Do not hire for anything other than the most basic work if that- A Nightmare Experience with Albert Ruiz Working with Albert Ruiz has been the single worst contracting experience of my life. His incompetence, dishonesty, and unprofessional behavior caused months of delays, financial stress, and legal headaches. Albert Ruiz cannot read standard construction prints--a basic skill for anyone in his position. He was given complete, accurate plans before the job began, he even submitted them to the city to pull the permit then proceeded to fail inspection five separate times. Each failure delayed the project and cost me time and money. Despite having the plans in hand, Albert begged for more money, claiming he needed additional materials that were clearly outlined in the documents he submitted himself. He then harassed me for payment and ultimately abandoned the job unfinished. One of the most egregious acts was his handling of the retaining wall. The plans required a keyhole in the footing--a structural necessity. Albert dug it out just to pass inspection, then filled it back in with dirt to save on concrete costs. This is not only deceptive but potentially dangerous. After walking off the job, Albert had the audacity to place a lien on my property and attempt to sue me in small claims court. The judge ruled in my favor, confirming that I owed him nothing. Yet even after the ruling, Albert refused to remove the lien, forcing me to hire an attorney and send a formal demand letter to have it lifted. Albert Ruiz behaves like an overgrown child, not a professional. It is clear he is employed solely due to personal relationships, not merit. Do not do business with this company as long as he is involved. Everything stated here is 100% accurate. I have videos, documents, texts, receipts, and official correspondence from the city and county to support every claim and I am willing to share. read more

We put off our backyard for too long. It was just dirt and unusable. There was another well know Contractor company in the AV that we looked at (starts with a J and ends with an R). But after meeting with Eric and his Project Manager Ricky, they knew EXACTLY what we wanted. They even came up with suggestions to keep it simple and to keep unnecessary cost down. They never once up-sold on anything. That is very rare in this current environment. They're work is impeccable, quality minded, and definitely Customer focused. Albert was the second contractor of 3 that came out to our property to give us a quote. All I can say here is, Albert offered the most competitive labor-cost vs the other 2 companies. We're talking tens of thousands here. Not only were they affordable, but extremely quick in executing. When he told me the job would be done in 2 weeks, I genuinely took it as a joke. But, they did it in less. I was baffled, especially with the quality of work which exceeded our expectations. We asked for an extended drive-way, large amount of cement, dog-fence/ liter area, stacked brick wall, and dirt removal. VERY DISAPPOINTED. While Eric was nice to work with, aside from the turf installation the work his crew did was very disappointing. Without asking, they trimmed a bush into a tree and now we have no privacy in our bedroom. They placed DG all the way up to the root ball of a vine over our pergola and now it's dead. They made the drip lines so short that we can't move any of the pots. We had to redo all of the potted plants because they didn't give nearly enough soil. I told them more soil was needed due to settling, but they insisted I was wrong. They also tried to double-charge us for soil but relented once we called Eric about it. The DG they put down was so poorly done that we had to have them redo it a couple of times and then we finally gave up. They left extra DG, rocks and dirt in our yard that we didn't want and are still dealing with the clean up. They also left dozens of turf nails on the turf, which we had to gather so our dogs wouldn't eat them. We spent a lot of money with this company and are definitely disappointed. read more

Having a dirt backyard got old real fast- I needed to get this backyard done ASAP. Albert and the project manager Jason really understood what i wanted! I'm wanted something basically little to no maintenance (given I am not a green thumb gal & I'm not home as often) I wanted a rockscape feel and artificial grass. Even throughout the project he would throw in ideas that really brought the backyard together. Especially considering my little pup I have- Albert wanted to make sure he would enjoy the backyard. And then his worker came out another day and measured and said it was actually only 800 sq ft, so he told me Albert was originally charging me $2.50 per ft, so the new price would be $2,000.
