Oil on rag in HEB parking lot
    Mateo C.

I got a call from the Firestone "claims specialist" today. He was no help. All he did was reiterate the claim of the tech that did the work, "Jiffy Lube cross-threaded the drain plug at my last oil change and that's where the leak came from." I told him I completely understand how it's possible for the damage to have been pre-existing and it didn't leak until now, but due to Firestone not following proper procedure and notifying me as soon as they found the drain plug damage, and instead performing a full oil change before telling me, that I have no other choice but to assume they did it--that they cross-threaded it when putting it back in after draining the oil and then tried to correct it.

The oil I paid for Firestone to put in my car

I took in my car (low mileage and 2 years old) to get an oil change at this location. After a week of driving oil started leaking all over and almost wrecked my engine. Turned out the guys that work here didn't tighten the oil filter and over time it became more loose. I spent $100+ at this place for these amateurs to almost destroy my car and cost me thousands of dollars. Protect your savings account. Don't go here EVER.

My friends changing my tire at the dog park last night! I have good friends!
    Dawn S.

I had one heck of a day yesterday. I had to cancel my vacation to Cape Cod and Maine due to some Covid related issues with my traveling partners. I was sad all day and didn't leave the couch. When I finally left the couch and went to the dog park...a friend parked behind me and noticed my tire was flat. I just wanted to drive it home and deal with it later but he wasn't having it. He and another friend put on the donut. Long story long, I made an appt (for a Sunday) at Firestone. The one closest to my house was booked so I went to the one on Ben White. The guy I talked to Daniel was pleasant and respectful. I had made an appt online and then told me that it wasn't verified. He said they usually call and confirm appt. I'm confused...then what is the online appt scheduler for??? He said he could fit me in which was nice. My (online) appt was for 2. My car finally went back around 2:30. To my dismay there was a nail in it and not in the green zone (see photo) I had to get a whole new tire. I don't know if they upcharged me or not. They offered me the choice of two tires. I got the more expensive one. It was about 20 bucks more and seemed like a better tire but what do I know?!? The tire was about 196 bucks- which was not a Sunday Funday at all. I'm grateful for a car and the money to buy the tire but it was a pretty annoying way to spend Sunday. I didn't catch the names of the other people I chatted with but they were all very friendly.

I went in without an appointment to get my brakes serviced. The customer service was great and they were able to do the repairs same day.

After their inspection, I approved additional repairs and paid $2,006.64, picking up the car on Nov. 17. Within days, the leak was worse. Instead of one leak, I now had two, along with a strong burning-oil smell while driving. I returned on Nov. 21 and was told it was just leftover oil and that everything had been cleaned. That same evening, I discovered the car was leaking from three different places. I brought the car back again on Dec. 2. After no communication all day, I called and was told they found another leaking gasket and wanted an additional $400. I was also told that "oil leaks are tricky on Volkswagens," but a properly diagnosed repair should not turn one leak into multiple new leaks in a matter of days. At this point, I declined further work. I paid over $2,000 and ended up with a car in worse condition than when I brought it in. I requested a refund in writing and never received a response. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend this shop.

This is a very well organized business so if you're looking to trusting someone with your vehicle, this is the place to be. Sometimes they give you the same day appointments and sometimes they don't, kind of depends on how busy they are. But other than that they treat you with respect and honesty, when they tell you something wrong with your car they really mean it! Even if you research it like I did in the very beginning not knowing these guys but now that I've been with him for a few years I can truly tell you that I trust them one 100 percent. Highly knowledgable I highly recommend Lakeway business with the Austin automotive specialist! Give them a try....happy yelping!

It's a small place but seems quite equipped to manage a lot of car issues, and the gentleman who did my inspection that day (Charlie) was the sole person doing them, so he was cranking through a list of folks. They put your name on the clipboard when you arrive and just go straight down that list. I'd called beforehand to confirm their hours and theyd advised to come early so I came around 9a or so. I think the wait was about 15-20 mins? Really wasn't bad, I just fiddled with my phone and sat in my car. The actual inspection was also pretty fast, like 10 mins or maybe even a bit less. I appreciated the efficiency. Of note they do charge a 3% credit card fee. A lot of places do that nowadays, but that was really the only "surprise." They also offer a basic inspection ($12, basics to renew car reg) or a more thorough one for $18 where they check your wipers and lights etc.

Every once in a while, Austin reminds you why you fell in love with it in the first place--and…read moresurprisingly, this time it happened during an oil change. Let's be real: getting your oil changed usually ranks somewhere between "waiting at the DMV" and "realizing you forgot your charger at home." But Lube Pit Stop on South Lamar managed to turn it into the best oil change experience I've ever had in this city. And I don't say that lightly. From the moment I pulled in, the vibe was pure old-school Austin--friendly, unpretentious, and refreshingly human. No corporate script. No forced smiles. Just genuinely kind, courteous folks who seem to actually care about the people driving through their bays. Here's what really stood out: No upselling. None. Zero. Zilch. No "while we're at it..." scare tactics. No mystery fluids that suddenly must be replaced. Just honest work, clearly explained. Quick and efficient. I barely had time to scroll Yelp before they were done. In and out without feeling rushed or overlooked--an impressive balance. Kindness across the board. The entire team was polite, professional, and approachable in a way that feels increasingly rare. It wasn't flashy--it was sincere. And here's the kicker: when I drove away, I felt good. No second-guessing. No lingering "did I just get taken?" anxiety. Just the calm confidence that comes from dealing with people who do their job well and don't try to squeeze every extra dollar out of you. They also do state inspections, which is officially the cherry on top. One stop, no nonsense, handled by people you trust? That's a win in Austin traffic math. This is the kind of local business you root for. The kind you tell your friends about. The kind that quietly becomes your place without you even realizing it. Lube Pit Stop is officially who I'll be using from now on--and honestly, I hope they never change a thing. Highly recommend. Old Austin energy. Solid service. Zero BS.
