Before picking up our adopted kitty they called us and said she had to be put down. They said there was two kitties we could adopt. We drove an hour to go get the two kitties and when we arrived they had let someone else adopt them. Not a good experience. read more

I adopted a cat that had a cold, I was told that the cat was treated for that cold and she should get better, but she did not! Beware of their sick cats. If they don't get better, then you are on your own! I'm not sure why they would put a sick animal up for adoption, but they do. Lesson learned, Just be careful when picking out any animals from the humane society. read more

The Wenatchee humane society advertised for a dog that we were interested in adopting e we called them to ask for more information on the dog and told them that we have a dog but would like to adopt another there add said that they would prefer that the dog go to a home with no other dogs or pets and they said that when we called them but they also said they thought it would be okay if we had a dog we told them we had the same breed and that they would be a good fit because we had a female and the dog we were trying to adopt was a male. So we told them that we lived 3 1/2 hours away from them and that we wanted to make sure there would be no problem with the adoption we were led to believe that we would be able to adopt the dog so we drove 3 1/2 hours over two mountain passes in the winter time and when we got there, they told us that they were not going to let us adopt the dog because we had a dog. We were shocked. to say the least when we talk to them on the phone and we read the ad, it stated that the dog was ready to go and was looking for an ever home and we talked to them on the phone. They same thing, but because we had a dog, they said that they didn't think it would be a good idea and that the dog doesn't like men either and it isn't safe and could bite you and they didn't even want to let us see it. We insisted after driving so far to be able to see the dog. They finally agreed and showed us the dog in an outside area. We had to stay outside the fence because she stated again, the dog doesn't like men. and it could bite you we said to them if that's the case why are you saying that the dog is ready to be adopted and then say it's a dangerous dog in could bite you you shouldn't be advertising adopt a dog that poses a potential dangerous situation we believe that they just didn't want to let us adopt the dog and we're coming up with excuses to not let us adopt the dog in total. We spent almost 8 hours in travel time over 100 to get there and we're treated rudely and were told different things that didn't add up. I definitely would not recommend dealing with him look elsewhere. read more

I had a wonderful experience adopting my little Mii-Ke (AKA Pear) from the Wenatchee Valley Humane Society. They have a wonderful support system and I can tell that all of the doggies and kitties are treated very wonderfully. When you get to the society, just sign in really quick at the front and go to where the pets are held. There's different areas for small animals, cats, big dogs, and small dogs. If you see a pet that you like, any volunteer will be willing to help you answer questions and let you know where you can take the animal to get to know them better. They have a really nice play area outside with faux grass. Or you could take the pets on a short walk within the premises. The actual adoption process is very quick and painless. Also, the prices for all of the pets are very fair. It really is harder to find prices lower than the ones you'll find here. The adoption price is actually very affordable. When adopting, you'll get all of their paperwork and everything you'll need for the future. They also offer some nice coupons to local pet shops and a free vet visit to a doctor nearby. Also, if you came unprepared to adopt a pet that day (like I did), they offer some very affordable leashes and collars for your future or current pet. The $1 rack is a god-send and the actual designs are not bad either. read more

I called asking about help for my older dog who was in a ton of pain and I wanted to ease his hurting. The woman I spoke to on the phone told me WITHOUT ASKING what was wrong with my dog. Said that putting a dog for having an accident on the bed wasn't a reason. BUT that wasn't the case. He could hardly walk any more, his back legs were failing him and he wasn't eating anymore and when he tried to get to his water he had trouble getting to it so each day I was setting his food and water with him. He was my loyal companion since I was a kiddo in 7th grade. But as I asked to bring him in yesterday to help him, she told me to wait till Monday a "better week day" to bring him in that weekends were too busy. He passed away today. Please ASK a persons situation of there animal before assuming I'm just trying to get rid of him. I loved my dog very much. And now he's gone. read more

they have the cutest stinking dogs here! I went to an adoption event they were having in Puyallup, many rescues were there including two that I already had adopted dogs from. We wandered over to the booth with the Wenatchee Valley Humane Society dogs. All of their dogs were super adorable and well behaved I wanted to take them all home because their dogs are so stinkin cute. We ended up picking an adorable terrier mix and named him Chancellor the adoption process was very simple and did not take a ton of time and energy making it easy for us to adopt him and give him a loving wonderful home. Also their prices are great! The adoption fee was only $150 which is quite a bit lower then other rescues. I was so happy with our new pup that I now follow their facebook and continue to support them in any way that I can. If you're in the area or even somewhat close the drive is well worth it! read more

We used to volunteer here in 2018 with the cats and small rodents. We also adopted two adult male cats within the same year. We loved our experience as both volunteers and as adopters. First of all, the volunteer system in the cat room is very organized. Also, the cat rooms are up-to-date, very clean, and the cats are all healthy and at a good weight, or, if they are sick, overweight, or injured, they are on a treatment plan. The people that work and volunteer here are very caring and hard working. In our new city, we have been to multiple humane societies to volunteer and they do not compare to WVHS. My two criticisms are that when adopting my two boys, which were on two separate weeks, the person did not look at my applications at all. This makes me worried that any person with the money could adopt any cat, whether or not they are a good match. Also, the small rodents/rabbits/bird room was quite sad and needs improvement. There was one bunny in a cage that did not have any covering for multiple weeks and was scared to death all the time. I only spent time with the cats and small animals, and cannot speak to how the dogs are treated, cleanliness of cages, etc. I love my boys that we adopted here... Diego and Caesar (now named Arnold). They have developed quite a bond and are fabulous companions. read more

I absolutely love this place. We got our dog Skip from here back on September 4th, 2009. He's 9 years old now and just such a happy dog. Unfortunately earlier this year he was diagnosed with retina deterioration. He's going blind due to a genetic disorder. But he's still really healthy and a happy boy. I don't know if any of the same people still work here, but I thought I would give an update after so many years have past. He was very loved by the staff and the lady that sold him to us was sad to see him go. He has done lots of travels while my husband was in the military. We lived in Germany, visited Italy, and Austria, Colorado, Texas And now we're back home in Washington after 7 years. I would definitely recommend this place. They gave me my best friend. read more

As the result of selling my house and moving, I was forced to take my three beloved cats; Sahib, Beate and Stella to the Humane Society - knowing no one else who would take them in for me. These cats have been my constant loving companions for years now and it was heartbreaking for me. Still in the middle of packing for a 30th of March move, I made an appointment to take them in on the 28th of March 2018. I called and left a message that morning confirming my appointment with no reply. My appointment had gone unregistered but they nevertheless did the intake when I brought them in. My criticisms, there was nowhere in the building that I could be alone with my cats altogether one last time and I was only able to take Sahib out of my carrier to hug him one last time. He wouldn't go back into the carrier after that and someone came out with a separate carrier to take him. I have been helluva busy packing for a month and I would have appreciated one last moment with all of them together. I filled out extensive questionnaires about each cat and wrote about their particular quirks and personalities, etc., the best home situations I suggested for each cat based on what I knew of their personalities. Beate, I felt, e.g., would best be suited to a home situation where she would be the only cat. When a few days later I saw pictures of two of them; Sahib, a grey adult male, and Beate, a female colour or flame point type cat, white with orange markings, listed on WVHS webpage, I was astonished at the mistakes on the page. The question of whether the cats were housebroken was listed as "unkown" when these cats have lived exclusively in the house with me all the time I owned them. Just how they got an "unknown" status for being housebroken when it was clearly stated on the form for each cat that ALL THREE share the same litter box beggars belief. Also, only one of the three, Beate, was not declawed the other two; Sahib and the calico Stella had both been declawed. Sahib was listed erroneously as being clawed. Lastly, the picture that they posted of Beate was absolutely hideous. It looked like she was sitting on some medical table and had probably just taken a shot or something and she had a confused, scared, with mouth agape, look on her face. It made me absolutely sick and distressed to look at it. It was utterly offensive. Beate, like the Siamese stock she is related to, was a very vocal cat and very loving and would lay for me and roll on the floor so I could pet and rub her and, like the other two cats, there wasn't a bit of the nasty or temperamental in her. They all slept together on my bed with me at night. Stella behind my knees, Beate often on a large pillow at the foot of the bed and Sahib either curled up against my head or along my chest under the blankets. I finally had the opportunity today (4-2-18) to go to the shelter and attempt to visit the cats and found that they had all apparently been adopted out. I hope and pray to people who will love them and appreciate them for all they gave me as much as I did. When I first made the appointment over the phone, I was informed of a $20 voluntary donation, I assumed for each cat. No one brought this up or asked for it from me when I brought the cats in on the 28th and it slipped my mind as well. So part of my excursion to the WVHS today was not only to hopefully sneak one last glance and final caress of my three greatest loves but to fulfill that donation for each cat. The former, alas and alack, didn't happen but all to the better if they've found new homes, but the latter did. read more

Ruby and Kris Kringle stayed at Camp Pet while I attended a board retreat in town. (I've found it's just easier to board them wherever I'm going than at home). They were in good spirits when I picked them up and slept the four and a half hours it took to get them home. Safe, cleanest, and happy place! We just lost our border collie that we adopted from the humane society 10 years ago. And I have to say if it hadn't been for them we wouldn't have had such a wonderful dog! He was such a blessing to us after we lost our first dog from old age, Clover (the one we adopted from the humane society) came into our lives and was like a little reincarnation of the dog we had just lost. Animal KILLERS NOT A NO KILL SHELTER I rescued an absolutely magnificent loving sweet cat that was lost and had injuries consistent with being shot. I cleaned his wounds, he was very healthy just abscessed hip. I signed papers and asked them to call me and not euthanize if it came up.....I had very clear verbal communication with the WVHS Officer. He said the cat was very adoptable. I felt good about doing right by this cat. I called today and was informed the cat was euthanized deemed not worth saving. Those are the words they used. This is the second cat shot near my home and they balked about even documenting the shootings so the cats did not die in vain. I am the voice of a magnificent animal that the very people we entrust to help these animals slaughtered deeming him not worth saving. I have vetted hundreds of rescue cats and this animal was not that hurt, he had all but recovered from being shot. It was senseless killing and a trust violation by failing to adhere to the DO NOT EUTHANIZE I signed. read more
