Lauren and Greg are the new owners and are keeping up the same charming reputation as the past owners. When we arrived we were met by Lauren and her son Elliott. They welcomed us to the Inn, gave us a tour and some fresh baked cookies. When we came downstairs in the morning Lauren had set out coffee and fresh baked crumpets. For breakfast she served overnight oats with chia seeds and blueberry compote followed by a tomato artichoke frittata and salad. Everything was excellent! Since we are avid hikers Greg recommended the Mount Battie trail which is within walking distance from the hotel. As we were heading off for our hike, Lauren provided us with more fresh baked cookies still warm from the oven. Greg and Lauren made us feel right at home as did their son Elliott. Elliott has a true entrepreneurial spirit and is very knowledgeable about the Inn and the area despite his young age. It was a pleasure staying here. read more

The inn... this inn is situated within walking distance of downtown Camden, ME and is very convenient to get to. This inn has 10 rooms, dining area, little lobby area with community things such as a ice, bottles of water to take to your room, brochures for local attractions, games, dvd, etc. the history of this Inn is pretty cool. When we decided to travel to Maine, my mother said please stay here they have amazing breakfast every morning! I like food and I trust my mom when it comes to matters of food! Breakfast- each breakfast was absolutely amazing! Two course breakfast with blue harbor house inn coffee! They even have their own blend of coffee! Matt is the evil genius In the kitchen for the most part but don't let michelle fool you. Her French toast was probably the best I have ever had. Hands down. Sorry mom... Accommodations. Sorry didn't get a pic before we moved in for 4 days! But the room was nice. Michelle was kind enough to upgrade us to a little larger room before we arrived. The Queen bed, Little snug for the wife and I but who cares! ( I am a big guy and like my room!) The room was simple yet perfect for us, we did a lot of exploring the area. We chose the Blue Harbor House Inn as a destination to celebrate our Anniversary. We could not have been happier with our selection! From the moment we checked in we felt as though we were staying with an old friend, one who welcomes you with open arms and makes you feel comfortable the moment you arrive. All of the rooms offer something special to make your stay enjoyable. The weather was a bit cool so we enjoyed some time snuggling by the fireplace. What a lovely stay! Perfect for Celiacs and others with dietary restrictions. Michelle was extremely careful and produced food for me that was delicious and beautifully served -- both for breakfast and for the afternoon snack. The decor is charming in the rooms, and the location is excellent - a five-minute walk to the harbor. We stayed here for 2 nights two weeks ago it was great Terry and Annette a Scottish couple own the BB. It is in walking distance to the town so we never took our car unless we ventured out to other parts of Camden and surrounding towns. The room we had was spacious the bed was very comfortable shower was unreal with jets and steam, along with a sound system built in. Over stuffed huge chairs that were so firm and very relaxing, along with a gas fireplace. Breakfast is included homemade granola with fresh vanilla yogurt and eggs of your choice. The evening before we'd had the dinner of a lifetime at The Lost Kitchen - so we were only hoping for decent coffee... Well, to our delight breakfast was wonderful: a wedge of cantaloupe beautifully plated with fork and knife, topped with crème fraîche and berries. Excellent blueberry pancakes with real maple syrup and good bacon. And great coffee. I'm usually not a fan of B&Bs - Blue Harbor is an exception. Highest recommendation! read more

We had the most lovely and restful time at the Blue Harbor House. We stayed in the Chart House suite which had very comfortable mattress and luxuriously smooth bed linens. The bathroom had strong water pressure. This particular room has a small anteroom with two recliners and a tv and a second room for sleeping with a second tv. Air conditioner was sufficient but seemed very loud but once we got used to it, lulled us to sleep. . Windows were tiny and only one had a screen. Carpet has seen better days and this particular room is entirely wood paneled. Fixtures are a bit dated BUT in the way of a thrifty relative who doesn't see the point of changing our serviceable and good quality items just because styles have changed. Everything was very very clean, very very comfortable and served its purpose. We didn't get to partake of the afternoon snacks as we arrived late BUT the next mornings breakfast was outstanding in a beautiful country style room. Homemade granola parfait with fresh fruit and an individual quiche. My traveling companion was able to have an omelette made instead of the quiche at the last minute which he greatly appreciated. The host was amazing -- kind and friendly and full of great suggestions for local activities and meals. This B and B reminded me of the homey hospitality we received when traveling through Great Britain many years back. Really lovely and hospitable experience. read more

Has to be one of the most excellent places to stay in Camden! The inn is beautiful inside - New England style, rustic and comfortable - and conveniently located within short walking distance to downtown. It's beautifully landscaped outside and very welcoming. Our room was perfect: small but adequate, hosting an en-suite with steam shower. The Innkeepers scattered rose petals on the bed and chocolate covered strawberries upon arrival - nice touch! There's a communal cubby outside the room with a fridge, DVDs, games, books and wine chiller with a small selection of bottled wines for guests to take to their rooms - again, nice touch. Breakfast is served between 8-9am in the comfortable dining room, and was amazing! The juice was fresh, the coffee robust, the teas strong and flavourful (with a secret stash imported from Scotland), and Terry, the owner, never left a glass or cup empty - his service was impeccable. For starters he brought out French Vanilla yoghurt with homemade granola and fresh berries which was great. Next up, Quiche Lorraine... which, if done right, can be a brilliant start to the day. Sure enough it was perfect: fluffy eggs, tasty chopped bacon chunks, fresh tomatoes, onions, and mild spices with a light and crusty pastry, served in personal terrines, and garnished with fresh fruit on the side. To top off the best meal of the day, Terry brought out juice-poached plum (or was it baked, I don't remember?) which was glazed in honey and served atop yoghurt and fresh basil - wow! We were stuffed and satisfied with such an excellent breakfast. We met the other owner, Annette, who was extremely friendly. Overall, we couldn't have had a better stay. We stayed here and were in the Nautical Nook. The room had low sloping ceilings and was short on space to set anything down. The shower was extremely cramped although neither of us are big people. And, even though we were running a road race and needed a late Sunday checkout of a room that was already booked, they offered us a shower in another room! They also mailed my hat back that I left in the room. No charge! The innkeepers really make this place and it's location just a bit out of the heart of downtown Camden make just for the perfect walk after dinner. read more

We stayed here for one night and Terry & Annette the innkeepers could not have been more helpful. We should come clean and state we also run an inn, so we do have very high standards. These were certainly met, in all but one small and we think important area. Having said that the area in question is a very subjective observation. We like to find inns and B & B's that reflect the owners, and we felt Blue Harbour house reflected a previous owner of business when it came to the bedroom & bathroom. Our room was spotlessly clean but we felt it was dated. The fixtures and light fittings etc did not have a wow factor about them, and the decor was not reflective of our taste, but we must stress we do like a 'WOW" when it comes to decor! The breakfast was a simple affair, and as we are not partial to pancakes....well we are British, a very enjoyable omlette was offered and delicious it was too. The inn has a homely feel to it and we think it was us and not the inn, that was not quiet right for our tastes. See told you it was a subjective comment..... Nowt wrong with the place if you don't mind traditional New England, and in Camden there are many competitors all doing that style...which we think does create an opportunity for a competitor to undercut the overpriced Camden Harbour Inn.....at about $400.00 a night you'd think they would have proper air conditioning at the C.H.I. rather than cheap window units! read more

We stayed here on a whim last weekend. I called a few hotels in Camden while we were driving north without luck. My mother suggested the Blue Harbor having stayed here a few years back. Perfect location, an easy walk into town and affordable. The inn is quiet and spacious, we stayed in a two bedroom suite with its own entrance and sitting room downstairs. The afternoon tea was a delightful surprise upon our arrival. (The chocolate flecked macaroons were delicious) The breakfast was well paced, creative menu wise and overall very pleasant. The inn keepers were very accommodating and welcoming. We forgot our phone charger and they were kind enough to mail it to us straight away. I look forward to staying here again and would recommend it to anyone visiting the area. read more

tl;dr This b&b is lousy with issues: bad hospitality, non-functioning toilets, security issues, and dishonest owners to name a few. Our stay started with one of the owners, Matt, rudely brushing off a concern my fiancee and I had with the room. After that we found that our toilet had serious issues flushing. The owners tried to make the toilet problem cute by creating a story for "Loo" about how her handle likes to be held down for 5 seconds, not so cute when you are watching toilet paper spin around while holding the handle for 10 seconds during your third flush attempt. Next, we noticed that there wasn't a second locking mechanism on our door which led directly outside, no deadbolt, no latch, only the lock in the handle. This meant that anyone who stayed previously, an ex worker, or whoever that could have made a copy of the key could come in while we were sleeping. On top of these problems, the bed slumped in the middle, the room wasn't very clean, and the bathroom had mold in it. When we brought these concerns up with the owner who appeared to be more hospitable, Michelle, she asked what would make the situation better, we asked for a refund and she agreed. She said she would issue the refund to my credit card that day and send an email. This turned out to be a complete fabrication. I have not received a refund to my credit card. But, I did receive an email that day, with a gift certificate for blue harbor house inn attached that expires in a year and has restrictions. Because, yeah, I would rather spend more money on a trip up to Maine within a year to stay at a place that I thoroughly disliked, instead of getting the refund that was promised. I've made multiple attempts to contact the owners to resolve the issue, but they have not replied. read more

The Blue Harbor House is an absolutely wonderful B&B in Camden. We stayed in a nice large suite with a fireplace. It was a delightful room. That's the bed part. The breakfast is even better. The Scottish couple who run the Blue Harbor ask if you have any dietary restrictions and build a superb breakfast around that. they also make sure you don't have the same breakfast twice if you' re there for multiple nights. He has a wonderful sense of humor and can give you plenty of tips about shopping and restaurants. There is a small "amenities closet" available with water and ice. Also afternoon tea, but treat yourself to a bottle of wine and some cheese from the local shop (Lily, Lupine, and Fern is the best!) and sit on the front porch to watch the world waltz by. Ah! My husband and I just spent our honeymoon at Blue Harbor House, which I discovered online via bedandbreakfast.com after finding out that friend's recommendations for B&Bs in the area were booked! We left CT Monday early afternoon and I called from the road as we were leaving, explaining that we booked online for our honeymoon, and that we were going to be arriving around 7pm based on how traffic was. Annette made a very good first impression over the phone, was very understanding, and was looking forward to our arrival. We arrived close to 7:30pm, and upon meeting Annette at the door we find out that we got an UPGRADE to a better room with a king size bed (Snug Harbor), when we originally booked Balmy Blue (queen size bed). So so awesome and a very nice surprise! The breakfasts are scrumptious! Terry (Annette's husband) is so nice, and was ready with the orange juice (freshly squeezed) and coffee (I need my caffeine in the morning!), and had soft old school early 20th century jazz and vocals playing in the background.....you feel transported back in time and it was magical! Anyhow, breakfast is served 8-9am....first course then entree.....which is enough food that you don't need a big lunch (maybe a light snack) later on. Here's what we had for breakfast when we were there: Tuesday AM: toasted pineapple & banana w/ coconut cream; Croque Madame (French toast w/ thinly sliced ham, melted white Cheddar, topped w/ fried egg). I had never had a fried egg in my life until then, and it was quite good! Wednesday AM: poached fruit w/ vanilla yogurt; quiche Lorraine w/ side of mixed greens. Thursday AM: sliced watermelon & kiwi w/ coconut lime cream; homemade waffle topped w/ fresh fruit. In the afternoon 4-6pm is tea time, with cookies or treats, which thankfully were leftovers of when we came back from being out and about. The evening we arrived there were these soft baked ginger cookies to die for! Another day there were tea cake cookies, another homemade oatmeal raisin lace cookies! We made sure to get any leftovers to enjoy while relaxing in our sitting room after a long day! Our room was very comfortable, the bed made up with the softest sheets! Our bathroom had a standing shower stall (no bathtub) with an amazing shower head....it took a while for the hot water to warm up but well worth it! A great policy they have is if you don't want your towels to be switched out, you hang them up. If you want clean towels, leave them on the floor. They are also environmentally friendly as if you want items recycled such as plastic or glass, to leave to the side of the trash can in the bathroom. Both Annette and Terry are amazing hosts and made a very excellent first impression on both my husband and I, especially me because this was my first time ever staying at a Bed & Breakfast....the whole experience from start to finish was superb! One aspect that moved me to almost tears of joy was the morning we were leaving to head home, and my husband was having a very difficult time waking up (not a morning person) and missed breakfast. I asked Annette to please at least prepare a waffle with fresh fruit for him; a little bit later she knocks on our door, with a breakfast tray of waffle with fresh fruit, & a glass of fresh oj! My husband was so thankful, and he devoured everything! That moment alone shows that they do go the extra mile which is awesome! We will be back, that's a given! read more

Just got back from a lovely stay at the Blue Harbor House Inn in Camden. The owners, Michelle and Matt, are so friendly and helpful. Everything about the Inn was lovely. The bed was super comfy and there were really nice chairs in our room for reading or chatting as we drank tea or wine. We also enjoyed sitting in the rocking chairs on the porch for reading. I don't think I have anything to say that others haven't already said, but I wanted to add another voice that highly recommends this B&B. The location is nearly perfect. Sure, it's not exactly on the water, but it is also only a few short blocks away from downtown Camden and all the shops and restaurants. As others have said, really no need to drive the few blocks into town if you are able to walk as chances are you wouldn't find a parking spot anyway. The B&B is in a neat 200 or so year old building that used to be a house. The room was very clean and there were no concerns. I must say, and this is important for anybody, that the beds were super comfortable. Maybe the best hotel/B&B bed I have ever slept on. I appreciate the owners spending a few extra bucks to give their guests awesome beds. The shower had awesome water pressure. Woo-hoo! The breakfast: As everyone else has said, the breakfast is fabulous! I am not a big "breakfast person", but I ate every bite for the two mornings I stayed, so did my wife. Yummy!!!! Great coffee too!! and I am a "coffee person". I could eat here every morning if I could! The days my wife and I stayed, we had the pancakes, and the quiche. Best pancakes I have ever eaten. Aunt Jemima these are not! lol! They are made from scratch and you can tell. The owners are very friendly, and pointed out as to where to eat, and where to visit. We ended up following her advice and choosing the waterfront restaurant for an appetizer and drinks. It was great! Back at the Inn, we stayed in the 'snug suite'. It was spacious and comfortable, with TVs in both rooms and enough books to keep us interested for a while. Our favorite part of the stay was the food though. Macaroon cookies at tea time (around 5) were yummy! and breakfast was amazing!
