This is the first Valvoline where the mechanic actually check fluid levels and had me press on brakes, turn signals and high beams. The New Braunfels location have never done this! In fact I didn't know it was something they did. So I got the oil changed, my air filter was bad so I got a new one, I didn't want to replace it myself which I've done in the in the past I know they charge probably $10 more than if you bought it at AutoZone. But I just didn't want to go through the time doing it myself. I was talking to Austin and letting him know about problems. We talked about cars in general and cars that get high mileage which mine is one of those, 11 years with 255,978 driving a total of 90 miles to work and back Monday through Friday He was really good , he was polite, besides the air filter you really didn't try to upsell me, which I appreciate. I sure like this Valvoline much better than the New Braunfels where I used to go but a little too far for me. Look them up on yelp and there's a couple of coupons. Recently, I came for my inspection and oil change and they counted my "addition to the inspection line" as I was getting my oil changed so it was very quick after getting oil changed until I was ready for inspection. It's a roller coaster of ratings for me with this Valvoline. First I posted a three-star, then a one-star, and now a five-star. Let me explain. I love Valvoline oil change. I wish there was one closer to my house as this one is a 15 to 30 minute drive depending on traffic. But they are the only quick oil change place that I believe does things correctly. This shop specifically I have faith in the staff as I've had bad experiences up in Round Rock. Recently I experienced some pretty unpleasant handling as they don't prioritize cars, they just take them in as they pull into the bays. After posting a bad review and talking to the staff here, they have fixed things and will swap cars. If one bay opens earlier. That's how it should be. Everybody here is super nice and with the coupons you can find online. It's the absolute cheapest place to go for another change that's not Walmart. Sticker shock. $79 for synthetic blend oil change. Yikes. Good in a pinch, I guess. If you don't feel like changing your own oil or you can't and have beaucoup bank, knock yourself out; have at it. Service is speedy and out in 20 mins or less. Crew is polite, friendly and work hard. I just cringed when I heard them tighten the oil plan bolt with a drill til the drill made that sound where it can't tighten anymore, ra-tat-tat-tat-tat-tat. I could not have asked for a better experience! The staff was very friendly, immediately greeted me and gave me a timeframe for waiting and for the service. I waited about 15 minutes to pull into the bay, then about 20 minutes for oil change. The staff was very knowledgeable and worked together as a team and efficiently, educating me on each step and what they were doing. Also asked permission for multiple steps, checked my filters (which I did end up replacing). I got the full synthetic oil, they also aired up all my tires and refilled my washer fluid, as well as reset all of my maintenance alerts. I brought in my 2018 Ford Mustang ecoboost in to get an oil change on June 17th, 2025. The tech did not drain the old oil out of my car and overfilled my oil by adding oil into the vehicle. This led to over $4000 of damages. The oil leaked into my catalytic converter and fouled out my spark plugs. I put in a claim and to this day I have not been reimbursed for the damages they caused. They tried to force me to drive my car into their shop so they could be the ones in control of what work got done and I refused. They can't even do a basic routine maintenance job without messing it up. Why would I think they could do a repair when they are not a repair shop. I would not suggest this place to anyone. Not only do they do bad work but they also refuse to take ownership over their responsibility when they don't do the right think. Don't walk run from this terrible place. read more

I visited this Valvoline station this past Saturday (05/04/25) late afternoon and had a very pleasant experience. I came in for a standard full synthetic oil change and a radiator flush. My engine light was on and with the help of Dominque and the assistant manager on staff, were able to help me it off with a battery replug. They are also so polite, actually listen to your concerns and offer helpful solutions to car issues even if they can't work on a certain issue here. couldn't recommend more especially if you are a person who's anxious about going to the mechanics. While the staff was very friendly, the services seemed pricey considering the speed and convenience didn't meet my expectation. The oil change took at least half an hour which I was expecting 15-20 minutes considering there was only two other cars in the shop and they had at least two staff on each car. The bigger issue is that they forgot to fasten all the bolts for the skid plate, so it scrapes the road when there's any kind of a dip. Now I have to acquire some and install them myself. I was hoping to find an easier and more convenient place for oil changes, but will likely stay with my mechanic to mitigate potential issues down the road. read more

I always make sure to get the fully synthetic Valvoline oil. It seems like they've had some pretty decent turnover on the staff like most places. I'm sure they have a hard time finding good help but there used to be a lot of older mechanics that worked here and really knew their stuff. The guys they have here now are hardworking and attentive but I don't get the impression they've had a lot of time in the automotive industry. All the guys that are working here seem to be teenagers or in their early twenties. They do a good job and if you're trying to get a quick oil change it's better than jiffy lube. I just sat in line for an hour only to pull in and be told my vehicle was too new and they didn't have the info needed to perform the service on my vehicle. My vehicle is in the 3rd year of production and unchanged. After that long of a wait I should be able to authorize with a signature what happens to my vehicle. In the future I'll be going back to a traditional check in at the desk type business. Even if another place refused to service my car, I would know in 5 minutes instead of an hour. ZERO STARS. 8 days after receiving an oil change here, my battery became completely corroded and both the battery and positive terminal had to be replaced. Mechanic sprayed a cleaner on the terminals to apparently clean them but never mentioned any corrosion and then marked OK for the battery check. Battery died while driving and caused Low Break Pressure emergency error code to be displayed and car had to be towed to service station for repairs. I filed a claim with Valvoline but it was denied because Manager Frederick said my battery had corrosion on it when I brought it in. (I will be contacting him again soon to see this video evidence for myself) If so, why wasn't this brought to my attention so I could have made appropriate repairs and have the battery replaced? Was told I can file a claim in small claims court. Save yourself any future problems and take your vehicle anywhere else but here. They took off the bolts to hold up the plate guard & never put them back. When we came back they said that they would get to us after the long line of cars. Are you kidding?! I paid & you messed up my car, you better rethink that. The manager came out & used zip ties to hold it up. So they lost my bolts, because clearly I didn't drive up there with the plate hanging down lol. I went in for a oil change but realized my car's cabin air filter was way overdue! The car is a 2011 Nissan Murano and it was quite a tedious task to pull off the entire glove compartment piece in order to access the filter. It had about 11 unusual screws. The air filter change was a pain in the neck, as I was in the car watching (due to COVID). Leon and his team were very patient and went above and beyond. They looked up a video tutorial on YouTube to help them out. They were professional and very customer service oriented. Leon even offered me a small discount because the job took so long (which had nothing to do with their abilities).
