But I'm glad I came, big shout out to Mark the inspector on duty at the time who was patient with me getting my proof of insurance from my mom. He was speedy and finished with asking anything else he could do. I asked him to fill my tires up which he did and also inspected one tire for punctures. There is nothing "instant" about this place. Been sitting here for an hour and fifteen minutes to get vehicle inspected. Of course, the car two in front had an oil change AND vehicle inspection, so that was an extra 15-min "instant" oil change on top of the 15-20 minute vehicle inspection. Incredible! If you have stuff to do, make sure you mark out a couple of hours to sit at Valvoline for your 15-20 vehicle inspection. read more

Broke my gas cap when I went in for my annual inspection/oil change and didn't tell me. I found out the next time I went to get gas when my gas cap fell off. Returned to ask them to fix it and they surprisingly acknowledged that they had broken it and agreed to order a new gas cap. However, when the gas cap arrived we found out it was an incorrect size. The Valvoline manager Zachry told us they would order the correct size, and to come back another week later. We did, and this time were told that they were "still looking" for the right size gas cap, and to come back in another week. (At this point, I've had a broken gas cap for a month). We officially gave up then and just drove to AutoZone, bought a gas cap, and fixed it ourselves. Overall, this was the most disappointing interaction I've ever had with a car service company. I would not trust this Valvoline with your vehicle, unless you're okay with finding a surprise broken part later, being strung along as if they're going to fix it without refunding you or anything, and then ultimately giving up and fixing the issue yourself. read more

Wow what a disappointment. I have had good luck with valvoline oil change locations in the past but I will now never go back. Went today and what I assume to be a manager turns the screen around of his computer and proceeds with a long winded sales pitch to perform hundreds of other dollars of differential fluid front and back change and several other services but I glazed over at some point and didn't even hear it all. I told him I literally just had my differential fluids changed a few months ago at a Jeep repair place where he asked me if they report to Car Fax as the info wasn't there. Don't know and you shouldn't be asking me was what I thought. I came in for an oil change. After waiting 25 minutes I'm not at all interested in more work being done. But thank you. I proceeded to have a synthetic oil change. The technician brought me the reminder sticker to put on my windshield and it was for 3000 miles. I told him this was synthetic and it should say at least 5000 miles. He said he didn't know that their system defaulted to 3000 miles. I looked it up and it is actually 5500-10000 miles. I asked him to give me a new one with the 7500 miles. He did. I told him this wasn't right that they were deceiving people into coming back too early after a synthetic oil change and it's obvious why. They get more oil changes sooner! He told me the manager said due to liability they have to do 3000 miles. I told him that was BS and they knew it. He didn't really have a reply. I will add I was never rude in my tone. Just standing up to the marking scam. Funny how places like Firestone and the dealership have no problem using the appropriate time span on their reminders for synthetic oil changes. I arrived the morning of July 12, 2025, for an oil change. During service, the technician tested my battery and claimed it was bad, despite it being under two years old with a four-year warranty. I politely declined any battery replacement, saying I'd handle it myself. They also checked my tires and intake filter, and again I declined to purchase a new filter after they showed me it was dirty. After paying, I left the location and turned onto Slaughter heading toward Menchaca. Before reaching the Walgreens on the corner, my car alerted me to a "Secondary Brake Malfunction" and instructed me to pull over. I barely made it to the Walgreens lot before the car shut off. When I tried restarting it, the throttle revved without me touching the pedal and then shut off again, showing the same brake error. I called AAA for a jump, referencing the earlier battery diagnosis. The AAA tech tested the battery and found it was fine, advising I contact Valvoline. A Valvoline employee arrived, confirmed the earlier bad battery reading, but noted the new test showed it was fine. He then used a diagnostic scanner which showed a throttle malfunction. When I asked how that could've happened, he said he didn't know and returned to the shop. I had the car towed to a mechanic at Ralph Ablanedo and 1st St. On July 14th, the mechanic found a broken piece of the air intake resonator had melted onto the exhaust valve, causing the issue. I believe Valvoline is responsible, as they were the only ones who serviced my car for years, and the issue happened minutes after leaving. I filed a claim with Valvoline. The shop and district manager later visited the mechanic. I was told the intake area isn't normally touched, but the same employee who misdiagnosed my battery claimed the plastic piece had been broken beforehand--something never mentioned to me. The manager said camera footage didn't show any wrongdoing and denied responsibility. I expressed doubt, citing no other service history or reason to open the hood myself. I then contacted Valvoline's claims department, asking to escalate the case. They said if the higher-ups didn't think it necessary, I wouldn't hear back. I haven't received any further contact. Meanwhile, I've spent over $1,500 on repairs and am expected to believe the issue had nothing to do with the last person to touch my car minutes before its first-ever malfunction. read more

I can not recommend any services here. If there are no issues then I'm sure you'd be happy with the service but the true measure of a business is how they resolve an issue and this crew is not inclined to take responsibility for their actions. My wife took her car here for an oil change and check up. They told her that her battery had expired and needed immediate replacing; I'm almost certain it had a 2-year-old Duralast AGM Platnum with a 3-year warranty. Mind you, there was no symptoms of a bad battery. Fast forward two days and I'm driving across town to help her because her car is Dead, no lights or anything. I get there and it's immediately clear that this is A. the wrong sized battery and B. A used or reconditioned battery. The terminals are worn, dull and oxidized. They also made no efforts to clean or prep the cable connections. After I replace the battery with the correct size and resolve the issue I call them. I ask the first guy to connect me to a manager and he insists that first I tell him what my issue is. Then he proceeds to argue, insisting that I'm wrong, that they never install used batteries and they only install the correct OEM designated size. So yeah I lit him up and demanded the manager, so he hung up. I call back get a pleasant and helpful woman on the phone and she gets me the manager, no hassles. He proceeds to tell me that I need to return the car with the battery installed. AS IF. And that before they can do anything to resolve the issue they have to complete a full investigation. It's not Watergate. I Just tell me not to sweat it and you'll sort it out. Don't tell me that you can't fix the problem unless you can determine I'm not a liar. There's nothing like spending 20 years working on cars and bikes to have a cashier at a lube shop tell you that you're wrong. In the very least the staff here need customer service training. Yeah I wasn't nice about it, but if I hadn't received push back the moment I got them on the line it never would have gone that far. A chargeback to my card is imminent. read more

Tried to get the last State Inspection for my Honda on Monday. Serviceman came to the car and I asked for a State Auto Inspection. He rudely snapped at me that they no longer do state inspections and walked away. When I attempted to ask him where another inspection station might be, he didn't respond and continued to walk away. CORRECT response to a potential customer should be "Sorry, we no longer do auto inspections, but we would appreciate your business next time you need an oil change or other auto maintenance services. Thank You, please come back." This place does not deserve your business and I won't be going back. read more

My complaint is that they didn't top off my windshield wiper fluid although I said I needed it(it's low) and although the paperwork said they checked it and it was ok. So now I know I won't be going back. Because if I can't even trust you to do a simple windshield wiper fluid check, then I'm not going to trust you with the bigger more important things. Let me start by saying I have always been a fan of Valvoline and have recommended them to friends and family. I will never recommend them again. I went in Wednesday for a full-synthetic oil change. My power steering fluid has been low (I know nothing about cars, but my husband know a little, and he told me it sounded low). I asked Valvoline to top-off the power steering fluid, they said they could not because I had a "closed -system". I thanked them for checking and proceeded to get the oil change. The next morning I woke up to large oil spots all over our driveway. We own rather than rent, so as a homer the damage to the drive-way was upsetting, but I didn't blame Valvoline for it. I took my car back to Valvoline and asked them to check for a leak. They said there was not a leak, but my power-steering fluid was almost empty, and maybe I needed a new hose. I drove home. When I got home I told my husband what they said. He popped the hood and guess what...a place to fill-up power steering fluid. Right in the open...easy to see. We then called our mechanic he was shocked they would say that it is a "closed system". He was even angry on my behalf they let me just drive off like that without putting any fluid in or warning me about the extreme damage driving without fluid can cause (Again, I admittedly don't know anything about cars). Really frustrated and disappointed with their lack of knowledge. Additionally, it has been a full day now since I put power steering fluid in and my car has not leaked again...I now feel that the damage to the driveway is in fact oil from the oil change. I use this Valvoine location whenever possible. My last visit a few days ago, was the better than previous visits, which I did not think was possible. Anytime I've been to this location, the wait can be the same as industry standards, but often faster. The crew clearly performs the services offered. The service is exceptional because the crew performs and maintains CONSISTENT service. On this particular day, I was exhausted from conducting business around town. Once the crew member reset my service lights, I felt like I was given concierge service because at times service crews in the industry are inconsistent on this task. I am a repeat customer when services are satisfactory, efficient, have appropriate customer service, and when the value of service is reasonable. read more

Took my car for an oil change and they did not put the oil plug in correctly. Oil plug fell out 3 weeks after the oil change and I had to take my car to the dealership. Valvoline did take responsibility and pay for new oil and plus however refused to pay for a rental car upfront. They expected me to pay for pocket. I didn't have my car for an entire month due to this issue. when it came to needing a new engine, they refused to pay the dealership and said that I need to take my car to their mechanic. Michael the store manager is really nice & explains things well. I've had bad experiences with Jiffy so thought I'd try Valvoline. Right off the bat I was impressed with their friendly staff. There was a lot of communication and team work, and there was even one gentleman checking up on his coworkers and offering them a beverage due to the heat conditions Austin has been facing. Throughout the oil change and car inspection, the same gentleman kept me informed of every step he took as he worked on my vehicle. At the end he shared a short funny story and wished me a good day. I have been a very satisfied customer of Valvoline for years and most recently have been coming to the location here on Bilbrook Road. It was to my 45 minute regret that one of the comanagers informed me that they would not be able to service my 2022 Hyundai Santa Fe with a Service inspection because they're newly appointed manager, Justin Peeke, has strictly enforced that any vehicle that has any type of window tint would not be granted the test. I have never heard of this In my years of getting vehicle inspections with any of my cars. I was even here as recently as earlier this summer for an inspection on my wife's 2021 Hyundai sonata. as we live in Texas, both of our tint jobs were recommended and part of our purchase package at the Hyundai dealership so that informs me that it is standard recommended practice. This makes no sense to me why they would intentionally want to make it difficult for customers. And, they even sincerely recommended for me to go somewhere else, or to have the tint removed. they need to put in very clear statement on the website that they will turn away customers who have any tent on their so that they may also be able to take their business elsewhere. To help others that run into the situation with a new management, I will continue to be posting this in all available Review platforms. read more

If I could rate a 0 I would. Zach was who I spoked with directly at this location and he was terrible. Totally unwilling to take responsibility. They overfilled my oil causing almost $3000 worth of damage in my car. And that was with me catching it very early within a month of their mess up. If I wouldn't have caught it early I would need a new engine completely. They were AWFUL to me when I opened a case through their customer service. The managers manager even flat out refused to speak to me! Definitely do not go here specifically or any Valvoline for that matter because they employ people who are not qualified or competent. The amazing shop I brought it to (very reputable- caked EuroFed) provided photo proof of diagnostic, overfilled oil, and faulty PCV hose caused by overfilled oil. Zach and his team of clowns were not able to provide any evidence of correctly filled oil other than 'we looked at security footage and we showed you the dipstick'. Not a very viable system to show customers who know nothing about oil levels. 0/10 experience and wanted to make my experience public so no one else has to go through what I experienced. Will be moving forward with legal action because that's clearly the only way to get them to take accountability for their incapable employees severely damaging peoples cars. read more

I had NO appointment and was in and out within 20 minutes (there were 2 cars infront of me) which is pretty good considering i wait 2 hours with an appointment else where. I have used this location for 3 different vehicles for the past 5+ years, for oil changes and tire rotations. Have always had fantastic service! That is until I attempted to get OC and TR yesterday. Pulled up, tech came out asked what I needed today. OC & TR. he looked at my tires and stated they may not be able to do TR because they are oversized ( 35s) but won't know until we get it in there. And walked away ... what? Dumbfounded, I waited until be walked back in front of my vehicle and I got out and inquired as to why ...he said they are oversized we prefer to send them to discount tire... but we won't know until we get it in there. I told him I had had it done there before. He walked away again. WTH Why the hell would I wait for 15-30mins for them to say no we can't , you can either rotate a tire or you can't. Now you are wasting my time. I left and I won't be back. Complete 180 customer service I have ever experienced there. I think the guys name is Dick or Richard or something like that. Now if he had said it's a policy change we don't do oversized tires any more that would have been respectful, but to just say maybe ,maybe not and walk away is just insane. Was told to come back at 9:50am and I'd be able to get in - I asked if I could make an apt because I know they get busy - they said they don't take apts but not to worry just show up at 9:50 and I'd be the first one in. Show up at 9:45 to then be told it'd be a 45 min wait. Absolutely ridiculous. This place is a mess - allow apts, post important info on your website. read more

Very friendly techs but they put the wrong oil in my car even after a conversation about the oil my car takes. 5 miles away after oil change car started sputtering and jerking between gears and the CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. I pulled over immediately and called their number (does not connect to exact location, national customer service line), waited 45 min to get the manager of the location to call me and tell him where I was located. The story is long and painful from here but at the end of the day my car was towed to the dealership so they can figure out what to do. I'm so disappointed and angry.
