Beautiful property, beautiful building. The property is enormous and extends all the way to the beach on the bay with steps leading down that let you keep exploring. All rooms face the bay and have their own balcony. Lots of amenities including a gift shop with Belfast branded coffee mugs, clothing, stuffed moose, etc. A fitness center, a pool, hot tub and sauna, lots of lawn games including giant chess, and a back deck with couches and a propane fire pit. They sell wine and beer at the front desk and it was a perfect night of relaxing outside under the stars by the fire with a cold beverage. Our room was clean and spacious, the front desk employees were kind and helpful, and there was plenty of parking close to the entrance that led to the room. Though this hotel is on the other side of the bay and therefor a bit far out of downtown Belfast, it was still a great and relaxing place and I'm glad I made the choice to book it. read more

The room, facilities and overall gorgeous view were impeccable. We stayed during Memorial Day weekend and booked that night and absolutely loved our stay! We loved bringing our dog and staying on the first floor- which was easily accessible to the beach and sit down area. We loved watching the sunrise and sunset on the property and relaxing in the Adirondack chairs. It was the perfect and much needed vacation with our furry best friend. Staff is very friendly and helpful with dining recommendations. Rooms are clean and the water view is gorgeous. Pool, hot tub and sauna were great and refreshing after a long day. My wife and I were on a week long road trip along the coast of Maine and my wife found this wonderful hotel. We checked in and the first thing you notice when you enter your room is that there is a massage chair IN THE ROOM! I immediately tried it and it was AMAZING! The bed was super comfortable and the view out the back is a huge lawn, ending with a great water view. It is about a tenth of a mile walk down to the water (Yes, it is that big of a lawn) The pool was wonderful and I had a nice soak after a long day around Maine, and there were some nice places for dinner nearby. The breakfast was okay and the staff was super nice here. I would say this was the best place we stayed on our awesome Maine coastline road trip. read more

All rooms look out on the ocean and ground floor rooms are pet friendly to walk your pal down to the ocean or around their great grounds. A very nice little free continental breakfast in the morning in the lodge part. Easy load in and out too of rooms. Plus like I said, all rooms look to the ocean!!!! Indoor pool is Awesome!!! This is a nice place to stay -- but I have concerns. My first time staying there I noticed hair on the walls of the shower the next morning, I took a picture and showed the young lady at the front desk and she just said "ok". I really didn't expect her to do anything because you can tell she is not trained to handle complaints. That's cool, simple coaching will help her. I checked in last night, one week later, and was dead tired. I turned on the heat and went right to sleep. Woke up this morning to brush my teeth and BAAM!! Hair in the sink, mind you, I'm bald. I really believe there needs to be some serious spot checking behind the room cleaners. When I come in I spray everything with Lysol and I wipe everything, I wasn't doing the restroom until this morning -- my mistake. My suggestion when checking in, have them change all the linen and make sure you clean and wipe. read more

An old school 'motor lodge' kind of hotel that was just fine, pretty middle of the road. To be honest it was a bit of a Tinder-style ruse that had a major glow up in the photos but real life told another story. Many of the photos show fireplaces in all styles of room, and it's called Fireside, so we were a little disappointed to have a room with no fireplace. Instead, we had some super springy beds that were surprisingly comfortable. We'd requested a crib/pack & play for our toddler and when we arrived it wasn't there. The person helping us got one quickly into the room and a pile of sheets that were literally completely covered in stains. Those things should've not only been Marie Kondo-ed, they should've been turned into cleaning rags years ago. We made some makeshift ones with our big bed sheets instead. The warm breakfast was average but good in a pinch. My kiddo was so taken with the waffle maker and peanut butter that she exclaimed, "Daddy this is GREAT!" which made me appreciate it more. She was tided over which made our real breakfast in downtown Belfast that much better. Side note I felt like we drove into downtown Belfast about 10 times during our brief nights here, and it is close to drive but no way you could walk it. I'd say it's about 10 minutes door to door, but an easy drive. There's not much in downtown Belfast in the way of hotels so something like this might be your play. read more

Very friendly staff, very room with an ocean view, reasonable prices, clean and spacious rooms.

Woof. We stayed in a ground floor room, which did not have carpet, and they clearly don't mop the floors. Our socks immediately turned black and odd bits stuck to them. We started only taking off our shoes to get into bed. When we arrived, there was a spiderweb in the corner with a spider and other insects in it. We left it, considering it better the spider catch things than that they roam free. But I still had to kill a roach on our final morning, so the spider must have been full. Our room remained incredibly humid to the point of dampness unless we set the temperature at 60, which meant shivering in our summer clothes. It had a distinct musty smell. The sheets were clean, but stained. The pillows were lumpy balls of sadness. I cannot fathom how this is a 3 star hotel. Even if our room were clean and roach free, this is barely a step up from a cheap motel. Spare yourself this particular experience. read more

I do business in the area so I've stayed a couple times at the Fireside in Belfast and I'd honestly never go anywhere else! The rooms in the hotel have the most comfortable beds. During these cold winter nights it's great having such a cozy little fireplace. Some rooms even have massage chairs! On the counter at check in they have this cute little basket where you can read a positive saying, and sometimes have little treats like whoopie pies! This summer I was in the area for a while and stayed in their Lawn Cottage. This place was beyond adorable. I had my own little deck with adorandak chairs that I loved to drink my coffee in and over look the ocean. I would 100% recommend to everyone! read more

I have eaten Lobster at a place called The Lobster Pound South of this establishment and was told by the waitress that the Fireside Inn was owned by the same people. It was a little more expensive than I thought it would be, especially since it is considered off-season, and the leaf peepers had not yet arrived, because the leaves have not really started turning color. The room was comfortable, though it needed a little bit of maintenance because some of the pictures were rehung and they left original holes in the walls. There was also a tiny bit of mold in some of the corners in the bathroom, but other than that it was a nice room and I would go back. The photos were what we saw outside of our room off the balcony, even though it was too chilly to go out. read more

Stayed here for one night and really enjoyed it. It is located conveniently around stores, so that's a plus. Staff - Very nice and friendly. I came here at 10 PM, which is unfortunately the time the pool/sauna/hot tub closes, which is the main reason why I chose this hotel in particular. I talked to the staff and they kindly gave me an extra 30 minutes, as long as I was quiet, so a huge shoutout to them. Hotel - Very clean and well kept. The atmosphere was quiet and it can be a nice place to hang out or read a magazine. Room - The room was average, until you went outside in the patio. It gives you a beautiful view of a bay, which was completely unexpected since I came here at night. It has a huge lawn where you can walk around with your dogs and just enjoy the outdoors. The room I ordered was non-smoking, but there was a slight odor to it, but you get used to it quickly. Amenities - The pool is open 9 AM - 9 PM, which was disappointingly only 4 feet deep. The pool is inside so it never gets cold. The hot tub was like your average hot tub. Very relaxing and soothing. The sauna is like your average sauna, except the benches that you sit on were low, which means that you would need to stand up in order to get most of the heat onto you. Otherwise, well kept. Breakfast - Good selection of different foods such as waffles, muffins, fruits, etc. You can also go to the balcony and eat while enjoying the beautiful view of the bay. Overall, really good value for the price. Would stay here again. read more

Nice new wood flooring inside the room. They eventually need to remodel the hallway and elevator with flooring since carpet looks out dated and kinda smells in elevator. Great breakfast with many options for food including gluten free sausage. Nice variety of cereal and pastries. Can sit outside for breakfast and enjoy the view of the river. That being said, I did not find the staff friendly at all. No smiles no small talk. The breakfast area was small and offered the typical hotel breakfast fare. The elevator had a musty mildew smell. We have stayed at this location many times with our family when it was the Comfort Inn and were not disappointed. The kids loved the pool and the continental breakfast. Therefore when we heard they were now Fireside Inns we didn't know what to expect. The first impression was that the hotel exterior looked the same. It was our lucky night, we were upgraded to a fireplace room! The room was cozy and the king-size bed was unbelievably comfortable. All rooms have a water view; since this was on the second floor it had a small deck overlooking the bay. The deluxe continental breakfast buffet had cold and hot items including make-your-own Belgian waffles. Coffee and tea carafes are in the lobby 24 hours a day, but if you don't want to leave your room there is a Kuerig to make your own coffee. Clean and comfortable. Excellent value! read more

The view from any room you stay in is absolutely breathtaking. The rooms themselves are a little dated however they did have a nice large flat screen tv in. Overall I probably would of given it 4 stars however our "non-smoking" room smelled like Marlboro just held a convention in it the night before. read more

Anyone that gives this place any type of good review must have money to just waste. The rooms are nothing special. Although the bathroom door closed it did not latch and a strong breeze would blow it open. The rooms were clean I will give them that. The "staff" , meaning the complacent lady behind the desk that seemed to be on some kind of power trip, was less than helpful. This place is a complete cash grab, I'm surprised they don't take a tip from motel six and charge you to use the slow internet per device. (Now that i mentioned it, they probably will start. They turned the lobby into a make shift "Gift shop". filled with items you can find at any stereo typical shop around maine, at a huge markup, of coarse. If you were thinking to yourself, "Well, at least I'll get a continental breakfast with my over priced room." Think again! The staff informed us that they don't do that anymore, but they have breakfast items you can buy. Breakfast items include but are not limited to, microwavable sandwiches, not even the decent Jim Bean ones but the off brand, nasty ones that you can literally get at the big apple(our version of 7-11 for anyone non-local) just up the road. And again, they jacked the price up on those. I saved the best for last. They packaged waffles that they them selves make in a waffle maker(which is literally on the counter next to the pre-packaged items) and are selling them for a mere 5.00$ a piece. a box of bisquik is probably around 5 dollars or so for the large box. I don't know how many waffles that makes but they are literally paying fractions of a cent on this and marking them up to 5.00$? I'm well aware of how business works but i also know when I'm getting ripped off. I am a local and have stayed at this hotel many times over the years and this will be the last time I do. I encourage anyone traveling to the area to boycott this place. maybe support the locale air bnb or something. This place is out of hand. If i could i would give this place a negative five stars. Their is a dirty, scummy, shit hole of a place just up the road call the "admirals ocean inn" I have more respect for the admirals than the fireside. Extremely disappointed and frankly enraged that they are allowed to do this and still charge what they do. They must think because they have a pool they better than everyone else. Will give 4 stars since I didn't actually stay there. Walked around to scope out for future visit. Grounds and setting are extremely nice with huge lawn that goes down to rocky beach. Lobby and rooms (they were kind enough to let me peek at one) were fairly dated (though apparently remodeled only 3 years ago) but clean and serviceable. I haven't checked prices yet. Might stay if inexpensive but prefer something either more modern or current unless outright quaint. Sitting outside and enjoying the view would be lovely though. Also nice to have pool if traveling with kids. read more

I booked this reservation through booking.com and was told one price and once at the hotel was charged almost 100 dollars more. The first floor smelled like armpit which was gross. Breakfast was included but wasn't great. The air conditioning also did not work, after reading some of the reviews I'm not the only one who had this issue. To start off me and my girlfriend were very excited to go to Maine we planned months in advance and we found this place we saw pretty good reviews it wasn't exactly cheap but we didn't have to break the bank either. However we were extremely disappointed in our stay. The staff was useless it seemed like they didn't care about any complaints and were more accustomed to sitting in their chairs all day. We asked for extra shampoo and conditioner for our room because we ran out and we were immediately sassed at by the women behind the desk and she acted as if doing that one task was the biggest chore in the world. They put us on the ground floor with no interest connection and the wifi was a joke you couldn't text or call and when you did connect you would almost immediately disconnect. Next the pool the pool itself was actually very enjoyable but the hot tub had a strange black substance floating to which we then decided to not use the hot tub for the rest of our stay. Next the lodging fee of 20$ a night I was never made aware of this I made a reservations in advance and was told what my total for my nights stayed would be and it turned out to be not true idk if this is something that is normal but I couldn't believe no one even thought to mention it. Last and definitely not least would be the "continental breakfast," we weren't expecting much but what we got was even lower than our expectations. My girlfriend opened the fridge and there was a tiny half full carton of milk. They had freezer Burt egg sandwiches that you warm up yourself and cereal but no milk. After seeing this we decided to go downtown and eat at a local diner. So I'm the end I would NOT recommend this place, I would suggest staying here if you had absolutely no other options. read more

Situated on 10 acres of waterfront property, EVERY room has an ocean view with a balcony and plastic lawn furniture chairs. I purchased my room on priceline for very little money, under $100 as rooms in Camden, my ultimate destination, are pricey. The drive is maybe 20 minutes from Camden. The parking lot is large and parking is free in front of the building. Check in was a pleasure and they even gave us small chocolate candy/pastry on a stick. The front desk staff were extremely pleasant and helpful throughout our entire stay. We were happily given directions and suggestions like staying at a $200 to $250 big city hotel. The free breakfast had make your own waffles, cold cereal, millk, coffee, apple juice, orange juice, bread, bagels, danish, cream cheese, jam, syrup for the waffles, and more. One may dine inside or outside on a big deck if the weather is warrm.. Free wifi and even an indoor pool and spa. The room: Clean, somewhat modern, with a gas fireplace and a quiet wall heater/ac. Lighting was a tad weak yet worked. The TV screen was flat and large. The beds were comfortable unless you are a whiner and expect a $1500 bed. The bathroom was just fine. Our stay was very pleasant and we would stay here again if we wanted to be near Camden without paying through the nose. Again, we were extremely happy. We came here on our way back to Boston from Maine. It seems like a family run business, everyone was very friendly and nice. We got our room fairly quickly even though we checked in pretty late. This hotel comes with a lot of amenities: swimming pool, jacuzzi, sauna, and a small game room with a few classic 90's video games. The best part of this place is the waterfront view. We even have a patio door to go out to the water front. The rooms were very neat and clean, and stocked with towels and coffee. The wifi was decently fast, I was streaming Netflix with no problem. There was free breakfast in the morning as well. For the price we paid, I'd definitely recommend this hotel for travelers. read more

The view at the back of the hotel is simply beautiful. In the morning it is peaceful and quiet, we were able to step outside from our rooms. The service was great. My group arrived late and the person at the front desk purposely opened their pool a bit later, until the end of her shift, to accommodation us. The pool area was nice too with a Jacuzzi (both which are handicap friendly) and a sauna room. The balcony near the breakfast area was a great place to take pictures and simply enjoy the outdoors. My wife and I spent a night on our way up to Castine and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Amazing view, room was clean and just as advertised. We had a king fireplace room, lots of space and the bed was extremely comfortable. They got most of the little things right - friendly staff, they accommodated our request for a late check-out (noon! awesome), the in-room coffee was good, and there were plenty of towels. The location is perfect, close to everything. Upon arrival at midnight of our 5 night stay, we noted and liked the flickering lanterns by the entrance and the A Frame look of the front, reminded us of Playmobile toys. We walked in and the busty woman with a weird hairdo at the check in desk was very unfriendly- no "Hello, how may I help you?" Or any helpful info about breakfast times, or pool times, etc. We were shocked because of that first off. We took the elevator down to our room, although we could have walked being it was one flight down. The room upon entry smelled a bit like cigarettes and stinky. The floors were a laminate fake wood grain, which was weird. The view from the room is breathtaking- I imagine in the summer it would be amazing to walk down and sit and enjoy the view. It was super cold and snowy so we didn't walk down. The beds were pretty comfy. Bathroom had what we needed, but everything was a little older and needed a freshening up. It all suited our needs. The breakfast was so-so, its free. The worst part of the whole stay was the very unfriendly staff that wouldn't acknowledge our presence. There was only 1 woman in 5 days that was friendly. The second morning I was unloading the car while my family slept, and had my hands full. I struggled to open the front door while the staff watched me. (They need automatic doors!) Then I proceeded to the elevator and had to put my bags down to push the button, and again, stares from the staff but no help. I was in Belfast Maine in the first week in May for work. The Fireside Inn was cleaned, beautiful views and friendly staff, for the most part. The second day there was a Saturday which I had off and decided to enjoy the view outside on the balcony of my room. The maintenance man drives onto the lawn, he pulls out of the truck, sees me and gives me a less than sincere smile. I didn't make anything out of it and continue to enjoy my coffee and the view. He moves on to get a patio table out of the truck and as he is setting it up, a conversation started between him and the Cleaning Lady who was working on the second floor. I believe his name was Greg or Craig. I didn't catch the cleaning lady's name. Cleaning Lady: is this going to be one of those days, Greg? Greg: like what days? Cleaning Lady: when you don't want to be here Greg: that's every day for me. I'm Lazy Cleaning Lady: Did you just get those? Referring to the patio table Greg: No. I got them from the garage basement Cleaning Lady: Garaje- with a pretend accent Greg: garaje basement; basement garaje. You know my SPICnglish. He said that as he glanced at my balcony Cleaning Lady: giggles. This is a very unfortunate incident which changed my mind about how professional the hotel staff is. I understand that we all have the right to speak our minds, however, Hotel and Service industry need to be more discrete when expressing and exercising their right to speak their minds.
