This is not the first time I've been to Firefly's. My family and I have actually had it three times (1 dine in and 2 take out). The ribs are amazing and the pulled pork is tender. We especially love their beef brisket. The only thing I'd have to knock down a star is the online menu. It's not the clearest thing to understand and order from. First time at Firefly's and their COVID policies are spot on. We wanted this to be great but it was a let down. The pulled pork, ribs, and cucumber salad all excellent. The fried chicken was dry as was the brisket. The corn bread was as expected sweet and tasty. The Mac and cheese was average but tasty. My biggest complaint is the parking. They guided us to an upper parking lot even though the main lot wasn't full. That was reserved for take out. The lot is pull in at an angle but you have to back out the lot, not just your spot. If I go back I will leave before parking there again. Also it's covered in trees and I had the top off of my Jeep. So overall average. We probably will try it again, but this visit didn't leave us with a great desire to get back soon. Thank you Kathryn but our reservation was at 5:45 it wasn't that busy. read more

Fireflies in Marlborough is amazing! It's the "go-to" venue for comfort food, the best wait staff, fun environment and it offers spectacular musical entertainment. I must especially remark on one of the best waitresses ever, Kaleena! Kaleena makes you feel like you're her only table (although she seems to perfectly manage many). She provides your food order promptly while still hot from the oven, and she checks in often enough (without overdoing it) to ensure you have everything you need. Irene and I eat out allot and Street passing this hillside restaurant (well, you can't miss it on Route 20) we decided to stop in for lunch. What a treat. Parking is winding to the upper level and a short walk down. Since there was a wait for the patio, we decided to sit in. Gerry (with a G) was right with us, the consummate server. Pleasant, attentive, conversational. QR codes are a pain. He provided us with paper menus and a list of specials. I opted for an IPA, Irene had a sweet iced tea. Gerry have us some space to look over everything. When he came back, Irene had the pulled pork with Cole slaw and home made chips. I ordered the po'boy with fries and Cole slaw. Another excellent meal. The portions are generous and delicious. Toy full for dessert, we took the bill. I won't comment on price because it's an individual's choice. The Mr. ordered pulled pork with sides as well, both entrées were delicious. I highly recommend the Passion Sunset cocktail, if not you won't be disappointed with the many other cocktails they have to offer. Despite being very hopping and busy, my friends and I got a table quickly with our new favourite server: Kaleena. If you have the opportunity, DEFINITELY ask to be seated in her section. She was everyone you'd need, especially for a first time visit; funny and professionally good at getting you the best of the menu. The energy of the restaurant as a whole is fun, easy-going, and definitely a little on the louder side (not Always a bad thing!). Oh, and rolls and cornbread. It was a lot of food. The fried chicken was juicy, but it didn't lend itself as well to takeout as the pork items as the crispy skin became soggy. The ribs reheated well and were fall off the bone meaty. The cucumber salad was awesome - sweet and tangy and refreshing with the decadent meats. The cornbread is moist and sweet - very good. Can't comment on the pulled pork yet as we filled up on the chicken and ribs and decided to save the pork for another meal. With this craziness, decided to do takeout with DoorDash. Menu choices were as follows:Burnt ends, crazy woo's wings, pulled pork sandwich, 2 meat combo. (Yes someone was with me, could never polish that all by myself!). Never had burnt ends before, (boneless ribs cut up like nuggets) so my taste buds were not knowing what to expect, tad dry, but tasty (as a rib lover). The "crazy woo wings" were next: dry rub placed on a huge wing! Tasty, not over bearing. (Drumstick was big!). Friend who ordered the pull pork sandwich said there was enough for two meals. I'm too full to eat my order of St. Louis ribs, maybe for a follow up review. Bur, so far so good. We don't make it out west very often, but Firefly's was worth the drive! Great experience from the ambiance to the service to the food. The kids declared it their new favorite restaurant. Upon arrival, we could smell smoke in the air, so you know you will be getting real BBQ and not the stuff they try to pass off as BBQ in other places. The service here is absolutely outstanding. The server was friendly and attentive, and no less than 2 other gentlemen stopped by to see if everything was OK. We really felt welcome. Kids gave rave reviews for the chicken and waffles (both the bone-in and the tenders). Ribs were excellent. Amazingly tender without being mushy, good rub without it being overpowering, and the Memphis sauce was great. Sausage was excellent as well. Pretty good bbq along Route 20 in Marlborough. It's been around for a while and I've never tried it. It's well known around the metro Boston area and is often on phantom gourmet and other food shows. Gave it a try a few months back and was impressed. The staff is friendly and attentive and it's a pretty good size and offer valet parking. I gave the kid a $10 thinking he was working solo but when leaving another dude got the car and didn't seem happy I was out of cash. Catch you on the way back next time! We sat at the bar and they were gearing up for some live music that night and when the band got on, it was like a dads garage band playing some classic cover songs. They were good though. The food and drinks were also good. They do a tasty hard Lime Rickey and The fried pickle chips were tasty and served w a delicious aioli sauce. Great start before a feast. I got the pulled pork platter w sides of Mac n cheese and beans w corn bread. Now I didn't order beans bc who wants to be around a guy all night after bbq and beans ? But I forgot what I had ordered but the beans were delicious. As was the Mac n cheese and corn bread. Perfect. The pulled pork was piled high and the sauces were tasty. The pork was well cooked and tasted great. The platter left me in a food coma. The reputation It has was definitely backed up during my trip there. Living in Charlotte, I've come to have an appreciation for barbecue, generally pulled pork or pulled chicken as that's what we're known for in the Carolinas. I've been to Kansas City and I've been to San Antonio, where they're big on ribs and brisket. So when I thought to give a barbecue joint in the Boston suburbs a try, I had very low expectations. What can a New Englander know about cue? Well, I was wrong. This is some good stuff. I had the three meat combo plate: ribs, brisket and smoked turkey. The ribs were meaty and tasty and while not "fall off the bone", the meat was delicious. The brisket was also moist and not an especially "dry" cut. It did need a little bit of the Memphis sauce to kick it up, but not much. And the turkey was excellent. Actually, the turkey was the best of the three. Very juicy, very moist, Cut with a fork sort of stuff. The cornbread was quite good. Dry, but a good consistency that held together well. More like a flat cake. Mac & cheese was only okay. A little glutenous and maybe it should have been hotter. The potato salad was very good with a great consistency and plenty of flavor. Great list of draft and bottled beers, including some local micros and some distant macros. Very good service. Do they know 'cue in Marlborough? Yep. It's the best I've had in the Northeast. Tip: The entrance to the parking lot is to the RIGHT of the restaurant as you're facing it. read more
