There's something for everyone here. I was impressed to see a gluten-free vegetarian samosa in the apps! I have a few gluten-free friends so this would be great for them to come a try! On top of that, Avatar's takes pride in being open to accommodate to customers' dietary requqests as best they can, so the menu isn't extremely fixed. Their food and service are top notch! For my first visit, we were greeted warmly and were able to get a table right away since we went at an off peak dining hour. I'm easy, I just went with Dahl and Basmati. It's my favorite thing even tho it's super basic. The dahl was packed full of flavor, eating it was such a delight. I hope someday they'll create a vegan-friendly dessert or even a vegan Mango Lassi. I can't wait for my next visit when I'm in the area.

We had the dal, chapathi, and jerk chicken salad, all of which were tasty, well-seasoned, and satisfying without being overdone. What really stood out was the owner, who is a consummate host. Great spot for clean, comforting food and a warm, personal dining experience.

Ever since I first heard about Fish oh so long ago, I'd been wanting to try them, but just never had much of a reason to come here. Other than to, you know, eat here. However, I had so much faith, in fact, that I even recommended this place to my buddy before I even made my way here. Thankfully, they didn't let me down, as both he and his wife loved the food here! More importantly, now that I've been, so do we! Although it takes a little bit of work to find them (they're on Bridgeway, but away from the touristy part and set back in a marina), Fish is well worth the effort. Not only is the vibe cozy and relaxed, but they've got a ton of seating both inside and out (love sitting by the water!). And, of course, the menu is awesome, as it's filled with so many options, from chowders, raw oysters, and salads to seafood entrees, pastas, and, of course, fish & chips. Plus, they also have menu boards highlighting the day's selection of raw oysters, crab, fresh fish, special entrees, "fish bits", and desserts that are just as interesting and unique! -- WHITE CHOWDER - Traditional New England Clam Chowder with Surf Clams, Cream, Bacon, Potatoes, Onion, Celery, White Wine, and Dried Herbs This was terrific! Although it could've been slightly thicker/chunkier, I liked the consistency of this - smooth but with chunks of potatoes. I also really liked how tender and meaty the clam was, too! -- RAW OYSTERS - Shigoku Oysters (WA) I had never even heard of Shigoku oysters before these, but they were terrific! The oysters were about medium sized with deep shells, which made them super to eat and I liked how they had a bit of sweetness and a bright finish to them. -- WHOLE ROASTED DUNGENESS CRAB with Tomato Sugo Drawn From Roasted Crab Shells over Soft Polenta I don't often order whole crabs like this at restaurants, but this was undeniably tasty. Aside from how messy this was to eat, the crab was sweet, the legs were pretty meaty, and I really liked how the sugo helped reinforce the taste of crab with the polenta. -- PASTA CON VONGOLE - Clams Served over Fresh Housemade Organic Egg and Semolina Linguine with Olive Oil, Butter, White Wine, Garlic, and Red Chili Flake LOVED that they didn't skimp on the clams, which were all so good, as well as the sauce and how it had a slight kick to it. The pasta had a very bouncy bite, too, but I wish there had been more of it and that it was able to hold onto the sauce better. -- FISH & CHIPS - Crispy Beer-Battered Local Rock Cod Served with Housemade Tartar Sauce and Wedge Fries Maybe my hopes/expectations were too high, as this was more decent than amazing. Mainly, while the batter was crispy-ish on the outside, it was a bit mushy on the inside. Still, the cod itself was pretty good and I liked the fries - crisp and not too potato-y. -- GRILLED CALIFORNIA HAMACHI with Housemade Pasta, Shishito Pepper-Cilantro Pesto, and Parmesan I'm so glad we pivoted to this when we saw it on the board - it was so good! The piece of hamachi was sizable, moist, and flavorful while the pasta was just as bouncy and held onto the sauce. If only they didn't use cilantro in their pesto (blech). Despite how Fish's food didn't amaze like how I had hoped it would, I think that has a lot more to do with the high hopes (expectations?) that had built up from the anticipation of finally coming here than anything else. Really, the only thing that might have been an actual bummer was the Fish & Chips, but even then, it was still notably better than others I've had. Besides, it's not like there's a shortage of delicious to pivot to instead! Fish, you'll definitely be seeing me again!

If you're hungry, I'd add an appetizer or a salad. My daughter had a burger and it had a nice charred taste and came with insanely good fries. TWICE AT GOLDEN GATE PARK…read more In the past 11 months I've been to two exhibitions at De Young Museum. After the exhibitions instead of eating at the cafe in the museum I would look at food trucks at Golden Gate Park. After those two exhibitions I've ordered food from this food truck. The first time I came to Cochinita was in September after the exhibition featuring photos taken by Paul McCartney during the rise of The Beatles. The item that stood out from the truck was the elote tots. They were Mexican-style corn kernels top over tater tots. I am a sucker for tater tots. With sour cream and sauce I was worried if the tater tots would be soggy. The tater tots were still crispy. The complimenting textures of corn and tater tots made this a satisfying dish. The second time I came to the food truck at Golden Gate Park was the last day of exhibition "Monet and Venice." I was hoping to see if the elote tater tots were available; they weren't. I scanned up and down the items available listed on the food truck. One item that intrigued me was the tradicional - a plate with two types of fried tortilla. The panucho is regular fried while the salbut is fried with a puffy appearance. I love fried food, but these two tortillas weren't oily. These two kinds of tortilla fried dishes provided different textures to the toppings. I never ate Yucatan food before ordering food at Cochinita. If you are tasting a new cuisine you never had before ordering from a restaurant versus a food truck is different. Whereas in a restaurant while sitting you ask for recommendation whereas at a food truck while you're standing you go with your gut feeling. From my two experiences at the Cochinita food truck I ordered items I never had before and I enjoyed both of them. If I go to the Chochinita food truck at Golden Gate Park again and see elote tots, panucho, and salbut what will I order next time? I'm going to order an item I never had before.

The energy in the restaurant is lively and loud. There were people watching the game at the bar and many parties chatting it up around you. It's a great atmosphere and perfect for a night out. Started off with chips and salsa. The chips were on the thicker side, which I think made the chips crispier if you're into that. It came with two salsas (salsa verde and red salsa). The salsa verde had a fresh, bright flavor with a nice tang. Ironically, the red salsa was a lot milder. It had a slightly sweet, bold flavor but still tasted a bit watery. I ordered the fish tacos, but found they were a miss for me. The accompanying sauces didn't add much to the flavor profile. The toppings and sauce were watery, leaving the overall taste bland. On the other hand, the lamb birria was a hit, but I think I would have preferred a traditional beef birria instead. Had a strong gamey flavor I couldn't ignore. The food did not live up to their presentation. I did enjoy the atmosphere and service, but the food fell flat for me. If I could describe this experience, it would be disappointing.

Please heed my warning (and those of the other most recent reviews!) and save yourself the time,…read moremoney, effort, and stress - hire literally ANY other caterer for your event. After months of poor communication and several displays of unprofessionalism, I tried to cancel our contract 6 weeks prior to our wedding date. I was in a dispute with the owner (Gabe) to try and get a refund for an event he hadn't even catered, and he refused to provide it. Note that the owner himself has stated that he thinks his business is headed to an end. See attached photo for text messages I received from him with this claim. If anything, you don't want to work with someone who cannot maintain a professional demeanor in their client correspondence. In case you need further convincing to NOT hire Ring of Fire, feel free to read through my ordeal below. --- In February of this year, I reached out in search of a wedding caterer. Gabe invited me and my partner to a complimentary tasting with other couples who were interested in booking. The tasting went great (the ONLY thing that went well in all my interactions with them) so we booked and paid a 50% deposit. Over the next few months I reached out to get deadlines and feedback on our proposed menu. After repeated attempts to contact him, the only time he really reached out was to offer a discount on our balance if we paid it early. In hindsight, this should have been a *red flag* - no professional would ever reach out to a client to ask them to pay something in advance of the contract terms unless they were poorly managing their business and finances. Instead, thinking it was gesture of customer service, we went ahead and paid our balance early to get the discount. However, after paying, Gabe unprofessionally asked us to reschedule our already confirmed site tour in favor of booking another lunch. My wedding coordinator and I agreed to reschedule, only to have him NO SHOW for the site tour. 15 minutes after the confirmed meeting time I called Gabe to get his ETA. He didn't seem to know where our venue was (even though he accepted a calendar event with the date, time, and address in it) and told me was still 50 minutes away so we proceeded without him. Had we waited, he would have been OVER AN HOUR LATE. At this point, I lost faith that ROF could cater my event. We were still 6 weeks away from our date so I requested to cancel our contract and get back the balance payment (that HE requested we pay early). Needless to say, he did not want to grant the refund. I worked with an attorney and determined the best course of action was to file a dispute with the credit card company AND to sue him in small claims court as backup. Luckily, the credit card company resolved the dispute in my favor but I still experienced an extreme amount of stress trying to book a new caterer with less than 6 weeks from my wedding date - something I would never wish on any bride. Again, please save yourself the stress and look elsewhere for your caterer.

They were late in getting to my friends birthday celebration. Uncalled for.! The food was just okay but there was not enough for any seconds on appetizers. The staff seemed to not really know what was going on and did their best, alas the coup d'etat that the dessert was melted. Relatives of the birthday party ended up going to a local store to get dessert for the party because the catering staff was at a loss of what to do, to fix the problem, it was awful. This company is so unprofessional. I would never recommend them to anyone. Just bad, bad, bad on every level.
