It has been almost two months now I've been visiting the Manhattan branch to have an alignment on my truck. The first three visits I simply returned within 50 miles due to misalignment. I live 20 miles away from the store. Each time I was told it was fixed and safe. The fourth visit I started asking questions. They told me they tightened them down as much as their tech could, but could not provide me the torque spec that he was capable of. I have been back 15 times now, my upper control arm mounts are damaged, my camber bolts and bushings are damaged, and the 1000 miles of UN aligned driving on brand new tires during this whole ordeal. Just look at the reviews of this store and their abilities. Their management team in Manhattan is nothing more than a foul mouth bully. Currently moving across the country with kids and animals when our car started misfiring pretty bad. Advice-- just because it's the closest doesn't mean it's good.. We got an appointment for 11AM today. Went in at 10:30 to double check everything (appointment time, what is wrong). I went back at 10:55 to ask if we were getting checked out and dude ended up saying that it'll be another TWO HOURS before the car will even move into a bay and another 3 before it'll even get diagnosed and fixed. I was very nice to the man working inside. But after asking how long it'll be and how emergent of a situation we are in, he began to talk down to me and was a bit rude. Come back around 9:00 latest. I need brake pads replaced, lights replaced, and tires. No worries. Do it. I know that's why I made an appointment originally but sure. Brake parts are an hour away. 11:00. Waiting on brake pads still. Tires done. 2:35 person at the counter says still waiting on brake pads. So I ask about the pads that were delivered 15 minutes ago. Oops. That's them. 3:00 car pulls around. I see same light burnt out. I ask if it was done. Nope. I say well that was one of the things I asked get done. But at this point I just want to go. Took my Audi in for a service and check up since there is no Audi within 2 hours. Not only did they not tighten my car properly, we found out the morning we were supposed to go to KCI for a flight. Almost missing it, they offered to pay to have my car towed (which they should since they messed up). I get back from my business trip, pick up my car, open my trunk to put my groceries in and my entire trunk is a MESS!!!! I know you're annoyed you have to fix my car and pay for a tow truck but have some respect and do the job right! Put things back the way they were. If you weren't rushing and just flying through the motions you wouldn't mess a routine inspection and oil change up and you would have better customer satisfaction. Watch out for the upsell and unneeded services referenced in other reviews. I went in for rear brake noise and was told front brake rotors had grooves and had to be replaced also. I knew a head light was out when I took vehicle in, but the "inspection" showed headlights were ok. Hard to trust their inspection. I will probably go in tomorrow and ask for the rotors to take them to an independent mechanic for their opinion. I'm sure they will be unavailable. read more

Ok. Looong story short. Was traveling cross country. Car broke down -trying to start but just won't .was in Salinas ks. On Sunday morning - holiday weekend. AAA says only place open is 68 miles away in Manhattan ks. We call and they're open and will Fit us in. I am what is known as " over the barrel ". They could have told me anything and I'd have had to pay it. I'm not a mechanic. I'm 1600 miles from home. I was stuck. Thank God AAA sent us to you guys. Y'all were beyond polite and very courteous to us. We took mr Alex Boswell's advice and had a quick lunch at the bbq joint behind the Firestone. Came back in and Mr. Boswell tells me I'm ready to go -cars fixed. I'm praying it's gonna be under $500. With my luck expecting $1000. I am rarely flabbergasted ( look it up millennials ) but mr Boswell did it. The cost was $0.00. Yeah. Nothing. Repair was done as a courtesy. ( bad fuse to fuel pump ) and also replaced my burned out tag light. I am serious. They had me and true to the sign in their lobby - " honesty is the best policy " they didn't take advantage. I'm not sure I'd have had the same experience anywhere else. I am a firestone fan for life and will be using my local one for future repairs and tires. Thanks for the great experience. I scheduled my vehicle to have the oil changed and the radiator flushed. It was scheduled for a Friday but because a mechanic was out sick they asked me to bring it in Monday morning. I read reviews here after it was scheduled and decided it was better to wait till monday as I had to travel over 300 miles over the weekend with a van filled with inventory. After it was completed I returned home to find the reservoir filled to the brim (3" above max) and the coolant still had foreign debris in the system. Any person can read a "max" line on a reservoir, but a Firestone "mechanic" can't. Called and did not receive any apology but was given the opportunity to come back and they would drain some off. The system needs to be flushed again and a competent mechanic fill it to the proper level. Given the heat during the trip it no doubt would've overheated and created leaks, cracks and damage the coolant system. Believe what you read on yelp and move on to the next shop! read more

I got an oil change on my Toyota Rav 4 a few months ago and, after waiting for about two hours, they finally finished. My car drove fine for a few days until I started getting some strange engine noises followed by an engine oil pressure low light. I immediately drove my car to the Toyota dealership and they found that Firestone had failed to replace the oil filter drain plug cap and had also left part of a torque wrench attached to the filter. They didn't finish the job and, as a result, nearly ruined my engine. The only reason I'm giving them two stars is because I brought my receipts from the repairs back and the manager promptly acknowledged their mistake, apologized profusely, and refunded my money. That said, I will never take my car to any Firestone location again. Pay a little more, go to a reputable dealership, and have your work done right the first time. read more

Went in to get 4 new tires. I called ahead to get a quote and ensure they had the tires I wanted. I spoke with Sheldon and he was very knowledgeable. He managed to get me in same day for service. I left my car for a couple hours and received a call from Nicole; she stated that my car was ready for pickup and wanted to discuss a couple findings. Which were in fact valid and I appreciated the feedback. Sheldon and Nicole's professionalism and attitude towards me was above and beyond! I just needed the most basic oil change. I scheduled online for an appointment and when I showed up I was told they actually couldn't get me in because the website wasn't "synced up" with the store. I figured whatever, it happens, and made an appointment in the store. I dropped my car off at 4 and was told it would take 2 hours MAX - they even said it would probably be faster because they were "running ahead". I have a friend drop me off at 6 because it's been 2 hours with no call from them, I walk up and my car hasn't even been moved into the garage. if you want a company that appreciates your time and your money, this isn't it. take your car literally anywhere else. read more

I have given this location several chances, but they consistently give poor customer service, mainly around communication given to their customers. One one occasion, I was left waiting several hours to be contacted when a tire arrived for my car that had been promised. I was told they would call me as soon as it was there. I wasn't. I was left waiting in an ice storm for the phone call with worsening road conditions and a half hour drive back to my home. Other times, I confirm the amount of time they need for particular services. They confirm the time frame, and then when I return they are just then starting the service. They are probably fine if you literally have no life or schedule to run and don't care about terrible service, but I would say to stay away if you do. read more

Rating went from a 5 stars down to 1 and back up to 2 in a matter of 30 min. Went in for an oil change and tire rotation. Told it would take 60-90 min. Took just under 90 min. Asked numerous times if high mileage oil was used (since I paid for it) and were the tire rotated. Confirmed repeatedly. Paid - went to my vehicles - tires NOT rotated (I had marked them before arriving). Went back in, told them, they apologized and I had to wait 30 more min to have them rotated...as they were supposed to be in the first 90 min. Manager did apologize numerous times and ended up comping my oil change. Again, was very apologetic. Realize mistakes happen but when you are told something as simple as a tire rotation has been done and you pay for it, a customer trusts your word. I figured I should write this update to inform the masses that I have confirmed my vehicle did NOT need the additional $1000 in repairs that Firestone Complete Auto Care said I needed. I took my vehicle into another repair shop (to be reviewed shortly) and they replaced what needed to be replaced AND a fan motor for half the cost of what Firestone claimed I needed minus the fan motor. I would not recommend taking your vehicle to this place. My sixth sense that I wasn't getting an honest estimate was correct and I will be sure to tell everybody I know. read more

Worst customer service ever. Made an appointment online and the email I received had stated that someone will call me if there are any issues with the appointment time. Went in for the appointment just to find out, that their A/C Tech doesn't work on the day of my appointment which would've been nice to know, if they called me and let me know of that complication just like the email stated they would. So after that I got rescheduled for a day that the A/C Tech, would be there and I told them everything that I did to try and troubleshoot my A/C before I made the appointment with them and they said ok and that everything was fine. Now fast forward 1 week later, I show up to the rescheduled appointment, just to find out AGAIN that because of the work that I did previously on my own to try and fix my problem, they said they are not gonna be able to work on it because of that. They couldn't have called me cancelling the appointment, instead they had me waste my time and drive over there just to find out I can't have my car fixed by them and I was given a suggestion to find an older shop with a different machine and have them work on my A/C problem. That is poor time and personnel management and also poor communication with me as a customer. Definitely not coming back here again. read more

I've had two experiences with them now and will not go back. The first time was just an oil change. When I checked out they stated all was well. I happened to read the mechanic's report and it indicated my coolant needed service. I called to find out what this was all about and they let me know they do not top off coolant. I asked why I wasn't told it was low on check out and they just made excuses and passed the buck. Needless to say my coolant was VERY low!! Second experience, making an 8 hour trip and thought I'd get look over. When they called they stated I needed spark plugs replace. I indicated this was just completed. He responded by saying needed replaced according to miles. When I pushed further on what this inspection truly entailed he said it was a "look over". They didn't do the alignment check they said they would do. They admitted there was some unusual wear and did the check. Low and behold I needed work done. When they called to report the alignment they had the audacity to offer a lifetime alignment....um not coming back....thanks, but NO THANKS! read more

Had my 2005 Chevy Colorado towed to Firestone in Manhattan for an issue whereby the truck would not start. Initially i thought it has something to do with a pass lock issue. The folks at Firestone told me after they had ran a diagnostic on the truck that it indicated an issue with the fuel module. The module was ordered and replaced and i was informed that the truck was ready for pick up. When I picked it up the truck and drove off I made just outside of the Firestone parking lot and the truck shut itself off. I walked back to Firestone and informed the technician that my truck is not working properly and would not start. The technician went out and was able to start the truck and drive it back to the Firestone parking lot but then shut it self off again. He apologize and told me he would make it right for me. I left the truck there and went home. About a day later Nicole the manager of that Firestone contacted me via phone and told me that she would personally oversee and make sure that my truck got fixed. The truck I was told was taken to a dealership and this time was diagnosed with an fuse box issue. Long story short is this Nicole did keep her word and the truck was properly diagnosed and repaired at the dealership. I picked up my truck a week later as I was out of town and it drives well and I couldn't be happier. This really wasn't a huge inconvenience for me since I have other cars that I can drive. Will I ever take my car to Firestone for mechanical work in the future. Probably not. I will use Firestone for tires and an occasional oil change and leave the mechanical stuff to the dealerships. I was worried about the previous review but took my chances due to the previous reviews. I bought a car that needed tires and a little maintenance. Customer service was great and was greeted upon arrival to the store. I told the representatives that in needed tires and nothing was available that day. However he was able to squeeze me into their schedule with satisfaction guaranteed. After completion, I received a phone call telling me the maintenance was completed and he (representative) explain everything that was completed. He recommended needing an alignment and showed me the results from the test. Overall, great maintenance and the car was in dire need of tires, alignment and running like a champ now. Bought Firestone tires thinking I could use the free rotation and balance service. Took the car in for service and they did NOTHING while I waited around for an hour. My car was exactly the same when I got it, and they did not even take off the wheels or they would have noticed the buildup of dirt from driving on gravel that was causing my problem. I was frankly shocked that Sheldon takes pride in encouraging customers to tarnish the company the name of the company that employs him. I have just read some reviews where Sheldon has been rude and unprofessional to other customers. The owner must maintain the same attitude to accept this behavior judging from the natural response of claiming this is not in the normal. I visited Yelp as recommended by "manager" Sheldon and there were concerning reviews on the quality of work including a review regarding potential damage that may have been caused to an engine due to negligence. I wanted to give an update for a review I made a few weeks ago. My car broke down about a month ago. Firestone charged me $1400 to fix the issue but clearly did not test drive my car because it broke down again as soon as I drove off the lot. After taking it right back, Firestone fixed it again, for free (the least they could do). I did not feel valued or that they gave me an honest estimate. My car was running decent until about 2 days ago when it broke down again, with the same issue I was having when I had originally took it to Firestone. It's unfortunate that they scammed me for my money and I guarantee you that they will do it again to someone else. I would not recommend taking your vehicle to this establishment at all. I was there on May 19,2015 to get new tires on my Camero. I was early but they got me right in and started working on my car. They said that they always do a free alignment with new tires. When they did this they found that I needed an alignment and asked if wanted them to do it and was told it would not take long for they had their best guy on my car at the time. After asking how much and was told the price of a one time or life time I went with life time for I plan to keep my car for sometime. I was told that this job could be 2 to 3 hours, but I was out and on my way home in an hour and 40 mins. I am VERY pleased with their friendly service!!! DON'T GO HERE! Made an appointment online, and when I came in, the man at the front rudely told me that they didn't have anything on record (even though I had a confirmation e-mail). I explained to him that I made the appointment online, and his excuse was that it took 45 minutes to change oil (and said "don't you know that?") and the online system doesn't work with their scheduling system (that sure seems pointless). I said that I could literally show him the e-mail that said I had an appointment, and he sarcastically told me that he didn't doubt that I made an appointment, but it didn't matter. My appointment was for 6:30 and he kept reminding me that they closed at 7 - I'm thinking he just wanted to get out of work early.
