I want to first thank CJ for being so awesome! I have been stressed over my snow tire situation but he was able to help me through it quick. I greatly appreciate it, CJ! I bought snow tires from Costco because Bridgestone had a sales with rebate and penny installation. 3 days after the purchase, I was not able to get my snow tires installed. In fact, Costco told me that I won't be able to bring in my car for another 3 weeks. That is ridiculous. You should try to meet your customers' needs as soon as possible. Or at least find an alternative way to show that you care. It had been snowing 3 times in the past week. My car has slipped multiple times in the snow. It was not acceptable to not have snow tires on especially after paying for them. I decided to go to Firestone since they offer the same snow tires for the same price. Only difference are the labor costs. Firestone also does price matching. Initially, they said they don't match wholesale company. But CJ somehow managed to get firestone to match what I paid for at Costco. It was maybe roughly $40 more than what I paid for Costco but that is completely okay! Firestone got my snow tires on the next day! I was able to drive safely without slipping! I felt that I was able to express my concerns. CJ made sure that my snow tires will be on as soon as possible. Overall, it is a wonderful experience. I have mixed feelings but overall not satisfied with this shop. Have had our vehicle serviced a few times here for alignment and oil pan (gasket?) repair. We were referred by our specialty auto place that doesn't perform alignments. Alignment went ok no problems after. The 2nd service for leaking oil pan repair. (Our specialty auto place was not available & teen son needed the car to drive back quickly to college an hour away). Brought car in. They held for a reasonable amount of time to get work done. Repair seemed to go well. With significant cost (probably typical cost). However when we returned to our specialty auto place we were told there was a complete mess left of the oil pan repair! We were advised to return the car to Firestone for a redo of the original repair! As well I had to confer directly with the manager (very accommodating) because the receptionist/shop clerk was very evasive when I initially called to request the redo! read more

My tire sensor came on right I was about to make my 220 mile journey home. I pulled into the parking lot and the front desk staff were friendly and immediately asked one of the mechanics to assist and check my tires. Carry was very helpful, checked the pressure on all my tires, adjusted to the right level and send me on my way! If I didn't live so far away, I would have purchased new tires there. I got a flat tire driving downtown to work and managed to limp my car to their parking lot. Despite being completed packed, the friendly staff told me they could get it fixed before the end of the day and helped me out despite the tragic state of my rim and wheel locks. Honestly if they catered to the customer instead of being money hungry they could have had me as a customer. I was planning on getting an alignment as well, before getting that done I wanted an OBD scan to give me comfort in driving my car until appointment. They instead wanted me to set that up with the appointment for an extra inspection fee. Just went to Orileys for scan (for free) and going else where for the alignment. If they were more open to helping me I would have set an appointment for alignment and fix engine light problem, instead they showed me they were more interested in an inspection fee than to just help (as much work as plugging in phone). Some side information I called the gentleman Westin and asked if they can scan it for me a couple days before, although I couldn't be there that day I assumed the deal stood, 30 second scan would be something they could do. My daughter is in college out of state at U of M. Her friend slammed the trunk closed on the buckle of a bag, and the hatchback latch got stuck. She was not able to open the hatchback from inside or outside of the car. She drove past Firestone and stopped there. One of the employees, David Moreno, was unable to open it either. He climbed into the trunk through the backseat, managed to get it open for her, and then wouldn't accept any payment. So thankful to them for looking out for our daughter! Absolutely terrible. I've never had a good experience here. If you're a young woman/female college student, don't even try it cause they won't take you seriously and will keep your car the entire day for an oil change while you watch other people who got there after you get their cars before you. They very rarely contact me when the car is done, I have to call them when it's been 9 hours for an oil change and then they acted shocked that no one's contacted me. Today I brought my car in for an oil change at 9:30 am and was told it would be done by 4... spoiler alert it wasn't done AT ALL. It just never got done and now I have to take it somewhere else to get the amazing luxury of an oil change I am paying for. Bunch of liars. I asked them to check if all the fluids for the car were at a good level and to top it off as necessary since I suspected we were low on coolant. They charged 70+ dollars for the oil change and assured me they had checked the fluid levels. This morning, car overheated again and when we checked, there was basically no coolant. I recently had to go to Ann Arbor for my job. Once I got to the city I noticed I had a flat. I looked up some local shops to go to and I decided on Firestone on E. Huron street. The guy showed me there was a nail in my tire. They told me first that they could patch it, then called me back after I'd left and said it wasn't patchable and I'd need to buy a brand new one. So I did, and a few hours later it was finished and they put it back on my car. Fast forward not even 10 miles down the road to me driving home on the express way at 80 mph when all of a sudden my tire blows. Burning rubber and sparks everywhere. I'm skidding side to side, then the entire middle of my tire flings out into the traffic behind me. I took the tire into my own mechanic after AAA put the donut back on my car. He told me and you can clearly still see in pictures that it wasn't my rim, he said the tire was improperly put on. I went in to get a refund and they weren't even interested in what happened or if everything was okay. It was a traumatic experience that could've been avoided. read more

I chose this location for my new tires mostly because it's easy to walk to from my office. I made my appointment online for the following morning and immediately got a call back asking what tires I prefer, how many I'll need & so on, so Kurt could make sure he had what I needed when I arrived in the morning. He was very friendly & gave me the honest assessment instead of the one that would cost me the most money (i.e. "I would feel comfortable letting you leave with only 2 new tires; your rears are worn unevenly but you have plenty of tread left so they're not unsafe.") I got another call today after dropping my car off saying that they noticed I had a turn signal bulb & a brake light bulb burnt out, and would it be ok if they replaced those while they're already in there working. It saved me a trip to AutoZone & an hour of screwing with it on my own in the cold. I love the attention to detail here that I've been missing @ the dealership. I love these guys. They are honest, competent, and ethical. I have been using them for several years and have always felt really comfortable leaving my car with them. They don't charge me for diagnostics, poking around looking for problems, or little things like brake light repairs (as someone else mentioned). I've never heard of any other mechanic doing that. I've needed a couple of really expensive repairs since I've moved to Ann Arbor and they've been very straight forward and professional about communicating the costs, and reasons for the costs, associated with those. And they've also been honest about what I can probably hold off on or live without; I've never felt that they're trying to scare me into doing something I don't really need. The first time I came here, I was wary of trusting my car to a busy chain location. After dealing with several other independent auto care places and having worked with Firestone Auto Care for all my routine (and some non routine) maintenance for over a year, I can say that, aside from their popularity which can make it difficult to get same day service, these guys are the best auto care shop in Ann Arbor. Now I will always wait for an appointment with them whenever I can. First, the work I've received has been first class. Tire installations, rotations, oil changes, brake work, air filter changes, the list goes on. They almost always have the parts. The one time they didn't have a part (replacement abs brake calipers for my 2008 versa), because they are a Firestone, they were able to get the part overnight and installed it the next morning. I cleaned at least 5 other shops in Ann Arbor and this was faster than any other shop in the city could have turned it around by at least a day. The people themselves are also polite, knowledgeable, and take their time to explain things. Even though I'm an awkward grad student with a Chesapeake Bay license plate and an Michigan M sticker on my trunk, unlike many other shops I've been to in Ann Arbor, the people at this Firestone don't assume that I won't understand my car. They give me detailed, clear, understandable explanations of exactly what's going on and I trust them because of their thorough explanations. They are also clear with when work will be completed and always ask me when I need the vehicle back. The night key drop off option for leaving my vehicle in advance, rather than getting up super early to drop it off, is also incredibly convenient. Additionally, they actually follow the prescribed routine maintenance schedule for my car as issued by the manufacturer. They recommend oil changes and service at the actual intervals they are prescribed for in the manual, rather than trying to sell a bunch of junky service packages I don't want or need. Finally, the costs are more than fair. And oftentimes on their website because they are affiliated with a national chain you can find solid coupons. Bottom line: Thus is the best auto care shop in Ann Arbor. Schedule your appointment at least a couple days in advance to get in. It's worth it. read more

The car service is done timely and efficient. I originally took my car here because it was within walking distance of my apartment near central campus. That is definitely a big plus - so I would suggest this place if you are a student. I have had many services/diagnoses done here, including replacing a battery, new tires, and repairing the compressor. I have been satisfied every time. The worst auto care experience ever. I scheduled a simple tire swap from my winter to summer tires. First, they didn't have it done even close to the time that was promised to me, so I had to Uber to and from work that day. Then, I had to beg them to use the tires I had instead of buying brand new ones when I'm selling the car in two months. Also, the cost for a tire change was more than 2x any other place would have been. Even worse, I realized when I got home that they didn't even put my nearly new winter Blizzaks in the trunk. I had to call and ensure I could pick them up after I got off work. The girl on the phone (named Sam) goes "make sure it's no later than that" when they close at 5... after they tried to steal my tires!! No apologies ever for the infinite inconveniences they gave me. Part of me feels like they may have tried to take advantage of me because I am a young woman, but that doesn't mean I'm stupid. Never again will I take my car to a Firestone. had an appointment for simple patch on rear tire as i had a metal screw in it. woman behind the counter was extremely rude person from the time i walked in for the appointment. as i watched the tech start work, my hood was up and i thought what's going on ? i tried to get the techs attention but he didn't heard me so i went about a foot inside the garage telling him i want no total car inspection or whatever they do. next thing i know she is glaring at me telling me to stay out of the garage ! i allowed her to know i don't want any inspection and she said we do it to all cars. again i said i don't want any inspection. upon paying when it was finally done, she spoke little and offered no thank you ! never will go back to her or the business ! tech guy was fine even though i had to remind him a plastic cap was missing from the job ! look for other work samantha please ! read more

Jerry Weaver (Manager) is very very rude. I came in to check on a new tire for my car and he brushed me off and told me that it would take over a week to get my tires - which was a complete lie. He wouldn't even take 10 seconds to look into the computer to check other area Firestone's for tire availability. Then he had the nerve to tell me that he doesn't honor Road Hazard. He told me i need to go back to the store where i originally bought the tires from to deal with them. Only problem was that I live out of state and was only in town for business. I was heading out of town when I hit a pothole on Interstate 75. Thanks Jerry for making my Firestone experience memorable. I called another Firestone in Ann Arbor and they had the tire. They were able to get me in immediately and my flat tire was changed within the hour. Jerry is a rude old man. If he doesn't enjoy performing his job then he needs to retire. Firestone is too good of a company to have managers / employees like this. I have never been treated so badly ever. I suggest not going to this Firestone. There are 3 in Ann Arbor. The repairs that were completed were done the same day, however I did have to make an appointment 3 business days in advance since they were backed up (this was the case for all the places I called so no negatives here, it'd be worth an extra star if they could get me in earlier). The original person I made the appointment with was very nice and straight forward on the phone. When I walked in I had a laundry list of problems. The person I spoke to inside was also straight forward but I think they got a wrong read on me. For one, I was dressed like I just rolled out of bed because I had dropped someone off at their work, planned on dropping my car off here and getting a rental so I could go home and get ready myself. I think I looked like another poor college student, (I may be poor from college, but I'm no longer a college student :P). So when I read my list of items, several of the items were just side stepped entirely, including the main reason I was there, the A/C not working. Issue: A/C doesn't work when driving under 25 mph Response: Air compressor sounds like it's failing, but that's going to cost a lot of money and it's already August so you should probably wait. (The A/C sputters and is therefore failing?) Issue: Fuse for cooler fan blew out, this happened last summer more frequently but happened for the first time this summer a week ago Response: It's probably fine now (To me the bearing sounded bad on the fan) Issue: Temp and Fuel gauges don't work, I have to use the trip and my MPG to estimate my fuel Response: Just leave it how it is, it's going to cost a lot to fix, we don't have the part, and only the dealer can re-calibrate the gauges. (I found a do it yourself repair for this including the calibration online, but didn't want to do it myself) Issue: I personally removed my fan blower motor since it was really easy to access, but the replacement unit I purchased did not use the same plastic pop-rivets, instead used the factory bolts (but did not come with the bolts). I asked if they had the bolts and could put it back on for me while it was in. Response: We don't have the parts Issue: Brakes sound like a dying goose when I backup, I believe the brake shop I took it to used the wrong pads or didn't calibrate it right, since it never did this before Response: It's probably the material on the pad, sometimes that happens. (This sounds terribly loud though, like louder than when a bus stops and at teeth grinding levels) Fixed issue: ABS, Traction and service lights all triggered, presumably my ABS was disabled too. They had to replace a sensor which cost in the low 200s. So in the end they fixed the issue that was the most noticeable and could have had serious repercussions in the winter. They fixed it the same day too and for not too much. But I wanted to go to a place to get everything taken care of in one fell swoop and hopefully save some money vs. what the dealer would charge since they are notoriously expensive. I will now have to take it to the dealer anyway (or another shop) to have these other issues addressed. I think they should take the "Complete Auto Care" part off the sign, if it instead said "Partial Auto Care" I would have given them 3-4 stars. read more

For the last two years I was in A2, I got all my oil changes and repairs done here because the guys there were friendly and it was convenient enough for me to drop my car off and get back to North Campus while I waited for my car to be worked on. I recommended this place to others because I felt like I was never tricked into getting repairs I didn't need and that they didn't talk to me like I was an idiot. (It does not help I female and only started driving/owning a car six years ago that rarely needed maintenance, thus putting me at the mercy of the mechanic.) I moved back to my hometown a few months ago and took my car to the family mechanic. Turns out a lot of the parts they had swapped out are sub-par! The brakes they put in for my Toyota Camry are for American cars and not what the manufacturer recommended, causing the wear to be uneven. That explained the really bad braking in my CROSS COUNTRY trip from Michigan to California. Moreover, I had gotten my car serviced and asked if I had to get anything tuned up a month prior to my trip and they had told me "no". Turns out my transmission was filthy and the air filter needed replacing (even though I adhered to the manual's tune up schedule and regular oil changes). Perhaps I should have known better, but I asked specifically to help me out because I was not that good with cars. My friend had better luck with Mallec's on Dexter Ave and Jackson, for real repairs. I never tried them for my car, but when I went there I had a feeling they would not short change us and they were a lot cheaper than your average place with a name brand. At the end of the day, I'm just glad my car did not fall apart on our ~3k mile road trip. Oil change is good here, anything more complicated, try else where. read more

Absolutely terrible service. My car broke down over night and I had it sent to them. By noon the next day they had called me 4 times (I was able to answer once) pressuring me to figure out if I was going to spend the $900 to get it fixed or else I had to get it off their property. Within an hour they were calling again threatening to have it towed. The main manager, Jerry, was incredibly rude and I had absolutely no desire to give him any of my money. Turns out it was still $200 cheaper to have it towed to my hometown (46 miles away) and have it repaired there than through Firestone. Overall impatient and terrible customer service that was about $400 overpriced. As a college student away from home who has class and works and can't always be answering my phone, it was a terrible place to have my car and they were not helpful whatsoever. When I went to the shop to meet the tow truck to get the car out of their precious parking lot, Jerry made multiple rude comments to me. Avoid them at all costs, give your money to people that deserve it. I give it two stars only because I was pleasantly surprised to not be charged for the inspection of my car. I'm a new car owner, and this Firestone helped me learn a lesson the hard way. My car stalled, so I used a free tow to this location with my insurance. They looked at the car, found out I needed a new alternator, and said they could fix me up for $650. I asked around and found a cheaper mechanic who could do it for $175. When Firestone called me the next day to ask if I would use their services, I said no (bad idea/lesson learned), and the employee had my car impounded within the hour. I explained that I was at work and could have it towed that night, and he literally laughed at me over the phone. I can now acknowledge my ignorance that it wasn't fair to leave my car in their lot, but this employee had zero sympathy, genuinely seemed to enjoy my suffering, and brought every reality to the scummy car repairman stereotype I'd heard my whole life. Here's the kicker: After FS had my car impounded and I paid the tow fee, I got my car repaired by the cheaper mechanic, and after all costs still saved $300 from Firestone's price. Extremely overpriced and inhumane. I've never had such a bad service experience in my life. It still makes me shudder to think about it. read more

Had the brakes repaired on my 13 year old van in order to get it ready to tow a trailer. Even though the mechanic made a few suggestions, he must have just charged me for them and never done the work because the brake lines burst at one of the first stoplights I hit while towing that trailer. Luckily we hadn't even gotten onto the highway and can only imagine what could have happened. Well now the car is stranded, unsafe and worth nothing (would you pay more than a few hundred for a car without working brakes?). But Firestone Complete Auto Care wont cover the towing costs to get it to the shop for "repair" or even reimburse for neglectful work. I can always count on Jerry or Marco to give me a good, honest assessment of what repair my OLD car needs and if I should bother fixing or can just let it go.
