These people kept my car for five days straight and each day I went up there asking if the car was done or if there were any updates and the answer was always no or "Itll be done tomorrow". At the end of the 5 days they STILL didn't have an answer as to what was wrong with my vehicle and I had to pay them anyways. Would not recommend. read more

Aside from all the negative reviews on here, my experience(s) have been wonderful @ Firestone off Ben White. My A/C broke in the middle of the Texas summer (real drag) and I called them up for an appointment and had my car ready sooner than expected. They even rebooted my car system/computer for free. They really exceeded my expectations with the A/C job. I have also gone for oil changes here and have had my vehicle done in less than 20 mins (during the weekend !) Special shout out to Dave, Andrew and the tech, Phil for working on my car and exceeding my expectations, you guys are very friendly. 10/10 experience, I would recommend them to anybody who lives in the area to check them out. I HAD THE WORST EXPERIENCE HERE! I am a Firestone customer, I have been in both south congress and clock tower drive auto shops and I had nothing but exceptional service. I came to this location referred by south congress for A/C compressor work, I was greeted by Ben at the desk, I explained the reason I was there and he said will look at the issue and give me a call with the findings. He eventually called me and let me know the A/C had a leaking tube that needed to be fixed, recharge with Freon and one fan was not working $500 cost. I asked if fixing the leak and recharging will be sufficient and Ben said yes and agreed to complete the job. I later came back to the shop to see if I needed to leave my car overnight and Ben told me that the car was ready (which seemed very strange as the car looked like was never moved from the parking space), he charged me $236 and gave me the keys. I started the car and the A/C was hot. After 10 minutes I came back inside and told Ben the A/C is not cooling, he then told me that I needed to take it for a spin and the it will work then. I went around the block to see if this was true and the A/C never cooled. I went back into the office and I told Ben that my A/C was not working, his reply was "I don't have anyone to see it now, I can see if someone can look at it tomorrow or Monday"with bad attitude and trying to get rid of me, I gave him back the keys. On Sunday he never called me until I called the shop, when he answered said that because I went to drive the car around the block the A/C was now broken/burned and the repair was going to be over a $1,000. He seemed to have a personal problem with me so I came into the shop and spoke to Will the store manager. Me and my friend explained what happened and told him that I needed a refund and take my car somewhere else. I expressed how disappointed I was to have come to his shop, Ben was there and started arguing with me. Will apologized for the situation and asked if he could take over and leave the vehicle for another day until Monday and he will give me a call with a better resolution. Will never called me, we had to contact him and Ben said he already left. Four days without my car and no resolution. I went to the shop on Tuesday to get my car with a broken A/C, Will was not there and someone else gave me back my keys and refunded my money . Firestone, I cannot believe that this is the way your staff treats your customers, at this point I have a great doubt if they in fact did something to my A/C and trust is everything. I had accidentally ran over a tire in the road a couple days before I stopped by this location. My car was making a horrible noise and I was on my way to San Antonio and couldn't continue driving my car because the noise was so bad. I happened to see this location and stopped by to see if they could help. They were able to get my car looked at right away and fixed the problem in less than an hour for no charge too. I was extremely grateful at how helpful and fast they were and was able to get back on the road in no time. I highly recommend this location and will not hesitate to visit them again for any future car maintenance or repairs. read more

I'm super frustrated with this location, and I'm generally not a fan of corporate mechanics anyway. But I'm moving soon and I figured if there was a problem with the work done, I could take it to a Firestone locally. That having been said, I got an estimate for replacement of my front brakes from Alton, and I also got an estimate to have the rotors replaced if it was necessary, and he advised they would let me know if that was necessary after they completed the brake inspection. When I actually came in for the appointment, I reminded them to give me a call after the inspection to let me know what shape the rotors were in. Chris told me that it basically wouldn't matter because they would resurface them as part of the brake job anyway. This was super concerning to me because BMW definitely does not recommend resurfacing the rotors. You can slap a new brake pad and that's it, and if the rotors are not an ideal shape, they simply get replaced. Not resurfaced! Chris admitted that he knows most European cars don't recommend it, but said they do it anyway and that Firestone absolutely refuses to simply replace brake pads without resurfacing the rotors. He said they can either resurface the rotors or replace them, and I asked again why they would resurface rotors in a car who is manufacturer does not recommend doing that. I also asked why this wasn't explained when I got the estimate because nowhere on the estimate for the brake pads didn't say anything about resurfacing. Both questions he simply shrugged their shoulders and smiled at which time I advise that I would be canceling my appointment and taking my vehicle elsewhere. I don't feel comfortable with my car having work done that is it recommended by the manufacturer and that isn't explained to me ahead of time. I totally understand if that's the policy, but I recommend telling customers ahead of time that you'll be performing maintenance that's not recommended. read more

This is now my to go place for my car needs. (Will) the manager took great care of me. I had a bad experience down the street at Midas, they were saying I needed new brakes, shocks and tires. ($3,270)!!! That they wouldn't do my alignment without replacing those things. Will and his crew at Firestone were Honest and gave me a great deal. I ended up purchasing new tires from them and a lifetime warranty for alignments. My brakes and shocks did not need to be replaced but when that time comes, I'm going to Firestone!!! Do yourself a huge favor and ignore the 2 star avg rating on this store - like I did. Call ahead to make an appt and ask for Chico. He is upbeat, genuine, and extremely helpful. He helped me out with some coupons he had on hand and even gave me some solid advice regarding an issue with my Goodyear tires which did not involve any kind of sales pitch for Firestone - except to say that if Goodyear tries to overcharge me for the service, to call him back and he will beat their price. I will absolutely return to this location for auto advice and services from Chico in the future! Also- the waiting area is clean, air conditioned, and TV, water, and coffee all provided. Avoid here if you can. Discount Tire just across the lot; hands down 10x better. Only came here because these tires had "warranty" that my family bought. 1. First, Firestone tires' "warranty" is garbage. Even patching up the most basic flat will cost your $20 because they need ro recalibrate the tire pressure sensor and that's not included. 2. God forbid the leak is deemed "not patchable" by them. You will need to pay for a brand new tire at cost, and another $25 "warranty" for them to even consider prorating partial cost of the the old tire. I never had to deal with this at Discount Tires. If you had warranty on a flat at DT, they will just repair or replace it at no additional cost. Essentially at firestone here you have to pay for warranty twice per tire for it to be REMOTELY useful. 3. Came in at 3pm, they quoted me 3hrs. In the end, they were barely ready for me 4 hrs later and THEY JUST PUT THE NEW TIRE IN THE FRONT (which is dangerous in term of tractions). When I confronted them afterward, here just said "This is the best I can do, you can leave the car here for another day if you want." wtf read more

So I arrived here at 7:15 am, and the guy says they only have one technician available and one car already in the back! How the fuck is this possible within 15 mins of opening your tire shop? I gave up after waiting an hour at the other firestone location to open up at 7am to only find out they supposedly had 8 cars in the back and two technicians!! Screw you guys!!! After my terrible experience with this Firestone on Ben White, I just discovered that my front end brake rotors went completely out at the other Firestone location in Temple! I am truly disappointed in the lack of support that the Ben White location had to offer this morning, because obviously these assholes didn't bother to check my damn brakes!!! This place is extremely hit or miss. I will say that I only come here to patch or replace tires, not for car service of any other kind. If the right Service Manager is working, the service will be efficient. If the wrong Service Manager is working, they will try to sell you other services that you may or may not need, but certainly didn't plan for. Just say no, and take your car to your regular mechanic. read more

Even with the negative reviews I still decided to take my car here out of convenience (Just for an oil change because I had a coupon). I expected the worst, but ended up getting great service. Nothing extra special about the place, but nothing shady either. No one tried to up sell me on anything(although I did have a newer filter). This was about 2 weeks ago. The reason I am leaving this review now is because they actually called me today to make sure I was happy with their service. Must be some sort of damage control they are trying out. I was heading in to Firestone on Ben White for a brake inspection, and called prior to my arrival for a verbal price estimate of an overdue oil change on my 130,000mi car. O.B. answered and could not have been more of a pleasure to speak with. Upon informing him that I would not be getting the oil change at Firestone because I had been offered a much lower price elsewhere, he cheerfully informed me that he had a coupon I could use and ended up giving me a synthetic oil change for less than I could get a regular oil change with a half-price groupon! O.B. scheduled an appointment for me that same afternoon and was my helpful service advisor when I went in to the shop. Sergio Leyva was the technician who performed my services, and there was one other technician in the shop at the time whose name I did not catch. All three treated me with the utmost respect, performed my vehicle maintenance in a timely manner and kept me informed of their findings regarding my brakes throughout the process. After the inspection and oil change were completed, all three employees took the time to chat with me, answer my questions and explain their recommendations for future service. I do need a couple hundred dollars of of work done on my brakes (this has been confirmed elsewhere), and they told me where I could find coupons to get about $45 off of the service, which will help quite a bit. I can not explain enough how refreshing the staff at this location were and how honestly pleasant and painless they made what would have otherwise been a grim experience. I am actually shocked to see the previous reviews since my experience with all three employees was extremely positive. As long as they keep staff like the ones I encountered, this is the only place I, or anyone else I can persuade, will be taking their vehicle for work or routine maintenance. read more

I was looking at buying a used car on Friday after Thanksgiving 2012. A friend of mine who owned a used car lot said that instead of using a used car inspector, I should take it to Firestone. There they would just read the codes from the computer, possibly charge a small fee. I called Firestone, explained to the man what I wanted to do, and before I could finish talking he abruptly said "We don't do used car inspections." I asked if he knew anywhere that would just read the ODB-II codes and give me a report. He said I could try Auto PI, which is the kind of place I did not want to go to. I told him I didn't really want a 120-point inspection, I just wanted the codes read. I asked, "Can't you just read the codes on the car for me?" He was obviously annoyed when he answered, "Yeah, for $79.95 I will!" I said no thanks and hung up. I called AutoZone at Stassney and South 1st and they said, "Sure, bring it by!" I drove there with the car and a guy came out with a device to read the codes. He walked right inside to the computer and printed out everything that popped up. I was handed the paperwork and he said, "Have a great day!" Seriously, how hard was that? read more

I dropped by to get a flat tire repair. I was quoted a price of $25 because I have a tire pressure monitoring system. I think that price is a little ridiculous. They are working for maybe 15 minutes. I don't think their labor is worth $100 and hour for tire work. read more

The oil change appointment was for 10am. The oil change wasn't finished until just before noon. 2 hours for an oil change! Gasp! 2 hours! Worse yet, Firestone incorrectly stated the proper oil is 5-20 weight oil, and that's the oil they put in. Later on a hunch, I contacted the car maker, and discovered Honda specifies a thicker 5-30 weight oil for this 1996 model, and an even thicker 10-30 can be used in summer months when engines run hotter. We're now in May, already experiencing mid 80's temperatures in Texas, and I'm concerned about the results of insufficient engine protection from this incorrect oil in hot weather. I was very specific when asking the Firestone "complete auto care" representative about the correct oil weight for this car, and he gave me the wrong information and the wrong oil. 2 hours to change the oil. Wrong Oil Information. Wrong Oil. From now on, Firestone is wrong for me. I'll NEVER go back to Firestone for anything. Ever. read more

I went here knowing that I had two problems. My left radiator fan was broken and I needed a battery replacement. 5 hours later they call back saying they did not fix my car and they also had $1200 in repairs for a list of things that I knew were perfectly fine with my car (air filter, coolant, belt tensioner). I tell them I cannot afford this and that I would take my car and fix it myself. I picked up my car to find that they charged me a $43 "diagnosis fee"....I knew exactly what was wrong with my car and told them what was wrong with my car. So I don't know why I was charged this fee. I take my car home and review everything they said was wrong with my car and....alas the battery needed to be replaced and the left radiator fan was not working. Now I'm a young woman. So I'm assuming they thought I didn't know anything about cars and decided to take advantage of me. Little did they know that I'm a mechanical engineer and can troubleshoot car problems myself. I highly suggest not going to this place. And if you do go and you are a young woman, educate yourself on your car before you go so they don't take advantage of you. read more

I only give them 1 star because they have been good to me in the past. Things have slid far downhill quickly. A little over a week ago, I brought my 98 Accord in for an oil change and inspection. First off, it took them over 24 hours to get that done. THEN I realized (after driving my car on the highway!!!) that they had neglected to close my hood all the way! And now, barely over a week later, I have a terrible sound coming from my car engine. Coincidence? Maybe... But when I tried to contact Firestone at 0700 this morning (when the website said they were open) no answer on the phone and the shop is dark. I had four run flat tires put on here last year, and everything went very well. The price was much less then the mini cooper dealership and about the same as Costco. These are special order tires and they came in the next day. One of the tires started going flat and they found a tire in their San Antonio location. Since I called early, they were able to get it into the store the same day. I arrived late in the day and had it all done in less then an hour. They even gave me a huge discount as the previous tire was purchased there and still under warranty. The rep was super helpful and am very happy with the service. With so many choices, Customer Service is a HUGE part of the experience. Someone was vandalizing cars in my neighborhood, and punctured/slashed two of my tires. I had it towed to this Firestone (close to my place) on a Monday Morning and spoke to Chico. He was upbeat, super friendly and explained all the steps they were going to take (could they patch the tire, if not find a good value tire that fits my truck, and call with costs before starting any work). He called me maybe an hour later with the solution and it was more affordable than I was anticipating. My car was ready within the day, WOO!! Fast forward to the next day, more vandalizing and two more popped tires (including the brand new ones) WTF. I called Firestone back and Will answered, he remembered me from the first day and sympathized with my problem and said he would do everything they could to help me out and get two new tires ASAP. He kept in constant communication with me and the ETA of the new tires being delivered and that they would work with my schedule to get my car up and running again. Being newer to ATX and not having regular places to go feels overwhelming when something like that happens. After this ordeal and receiving the great customer care from the guys at Firestone, I will definitely be going there first for any car service needs. I believe you get what you pay for, but great customer service is priceless!! read more

DO NOT GO TO THIS LOCATION!!!!! Worst customer service ever! Got an oil change and the bolt wasn't tightened so oil has been leaking in my car. I called and spoke to a manager who mentioned that one of his "best" guys changed my oil. I made an appointment for the next day and take the car and they say there is no appointment and I probably made it at the location, which is not true. I usually do the oil change myself however they already had my vehicle for another repair so I asked them to take care of it. Never again!!!! read more

* BEWARE * - These folks are into providing deceptive practices! I took my car in for a simple oil change. They tried to sell me into buying a new battery and tires. Stating that the battery "tested for low voltage" and the "tread on my tires were not good." I declined, as my vehicle only had approx 15k miles. They did say I would have "issues with starting the car" in the future. Later that day, it turns out my car started displaying warning indicators on the panel regarding my tires. These are warnings that were NOT present before my trip to Firestone, not only that, my vehicle would not start once I got home! They towed it back to the shop to "look into it" just to say they were not liable for it not starting or the warning lights. They manager, David, even called me to tell me they "got my car started" and I could pick it up, just to show up and it still did not start. Needless to say, I had to pay to have it towed to Toyota dealership. Toyota resolved the issue stating it was a "brake switch assembly disconnect". (Now...I wonder how it got "disconnected"...) Toyota also performed their "all points vehicle check" and confirmed that the BATTERY TESTED GREAT AND THERE WAS NO ISSUES WITH MY TIRES OR THE TREAD. - Yes, I have made a complaint with every agency possible, OAG, BBB, FTC, Corporate and have provided documents supporting my claim. These people have no clue and definitely lack the professionalism required in this line of business. Just nothing but deception and fraud. read more

As it turns out, this place has been every bit as good as my shop in Utah. Chico has been really great to work with, and has been very professional to myself and my fiance everytime we have gone in. I have to choose one star, because this is really a serious complaint. I'd rather not, because I've been doing business with these guys for decades, and on the whole they've been pretty good. BUT.... I took my elderly Japanese pickup in because the brakes seemed to be be pulling a little bit. The quote took my breath away; $565! They want to replace both brake calipers, the rotors, brake pads, rear cylinders, rear shoes, and turn the drums. I'd walked past the truck on the way in and looked at the rotors and drums myself; they looked nearly new (but dirty). The report was that the front left caliper was sticking, but they want to replace everything else, and their pricing is set up so that fixing just what's broke isn't much cheaper. I've not done any mechanicking for years. But $600 with tax and all? I went to the auto parts house and got a new caliper for $50, spent 20 minutes putting it in, and the truck stops nice and straight. Not sure what the issue is here. The service writer was very sympathetic with the 'fix what needs fixing' approach, but the mechanic that wrote up the bid apparently needs a to make a car payment or something. If I'd not been knowledgeable enough to realise that they were selling me unnecessary work, I'd have been took. Bad practice, guys. But... Thanks for the motivation! It feels good to know that I can still do a simple repair job. read more

I went to Firestone for the first time ever this week, because I am new to the area and not familiar with the repair shops, and I think it will be my new go-to place. As soon as I walked in I was greeted with a smile and Will jumped right in to help me with what I needed. I told him my problem and he gave his suggestions (with no pressure to do anything else) and got my car in quickly, even though they were packed. When my car wouldn't start after they did the oil change and tire fix we had to make a few calls to another state and shop to figure out a warrantee, Will was perfectly willing to make it happen (all while they were still extremely crowded). I spent a majority of my day here, but never once felt like an inconvenience or like I was in the way/ The customer service here was fantastic and that made the experience so much less stressful. Everyone, from Will to the mechanics were so friendly and willing to help and because of that I will make a trip back here. read more

The gentleman that answered the phone on Sunday evening around 5:30pm, January 28th, 2018, is a complete JERK - and that is me putting it nicely because this is on the web. I called to ask a question about a previous service that was completed on my vehicle. I'm not sure if he had a bad day, or if he felt as though I had no idea what I was talking about because I am a woman. This was the first time that I have ever felt this disrespected by a man. Especially by a man that works in customer service. Some of his comments stated "is it really that bad?! Are you going to have to call 911" and "you said you had a question, I don't need to pull up your information". Both just 2 examples out of multiple rude comments. This was very disappointing to my family and I as we have brought close to 8 vehicles over the last 15 years to Firestone for service. I regret to admit that nobody in my family will be bringing any vehicles back to Firestone for service due to this gentleman. Went to this pace to get new tires for my car and they guy would not touch one of my tires which was bogus. As my future father-in-law is outside looking at the car, the attendant then proceeds to talk bad about him behind his back...to me and my girlfriend!!!! I am thinking WTF!!! I have been here for TWO hours for an oil change and inspection because the inspector at jiffy lube down the street had already left for the day, so They recommended this place. There is only one or two other customer here while I've been waiting. The employees have mostly been "shooting the breeze" with one another for the majority of the time. Ready for this one? Came in and asked for "a set of tires" on my car as it needed new ones badly. Driving down the highway 2 weeks later, one tire literally explodes! Tread peels completely off the tire. I come back to Firestone with what I believe to be a defective tire and guess what? THEY ONLY PUT ON 3 TIRES despite having charged me for 4. Of course they apologized generically and gave me my 4th tire but when I insisted that 4 tires is what I was due then I bought..umm..4 tires, and giving me one more doesn't make up for the danger I was placed in when my old worn tire blew out at 70mph, they wouldn't even budge on a free oil change. Had I gotten hurt this would've been a lawsuit not a yelp review. Now granted, I could have personally checked the actual tires to make sure there were in fact 4 new ones. But given that I asked for "a set of tires", my invoice said 4, and most compellingly I PAID FOR 4, you have to excuse me lack of paranoid distrust. And I know you may be thinking "well, people make mistakes...." but I dont think its too much to ask of a multi-million dollar corporation involved in the maintenance and repair of 3000 pound hunks of metal that barrel down the road at 70mph to be able to distinguish between the numbers 3 and 4. One star doesn't cover the degree of irresponsible lack of professionalism at this place. The bottom line is that Firestone doesn't care about you or your car whatsoever. They just happen to be in the business of fixing cars but to them as a corporation and as individual employees, you're just a means to a monetary end. I went in for a oil change on my 2 cars. On one car I paid for Synthetic oil and I saw them put regular. I started hearing a whistling sound coming from it. Took it to the dealer and they said it was the oil filter. It wasn't installed right and the seal burnt. On my other vehicle the check engine light came on after the oil change. After looking around the engine I noticed that they didn't put the air filter back correctly. I think they intentially screw with your vehicle so you can bring it back so they can do the repairs. Its not that hard to put an oil filter on a vehicle. Especially when its on a lift. Never again.. I'm going with my Nissan dealer from now on. read more

So can you do my car or not? Yes, But we have appointments every hour... Alright. At that time my wife walks in. The lady starts telling me I HAVE to get synthetic.... My wife says. NO! We can't they have been using regular for the past 7 years on the car. (The guy last time said it will be bad if I changed it. Makes sense) She continues to argue with my wife. Trying to up-sale the Oil Change. Finally my wife says look.. Just give us the regular. Also we want to get our free tire rotation that is offered. She says okay. Felt great when she finally agreed with something and said it was okay. I ask her to check my washer fluid, Her response was OH WE DON'T DO THAT. Never have unless you ask for it. REALLY??? Every time we have brought our cars in there they have done it. FOR THE PAST 6 YEARS we have been going in there..... She again starts arguing with me and my wife. Finally my wife walks out... I am standing there staring at this lady... Finally I tell her. Get what I asked done PLEASE. Well I can't promise a time. I said that is fine. I will get it later.... She tells me she closes at 5 and will be done before then.. With that being said... I guess she meant.. .10 TILL FIVE!!!! Because that is when she called me to come pick up her car. I ask if I can come get it now. At 10 till five. She said how fast can you get here... I said in 10-15 minutes. Oh well she was in a hurry.. SO Not only did it take 6 HOURS to do an oil change that usually takes 20 MINUTES TOPS. She did it last thing and I had to wait to get my car this morning... Seems like I could have been doing things with my vehicle like ...I DON'T KNOW.... Go to the grocery store or maybe went and visited friends while I had my only day off of the week to do that. But NOPE I had to wait.. So I guess spending my only day off after a 6 day work week waiting on my car was my plan for that day.... Needless to say. I should have wasted a little more gas to go to the other location that I have been going to before. To get something done... So never again will I be going to the BEN WHITE location....
