We were both surprised how good both orders were! The hash was a mixture of grilled chicken and root vegetables Cooke just right and topped with pesto sauce. The scrambled eggs and outstanding toast were served on the side. Yum! I enjoyed every bite and was really more than I usually eat at midday. The mussels were in a creamy tomato based sauce...spicy and delicious with grilled bread for dipping as the mussels began to disappear and the sauce revealed. It was a nice surprise to later walk the beach with full stomachs and appreciate the incredible views on a sunny day along the Marin coast!

We came here three separate times during our stay and they always had what we needed....Toothbrush, razors, cold drinks, sandwiches, snacks and they were just a 5 minute walk from the rental. **Side note in case anyone is searching reviews looking for a bathroom** I was outside one afternoon with our dog waiting on the bench in front for my husband to grab me a drink and a car full of young ladies pulled up doing the potty dance and rushed in. There are signs that say "no public restroom" and I guess staff adhered strictly to it because they came out panicked and still squirming. I told them I wasn't from the area but there is a park across the street and although it's a little hidden, there is a porty potty on the East side. They thanked me and ran off and later thanked me again when I saw them in town. If we stay in Stinson again, I won't worry about overpacking because this market has what you need....except a bathroom!

Even if the prices were different, I probably would not return to this cafe. The sandwich was the most disappointing part of my experience. A new location is planned for 4th Street in San Rafael. The bakery changed ownership in 2021, and while quality remains high, it no longer feels as special as it once did when ex-Tartine alums established the cafe. The menu stays the same, the dining space is a bit more worn, and bathrooms could use more frequent attention. Service is friendly, but can be slow. I still enjoy stopping in, particularly on a sunny day to enjoy the outdoor space, but things haven't felt quite as special since the original owners moved on.
