The ambiance is lovely, service outstanding, but honestly $50 for a corkage fee is an insult to any and all patrons. The idea of the dining stations is fun, but not one item of food was interesting or memorable. I have been coming to this restaurant for many years as a local. We would recommend to friends staying in the area, but unless KSL decides to add quality instead of quantity, we will not be joining you again, nor will we encourage our out of town friends to make a reservation. A friend brought me to this place. He is a local was born in park city. I must say he knew what he was talking about and it was a wonderful experience. It is reservation only so make sure you plan in advance. This place has an interesting concept. Everything is cooked by a fireplace. The decor is great and kind of looks like a nice formal lodge or even something out of Harry potter. It features dishes from the European Alps. It is buffet style as you get up from the table and go to the fireplaces to pick up your food. The first course is dripping melted cheese that you put on top of potatoes, small onions or other appetizer foods. It really is delicious and was probably my favorite course. Admittedly, I love cheese and put it on the meats as well. Other courses included soups, salads, and lamb hung fireside to cook. It was all excellent! There was also Horse-drawn sleigh rides outside which was a unique experience and great for kids. It's cold but they have blankets. read more

The experience does not justify the cost. Our server and the drinks was fantastic however everything else was not. Anyone that plans on making a reservation I urge you not to and to go somewhere else. It is a 4 course "buffet" situation and it was explained to in a fancy way however the first course which was "imported" Swiss cheese was cold and hard and pre put on the plate. The second course was soup/salad and that was probably the most okay meal and the only thing I personally ate. I didn't even try the third course which was the "meat" station bc my husband did and it wouldn't even be something I feed our dog. and a lot of people around us agreed. The dessert station was the 4th station and that was nothing special either just some chocolate chip cookies and brownies. We asked to see the manager and she really didn't seem like she cared, however our waiter was great and they comped 15% but it was still a VERY overpriced meal for what we got. Definitely a rip off. A truly lovely experience eating by the hearths surrounded by powder white snow. Fireside Dining is a self-serve dining experience in which you walk from hearth to hearth and enjoy different food options, some of them cooked by the fireside. The raclette cheese, cooked by melting giant cheese wheels by the hearth is the star of the show, you will be enamored by its velvety flavor and how well it works alongside the beer infused mustard and strawberry compote. The soups, salads, fish, and meat options were quite sumptuous too- it was a bit hard to save room for dessert, but the flambé station and fondue are a must-try. I highly recommend this as a special experience with friends and family, it is something we all find memorable still. read more

While it pains me to give a restaurant a one star review during dining, I would have offered this restaurant zero stars if it was possible. During my dinner, a very intoxicated diner at a nearby table repeatedly insulted and behaved in a disrespectful and demeaning manner to a Black waiter. He also shouted repeatedly, stumbled around the restaurant without a mask repeatedly, and yelled at other diners. Nonetheless, after his friends asked him to "take a quick nap," the restaurant let him return to his table. He immediately started shouting and reaching for wine glasses. Racism should never be condoned or forgiven. And disobeying a state-wise mask mandate is illegal. Fireside Dining should be shut down. I hope the Park City government does that. Until then, don't go here. read more

We were very lucky to get a reservation at this restaurant. Both the meal and the ambiance were FABULOUS. Each fireplace is a host to a different course. Save room for the lamb. I was impressed by the head chef who took my dairy-free husband around to each station and told him what he could eat and what to avoid. That was excellent service and well-appreciated. Was glancing through the food magazine and came across this place. Looked very impressive. Did further research online to check the menu out and it also seemed decent. Hoped in a car and drive up the hill which was very impressive especially since the Montage was right next door! Walked inside to where the front door staff was amazing and super polite, courteous! We waited about 30 minutes past our reservation to where I had to ask what was going on as several tables were getting seated before us. Maybe it was because I wasn't wearing Ugg's or my name wasn't Kingsley Davenport III or Duke Berkeley Covington II After much anticipation we went to the melted cheese station which was a slab of melted cheese that was semi cold followed by a cheese and meat station that was severely sub par. The cheese selection was poor and so was he meat section. After that we went around to the other 3 stations that included a carving section with two choices of lamb and beef, a stew section that and salad section which was more or less drowned in dressing and pre made. Finally the desert section was last to where was was hoping it would save the day.....and that would be a negative. The chocolate, maple and what ever other dips were certainly watered down and the choices of things to dip was underwhelming. You figure for a such a great location and concept, staff that were amazing over all that the food would back things up. I am sure some people will get upset reading this review and all I can say my bad......but not really PS I just asked my 10 year old son what he thought of the place and he stated that he can't remember the last time he farted that much after dinner before he fell asleep. Pros - friendly and attentive staff, very unique atmosphere, lots of food options, sled ride with the Belgians Anne and Belle, and cabin in the mountains feel was awesome. Cons - the meats were pretty good, but nothing that I would describe as "amazing". Overall, I rated 5 stars bc this is actually a 5 star experience. 2 adults with 2 glasses of wine each and a sled ride will run about 375 but totally worth it. Advice - if you do the sled ride, you can book it with your waiter and it's 40 bucks for up to 6 people. After the ride, you can come back and finish up your meal. Bring cash to tip for the sled ride. They can put the sled ride on the food bill but not the tip. read more

This was one of my favorite dinners when in the PC area for a ski vacation. Absolutely loved the entire dining experience and hadn't experienced something like this before. We had a table for 2 on a Saturday night with an 8:45 res and were seated promptly. Out table was right near the raclette fire which was so fun to watch it drip on the plates...I'm not kidding! We ordered a bottle of Nebbiolo before we made our way to the food stations. We went to the raclette station first for our melty oozy cheese and then added an assortment of meats, pickled veggies/onions and jams/spreads with crostini to our dishes. This was absolutely awesome and probably my favorite station. We then took a little break before going to the second appetizer station. We had Swiss onion soup, which was my first time trying it and boy was it tasty. Similar to French onion but not as cheesy on top and the broth was lighter. There were also cheese curds in it. After the soup, we went back to the same station and split a beef medallion and a crispy potato. Both were super delicious. The meat was so tender and the potato was lovely. We took another break before moving on to the entree. We both chose the lamb with a small scoop of Mac and cheese and a quinoa medley. We went back to station 2 to add some shaved Brussels sprout salad to our dishes. Everything here was fantastic as well. The lamb was also very tender like the beef. Lastly, the dessert station was stop number 4. We split a plate of a few strawberries, banana coins, and cookies with the chocolate and caramel sauce. Again so delicious! Also ordered an espresso with dessert. Love the concept of fireside dining. It's an absolute must-go-to spot when in PC or deer valley. It is super reasonable for all of the food as well ($70/adult). Very fun experience! As of Dec. 2021 they're back to diners wandering to the different fireplaces (with masks on). Come hungry, take your time, and try a bit of everything. Don't skimp on the salads, the sides on the 2nd course were excellent, in addition to all of the great stuff at the fireplaces. The only negative was the 3x-4x markup on bottles of wine....I'm fine with a markup, but 3x+ was excessive. It looked like another table had done BYO?...I'd investigate that and corkage fees before going back, but I'd totally go back! read more

I just came back from a ski trip over Sundance opening weekend and this was one of the only fine dining restaurants that I was able to get a reservation. IT WAS AMAZING! My boyfriend, being from France and wanted some, as he would call it "Alps ski food" this place did not disappoint. It is a 4 course meal that started with raclette cheese that you pair with cold cuts, spreads, smoked fish, potatoes, cornichons, etc. From there, we moved onto the salad bar and soups. Next the heartier dishes of lamb steaks (to die for), venison stew, potato gratin and fish. No...you're not done, only halfway there! Now the carving station of steak and roasted lamb leg. (The lamb is roasting by the one of the fireplaces as you walk by) lastly desserts of fondue (caramel, chocolate, and white chocolate) and a flambe! It was just like a trip to the alps all in a cozy, quaint, fireplace setting in Deer Valley. It is a must! The service was great, and the concept was really fun. Honestly, I was quite disappointed in the food. I would expect better from Deer Valley. Some of the dishes were reasonably well done, but nothing was exceptional. After every course, we kept asking each other what our favorite dish was so far. And really, nothing stood out. Also, it was extremely meat heavy. I would like to see at least one or two more vegetable dishes. The Utah Trout was our favorite. The dessert our least favorite. read more

Guess I'd call it a glorified buffet, but the concept is somewhat novel: each crackling fireplace in the dining room has a specific dish (or dishes) that is being offered (more or less self-serve). There is a lot of food offered out in the open (without any sneeze guards), which made me a bit uneasy... it's cold and flu season after all. The food itself was all fairly tasty, though not super refined (stews, roasted lamb, charcuterie). For large groups and/or if you've got kids I think it's a decent spot (it's super casual). Service was actually standout, we had a great server and our plates were picked up the second we were done. Parking is free in a dedicated and clearly indicated lot, but there wasn't much space. I had to park in what I'd call an "unofficial" space and fortunately my car was still there when I got back. read more

The Fireside Dining experience is truly a one of a kind! The restaurant is in the Empire Lodge at Deer Valley and although part of the Deer Valley resort, many (I included) come from outside the resort to dine here. The unique layout features four fireside prix fix food stations, all with some of the food heated by the fire and a separate stand for cold sides and accompanying food. Since it is a serve yourself buffet style eatery, they have a service bar in the main room in which you can go up and order drinks individually. The first course (I say this tentatively since it is a free-willed buffet and I was tempted to jump straight for dessert) consisted of raclette swiss cheese with a station for breads, cured meats, three homemade whole grain mustards and a wonderful homemade strawberry tarragon preserve. The cheese is slowly melted fireside and you can sit back and watch it melt onto your plate before they serve it to you - YUM! If I began all my meals like this I would be a few pounds heavier but a whole lot happier! The next (tentative) course consisted of tender braised beef short ribs, Almond-flour dusted Utah trout, veal stew, and a variety of vegetable soups. The short ribs were pull-apart tender and rich. I opted out of the other two options in fear I wouldn't save room for dessert but the side salad and soups were delicious as well! The third course was a fire roasted leg of lamb. Literally roasting right there on the fire for all to see. I had this with a side of chestnut parmesan brussel sprouts. Although a little rare for my liking, nothing to complain about from this course and everyone seemed to enjoy it. To be honest, I was getting pretty stuffed but still had my eye on the prize - dessert. Ah, the long awaited trio of carmel, dark chocolate and white chocolate fondu along with gooey chocolate baked pudding. I really can't say much about this that you aren't already imagining but I'll tell you this - I literally licked the plate. Overall, Fireside Dining is such a unique Swiss/French take on buffet fireside food and I highly recommend it if you are in Park City and looking for a special dining experience. And for the quality and unlimited quantity of food, I really think the price is a steal (roughly 60$). Be sure to try it out, but make sure to make a reservation in the busy ski season! read more

If you're in Park City and want to experience a truly unique gourmet meal, visit Fireside Dining! It's located at the Empire Canyon Lodge in Deer Valley. Dinner is only offered Wednesday through Friday, from 6 - 9pm. The 4 courses are served from stone fireplaces, buffet style. You start off with my favorite, the Swiss raclette. It's a plate of warm, gooey cheese. With your plate, you proceed to a table with a wide array of accompaniments for your cheese, ranging from hearty potatoes to cured meats and sliced baguette. Our server recommended the house-made mustards and chutneys, which were simply delicious. Next up are the stews and veggies. There were 3 to choose from the Friday evening we were there, with the Coq au Vin being my favorite. The chicken was so tender and moist. Third on the menu is the rack of lamb served with sides of polenta or risotto. I'm not a fan of lamb because of the gamey taste, so I went back for seconds of the Coq au Vin and beets. Being a lover of beets, theirs was especially tasty...a bit on the harder side. Of course, the meal must end with dessert fondue. They offer up ramekins of melted chocolate, caramel and white chocolate. There's a fine selection of dipping goodness, from the traditional strawberries and apple slices to the pound cake and biscotti. I thought the highlight was their special house-made tart for the evening, served with fresh cream on the side. For those of you who enjoy a nice glass of wine with your meal, they offer an extensive list by the glass or bottle. The setting is cozy with the fire pits blazing. We happened to be there on a snowy night, so we looked out the window to the most beautiful snowfall. Unfortunately, the storm caused the main road to close, so we had to take a detour back down, which was slow and slippery. She was great and very knowledgeable. Our reservation was for 9pm and it was the last reservation time of the night so we were a bit worried that they would rush us out. But, It was the complete opposite. I left telling my boyfriend how shocked I was with how good fireside was. Food was delicious. My wife and I have been vacationing in Utah for most of the past 10 years and every year HAS to include Fireside Dining at the Empire Canyon Lodge in Deer Valley; it is her favorite dining experience of all times, anywhere! (She would have given this review 11 stars). It is a five course meal, set near blazing fireplaces that diners visit at their leisure (please do NOT think of it as a buffet). The first course is a melted cheese appetizer called a raclette, the style of cheese in wheels that hang from metal hooks near an inferno-like fire and drip onto white plates. You are handed the plate and take it to a table of accompaniments like mustards, onions, cornichons, smoked meats and fingerling potatoes; next is a table of soups and salads along side a fireplace of a fish, beef and a stew and roschti potatoes; the next is a carving station with lamb and, just recently added, a second meat like duck or pork which change weekly. The final course is a dessert fondue with dark chocolate, white chocolate with Grand Marnier and caramel varieties. The first reason I only give the review 4 stars is the portion size offered; one slice of pork or lamb, one tenderloin medallion or a small morsel of salmon is absurd, regardless of the number of choices. The other reason is that some of the choices of soups sit on the serving table, uncovered and unheated, so that they are actually cool when sampled. If they can't be warmed on a chafing dish, they need to be replenished more frequently so they can be enjoyed at the proper temperature. read more

Having been to Park City and Deer Valley many times and having always passed on Fireside Dining, casting it aside as a mere high-end, over-priced buffet, on my last visit, upon seeing a video of the raclette melting onto plates, my group of friends decided that we needed to try it, and we're very glad we did. The atmosphere in the lodge is pleasantly understated. It's rustic and classy, but neither of those elements is remotely overdone. The servers' focuses are giving directions about the experience, taking drink orders and clearing plates frequently, And Woody, our server, was a pro and knocked it out of the park on all counts. The "four courses" are really an all-you-can-eat, buffet-style proposition, but with lots of great twists. Raclette is melted on both sides of a giant fireplace in the center of the main room. This tasty plate of cheese is further enhanced by any number of delicious items including various mustard, onions and cured meats. The salad table was anything but ordinary. The entrees are really divided into sections. One had a selection of stews along with trout and some potato pancake-like potatoes while the other had a lamb leg roasting at a fireplace, while both leg of lamb and prime rib were served with all of the proper accouterments. Desserts were also in two sections. At one, a chef made tequila blueberries flambe and poured them over a frozen lemon tart, while the other offered three fondues (Grand Marnier vanilla, dark chocolate and caramel) and a giant table of sweet and fruits to dip into the rich fondues. The wine list is a solid one. The view outside is pretty and includes horse drawn sleighs and pine trees with thousands of sparkling lights, not to mention the natural mountainous beauty of the area. read more

Spring in Deer Valley has me wondering if the staff and crew want to pack up and head down the mountain for the summer. Laid back, not quite as efficient has defined our stay this spring break. I know the less than stellar ski season must have an impact on the spirit of the sport and all those who cater to us. But, the last mile of a marathon must be run with integrity or you crash before your timing chip hits the finish line giving you credit for a job well done. Fireside is a favorite thing for us during our Deer Valley stays. It is pricey but always worth the cost. But this time, it failed to deliver. The flavors were okay, the choices not too varied, and the staff appeared to be rode hard and put away wet. Specifiically, the Boar ribs were cold and had a tough texture and tart flavor. The leek soup was tangy and thin and the lamb, my hubby's fav, was only okay. Then at the end they had the nerve to nickel and dime us for a cup of coffee, which should be included. Will not return...too many other optiions abound...though not bad, just not Deer Valley stellar. read more

We finally made it to Fireside Dining for our anniversary. The food was fantastic and the service excellent. We are Glitretind regulars but are thinking of making this our choice for next Christmas. Heck, we even saw Stein Eriksen himself enjoying dinner a few tables away. The Swiss Racalette to start was a new experience and we really liked it. Go easy as you could easily make this first course a whole meal. The veal stew, Utah trout and venison were out of this world. The stew and trout are mainstays on the menu and the venison was the selection for this week. Don't worry about the carbs and have your stew on top of the potato rosti. I really like lamb so the 3rd course, leg of lamb roasted on a string right at the fireplace was great. The last course, chocolate fondue, was good but the first 3 courses are so terrific, I could live without it. Hard core chocolate fans won't want to miss it though. read more

One of the best meals we had on the mountain. There are 5 courses to this awesome European style restaurant, all of which are next to large fireplaces. There is a Swiss cheese station, ratcliffe I believe it was called. Followed by soups, salads and small plate appetizer dishes. In the back room is where the main courses were roasted, lamb and Turkey legs are fantastic. To finish off the night there are flambae and fondue stations.
