We were able to get the bulk of our stuff moved with the help of friends and trucks but there were some large pieces we just couldn't do on our own. I really appreciate that they don't have any hidden costs. On the day of the move the movers showed up on time. They called us 30 minutes before they arrived to give us a heads up. There were 3 guys that showed and they were amazing! So respectful and so kind. They moved quick and got all of our stuff out of the old house and into the new house in under three hours. Three men and a 32 feet truck arrived promptly on time. After walking through the house with us, they started loading up and seemed to complete in record time. I had a great move this weekend with Firehouse movers! I'm more than happy with my experience. When I did a quote through their website, it was very detailed and I got to list everything I had so they were prepared. They called me back the next business day to set everything up. And they charge by the hour, not by the use of space, so I could add a few more things last minute and it wasn't a big deal. On the day itself, Noe and his crew showed up and were SUPER friendly, with a great sense of humor. They were detailed, quick, and efficient. I was quoted for 4 hours (which I thought was a bit much, but was grateful for going over rather than under with the quote), but Noe and his crew were done in 2 hours - and that was moving me to a second floor apartment, even. Additionally, we had to make a stop at my storage space on the way to my new place, but there was no extra charge for it. The only critique I would give is that when I first set up the moving date, the woman in the office told me I would be the second move of the day. I realized the night before my move that I didn't fully know what that meant. I knew they couldn't give an exact time but through the FAQs on their site it seemed like each crew do a morning move and an afternoon move. So I called in the morning to clarify if they would be coming in the late morning or afternoon and the woman seemed pretty annoyed with my question, to the point that when I was trying to clarify, she said in an annoyed tone, "Ma'am I have someone on the other line." Not sure why she would have answered and not put me on hold if she couldn't have conversation with me. Or why she was annoyed when I was just trying to have a better understanding. I've used these guys twice now and both times they were fast, courteous and very helpful. The office staff is amazing: very responsive and super nice. They helped me change my date twice, I think and not once had an issue. The price for the move was awesome as well. I was quoted for 3 hours 45 min $500-800 range. At the end I was told it was $865 for 4 hours. Clearly I was informed wrong. I expected a $600 dollar bill as we moved all clothes , dishes , lamps and designer items along with 85% of our garage. We only moved two blocks and we had had 3 guys doing the work. Don't get me wrong , they were nice but one was hurt ( ankle issue ) and one was relatively newer but they still got it done. We fed them lunch and tipped each $45 bucks. They need better people providing quotes as I was extremely precise in telling their people what needed moved which was 2 king beds and one dresser and 2 night stands, a dining table , TV stand and a couple TVs. W removed everything else. Pretty expensive imo. read more

I unfortunately did not have a pleasant experience with Firehouse Movers. I initially requested a quote for a pod loading, and another for loading into their truck to take to storage. After discovering the trip and fuel fees, I realized it would be easier for Firehouse Movers and more economic to schedule this as one service on the same day and time. The loading was at my house, and the storage was 7 minutes away. When I spoke to the person on the phone she indicated they would be put together and I would only be charged for the trip and fuel charge once, plus the hours of labor. When the movers arrived, the lead mover stated I had two separate contracts and that it would take 5-6 hrs to complete both. Over the phone I was told the movers would do a round of the house, listen for instructions, and then start the clock. The lead started the clock before I even stepped outside. He was not open minded at all, was not ready to listen to what I needed, and quite frankly had an attitude. I told him I wanted the job complete as close to 2 hrs as possible. Keep in mind everything was already packed and labeled. He made a face and said the job would take about 5-6 hours. I have moved many times, and it never takes this long. It seemed like he just wanted to take advantage to overcharge. I live alone, so I do not have many belongings. He even stated I could start loading the Pod myself. He was also upset that I requested to stretch wrap as much as possible, as my furniture is mainly white. The phone concierge had assured me that they would stretch wrap everything and she added a stretch wrap charge on my quote for this same reason. The lead mover was very resistant, and just made the already stressful experience more stressful. I also spent time labeling EVERYTHING the night before, and he was not careful reading my labels. I caught him twice with Pod boxes putting them into the storage truck-the young men were careful with this. Additionally, at the storage, I had to state there was a chair in there that was Pod. It just felt like he was careless. I had to go back to the storage later for some pillows that were clearly labeled Pod. The way he organized the storage was also very odd. He put boxes toward the back and the mattress toward the front. If I have to go back into the storage, I am out of luck trying to access any boxes. He also stacked furniture on furniture, heavy items over furniture, and placed a mattress and box on top of two tables. Another stressor now is wondering if there are any items there that should have been in the Pod, and if my furniture will be damaged with the odd organization (stacking heavy things over furniture and having it stored that way for a year). Lastly, they did take 1 hr and 45 minutes (rounding up) to load and unload for the storage. He was very adamant that he had to go in order since there were two contracts. It is logical and efficient to load both the Pod and their truck first, then unload into the storage and be done, but I adhered to his rules of doing it per contract-even though again, the person I spoke to on the phone did not state I had two contracts. Because of the two contracts, it dawned on me that the Pod loading would have to be a minimum of 1.5 hrs. What was left to store into the Pod was for less than 500 SQ FT and everything was packed and wrapped already. I stated the concierges I spoke to when booking did not explain this and there should only be one contract. He then said he would call the owner and let me know what he said. When we got back to my house, he stated the owner would allow the charge of only the labor needed and not the 1.5hr minimum. At this point, I was already frustrated with the bad experience I decided to load the Pod myself. I do want to point out the 2 young men that were part of the crew did most of the work, were respectful, efficient, and very hard working. For the leader, he really needs to be open minded, LISTEN, improve his customer service, and not want to "milk" the system at the expense of the customer. Considering the stress of this service, and now wondering if my furniture will be damaged, I do not recommend Firehouse Movers. I was very confident in their services per the great reviews, and unfortunately that was not my same experience. read more

This company is AWESOME! Our crew..Israel, Tony, & Ricky were wonderful. Careful, professional, fun, and FAST! Just to tell you how great they are... Our 2 kitties were in a room with hubby while movers were taking things out. 3 doors to the outside were open. One of our kitties "escaped" and ran into the open area. I was trying to catch her and yelling her name. In a split second I heard 3 doors shut...boom, boom, boom! They sensed what was happening and they got the doors shut so our kitty was safe. Overall very pleased with service and movers. Things did not as planned but we rolled with the punches and kept it moving forward. We did schedule 3 weeks ahead of our move for a 3 man moving crew and received a confirmation call the Friday before our scheduled move. We scheduled a 7 am move, They arrived on time , only two guys though... thankfully I paid my teenagers the weekend prior to move all of our boxes, so all that was left was the furniture. 6 hours later they were done (moved 25 miles away). They did pack and secure everything well. We had them take apart our master bedroom furniture and when they put it back together he screwed the screw through our dresser mirror. It was not major damage, it truly was an accident- I did not file a claim or receive money off ( I didn't want that either). They scuffed a few walls again nothing major, so I took it as the right of passage with moving. I made sure to tip them cash and appreciated their hard work. I was overall very pleased. Only thing that would have gotten them 5 stars would have been the desired 3 man moving team. Things just always move faster with 3 people. Pro's: 1) Admin staff was friendly, easy to work with, and communicated well. 2) Affordable. Con's: 1) Lack of consistency. Clear from reviews that it is hit or miss whether you'll get a talented professional or someone who doesn't care. 2) Lack of response after the move is completed. Put in a request for a claim and it's been months of battling and I keep sending a request for an update but suddenly no one is responding to me. Of the four movers who packed our things, three of them were clueless or careless with our belongings. I opened a box that had some tupperware on top and then our "sharp things kitchen drawer" tossed about in the rest of the box - dozens of knives and sharp kitchen utensils with no wrapping or padding just loose in a box. I opened a box where our outdoor children's scooters were found wedged against our indoor wall decor (broken). They broke our outdoor furniture, damaged our indoor furniture, ruined a lot of wall-art, and improperly packed so many things. We needed to move our belongings into a storage unit temporarily and they moved a fridge/freezer and an upright freezer but did NOT leave the doors cracked for air or properly situated so when we retrieved them from our climate-controlled storage unit, they were *destroyed* due to the intense amount of mold. Anyone in the moving business knows you can't store a fridge that way. They ruined a $4k fridge and a $600 freezer, in addition to a lengthy list of other items. Unpacking everything they packed has been full of shocking surprises. I paid someone to pack because I HATE packing, but at least I know *how* to pack and clearly the people we paid do NOT. The company has no desire to make it right based on the lack of communication after making our claim. Word of advice: If your insurance company tells you they cover your belongings and you don't need to pay a moving company extra for their insurance - don't believe them. USAA failed to inform us that anything damaged by a person paid to pack our belongings, and anything that has mold on it, is not covered under our insurance policy. Insurance covers things like stolen property, the moving truck catching on fire or getting into an accident, and natural disasters destroying your stuff in move - but if a person screws up, insurance does not cover it. Would not recommend this company to anyone EVER. read more

We hired these guys to help us load our house into a POD (Cool Box) storage for a week. They arrived on time, they worked quickly and were very respectful and careful with our items. The crew we had was really good and professional, they didn't take breaks, except for water, not sure how they do it but I recommend this moving company. Spoke to the girl who answered the phone. She really is there to collect a paycheck. She was extremely uneducated so when I asked to speak a manager Ariel I think was her name said she was a manager. She said maybe 1 former fireman still works there but the owners are retired fireman. Gentlemen thank you for your previous service but now it's time to stop disrespecting current fireman and woman and their families by having people so ignorant as managers. I asked her very basic ENGLISH QUESTIONS she couldn't answer any of them. She did not know what Hospice meant? That's totally ridiculous. But she works for Firefighter ‍ Movers. How do you not know, to just say sorry I am unsure of the meaning? It totally pissed me off! She said my grandma was on Hospice and I said: is your Grandmother still alive? "Nah she's dead." Diappointing. I found a sack thrown in the corner of our storage unit. Chris opened it for me and it was full of broken glass and a decorative piece of wood from our bedroom furniture. The glass was from a table top, that I discovered was missing later. As this was the second time we have used Firehouse Movers, I know one of the crews broke the glass and damaged our furniture. I believe it was the last crew but they did not own that they broke the glass or caused the damage. They had so little regard for our belongings. Several times I saw them moving a stack of boxes that unfortunately had a box labeled "Fragile" on the bottom of the stack of boxes that contained books. The even charged us $700.00 more than the estimate. Considering how many times they contacted us to get our business, you would think they would follow-up to check how the service was during the move. Never again! read more

Fire House was not the least expensive bid we got, but the ladies estimating and scheduling the move are the reason we chose them. They were courteous and eager to help. They confirmed and made sure we had all the packing supplies we needed, then called when the crew was running a bit late because it was raining. The crew was quick and steady. They even helped me put items in my van they could not load on the trailer for safety purposes. The cost ended up right in the middle of their estimate range. Firehouse's timeliness was poor. I was the second move of the day, the movers didn't arrive until 4:30pm. Firehouse also wasn't proactive in keeping me informed of the estimated arrival during the day. I had to call them for status updates. Something to consider if you're on a tight timeline on move day. The move itself was just okay. Two of the three movers were good- they handled my things with care and were professional. The third mover seemed to be struggling with simple tasks. He dropped part of a coffee table and dropped a small bookshelf down the stairs, which damaged the piece and left scratches on the floor at the bottom of the stairs. He then offered to pay me cash if I didn't file a claim through Firehouse. Accidents happen, but it was handled it unprofessionally. read more
