I am not a fan. My experience began pleasantly. The cashier greeted me with a smile and was friendly while I ordered. My order: large Honey Lavender Latte and a Lemon Blueberry Scone ($4.95). I was not asked if I wanted my order to stay or go. My scone was bagged, handed to me immediately and I was told my order would be called. I sat down. While I waited for my latte, a man ordered the same scone and a latte as well. The same cashier asked if he wanted his order to here or to go (again, something I was not asked). Then she asked him if he wanted his scone warmed (an option that was not provided to me either). Extremely displeased with the contrast of service or rather lack of service and its inconsistencies. The latte itself had many add on charges as did the order. A large 16oz latte ($7.25) with oat milk ($0.75) and honey lavender ($0.80) selected as the flavor option totaled $8.80. Using your card, there is a charge as well ($0.69). The honey lavender syrup used tasted artificial and the latte itself was not very warm when immediately received. It quickly turned to room temperature milk with flavoring. The lemon blueberry scone is delicious. The scone is crumbly and cakey with a vibrant fresh lemon flavor. The blueberries are not spread throughout and tasted like paper pieces. I stopped eating to remove a couple from my mouth, it felt like I was eating part of the bag. I picked the remaining "blue pieces" out. Now, thankful it was not spread throughout. My intent was to stay for a bit and experience the environment. After the contrast in "service", I definitely did not feel welcomed. Needless to say, I would not recommend and would definitely not return. read more

We were looking for coffee in Sausalito and stumbled upon this spot. We ended up trying the Vietnamese coffee, which was just okay in our opinion. The name comes from the firehouse next door, and it speaks to the welcome small-town vibe the place evokes. Really fire coffee, pun intended! For years Firehouse coffee & tea has been on my bookmarks and finally got to try after a pleasant walk in downtown Sausalito. They did not disappoint. Waited in a short line, the staff was welcoming and friendly. Ordered a basic vanilla latte with oat milk. Really solid coffee and the syrups here are homemade. Working in Marin, my coworker and I typically rotate through a few cafes. At work, lots of people come to the office with Firehouse so I've been curious. During our caffeine carpool chat, I shared we should drop by and I'm so glad we did! We arrived early Friday morning. The cafe was quiet with a few people inside working and hanging out. Love the vibe of the cozy seating and neighborhood feel. There's also an outdoor patio but we didn't have time to look around. It's dog-friendly which is a plus and something I look forward to bringing my dog to. The service was efficient and friendly. Lots of neighborhood folks come by and the vibe is nice! Coworker and I are in our matcha era. We both got the Cardamom Rose Matcha Latte, I enjoyed mine with Soy Milk. This latte was so good, he said it was majority cardamom which I agree with. Very minimal rose flavor. This was a specialty drink but they also served typical coffee and teas. I look forward to trying their specialties or unique syrups! I highly recommend Firehouse Coffee and Tea for both Marin residents and visitors. It's a quaint coffee shop with good drinks. I'll for sure be back for my caffeine run before going to work! There are a few other coffee shops nearby but this one seems to be a local favorite. It's just a block away from a police station and parking is easy with plenty of street/public spots. I ordered the Honey Lavender Latte (Large) ($9) - 8/10. The drink itself was delicious, but I wasn't a fan of the price. Like a lot of places, they list a base price on the menu but don't mention the prices of optional add-ons. I was expecting it to be around $4 but once the barista asked if I wanted all the extras, the price suddenly jumped to $9. I do wish they were a bit more upfront about the upcharges. I'm the type who doesn't like to cancel an order once I've committed so I went ahead and paid but it felt like a bit of a surprise. Still, the latte was tasty so I can't complain too much. read more

This spot feels like the other side of Sausalito--in the best way. If Sausalito Bakery is the pressed-linen, weekend-brunch version of town, this place is where the everyday locals land. Same essence, very different energy. Cozy, familiar, and quietly charming without trying too hard. The space itself is warm and inviting, with a lived-in feel and a glowing sign in the back that somehow makes the whole room feel softer. There's a large communal table, plenty of indoor seating, and a steady hum of conversation that creates excellent white noise. It's a solid place to get work done--as long as you're not recording audio, because it does get a little loud--but for emails, planning, or a casual work session, it absolutely works. Now, the matcha. This is the real headline. I'll be honest: I used to actively avoid ordering matcha here. It was mediocre at best. About five months ago, they changed it--slight improvement, but still not there. I know the ownership was proud of that update, but something clearly changed again since then, because today's matcha was genuinely impressive. Like, stop-what-you're-doing impressive. At this point, I'm comfortable saying this is the best matcha in Sausalito. Egg Lady's is fine, but it doesn't come close. Sausalito Bakery is lovely to hang out in, and their pastries are great--but their matcha is forgettable. This one isn't. (The only matcha I've had locally that competes was at an ERIA Events gathering, but that's not exactly a walk-in situation, so it doesn't count.) If you're in Sausalito specifically looking for matcha, this is the place. They're also great with substitutions, service is quick, and the owner has a genuinely warm, welcoming presence--lots of friendly back-and-forth with regulars, which adds to the atmosphere rather than distracting from it. I didn't try the pastries or sandwiches this time (not much of a pastry person), though everything looked solid. Outdoor seating exists, but with the weather being a bit unpredictable lately, indoor is the move. Fair warning: parking is a hassle. I parked in the lot near Trident, and while it worked, the valet experience was... unpleasant enough that I probably wouldn't do it again. Plan accordingly. All in all, this is a comfortable, local-feeling café with excellent matcha, good energy, and enough seating to make it a reliable go-to. This was our last stop during our day trip to Sausalito, we wanted to take some caffeine with us to go on our drive back! The interior is spacious yet super cozy - there's tables and chairs, and also some soft comfy looking sofa chairs near the middle of the space. We came in on a Sunday at around 1:30pm and there was nearly no one here, so we were able to order super fast. I got the chai latte with oat milk. It was a little too sweet, but still flavored well from the spices and drinkable. Heads up that there may not be any sweetness adjustment available (or at least we weren't offered any) so if you are sensitive to sweetness just be aware that this is on the sweeter side. Been meaning to try this place. I usually have trouble finding parking, but was lucky today. I ordered a honey lavender matcha latte since it is listed as one of the barista favorites, and sounds good. They actually filled it to the brim and warned us to drink a bit before bringing it to the table to avoid spilling. How nice of them haha. It was also served with a cheerful smile. This drink was astoundingly creamy, clean, and oh-so-good! They had their menu on a board on the wall, and some books inside too! As a personal preference, I don't think that their coffee beans were that good. The coffee tasted like acidic berries. We ordered a dry cappuccino with only foam, a Vietnamese iced coffee, morning glory bread, and an almond croissant. For the dry cappuccino, I would not have called this dry with only foam but to each their own. The Vietnamese iced coffee tasted exactly like the cappuccino, just with some sweetener. I'd sooner call it just an iced vanilla latte. Not Viet coffee. Additionally, the lid for the iced drink was not secure at all as if it wasn't supposed to fit that cup. Holding it wrong just by a bit will cause it to pop off. We had it in the car cup holder and the light jostling spilled around 10% of the drink due to the poor lid. The morning glory bread was fine. The croissant was on the dry side. We probably could have gotten better/fresher pastries from the grocery store. Nothing horrible, nothing amazing. read more

Came here at 7:15 in the morning , the place was not busy. The service was on point- cashier was very pleasant and efficient. He listened and placed my order the way I wanted it. Let me tell ya... Honey Lavender Matcha. That's the one. We came to visit my family who lives in Sausalito and about 5 minutes from Firehouse and this is place is such a gem. Comfy couch in front of the big screen with coffee that is carefully crafted? Take me back! Back to the drinks. They have seasonal drinks available but I think we're in-between menus when we arrived. We tried the: -Vanilla Latte which had nice flavor and is a fan favorite if you want some safe and consistent. Well balanced flavors and sweetness. -Honey Lavender Matcha hit me unexpectedly. The matcha was very subtle. I thought it would overwhelm me with that earthiness and it didn't. It was a light background note and complemented the honey and lavender so well. 10/10. I do like things sweeter so I had a bit of brown sugar added. Mwah. -Honey Lavender Latte very subtle and not so sweet. To me, it was like the coffee version of a London Fog. If you like sweet to your coffee, you can add brown sugar on your own at the bar but the flavors were nice and the body of the coffee wasn't overpowering. I had the greatest time at Firehouse Coffee this afternoon! As an Older White Woman Named Karen, I'm contractually obligated to Complain. But this place is so fabulous, I had nothing, absolutely nothing, to complain about! This is a family-run business, and Dana and DJ, father and son co-owners, were sitting at a table near the counter while I was ordering my very delicious Oat Chai Latte. They both laughed when I mentioned that contractual obligation part. We struck up a conversation and they told me their story. Firehouse Coffee has a warm, inviting ambiance, and I highly recommend it. Very welcoming vibe with a mixture of country rustic and a nautical theme. Makes sense since it's in Sausalito and directly across of the boat harbor. Comfy sofas, lazy-boys, and fire-engine-red porch chairs everywhere. Coffee tables, counters, and even a large outdoor patio area for those with dogs, bikes, or just wanting fresh air. I am warmly greeted by the barista. Cappuccino with Oat, Sugar Beignet, Raspberry Beignet is my order. The genuine friendliness of the barista raving about the Chocolate Beignets not available on weekends, but a must on my next visit. At the other end of the long wooden counter drinks being crafted. Two orders ahead of me, however my Cappuccino ready in a few. I find a nice leather or faux lazy-boy chair to enjoy my morning bounty. The Cappuccino on point, and after a day of one too many beers, the choice of Oat as a dairy substitute was perfect (thanks bestie;)) for my inner self. Beignets were not memorable but a nice pairing with Cappuccino! Ahh I relax in the comfy chair and remind myself that today is a good day. Stopped for afternoon coffee. I found this on Yelp, went by the high reviews and everyone was right. It's a good coffee shop with a lot of space inside and outside. They have some vegan pastries for snacks too. The coffee is very good quality and I would go back. The only thing I don't like is they charge 4.5% extra for card payments! If the owner sees this, please take note that this is quite a bit more and I hate that more businesses are adding health care, city fees and other percentages on top of orders. This makes the true cost a lot more and menus misleading. Good thing I always carry some cash. It's a bit pricey for a coffee shop but I really like how nice they are and they are doing a good job. read more
