That was the first thing we saw walking in. I would have run back to the car, but it was pouring rain. The room was filthy. We had just finished a 5-hour drive, and with the storm, we didn't see any other option but to stay the night. I didn't sleep; I was freaking out, basically in tears. I'm terrified of spiders. My husband managed to fall asleep, and he got a few bug bites to show for it. In the morning, we turned in the key and told the employee about our problem. They were very nice. When we inquired about a refund, they said we would have to go through Booking.com for our money back. We thanked them and headed to another hotel. Booking says they are disputing our refund, and they couldn't come to an agreement with them. I wasn't on vacation; I was attending a doctor's appointment, and I tried to make it more enjoyable for my child by turning it into a weekend trip. Yes, they make you sign a waiver that says no refunds, period, but I was expecting them to at least have to provide a habitable room. Over $400 for a room that no one should be expected to stay in. I've had dirty hotel rooms before, but the bugs that were biting are inexcusable. Their refusal to give me my money back and not answering my email just adds insult to injury. I didn't realize that when I booked a room here, I was paying for stress and spider bites.

When we arrived there was no one there but our key was left outside in an envelope. Now I understand not having a desk attendant all day because there is only 9 people checking in, max. However, I couldn't find an email anywhere that stated the check-in process. I assume crime is very low in the area so I guess my key being out is ok. As others mentioned, the rooms are decorated with items you would see in your grandma's house. Since it was covid, there is no breakfast or anything. I understand not serving due to covid but other B&B's found ways to improvise. I was disappointed that there was not even a Keurig or small coffee pot in the room. No bottled water left or anything to help. Just a note that said to not use the dishes in the kitchen & bags of ice in the freezer. Other B&B's along the Maine coast had coffee in room & served grab-n-go breakfast items for about the same price paid here. I'm sure the family that owns this is nice, local people so I feel bad for not giving 5 stars but I have to be honest. Was trying to support local rather than a chain hotel.

what a neat place to stop for the night. actually got in at a bit earlier than night so we had a…read moregreat chance to explore. what an easy place to find as you are going down the road. this is a real great representation of what motels used to be like a long time ago. was terrific just to sit and relax. our hosts were great and we talked with them the next day. found the motel as i was researching for a trip my girlfriend and i took--all the way to lubec maine which was the next stop--all the way from albuquerque. the location is on the main street but is far enough that you dont notice it. so it is a nice quiet place to be. you do need to get used to a smaller bathroom in the unit but that lends to the quaint feel of the room. the shower was terrific and the room was really nice and warm considering it was in may and it can be chilly there. had a blast going thru the treasures and trash barn just down the street--you will be amazed at what you find there.

The room was cheaper than many hotels in the area and the location was great, within walking distance to stores and restaurants. They also have a designated parking area, which is convenient. Everyone working there was very nice. That being said, the hotel would benefit from an update with a little more attention to detail. For instance, the bathroom exhaust fan was dusty and there was some sloppy paint work around the towel bar, kick boards, and outlets. The hair dryer outlet was very loose and needs to be replaced. The walls are thin and we could hear the people talking in the room next to our room. The bed was very soft, lumpy, and uncomfortable. The bathroom door was swollen and difficult to close. The second floor has exposed pipes in the hallway. The popcorn ceiling in our room immediately contributes to a dated feeling. An extension cord ran from the basement under the door to the front of the building, with a series of extension cords running out front. A few upgrades would make a big difference, even if it means increasing the rate. We will look for other accommodations , should we return.

The Cedar Crest Inn is a very nice place to spend your time in Camden, even though it's located…read moreright on US 1 (which has traffic all day long with many trucks passing by) which might make it a little bit noisy Luckily enough the hotel was not full so the owner gave us a room in a quiet area and we couldn't hear any noise at all coming from the road. It's a basic motel, but it's very clean and cozy and provided us with some quality sleep time. There's also a restaurant inside the motel area, called Elm Street Grille, which unfortunately closes very early in the evening (at least for our standards), and that offers also breakfast. We actually got two 5$ coupons for breakfast that we used the morning after and we were very pleased with the choice (I'll write a separate review for that). If you don't mind a little walking, you can get in the center of Camden in 10-15 minutes depending on your pace (honestly it looked closer when we first booked it). If you don't want to move your car to go to town then maybe you should look for a different place, otherwise it's a place I'd recommend.
