We are big fans of off-season visits to Firefall Ranch's sister property, Rush Creek Lodge, and were excited to visit this recently opened location just 20 miles away on Highway 120. The quality of the lodging, tavern's and outside areas of both sites is quite good. But they aren't copy cats. And to generalize about the vibe, we'd say Rush Creek is more outfitted for families with young children. Firefall Ranch still is working on its grounds and is adding a stable/horses, but we thought overall it is a wee bit more adult. Some key differences include Firefall Ranch has 55 cabins, not lodge rooms. (We were told 55 more cabins are on their way.) We stayed three, mid-week nights in early March and found our cabin to be spacious, well decorated and outfitted - including with a good-sized refrigerator, and indoor-outdoor fireplace with a decent sized deck. It was very comfortable, more similar to the upgraded 2-bedroom Villa's at Rush Creek. A highlight of our stay was SNOW! Plus discovering that the service also is quite good at FR and the staff is very attentive, but not in a fake way. Even the dude loading logs into the public fireplace asked how we were doing and if we needed anything. Food at the Tavern was fine. In the off-season the restaurant space is not opened except on weekends. We like the Tavern atmosphere at both locations, but the FR bar seating appears larger than at RC. Menu offerings appear to feature similar type dishes at both locations for breakfast and dinner; not sure about lunch. Much of the landscape and trees around the FR main buildings and cabins is new. The young trees still have some growing to do. But the back area is forest, with mature evergreens which is delightful to see. We'll be back again and look forward seeing how FR fills-in. Retired folks with flexible schedules and tight budgets: We got a good deal on our cabin after spotting a Black Friday reduced rate for 2-nights at FR and we piggy-backed on that with a 3rd-night half-off offer for March stays. We got the villa! I usually refrain from posting redundant reviews but this so called "Resort with Restaurant" had descriptions provided by the waiter that was never met. We persuaded to order the higher end menu with a 30 OZ filet and ended up having roughly 8OZ that was edible. ($100 for a filet 8OZ pan seared filet that was HALF RAW American Wagyu. Very little flavor profile considering a pan sear can be based in many sauces. Left me hungry rest of evening. On the second night, our group decided to give another chance and ordered Squid puff pastry and it was completely hollow and tasted like stale goldfish. Not sure how 2 pieces of goldfish ended up costing me almost $20, but this was probably one of the worst dishes we have had. Also ordered a Lobster fettucine that was roughly half the size of a ramen bowl, and did not contain lobsters... It was clearly 1-2 pieces langoustine. As many know, langoustine only have meat on the end tail, we were essentially eating tail portions for advertised $42 "LOBSTER fettucine". Just wanted to give a perspective to PLEASE NOTE NOT TO DINE HERE. As the other review states, the sizes amount to smaller than kids portions. You will leave hungry and rely on smores for dinner. A few dishes taste wise were 2/5 Max ( ok for a national park), but for the price, i was extremely disappointed due to the amazing cabin atmosphere. I no doubt can cook a better filet than their Head chef, no disrespect, which is highly highly disappointing. FYI ( the bone marrow they advertise is not real bone marrow, it's reduced sauce that tastes like chimichurri) cook wise. Ordered medium rare and half of it was rare. A simple meat thermometer would have done the job, right? NOTE ***: For future lodgers, there is a much cheaper and hearty food area 5 mins drive away, the Tavern is overpriced. However, the manager at Tavern was very professional and attended to our needs, but unfortunately the kitchen food quality was very amateur and not up to par. So disappointed. This is our second visit and we love the property. We just checked out and walked in to leave our keys and walked into the store. The person working there at 9:50 am right now came out of the stock room and she gave us a side eye and didn't even greet us. Why have her work there if she can't be nice to people? You can go back on the camera and look. It would be nice to have more friendly employees when you're spending this kind of money at a lodge. read more

Too annoyed to write a full description but I will leave my Pros and cons below: Pro: Location, well thought out layout, picture perfect, comfy settings. Con: staff makes you feel unwanted; Not with one interaction but everyone from front desk, general store to restaurant. They make you feel like they're doing you a favor and you are bothering them each time you interact with them. Two shower heads in bathroom but only one actually flows, the other is clogged. S'mores they advertise are Stale, the crackers to the marshmallows. the pool is "heated", it's not. Definitely warmer than outside on a 45 day night but definitely not heated. Restaurant isn't consistent with quality, taste or portions. Same price as neighboring property "rush creek" but the value is much better there. read more

It's too bad that some of the reviews here arent as positive as we had enjoyed it to be although since this will be recent, I would like to leave to more up to date review for a family of 5. Upon arrival, the inside lobby had an upscale interior design, modern farmhouse resembling their namesake. We checked in 4 hours later than the check in time and was greeted by friendly male staff at the front desk. Our room was perfectly situated for our family needs: close to the mini golf, kids rock climb and net area with bean bag toss. The double sided wood burning fireplace was a great spot for their nightly smores shin dig done every night from 6-8pm under the star constellation filled sky, great for all travellers to keep warm and roast marshmallows while exchanging salutations. In that area there are games for all to keep busy. My kids loved that, basketball, shuffle boards, ping pong table it keeps you active and engaging. There is a huge pool which is usually kept around 84 degrees for people to enjoy swimming in due to chilly weather. The pool area has lovely cabanas and great chairs for laying in under the sun I am assuming better during the summer. There are also 2 hot tubs that can easily fit a party of 12 I believe or thats what I saw from afar but it was big enough for myself and my family. There is a lounging area with another fireplace indoors and more games to enjoy indoors. If you also want to be outdoor the premise is tailored for just that- there are plenty of bicycles free to use many firepits to sit in front of and share stories and a large pond that you can skip rocks into. This was all fantastic to get into after a day of Yosemite exploring which by the eay the entrance was 25 minutes from this Ranch. Our cottage had ample space, 1 room plus a master bedroom with a two sided fireplace (other side faced the balcony which was sweet for sitting next to while looking at the night stars) and a full sized bathroom. A coffee/tea station in its corner along with wine glasses and mugs and room temperature controls adjustable to your liking. The restaurant was great as far as staff goes as they are warm, welcoming and friendly. Greg was our waiter and he accomodated us plentiful he was so helpful in suggesting which dishes were good to try. When my toddler wasnt eating the mac and cheese they had he brought us something else to her liking. The duck breast was amazing and the rib eye steak. The staff, all were so accomodating friendly and helpful in the way they served. Joel, the manager was often seen running around and keeping busy with the place. He was so personable - that is so nice when someone is this way. The first night he welcomed us - the way a friend would like they havent seen you in so long and are glad you stopped by. On serveral ocassions we kept seeing him but it shows how involved he is in all departments at Firefall. He was making sure everyone was taken care of and that staff were doing ok too. A rarity in majority work places. All while doing so he was so pleasant to speak with and thats something we will truly remember is how the people at the Ranch carried themselves out and help make our stay a fond memory and we are already planning the next trip back. Recently stayed at the new firefall ranch just outside Yosemite. This property was well thought out. The layouts of the cabins/cottages are stellar, with a nice balance of luxury and modern convenience while also maintaining the simple and cozy feel to maximize on the scenic setting. We particularly appreciated the dog friendly atmosphere, not only just in the rooms but at the tavern for dining and across the property. Staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. We enjoyed dining on property most days, the food was enjoyable. The growing pain they maybe need to work out in being so new is there was some noticeable inconsistency in the food. One day the omelet came with toast the other day it didn't. One day the side of veggies was a modest portion with garlic and white wine flavor, the next day it was a massive portion with no garlic/flavoring. It was hard to know what to expect if you wanted the same of what you'd liked. I had amazing chicken dish one night, loved it so much we had it again the next day and it was overly salty and the polenta seemed like it had been sitting there/dried out. 2 totally different dishes, expect it was a different chef. Located only 15-20 minutes from the Yosemite big flat oak entrance, we had no trouble getting in and out to the park. read more

We spent 4 days here in 2024 and just spent 4 more in 2025. The first trip here, they had only been open for maybe 6 months. There was some kinks that needed to get worked out as with any new establishment, but there staff has always been top notch so that wasn't an issue from the start. The kinks don't even need to be mentioned because they were all worked out Positives: *staff is polite, patient, professional, friendly/fun And extremely accommodating * room service is excellent *amenities are plentiful nice pool area, put put golf, horse back riding *gorgeous resort, cabins have a great blend of modern meets the woods *most of the dishes we had were cooked excellent and plated beautifully *great family establishment with a lake, fire pits, and bikes to ride around on Negatives: *I have nothing negative to say about this establishment. This a review for the Restaurant. This is our second visit, the first was not very enjoyable and was overpriced. Surprisingly they have updated their menu and it shows, the appetizers We're all great....the mains were fairly small, but were really the right size....we were not stuffed an all enjoyed. Desserts were all good, from the apple tart, the pot de creme and the chocolate tart. Pleasantly pleased that restaurant has improved. The service by Linda was spectacular. Went there for Mothers day 2025. Live locally and wanted something new to surprise my wife. It was excellent. Swam in the salt water pool, my wife had some delicious drinks and then we ate dinner in the fancy restaurant. The prime rib was delicious. The staff at the front desk were so friendly upon our arrival and our waitress that night was phenomenal. What a great experience and i will be back. Stunning property & comfortable accommodation. Every staff member that we came in contact with was very friendly. A very reasonable distance to the Yosemite National Park west entrance. Mini golf, complimentary smores kits, general store, ping pong, shuffle board table are just some things to do that are available on site. A great place to bring dogs. They really do mean dog friendly....kennels with pads and dog bowls are complimentary. The food is fresh and flavorful from the restaurant. Safe, new and very clean grounds. We came here the day after Christmas and the cabins are wonderful! They are well appointed, bathroom is great, the two sided fireplace creates a very nice atmosphere. We ate at the restaurant and the menu had enough choices, was affordable and well prepared. Good assortment of cocktails, excellent service and best of all..even the restaurant is "dog friendly" (They are new so I'm sure some jerk will put an end to that but I loved it even though we didn't bring our pup) They have a decently stocked market and gift shop where you can get a coffee drink as well....free bicycles to roam around the property, an evening light show with s'mores for the kids..family board games in the cabins..good wi-fi and best of all! We were family of 5 adults over Christmas and it was deeply Enchanting! Rustic chic. Everything only 8 months old with vaulted ceilings wood beamed interior/exterior cottages and villas. Private balcony' with indoor/outdoor fire place! Architecture rich with Wood work. Filled with night light, trails and bridges to the grounds ...all dotted with fire pits and 2 hot tubs across expansive pool available 24 hours! . All around a huge pond. we got the H loop cottage with pond /pool/lodges deck view. High light: hot tubs 24 hours, mist over pools at night, beautiful lighting throughout grounds Bikes, frisbee golf pro 18 holes, mini golf, hay rides, dog friendly, fireplaces, ultimate destination gathering place for large gatherings! Restaurant should continue to grow towards excellence and got a 2 star review in overall score only because we had a charming but inexperienced waitress missing wine presentation skills and timing of course. But delightful young person! Christmas Dinner was pre-fix with inequalities of food choices across the courses ie: dinner roll vs. large plate of house made hummus with pita and calamata olives(like twelve) and 8 oz Filet Mignon very Delicious vs. Falafel over pita also delicious but really? Limited vegetarian/vegan. But was available one choice each course. Huge portions except for the roll The Bones are in place to be excellent. Firefall Ranch is the latest from the group that owns Rush Creek (our favorite place near Yosemite) and we got in with the grand opening rates - which was nice! Overall we were very pleased with our stay. The staff was very friendly and helpful, the food is excellent, the cabins are brand new and very nice. Our stay was during the crazy heat wave that hit and we were glad the cabins are spacious, comfortable and have central A/C. The pool area is open 24/7, which was also really great during the heatwave. The property is huge and will make a great wedding destination for the Bay Area folks. The property offers a lot of things for the kids to do: swimming, rock climbing, free bikes, lots of trails, games or all sorts - they really made the place family friendly. Except - the food. As with Rush Creek, there is one restaurant option on site and not much within an easy drive. I think they would benefit from offering some options for families. The menu items are all good (everything we tried) but there isn't enough that sounds good to anyone under the age 18. I'd recommend getting a wood fired pizza oven out on the patio and add things like hot dogs, Ramen and other noodle dishes to keep the little ones fed and happy. The cabins have microwaves and coffee and a fridge - so we brought in food for the kids. I'd also consider offering packed lunches to go as most of the guests head into the park and it would be great to bring a picnic as the park itself has limited food options. We usually visit the area in the Fall and Winter and I look forward to going back here and using the fireplaces etc. the drive from Firefall to Rush Creek is about 20 mins. From Rush to the park entrance is about 10. The ranch is located in a remote area, on the edge of the Park and they have done a great job staffing the place and giving it a resort feel. So the food was amazing(we came here for dinner since we were part time local). They need to work out same minor kinks but no issues from kitchen. Like they need to have appetizers come first and then the mains. 6 tequila shots - pricey, but not out of reality. What really got me and the reason for 3 stars, was I wanted gelato - which they sell at the main store - which closes at 10, and the restaurant told me that, is that they "close" the gelato stand at 9:30; which only involves putting lids on the gelato and this was 9:33. They could have easily opened the lid from vanilla and it would have been perfect. Also the girl at the store was rude. I'll give them another try in the future and update the review. read more

This oasis is good not only for the elevation sickness stop, but also a wonderfull stay itself. They kept nature untouchable, nice pond, squerells. The food and the service were exceptional each time. The property was absolutely amazing, especially the fall colors on the hill behind the resort. Had the pleasure of staying at Firefall this summer and it is the newest addition to the Yosemite hotel scene. All the rooms and amenities are equal to (or better) than other luxury resorts I've stayed at. Worth the price of what you pay. The cabins are huge, private, and have amazing beds. The pool is stunning and has cabanas. There are bikes on property, a volleyball court, rock climbing, and walking trails (with more to come). The resort caters best to families and couples traveling together (and is dog friendly!). The restaurant/bar has amazing food and once the staff is more trained up, they will get faster at bringing it all out - but worth the wait! You are also very close to downtown Groveland so there are tons of off-site eating options nearby (and a brewery pretty close by). The main lodge also has a game room/library and a general store with snacks - try the gelato! You could use this as your base for hiking Yosemite (20 minutes to entrance), or simply never leave the property! It is also offered as a wedding venue, and the event lodge looked beautiful. read more

Ah, Firefall Ranch. Named after Yosemite's most stunning spectacle - an illusion of flames dancing the waters of Horsetail Falls. A fitting name, as this hotel itself is an illusion. A "luxury" hotel. Expensive to stay at, an instagrammable pool, and otherwise remarkably underwhelming. "Elegant and private," the rooms feature such amenities as beds, a bathroom, a basket with Jenga, and a good conversation about what the words "elegant" and "private" actually mean. At night, the walkway to your villa is a great spot to view the stars, as it will lack any pathway lighting. If you're so lucky as to make it to your villa with your ankles intact, you'll be greeted by digitally downloaded artwork, pixelated in some cases, and hung with such care that the pencil lines are still on the walls. A quick tour of your 2-bedroom villa reveals that it's actually a 1-bedroom villa with a king bed in the living room, alongside the pull-out sofa. "Sleeps 6" and "privacy" be damned! Choose one because you can't have both. You're assured a quiet night of rest, however, as this hotel has nothing in your room for entertainment. Unless you're lucky to get a room with a couple board games. Our villa's bathroom was outfitted with residential fixtures from Home Depot. I have the same shower door at home. I got it on sale. Our shower head, already tired, had given up on life. I had to pull it apart and fix it myself to get water from it. One could say I truly felt at home since I fix the showers there for free, too. The primary bedroom, aka living room, lacked curtains where they were actually needed: on the windows. This helped us get an early start to our day... a very early start. The see-through fireplace was stunning and provided a view of the wildlife outside. It also gave the reverse. I could see people changing through theirs since some of the villas have fireplaces overlooking the walkways. The fridge and microwave were must-haves. A table, too! If they'd actually provided one, of course. I can hear you saying "go eat at the restaurant, silly!" We tried! We were turned away because they couldn't handle... wait for it... feeding the hotel's guests. The manager very honestly told us that we could be seated, but probably wouldn't get any food. The kitchen was very stressed out that the restaurant actually had people in it. We were directed to a restaurant 5 minutes away with meals described as "hearty and affordable." Props to Hungry Buck Cafe, where the waitstaff were actually incredibly kind and we had a great dinner and breakfast. When you're finally able to get food at Firefall's tavern, you'll be treated to such dishes as chicken and rosemary polenta, the plate dusted with powdered supermarket poultry seasoning, and an "artist's salad" with a "fuchsia egg:" A regular hard-boiled egg dyed pink to make it pretty. The pots de creme was made with chocolate so exclusive that, when we asked what it was, we were told "the chef says it's Belgian." Speaking of Belgian, the best thing I ate all weekend was a Belgian waffle from the bar inside Yosemite Park's campground. It was insanely good. Check out Bar 1899! Having now completed my stay at Firefall, I do want to close my review with some recommendations for future guests: 1. Make sure you visit their sister property, Rush Creek, about 20 minutes away. If you want to do anything fun at all, or even eat dinner, you'll likely have no choice anyway. The restaurant there was great. 2. When you check in you'll be asked if you want housekeeping to come every day. This is probably just a survey they take to see who cares about the environment. It has no impact on whether housekeeping will come to your villa or not. 3. If you need extra towels because Housekeeping isn't showing up, be specific about how many you need. "Extra towels" seems to imply just a single bath towel. I had to play this fun game where you stare out the window and wait for the housekeeping cart to come by so you can go out and steal more towels. 4. If you go to the general store for anything be sure to yell your requests loudly to the person behind the counter. She can't hear you through her AirPods. She actually has no idea you're even there so you can probably just take stuff and go. 5. Bring your own cream for your coffee. There is none in your room. I promise. There are 2 small packets of non-dairy creamer powder. If you use it, it will never be replaced. They sell cream in the general store by the pint, at the smallest. Also, bring your own stirring sticks or grab them from the general store when you check in. There are none in your room and it takes a good 10 minutes to walk to the general store to grab them. 6. This "luxury" resort doesn't have robes. Bring your own. Overall, we had an excellent visit to Yosemite. Firefall was far from the reason why. It was highly overpriced and mediocre. read more

This will be a fabulous resort once they work out their kinks. They will be missing the mark however if they don't get it together in their wine list and training staff in the wines. This is California and people come from all over the world expecting to taste California wines. They offer Italian wines for heavens sakes! Additionally, servers should be trained on EVERY aspect of the wine selection. Our server had not even TASTED any of the wines! We were shocked. Have California wines and a few Italian or other but to predominate with anything but California wines is a HUGE mistake. I don't go to Italy and expect to drink California wines! read more

I would give more stars if able. This place is a true gem! So much to do. I went with three girlfriends to check it out and have lunch after a hike a few miles away. The food was great and the service was great as well. Daisy was our server and she was lovely and made our experience fantastic. We walked the grounds afterwards to check everything out for a future girls weekend. The resort is beautiful, this review is for the restaurant we tried it once for breakfast and it was mediocre, we brought some friends with us the second time and breakfast was terrible, long wait times, and had to ask for every single basic items salt, pepper, creamer, syrup 2 to 3 times took 20 minutes to get syrup by that time my pancake was cold, an ordered extra egg came out at the end with the bill! Then there were issues with the bill, we tried to express the unfavorable experience to the restaurant manager and he had a predisposition, heard me out but that's it, no apology and excused the reason why we had to ask (beg) for basic items and wait for them is because the chef didn't want to automatically provide items until guests asked for them. Terrible management practice. We will not return. You can find a much better breakfast across the street at Tangled Hearts! read more

I stayed here about a month ago. You could tell that they just recently opened everything was brand new and that wasn't that many people there. But with a new place you have issues with some service some logistics and some kings that you got to iron out. I was okay with that, The password all pebbles and we had to drag our suitcases to our cabin over rocks it was until later that we we saw that there is one cart for that whole area that was put back near the parking lot it just seems like they should be more carts and it should be labeled to help with checking in. The restaurant food was definitely not worth it and the service was kind of inconsistent. But I could have forgiven all of that and the reason for the two star review is that I left my medical pillow in my room after checkout I called the dusk and it took a few times for someone to pick up and I told him I left my pillow there in the last 30 minutes and they offer to ship it to me and I was grateful since then we haven't received it and I called and left a voicemail I never received a call back or an email about it so looks like it's not going to be returned I understand that it was my fault for leaving my pillow there and it's a medical pillow that was $200 but at least communicate and let me know and I know for a fact that I left it there and it was in a totally different color pillowcase so it's stuck out a lot but I never received any kind of communication which is very disappointing I really liked staying at Rush Creek for years but it seems like in their efforts to expand customer service isn't on their list of priorities. read more

Ate at the tavern recently. We sat outside. The weather was perfect. Drinks were good. However the tavern food was less than expected. I had the chicken sandwich. It was dry. The greens that I ordered with it was very salty, so much so that I could not eat it. Others shared a burger, also dry and the salad as well as fries were very salty. Overall..on the pricy side, food underwhelming, but the ambiance was great. Talked to 2 friends that wet there recently and compared notes. They had the same response as outlined above. Went to this place a week ago with wife and kids. The cabins and rooms are all really nice and updated like a 5 star hotel. The resort is still under construction and not completely finished yet. We really enjoyed the bicycles they have outside the cabins throughout the whole resort you can just grab and ride around. The only downfall of this resort currently is the Restaurant. They are way over priced for mediocre food. They charged me $24.00 for a Burger with no meat. We ordered a couple kids meals and some tasteless plates and are bill was over $300.00 dollars. I would stay away from this their restaurant. I would rather make my own ham sandwiches than eat at this place. And beers are $10.00 by the way .Other than that the Resort was pretty nice and kids enjoyed it. read more
