Gave this place a 2nd look after one mediocre visit and got a dish that said pierogies and sausages. This dish, is what a teen puts together when they're home alone for the first time and all mom and dad left were frozen pierogies, hot dogs and a jar of sauerkraut (or was it onions, not sure). Toss on some pickled banana peppers and you have this culinary embarrassment. We were hungry so we ate it but i'm mad at myself for paying for that travesty. read more

The food was ok. The servers were polite however the bill came to the table and it had a credit card charge on it. I paid with cash and still had the credit card attached to my bill. When I mentioned this as well as the fact that I only received change for the amount of the check and not the fact that I told the server that I needed a bill changed so that I could leave a tip, I did not redo e the smaller bills nor did I get the bill back that was supposed to be broken down. Watch your wallet if you go here. The staff is their own bank is what I was told. Perhaps they should rethink this or maybe it is their way of getting more money. I didn't pay with a card so why should I pay the credit card fee. Do better!! read more

The superb pork chop was excellent and is to die for. I highly recommend it since it was absolutely fabulous and perfectly prepared - so tender you could have cut it with a fork. Made an impromptu stop today. Got off 79 and beelined right there after my daughter saw a picture of the pulled pork mac and cheese! Let's say the detour was worth it! From the outside this place looks awesome. As you step in it has a cool atmosphere. We ordered a 3 pack appetizer and garbage fries. I will say the hot wings were awesome, the fried pickles had way too much batter. The pickles were a great choice but the batter hindered them. Last on that 3 pack we had the pretzels, they were perfect. So definitely order the pretzels and wings... Now the garbage fries, a must!!! Best fries I had in a long time and the trash they throw on top made them fantastic. Lastly we order a bbq pork sandwich which was my most least favorite. They had pickles on it so that was my highlight. Lastly, the place was not so clean. Under our table the dust was about an inch thick, the crayon looks like it was there since the building was a firehouse. Really, it turned my stomach. It made every bite after not so good. So what I'm saying the pork sandwich might be good I wasn't eating anymore. Also, we had a waiter, dude had piercings, he was awesome. I recommend to sit at his tables. I watched the waitress and she was rude, very short, maybe a bad day but she killed the atmosphere. Give the place a try but watch the cleanliness and rudeness. read more

Fantastic place in downtown Meadville. The food is delicious. Really big portions and a nice variety. My wife got Pulled Pork Mac & Cheese. Super creamy with a little kick from black pepper and the BBQ sauce was smoky and sweet. I got the Fish & Chips and it was huge. The fish was cooked perfectly and the batter was crispy but not too crunchy. The fries were fantastic. Wow. One of the worst experiences I have had in a restaurant. Service was terrible. 3 out of 4 meals came to table wrong. Never got the one meal after waiting 30 minutes and everyone else was finished. They said they would take it off bill but only took the regular burger off and not what we ordered. Manager sent the same bill over to us twice without correcting a thing. I did get 10% off the one meal wow $2.70. Not bad for over $120 check. read more

First time venturing in here. Have to say the portions are great! Hubby and I had an appetizer that we brought half of home. I ordered the pulled pork mac and cheese. I opted for the Memphis style sauce, and it was worth every bite. Just a little kick, which was right up my alley. That was another box of leftovers! Let me say it was just as good the next day. The mac and cheese was so creamy, and there are no words for the barbecue. They are doing it right. There was no wait as it was a Wed. night, the staff was friendly. Decent atmosphere. Food was good but my buddy and I ordered the same burger, something about fire chief pounder, which was supposed to have accelerant sauce. Either neither of them did have it or it was not hot at all. I looked for the sauce on the burger and I could not find where it may have been put. The side of fries was rather minimal (based on cost of the meal). Sevice was okay but not being regulars it really slowed it down a bit. I would not go out of my way, again, to eat here. read more

I love coming to this place when we are in town from Virginia, and today was no exception! We brought my grandfather in, who had never been in before. He said, "that was one of the best meals of my life!" (Baseball steak and some of my ribs, the beans and mussels). I was super impressed that I was given a separate container for my beans to take home, so that they wouldn't make a mess in the container of bbq chicken leftover. I would give this place 3.5 stars... The extra half is for the owner, who was present, obviously cared a lot about the business, and made it a point to walk around and talk to guests. In Meadville PA, there actually aren't a lot of stellar options when it comes to restaurants and bars, and my group ended up there because a lot of other places were closed. We were all in town for work, and being a Sunday, there was football to be watched! I have to say that there could be so much potential in this place... I liked the firehouse history/theme, but everything looked a little dated overall, and the layout was a little funny. The bar area and dining tables are very divided, with only one TV that I could spot if you were to be sitting at a table. We opted for the bar area, and TV's were plentiful there. The food was hit or miss. The cheese sticks, I warn you, can easily be shared as an appetizer between three people! They are more like giant cheese logs. I did enjoy those, but they didn't come out with enough dipping sauce, and our server forgot to bring more when we asked for it. The cheap booze and beer kept us happy though; none of my beers were over $4! Overall, if you find yourself in Meadville and you're looking for a decent place for cheap beers and food, I would stop here. read more

We had a terrible experience Here. We waited an hour after ordering our food and then we where told that they were sold out of the brisket. They hadn't even started our order. We complained to the manager because our waitress was unhelpful and the manager said she would not charge us. After another 20 minutes the manager brought out the check and said she would give us 20% off. We still never got our food!!! We were one of the first tables and tables that came after us got there food and left. Terrible management, service, and I have no idea how the food is because we never got any. Service was friendly, that's the only good part. The waitress didn't know the menu or specials at all, and was confused when I asked for clarification on what the daily special was made with. Food took longer than average to come out. Cheese stick appetizer came out just thrown on a tray, dripping in grease. I had to ask for some marinara sauce, and got a tiny cup of it straight out of the freezer, with chunks of ice in it. Our lunch sandwiches came out, and the beef sandwich actually tasted rancid. It was cold and slimey and had an odd odor. 1 bite and spit it out. The pork sandwich was ok, but the baked beans side was ice cold, and the coleslaw was just cabbage and runny mayo. Food taste was very poor, quality of the food was poor, and presentation was poor, and for $40 for lunch I had much higher expectations. I won't ever be back and won't recommend this place to any friends or family. read more

We chose Meadville as a meeting spot with two family members who also live about an hour away. Since we've met at other restaurants, we gave The Firehouse Grill a try. The table was comfortable and we appreciated that food was served on beautiful white plates instead of paper in a basket-as you see so often today. The appetizer-pulled pork nachos-were delicious. It was a huge portion that all four of us enjoyed. Two of us ordered the Roast Beef on Kimmelweck with Fries. Buffalo is our hometown so we should refrain from ordering this elsewhere as it will never measure up! The beef was ok but the fries were unappetizing and tasted awful. Three of us ordered fries and none of us would eat them after trying them. One person ordered ribs and they looked and tasted wonderful. The bill was rather steep-no alcohol ordered. We had a nice visit and the service was good. We did tell the waitress about the fries. Hopefully she reported that to the kitchen and management is interested in feedback as three people mot eating the same item raises a red flag. The restaurant was moderately busy and probably is a favorite of locals. However, we won't return. read more

This place was good when they turned into Firehouse but have slowly turned bad. Slow service, increased prices, smaller portions and rude staff. We just walked out because the waitress and cook were outside smoking marijuana and whe she came to our table reeked of marijuana. We told the manager and she didnt understand why we had a problem with that. We wont be returning unless they can clean up again and get rid of the trash. read more

Disappointment across the board - Bloody Mary was nearly undrinkable. Honestly wonder if anyone has ever tasted it before serving - pickle juice and ice do not a Bloody Mary make. Steamed mussels were cooked twice as long as they needed to be; wings were sent with the wrong sauce, and the BBQ they did come with was 90% honey and 10% pepper flakes; kid's chicken fingers were tv - dinner caliber. Even the bottled beer was luke warm. The place has potential galore, as downtown Meadville sorely needs more dining options, but there's a lot of work to do to get this place to be acceptable, much less a contender. read more
