Copper Tired after play
Nila S.

I adopted a dog from Okandogs rescue and stopped by for puppy stuff. I was greeted by the door and ask if I would like to join friendship club which was a staff member shop with us to answer any questions and pick up a variety of supplies! We received a discount on a pet bed, toy, and food. We have been only once before for cat collars but have a large selection of all kinds of stuff! I see they do a variety of events for raising money for animals through out the year too.

This place is so cute! Went as a walk in for the self dog wash. Dog wash station was fully equipped, snacks and all! Staff was very friendly and helpful! Will definitely be going back!

Getting ready to clean the pups! First self wash bath!

First time here and with two dogs, easiest experience yet! Staff was super helpful and inviting. I didn't get a chance to look around the store since we went in only for the self service wash, which I absolutely love! They offer an abundant amount of shampoo, conditioner, and sprays specific to your fur baby as well as use of towels, grooming combs/brushes, and dryer for after bath! THE HAVE IT ALL :) my pups smell super clean after their visit here, we will definitely be coming back and not just for the bath!

Buddy loving the self-dog wash!

The best customer service. Will never go anywhere else. My dog loves it there and is always happy to get baths and get treats.

Great place. A little pricey but super knowledgeable and friendly people. They have bath stations and lots of goodies for your pets.

Since our area has a high adoption rate, this facility takes out of state dogs from over crowded shelters. What an incredible program! You can find dogs from California, Texas, all over. The new facility is clean, well setup and bright. The animals are all well cared for and the staff is very friendly. They were honest about any issues they had observed with the dogs & had temperament tested them, I really appreciated that. Coming into the shelter at an older age and with several (treatable) medical conditions, some shelters would have chosen to put the two old gals I recently adopted down, I am forever grateful Skagit did not. They are full of energy (I guess no one told them they are old) & joy. Every day is better with them as my companions. Thank you Skagit Humane Society staff and volunteers for all you do!

I went to the Humane Society of Skagit Valley a few weeks ago hoping to adopt a dog. The front desk…read morestaff was really friendly and helpful -- they took their time and pointed me toward some sweet dogs that seemed like a good match. While I was there, I noticed a little pug and asked about her. They told me she wasn't available for adoption. I could see why -- her butt was prolapsed and there was liquid poop and blood all over her kennel. She was panting, whining, and frantically trying to get out. It was really upsetting to see. I spoke with the manager, who told me not to worry, that they had it under control and the dog was fine. I left feeling terrible. I came back a few days later and the poor pug was still in the same condition -- prolapse, bloody diarrhea, the whole thing. She still looked miserable. I'm really concerned that they don't have the animals' best interest at heart. A prolapsed rectum is painful, and there was clearly blood coming from her. I just don't understand how a person could look at that and think it's okay to leave her like that. This experience has me seriously questioning the level of care the animals are getting. I wanted to support the shelter, but I left feeling heartbroken and worried. I'm still looking to adopt a dog, but after this experience I don't feel confident adopting from here.

My boyfriend and I recently adopted a small dog from here. Elly was a delight to deal with and we're super happy with our new addition. Be prepared to fill out a long application if you want to go through this agency, but it's well worth it. I mean we were more than happy to drive to Yakima and back (from Seattle) for our ne little puppy. The adoption "donation" is super reasonable and the dogs all seem to be happy and well cared for! If you're looking for a new addition to your family, this just might be the place for you.

She has been the most sensitive, smart, cooperative dog I have ever experienced--a joy of a dog. She is apparently--according to DNAmydog--part Australian shepherd, Australian cattle dog, and poodle. But I also believe she has a bit of lab, or St. John's dog, or Newfie in her. I cannot begin to find the words to say how much she was loved. We had to euthanize her yesterday, Sept. 10, 2021. I cannot find the words with which to thank Barks R Us, or at least not the right words, because there are no words to convey my gratitude, not completely. She changed my life--and nothing can ever be quite the same again, now that I've lost her. Thank you for bringing her to me.

I was told that the pup I chose was 1/2 Pit Bull & 1/2 Siberian Husky. They said that the man who…read moredropped off the litter had a female dog who got pregnant while he was at work & so he was dropping off the litter to be adopted. We are doubtful of any Pit Bull in our pup & there is certainly no Siberian Husky. We're pretty sure she's at least part Mastiff. That's a significantly different dog. I get that they were going on what they were told, but based on what our pup & her siblings looked like, I'd think that folks who specialize in dog care (especially the vet who fixed them) would have acknowledged the discrepancies in the breed. We didn't realize until we got her home, took her to our vet, & did some research that we had a dog that will likely be 20-40 pounds larger than we expected. We love her & we're so glad to have her, but I think this place is churning out the animals at such a rate that does an injustice to the dogs & their future owners. Also, while going through the registration process, I witnessed them have to clear up an error with labeling & tracking a kitten in their care. They'd sent one to the vet to be fixed but the vet discovered it had the same name of a kitten that had already been there. For a short while, they didn't know which one was at the vet. Errors happen but they seemed especially boggled by this. I will note, too, that I was impressed when I received a call from them a couple of weeks after our adoption because one of our pup's littermates had contracted Parvo. They wanted to ensure our girl was healthy & to warn us to be on the lookout for symptoms.

They have put a lot of thought into providing the best care for dogs; music in the kennel room, private rooms for dogs that need them, prioritizing special needs dogs getting into foster homes and out of the kennel environment They even go above and beyond by spending time training dogs and puppies in their agility room. Their social media pages follow a few of the same dogs which just shows the dedication the members at Homeward have to maximizing the amount of people to see their adoptable pups. This is the happiest day of my life . I cried so many tears of joy when I was able to adopt my new female dog. I named her Sasha. Previously known as Oldsmobile. Sasha is the absolute sweetest girl ever. Sasha is what my heart needed. As a puppy she is very smart. Introducing to crate has been fairly well. Eating wow this girl can eat, run, do sprints around the house, yard and is super excited. I am too lol. Potty training is going very well in the morning she wakes me up with kisses to say she has to go and stands by door we go out. We have a routine. Totally recommend Homeward Per adoption to everyone. Well, I could continue to give praises all day. Gotta go mommy duty is calling.
