My family and I recently bought a new house and was thinking of doing some concrete and turf work…read more Since the new house had a lot of fixing, this project became lower on the list of to do's. However, my new HOA did not agree with that and we received some brown grass fixing notices. It quickly moved up to number one to do. I found a few places on Yelp and got quotes. All the turf people didn't do concrete and all the concrete people didn't want to do turf. It was weird. The last estimate was Joe and Hugo and I was blown away. Joe set it up so I'd be able to meet the partner in the business that takes care of the concrete and he, the guy in charge of the turf. All in one short. I greatly appreciated him putting this together so quickly. They both arrived on time and provided straight forward and very reasonable pricing. They were both professional and knowledgeable. Since we had to run the plans with HOA, Hugo had to provide a drawing of the plans and submit for approval. This process took a couple of weeks and then our date was set for project start. The demo crew arrived bright and early. They encountered an unpleasant surprise when they found a whole bunch of roots on the front lawn. The crew hacked all they could but it wasn't enough. I spoke to joe and he gave the option to either add a change in work order/more money to hack some more or hire a pro tree root removal guy. After I spoke to some tree guys, no one wanted to touch the roots. We ended up DIYing it ourselves and got them removed in time for the turf project to continue. Joe gave me time to ensure the slope and everything was to my liking before they came Back to continue the work. The concrete molds were made. Joe and Hugo were very patient with us changing the plans a couple of times and still kept a friendly and professional attitude. Each time we had any concerns, we spoke to Joe and it was quickly addressed. We also had a couple concerns from our neighbors which were addressed promptly. Please don't let the ups and downs of my experience deter you from going with green forever. I want to assure you that Joe and Hugo and willing to go the distance to make sure everything works out the way their clients wish. Israel & his crew also did landscaping work in our backyard, grading our property, eliminating tumble weeds, etc., & putting in rocks to eliminate dust & allergens from weeds down in a back drive- way & trailer parking area, & he also installed artificial sport turf, which looks beautiful, & is great for our grandchildren & our dog to safely play on. The turf holds up well, easy to keep clean & to maintain. Israel & his crew also designed & created in our front yard, along with other landscaping needs & planing beautiful plants & trees, as I've mentioned above, a beautiful rock riverbed stream along our front side yard where we have three mature trees along the fence line. This rock riverbed stream Israel inserted runs dry in good weather, but runs with rainfall water during rain storms, & looks beautiful wet or dry, & prevents property flooding during heavy rain storms, by guiding the rain water out to the street to city flood drains. I tried to work with him on two different projects and both times even with pictures he attempts to do what he wanted and had to be stopped. To top it off he gets an attitude and shows frustration towards his client if you don't want to accept what he wants to do. I couldn't believe the way he handled me as if I was the issue when I'm sending pictures and showing my exact request and expectations, and he is giving me quotes on my request, yet and still he then comes with his own plans in mind. I requested my deposit back. & Thank God I did! I found out he was double charging me. The same Palm trees he was charging me $845 each for, I found for $350 each! Look at how much I saved on 7 Palm Trees ($3,465)! I'm able to purchase 7 more not going through him! Oh and get this... he told me the price of the trees went up because he quoted me 90 days before I decided to move forward. Be careful people or ladies at least. Not sure if he would even try this behavior with a man. He starts out as a nice and reasonable person and then everything slowly begins to change with his professionalism and attitude towards customer satisfaction and the work to be done, If you don't allow him to do what he wants. I will say the first job I hired him for, he did do a lot of concrete for me and I thought it was a decent job until it started cracking in less than 6 months. He said he would fix it when he did the other project that I didn't end up allowing him to do because he had his own agenda. Now, I'm stuck with a brand new cracked concrete. I also noticed how my concrete had dips in it and he started explaining it was done like that for the rain to flow in direction of my drain, but the water drains in the opposite direction of my drain. Just a headache overall. Oh yea, and I requested rebar in my concrete and he did not do it. By the time I noticed it was too late. He just was saying it's not necessary and would be more expensive. If I ask for something, he shouldn't be determining my finances for me. I can decide if I want or not, but quote me on what I'm asking for. I just feel like I was ripped off completely especially after realizing the way he was over-charging on the Palm Trees. I wonder how much cheaper I could have got my concrete done. During that job, he came to say the cost went up on supplies as well. I personally do not recommend Contemporary Landscape and Maintenance based off my own experience. So at your own risk...

This was a headache from beginning to end. When we put down our deposit Rafael told us it would…read morebe up to 6 weeks before he could start the job because they were so booked. It was 3 months. In the meantime, he was constantly trying to talk us out of what we wanted, and when he finally did the work he went ahead and did what he wanted, whether we had agreed to it or not. The only thing we actually got as we wanted was the color of the rocks. The job they did was rushed and shoddy. The weed barrier doesn't block weeds, but it does block the water from hitting the soil around our plants so that our concrete walkway is being watered instead. Our plants are dead or dying, several of them are plants we specifically told him we do not want in the first place, and there is a leak which we have called them out twice to fix but has not been corrected. Additionally, they actually did less work than we paid them for, but he somehow feels justified in asking us for even more money on top of that. I won't work with this company again and I wouldn't recommend  them to anyone. Update: They did refund the money we overpaid.
