Since moving to Texas I've had to use two different moving companies. One company recommended by my ex sister-in-law came with the words "they're AWESOME!!" Unfortunately, that moving company was anything but awesome. Awful was more like it. So, this next time around I asked my neighbor and she recommended Firehouse Movers. All I can say is that this moving company is a well oiled machine. Prompt with callbacks, prompt with keeping me informed of any delays and, probably the most important, first class service and personable, efficient and top notch movers. Even though my move was an inner house move, I was treated like this was the most important move of the day for Firehouse. Steve, Richard and Wes were absolutely THE BEST!!! Firehouse's timeliness was poor. I was the second move of the day, the movers didn't arrive until 4:30pm. Firehouse also wasn't proactive in keeping me informed of the estimated arrival during the day. I had to call them for status updates. Something to consider if you're on a tight timeline on move day. The move itself was just okay. Two of the three movers were good- they handled my things with care and were professional. The third mover seemed to be struggling with simple tasks. He dropped part of a coffee table and dropped a small bookshelf down the stairs, which damaged the piece and left scratches on the floor at the bottom of the stairs. He then offered to pay me cash if I didn't file a claim through Firehouse. Accidents happen, but it was handled it unprofessionally. read more

Crew showed up right on time and reached out before their arrival as well. Team was very diligent while working and communicated on what and how things were loaded the whole time. Entire 2 br/bath apartment was loaded in about 2 hours. The people of this company really take the time to ensure they are packing and moving things to the highest standard. First time utilizing a moving service. Good communication at first but difficult to get the final answer about one or two trucks for my move. Eventually the lady on the phone advised that they would send one truck and do a second trip if needed.....Not impressed at all. It is a 50 Min one way trip, I didn't get a moving company to pay for people to drive around North Texas. That being said I went and got my own 21 ft Uhaul and filled it to the door. Then I unpacked it myself dropped the Uhaul off and met Firehouse movers the next morning. We then stuffed the trailer to the back door and headed to our new home. The saving grace was the three moving men were very polite and quick. I wanted someone to move my stuff and still had to pay extra and load a truck myself due to a bad estimate of my 2200 sq ft house possibly being able to fit in a 1800 sq ft trailer then later the foolish suggestion for two trips. read more

I moved with Firehouse Movers on January 25. I was contacted same day with a quote and booked a move shortly there after as the second move of the day. A spot opened up as the first move of the day and I was called the night before asked if I would like to switch which was very helpful. The morning of the move I was told I would be getting a call when the crew was leaving the warehouse but the estimated time was 7am arrival. I did not get a call but I did get automated text which is fine, but it came at 702 saying they would be there in roughly 45 minutes. I never got a call and the text lead to me believe that instead of aiming to arrive at my location by 7, they were leaving AT 7 from the warehouse. The crew of three that showed up was efficient and protective of my property. Everything was wrapped well and secured well in the truck. They even help me take the legs off my TV since it was a 2 person job. When arriving at the new location the crew accidentally scuffed a few of the walls that required me to acquire touchup paint to fix (purely superficial) but no major damage to any of my property. Everything arrived in the same condition in which it was picked up and things were placed where I asked them to be at the new location. Overall I would recommend Firehouse Movers it took them less time than an estimate and that was reflected in the cost of the move. Only reason for the 4/5 is the damage to the walls and the incorrect information about the arrival time of the crew. read more

First let me say, they did a way better job than I could have done. Once they did finally arrive they were very quick and the price was every reasonable. One of the three movers did not wear a mask at all while my family and I all wore them for their protection. It would have been nice if he showed the same respect. They were not a very friendly bunch, which is fine, just a little better customer service from the movers would have been nice. However, the office staff I spoke to on the phone were all very courteous and gave great customer service. There was quite a few scraps and scratches on my furniture as well as the walls in my home, but like I said, it was better than if I would have tried to do it myself. Did a great job from pick up to drop off. Our final coat was less than the quote which was great. The base to our tv was not box when they picked up our stuff so I think for the reason they forgot to drop off while unloading. A week later after wondering where it went, we called them and they had it. They delivered it the next day no issues or questions. Very pleased with their service! read more

I recently moved and I had too much stuff to feasibly move with just my partner and I. I got quotes from a few different places but ultimately decided to use Firehouse. I was the 2nd move of the day and 3 men arrived with a very large vehicle around 1:30 pm. I had most of my things packed and they literally moved my entire living room filled with maybe 35 or so large boxes in 15 minutes to their truck! The total move took about 3 hours and 15 mins which included disassembling and reassembling all my furniture, installing my washer/dryer, and putting each box into their respective room. I had a lot of incredibly heavy boxes and they moved me from the 2nd floor to the 3rd floor of a different building across the street at no additional charge They were kind and professional throughout the entire process. Highly recommend them and I will use them for all of my future moves! Thank you so much to the kind gentlemen who helped me. Y'all deserve all the calpico in the world Their initial rates may seem higher than others but believe me, they are FAST. They hustle and get things done quick. You will probably save money using them. Also please don't forget to offer your movers drinks or snacks, they work crazy hard trying to be as efficient as possible. EZEKIEL..NARD..JAVIER were the best movers I have ever had..and I am military and have moved alot in my time..I highly recommend them as workers and individuals..they are Christian men and show it! What was a very difficult time for me..they all made it much easier..in fact..in my opinion..they all deserve a raise! Be leery of this company. They make you give them a credit card to place your date on hold and tell you that no cancellation fee applies or fee if you need to move the date. However, they wait until "after the 48 hour" window has passed to confirm your move so that you can't cancel or move your date without a $150 fee. If you know your move date, this is not an issue. For us, we are in the middle of a home renovation and it's taking longer than expected. We simply wanted to push the date out but still use the company. Instead, we've cancelled and I had the threaten disputing the charge to get them to drop it. Very frustrating. read more

We moved from a 3300 sf home to an apartment about one hour away. The crews that moved us were unbelievable. Not only did they work continuously and quickly, they were extremely polite and careful with our belongings and both dwellings. We have moved more times than I can recall and this experience was so far above all of the others that I cannot compare. They are in a league of their own. Unfortunaly, while I'm sure that these movers are very competent, the problem exists with their quoted costs. They quoted ne $3,100 - $3,800 for a 12 mile move while 2 other very reputable companies quoted me $500 - $750 for the same move. A no brainer!!!!! read more

I had a difficult time finding movers, especially because most movers have received only negative reviews on Yelp! After my experience with Firehouse, I made a mental note to myself to write a positive (excellent, I should say!) review on Yelp. I already dreaded packing and moving in general, but the worst part about it was my large furniture and copious amounts of stuff I've accumulated. Needless to say, I packed the majority of my belongings in as many boxes as I could, and prepared all the furniture to the best of my ability. Firehouse Movers gave me a window of 3 hours of when they would arrive, and called me 30 minutes prior to arriving. Once they showed up, they got down to business! I had a crew of 3 men @ an hourly rate of $95, plus a $55 trip charge. Not only were they extremely efficient, but they were CAREFUL too! I had the fear of movers dilly-dallying or not being careful with my belongings, but they proved me wrong. I moved both from and to an apartment around 800 sqft, around 15 miles apart in the Dallas area. The total time took 2.25 hours - and they were complaining about my elevator slowing me down! I was estimating they'd take at least 3-3.5 hours. I can't say enough how much Firehouse Movers was worth my money and my time. Wow! 3 guys and a truck. Arrived on time and got down to business. We walked through the house showing them what needed to be moved and then we just stood back while stuff went flying out of the house. As fast as they were going, they were still super careful with all of our belongings. They had the truck unloaded at our new house within an hour and stayed to assemble anything that had been disassembled and to also help move things in just the right spot. These movers came highly recommended by my realtor. Then it was solidified when I saw the glowing recommendations from my fellow yelpers. But,, as with my luck lately, neither were pertinent to my own personal experience with these guys. My move was scheduled for last Friday. I lived on the second story in an apartment complex. The 2 bedroom apartment I was moving from was a little over 1100 sq ft. There was no additional storage outside or elsewhere. Everything was boxed up (mostly sitting in my living room) prior to their arrival except furniture, which we also disassembled before they got there, in order to save time. The three man crew showed up promptly at 8:45am. The young men look eager and capable to get the job done. Very quickly, I realized, that despite my preparedness, these guys had one gear: super slow. I will not exaggerate here, but since I was being charged $100 per hour I was being very consciencious of the time (I set the timer on my iphone just to make sure). It ended up taking them 3+ hours to load the contents of my apartment into their truck. In addition to that, none of the furniture was wrapped to protect it (like the nice pictures on their website showed) and they ended up breaking one of my pedestals taking it out to the truck. At $100 per hour, you can imagine my frustration level was I realized I was already $300+ in, and we hadn't even left my old apartment!!!! I decided to have a serious conversation with them when we arrived at the desitination. I told them that I did not budget $600+ to move from one apartment to another and that I wasn't going to pay much more. In order to save time I told them that they would need to move all of the large stuff (washer/dryer/bed frames/sofa) up to my new 3rd floor apartment but I would not pay for them to meander through them taking up all the boxes so they would have to be put into the garage downstairs and I would deal with them later. Lo and behold, after this conversation, they started moving at lightning speed. I would have expected this gear throughout the move and was disapointed it took me threatening not to pay them to get it. They moved all the big stuff and left all my boxes and other odds and ends in the garage in less than an hour and a half!!!! I spent the rest of my weekend hauling way more than I had ever dreamed of up 3 flights of stairs all because these guys couldn't do a job efficiently. A bottle of ibuprofen later, 3 weekend days wasted and $500 poorer and I am still very unhappy with the experience. On a good note, climbing all those stairs has my ass looking better than it has in years. Oh, and I'm sorry, but these guys were not volunteer fire departments guys, as stated on thier website. read more

We used Firehouse Movers a couple weeks ago to move from a 2000 sq ft home to a 3000 sq ft 2 story home. These guys were AMAZING! First of all, I think the move was bigger than any of us anticipated. For the whole 9 hours (and who knows how many total flights of stairs) that these guys worked, they were LITERALLY running from the truck to the house to expedite things as quickly as possible. They were very careful with every item they loaded and unloaded and put things exactly where we asked. I've actually been waiting to write this review until I unpacked the china that I had them pack up for me. I had 20 boxes of china (that I didn't trust myself to pack). Not a single item was broken or chipped. Every single piece was meticulously wrapped. (Thank you, Luis, for being so careful.) The only item that got broken in the move was a globe from one of the light fixtures at our old house (and it would have been me accidentally bumping that fixture if it hadn't have been them). These guys followed up with me religiously to resolve the problem. You don't really know what a company is like until there is a problem - Firehouse Movers takes customer service seriously and wants to make sure you are pleased with their service. It's not even normal how quickly these guys can move your stuff. We have used them twice - first to move us out of a three story, twisty, turny, narrow as hell apartment and then again out of a much simpler first floor apartment into our house. Let's talk about the really impressive part, the twisty, turny, seventh circle of hell for movers that we once lived in. Firehouse sent three movers and got us out of there and into the new place in less than three hours, with all of our furniture intact. With both of our moves, the movers were friendly, professional, and fast to the point of questioning whether they had super powers. Even with a third mover, they beat the prices of competitors when it came down to the amount of time actually worked. I've recommended them to friends, and so now I recommend them to you, stranger. I urge you NOT to use this company. They did not log all of my boxes so their tracking system did not work. They lost an entire wardrobe box! They said they had 7 wardrobes checked in and 7 checked out so they could not possibly have done anything wrong. I had EIGHT wardrobe boxes in my possession, not including the one they lost. When I talked to them about the missing box, there was no willingness to try to find what was missing - it was all about how they couldn't have gotten it wrong and I must be mistaken. In addition, the packing job was terrible - fragile items inadequately protected. Several items were broken. And there is no claim for losses if you don't purchase their insurance. I can't discourage you any more strongly from using this company. A really infuriating and very expensive experience. read more

I had a move that ended up being last minute. We weren't sure that closing would work out... so I couldn't schedule anything! Day before closing I call Firehouse movers and luck out with a "on call" spot. 3 man truck, loaded in under and hour, drive, unload = 2.25 hours and the best move ever! They charge by the hour and there wasn't any fooling around. I wasn't very organized, my mind was all over the place and they just moved along... funny guys too, we were having a good time cracking some jokes. We used Fire House Movers Inc for the 2nd time and OMG, they are AWESOME!!! This year we were scheduled for the the first move, we were told they would be here between 7:30-8am. They arrived at 7:15am with 3 guys that were wonderful! We were on a 3rd floor 2bed/2bath apt and moving to a 2nd floor 2bed/2bath apt. These guys bust their butts and had us all moved within 3 hours! And they move everything! There is no inventory list and you don't necessarily need everything in boxes. Last year we moved from a 2nd floor to a 3rd floor and it was a similar experience, 2-3 hours. These guys are out to please and provide excellent customer service. I had a pretty small move -- just about 12 pieces of furniture. Firehouse Movers did a great job. The crew was super friendly and efficient. When they got stuck in traffic on the way to the drop off place they called to let me know. My only complaint was being the second move, you really have no idea what time they are going to show up. Even the day before, they couldn't tell me -- I was told if I didn't hear from them by noon I could give the office a call. Around 2:00 or so I got a call letting me know they would finish up their first job around 4:00. You would think that they would have some idea the day before the size of first move to at least let you know not to expect a call until the afternoon. read more
