub was a bit taken aback as he's not an olive fan). But the flavor? Nice indeed otherwise. I ordered a bow tie pasta with Italian sausage. Now THIS is where the demerit kicked in. The pasta and sauce was perfecto-mundo. The sausage? Oh my god. WAY too bland and WAY too chewy. Give me some sausage flavor and easier to chew please, Carmines! Hub hub had alfredo sauce w/chicken - his was - by far- the best entree of the evening. I made reservations, and we were sat quickly. It's a nice classy place, perfect for groups or a date. I was with a party of 5, and we ordered wine. We had plenty of food, and most of it was good. However, when we got the bill, there was some confusion on the type of wine we ordered vs what we were billed. Putting aside what actually happened, I was really disappointed on how the MANAGER handled it. He basically blamed us, and was curt with me. I felt he should have handled it better. My wife and I went to Carmine's in Rosemont, ILL. just to have a small bite to eat and a glass of wine! We ordered a bottle of "Sager & Verdier" Sauvignon Blanc and an appetizer called "Misto di mare Frito" this is basically a mix of breaded octopus, chunks of fish breaded and deep fried. The cost was $98 for the wine and $68 for the appetizer. Im not complaining about the bill, since I ordered the items, but when one pays exorbitant prices one expects well prepared elevated food and service. Instead the food was dripping in fat and the breading just fell of the fish and octopus before I could eat it. We will not return to this so disappointing establishment. read more

My wife and I went there for a post-Valentines day dinner. The food and bevs were awesome. We shared a bottle of the Ruffino Modus Super Tuscan and started off with thebcrab cake. it was big enough to share. A rough rule of thumb is that a bottle of wine in the restaurant is three times the price retail. If they ever offer the frutta di mare on linguine on special, I'd recommend it. My wife's veal piccatta was delicious; expecting a particular level of doneness isn't realistic, given that it's pounded pretty thin before being dredged in flour and fried. We had a great dinner at Carmines. Food was excellent we got the hand rolled cavatappi with vodka sauce and the grilled misto. They also have an excellent wine selection and the place is very classy. Our server Orlando was super attentive and warm helping us with recommendations and pacing the meal perfectly for our needs. The manager came over to check on us a couple times as well and he was helping serve the food, very hands on. The low star count has a reason. Please read and understand. This was my second visit to Carmine's in Rosemont, although we've (my Bride and I) been to Carmine's dozens of times, throughout the USA. This occasion - my 66th orbit. So, gentle reader, be warned: having obtained my Government Papers (don't leave home without them!) as a Crotchety Old Man, I will not mince words. This is not my "favorite Carmine's". To explain: we arrived with Reservations, 10 minutes early, 6:45 on a Saturday evening. It took us 7 minutes just to enter the front door. The joint was jumpin'! I should have noted the families leaving the restaurant, especially the youg girls who were all bellowing at the top of their lungs. The tenor was similar inside. Dining areas were completely DEVOID of any sound control, sond baffling, or area separation. Overload EDM was blasting over the speakers as if we were at Disco Dance Club . As a result, every human (adolescent or adult) had to pull their head back and bellow lustily just to overcome the din. Adding to the misery, the too-loud EDM thumping and pumping and wailing and gnashing and gasping made my skin crawl. I was cranky inside of eight seconds. Oh, but wait - there's more! Atop the stew of cacophony, let's sprinkle a couple of middle-aged Bar Strumpets: (you know the specie: 37 YO but dressed and comport themselves as if they were 19), blood alcohol thrice the legal limit, wobbling from table to table, slurring their jokes in a sad echo of their own former adolescence... THIS WAS *BAD*, AND MUST BE RECTIFIED. THE AMBIENCE DESTROYED AN OTHERWISE EXCELLENT MEAL. Having expended 66 years' effort riding this stupid ball of scum, I do not want to spend my Birthday listening to all of this. On the flip side: we were seated near a bussing station, and got to overhear a lot of Insider Intel : the Servers seemed to feel the same pain as we did, but were much jollier than I. The Managers, in suits, were coaching their Servers, positively, while keeping their eyes on diners: an excellent system, expertly executed. Kudos! Our Server, Otto, was visibly overtaxed - too many tables? Too many hours? We'll never know. He never said a word of disparagement. My Bride and I have formerly worked in the Trade, and leave a lot of slack for these Human issues. Otto smiled, and kept attending to us, professionally and unfazed. Perhaps on Disco Nights he draws Combat Pay. The last time my Bride and I visited Carmine's Rosemont, it was a sad, foul February Tuesday Evening, something like 3*F outside. Inside, it was quiet and peaceful. And, on that Tuesday evening I had the best meal of my life - their Zuppa Di Mare. Tonight I had the Skirt Steak with Onion Straws. Both were magnificent, and I find it hard to discern "which was better?" I'm sticking with the Zuppa! With my birthday steak and the noise - I had sautéed spinach: so fresh I thought they grew it in the garden next to Runway 22L! At Carmine's (you select the City; they'll handle the rest!), their Quality of your meal is never an issue - it's EXCEPTIONAL. If it's not, they'll fix it for you. My Bride and I are very precise (and pleasant) when ordering, and have never had an issue. Bottom line,, folks - * Carmine's Rosemont is a 100% first/ world-class restaurant * ...with some architectural noise challenges that need addressing, stat * ... and because they are probably disallowed from tossing inebriated Road Apples on the runways, Management needs to develop an option for that, too. QUIET THAT JOINT DOWN, PLEASE! I will still attend and enjoy your fabulous chefs - but never again on a weekend. read more

The food was awesome--especially the zappa di pesce, which was rich and full of flavor, the veal Parmesan that was perfectly breaded and cheesy, and the meatballs appetizers that were tender and packed with that classic Italian comfort. I was part of an extremely large group and our waiters took great care of me (the allergy problem). Carmine's has vegan options and we're able to cater to my soy allergy. I had the spaghetti primavera which is noodles with olive oil, garlic, and veggies. You never know whether or not to trust such a simple dish but it was amazing! All the ingredients were good and worked together. It also lasted well in the to go box. I'll definitely be back. First of all, food 5out of 5 stars, service the worst we came with another couple on Saturday June 13th at 5:45 pm, actually Will Purdue was there at the same time. We were seated and our waiter greeted us, very nice...at this point we knew that we needed to put in our order as the whole restaurant was going to the same comedy show in Rosemont. Both couples are on the GLP medicine, so my wife and I spilt a meal as the couple we were with. This is when the waiter just profiled us as if we were homeless or cheap super rude and kept digging into us with his rude comments, never in my life have I ever been treated like this very uncomfortable to even eat our food. We ordered drinks during the meal they did not come until we were finished eating dinner, I truly believe he had no interest in our table or what we thought. Do not even want to get into desert as we asked what we can split he treated like we were 5 years old unbelievable with his hands cake is this size ect.... he treated us like losers. My biggest mistake was actually tipping him 25 dollars. After we all left we all felt the same, I have tried to contact the restaurant left 2 messages no one called back. Disappointed in the Direction, Not the Food I've been a longtime fan of the Rosebud family of restaurants -- from Rosebud on Taylor to Carmine's in Rosemont and everything in between. Their food, service, and old-school Chicago charm have always kept me coming back. I've celebrated birthdays, business dinners, and special occasions at nearly every Rosebud location, and I've always recommended them to friends and family. That's why it pains me to write this review -- not because of the food or the staff, but because of the new policies being implemented at Carmine's Rosemont. These rules seem to have less to do with maintaining a classy dining experience and more to do with excluding certain groups of people. Whether it's through dress code enforcement or selective application of "house rules," the effect feels discriminatory and outdated. In 2025, there's no room for policies that quietly decide who "belongs" in a restaurant and who doesn't. Excellence in dining should be about great food, great people, and great hospitality -- not selective enforcement or exclusion. I truly hope the Rosebud group re-examines these practices. They've built a legacy of serving Chicago with pride and warmth, and I'd love to see that spirit restored across all their locations -- including Carmine's Rosemont. read more

I had a really disappointing experience at Carmine's Italian Restaurant in Rosemont, Illinois. From the moment we arrived, the service felt disorganized and unwelcoming, and it only got worse as the night went on. The biggest issue was the manager, Phil, who completely soured the experience. Instead of addressing concerns professionally, he was dismissive and rude, and made it clear that customer satisfaction wasn't a priority. Simple issues were brushed off, and his attitude turned what could have been a fixable situation into a frustrating one. The food was average at best, especially considering the price, and . When you're paying for an Italian restaurant with a reputation, you expect warmth and hospitality -- not irritation and indifference. There are plenty of better Italian spots in the area that actually value their customers. Unfortunately, because of how this visit was handled, I won't be returning to Carmine's. read more

This was our first visit. We came on Thanksgiving' Day. Cute inside. Our server was ok. The bread they give you before the meal was very good. The bruschetta was yucky because they put black olives in it. That's a no no!! The Thanksgiving day meal the one mushroom was fine. The little salad was OK. good size dinner. The mashed potatoes were cold. The sweet potato were bland needed butter and brown sugar. The stuffing was slimy. the turkey was pretty good. The cheese ravioli wasn't bad. You can't go wrong with Italian, and what stood out most here was the ambiance. The space is open, light, and airy on one side, perfect for a casual meal. The other side is dark and sultry--ideal for a romantic date night. My fiancé and I enjoyed the heated patio. We shared the baked ziti and Italian salad--both were amazing. Even the margaritas hit the spot! We went with all of our server's recommendations, and he did not miss. The service was 10/10. Went here with a bunch of colleagues for a work dinner. We started off with some calamari, sausage and peppers, and some stuffed mushrooms. These were all tasty. I'd try them again. For the entree, I was convinced to try the chicken cutlet (Chicken Parmesan style) with a side of alfredo pasta. I'm not sure where they got this chicken but it was huge! It was really good. It could feed 2-3 people in my opinion. The service was good. Our server was attentive. The manager came by a few times to check on us as well. I'd recommend this place. Seabass was 8/10, French fries 10/10, filet was a 8.5/10, chicken Milanese 8/10, work be a 9/10 but the salad wasn't as good and they don't let you substitute anything it comes with - pasta was 7/10, bread was fresh, and chicken parm was a 8/10 - we were a group of 4. Capers salad wasn't a 8/10 - I The ambiance was good - waiters were quick and punctual with the reservation. Overall service was an 8/10 - I would give it a shot but none of the entrees came with a side, not even our $72 steak, most places at least give you one side.. while I don't regret going I won't be returning :) read more
