This past year , we started extensions, but I had the idea of wanting to go lighter without a full bleach or damage... I tried this salon. We all know everyone's hair is different and results can vary. I asked for a base color BROWN and partial balayage - no red. It's been 4 years since I have had this done and I have been box dying my roots for 20 years. Anywhere that was bleached is burned. Like I stood over fire. She said "I started out lighter, because it's easier than start dark and go lighter" that is not what I asked for. With that said, when she checked the color did she not also check the integrity of the hair? I had stripes, fried stripes. I texted her and the response "oh no I'm sorry that you aren't liking the results". She cut it first so now I'll have to go shorter to clean this up. I went into ULTA and they thought I had done this to myself. They suggested that too high of a developer with foils was the issue. Think early 2000 foil highlights. No, I paid 500.00 for these "results". I googled what I asked for to make sure, like maybe I said the wrong thing, I didn't. No empathy no suggestions for how to help stabilize for now. That's the most surprising part. A little empathy goes a long way. Acting like this is normal and also somehow my fault, then schooling me on a words definition? That's the worst part. Maybe some client relations training, empathy and accountability. You can be accountable without even taking fault. I get it. You don't refund. I get it everyone's hair is different. And you hadn't ever done mine. The response made the crashout so much worse. read more

I've seen Kandy many times and she has always done the best color on me forever! I went to a different place due to time and ended up with an awful orange brown color, I was very depressed. I'm so incredibly happy with my bob cut, courtesy of Shelby. She is so kind, patient, and the gal KNOWS her stuff. Seriously, she went the extra mile to make sure my curl pattern worked with my new hairstyle so she went in and textured it to make it more sleek. I used to go to the salon down the road from this place (y'all know the one. The really trendy, pushy with selling ridiculously overpriced products, and snooty one?) but Firefly Collective and my appointment with Shelby REALLY turned me around. NOTE: This is mostly a review of Shelby Sherwood Firefly Collective is a collective of independent hairstylists. When you can, you should support these sorts of businesses; they give the hairstylists much more personal freedom of self-expression and generally have a happier, better-compensated staff. I followed Shelby over here from Snapdragon. She's the best--extremely gifted. She cuts and styles your hair not only based on visual information but also based on feel. You'll notice her touching each lock of your hair to get a feel for it while she works. She absorbs a lot of tactile information this way. It's almost more reminiscent of a sculptor than a simple hairstylist. She's also an expert at coloring and toning hair and trained practically the entire staff at Snapdragon. So if you're looking for someone to color your hair and get the color exactly right, she's your best bet. Honestly, I recommend Shelby to all of my close friends. I'll tell you the same thing I tell them: she's the best at what she does. I don't know how to recommend her any more emphatically than that. read more

She was so cool, so nice and most importantly killed it with my hair cut! I can't wait to come back and see her, she's also a blonde specialist so I'm going to go see her for color as well. I don't usually visit hair salons due to the fact that I have long hair and I fear that I'll always end up with a "but I think it would be better if we did this.." type of hairstylist. Not the case with SnapDragon or Firefly Collective! I just went in for a light trim and some layers. Brittney took care of me and was so sweet! BEST HAIRCUT AND COLOR! I love going to Firefly, although I love going there even more because of Emily Alcocer! She has been doing my hair for the past four and a half years and I wouldn't go to anyone else! She's sweet, down to earth, and smart. I love how she always recommends the best products to use and if something new comes out and believes it will help keep my hair healthy, then I'm all over it! Speaking of keeping your hair healthy, I always go every 6-8 weeks. Yes, you notice the difference! Thanks to Emily for educating me and caring about my hair. This place is cute and trendy. The issue is that I have extensions and since they are known for being great with them, I decided to give them a try. Six months in, I was told I would need new ones. What? I have always taken great care of my extensions using the best products and tools. My last stylist (before I moved) told me that I was one of her best clients at caring for them. I also had my hair colored here. I asked about using a different brand of color or some additive because literally my scalp was on fire. The stylist, Kandee, just said "you're just sensitive". I couldn't believe that she was so intensive to this. I won't be going back. read more

Before moving to Arizona, I used to get my hair done at the Ken Paves Salon in Los Angeles. When I moved to Arizona, I bounced around from salon to salon, trying to find anyone who could replicate what I would get in California, to no avail. Then I found Megan at Snapdragon Salon (now at Firefly Collective). Words cannot even begin to describe how absolutely AMAZING she is. I am blonde, I am so picky about everything--from the size of my highlights, to the tone of the color, to the health of my hair after coloring--Megan exceeds all expectations. She is literally the best hair colorist I have ever been to...EVER. She puts my Ken Paves salon in LA to shame. I'm so happy to have found her. I got my hair done by her last week and have already had 4 people ask me where I get my hair done at in the past 6 days. She's wonderful. If you're on the fence, just go to her. I'm so happy with my cut and highlights from Traci! I researched a ton of hair salons in Phoenix and felt confident booking here after being reassured about their cleanliness standards. I drove from la and was not disappointed. Traci did an amazing job and was meticulously clean and did such an amazing job on my hair! Got a haircut and color by one of the stylists here - won't name names just out of respect. My haircut felt very rushed. And since they don't do blow outs at this time, I left the salon with wet hair so i didn't really see the finished product until I got home. The layers did not look good at all. I had to go to Great Clips the next day to get it fixed. Thankfully the lady at great clips fixed it up for me. The color came out ok though so that's a silver lining. read more
