The day after I picked up my car from having the work done, I was hearing a rattling noise and then soon after my muffler was completely disconnected from the rest of the exhaust. This is something that I imagine should have been caught when they did the complete vehicle inspection, which I didn't ask for but they DID charge me for. My 15 year consistently honest mechanic here in Vt took a look at the rotors that were shimmy=ing- had them replaced only a month ago at Firestone-- and said they were junk. Of course Firestone says I must have been riding my brakes to warp them. There is no way to prove otherwise, except that I hadn't had the rotors changed in my car for 15 years....so suddenly I am riding the brake? These guys are very nice and I don't think they meant to rip me off, they are getting ripped off no doubt by the company, probably Chinese, who are selling them rotors and other parts. I'm from ny and I drove to Rhode Island to visit a friend, right before getting to her I drove over a curb and popped both my tires and cracked my rims. I had it towed to this garage & I have to say the manger Joseph was amazing! He was so polite & extremely helpful, one of the employees Franklin (I believe) even walked down the road to get some gas for me bc my car was so low on gas it wouldn't even start. My wife had a flat tire and took her car to Firestone while using the donut. She had a full size spare tire that was taken off the car fairly new with about 10/32" tread left. It was the same brand as the other three. Firestone refused to mount the tire onto the rim. They said the store policy was to never mount used tires, only new tires. I found that bizarre, but she conceded to buy two new tires. They then refused to install two new tires because it was a Subaru and had AWD. So the job went from a $20 mounting, balancing, and disposal to $650 for four new tires. After leaving Firestone, I later called Firestone myself and asked if they would mount and balance some used tires I had. They said yes. I also called Subaru and asked what should be done with new tire installations. Subaru said that all the tires should be within 3/32" of each other. The car would have had two of the existing tires within that range but Firestone still refused to only install two new tires. The next day we went to another local service center and had the spare tire mounted on the rim. It cost $18. I used to like Firestone. However after this experience I am convinced they lied in order to make a bigger sale. After all, four new tires is more profitable than mounting a spare tire. I do not trust them and I think anyone taking professional recommendations from them should assume Firestone is only after sales and will say whatever is takes to make them. read more

Firestone is where I take my car when I need an oil change, some small repairs or new tires. Prices seem about average for a chain auto care facility and service is always pretty friendly and efficient. I have purchased the lifetime tire alignment package and therefor get my tires aligned whenever I stop in for other business (especially needed with all of the post winter potholes). I never particularly feel like I'm being ripped off when I come in and I actually feel like they don't hassle me for unnecessary repairs like some of the other car repair shops tend to do. There is nothing super special about Firestone but I like the people in this location and it is in walking distance to my home or downtown so it is pretty convenient for me. read more

We have always been treated fairly and honestly by this Firestone franchise (more so than others i've worked with). Lately it seems to be getting better with every visit. That said, I don't "enjoy" taking my car there - let's face it, no one 'likes' taking their car in for service; I cringe at the thought. Cars need to be serviced, they can't run forever. Nonetheless, I know and trust the guys at Firestone to take care of me, offer me options, honest estimates, even advise which repairs I can delay and which need more immediate attention. Although I tend to do many simple repairs on my own [for the fun of it?], I've also found that their prices are often pretty darn close to doing it yourself (with a lot less cursing). They often even voluntarily look for a coupon our discount online to save me an extra buck or two. The customer service from top to bottom is top-notch and I always leave with the feeling that my car has been fixed right and at the best possible price. What more can you ask from a service place? I have no hesitation recommending them to neighbors, friends and acquaintances. read more

I've taken my car to the Firestone on Main Street for the past five years. The car service is high quality, and the staff are super nice and respectful. They don't make me feel like I'm a female who doesn't know a thing about cars (even though that's true). Their prices are very reasonable. The quotes for the cost have always been either 100% accurate or less than the quoted price. Most importantly, they don't just try to get you spend money for the sake of spending money. Many times when I have asked them if I needed a particular repair, after inspecting the car they informed me that the repair was not needed, which reflects their honesty. The most disturbing part....after paying with a credit card that I never use....my information was stolen. Worst service I have ever encountered. Dropped it off at 1 pm for an alignment. Said it would be done by 4-5. 6 pm rolls around and I drive over after hearing nothing back. They haven't even looked at it. Sat in the parking lot until they pull it into the bay at 6:38. They close at 7 pm. Guy pulls it back out and I'm told they don't have time to do it fully. I have NEVER got online and written a review about anything! So this is my first time and I am choosing to write this review because I was so let down from the service I got at this firestone. I went there for my first time because my brakes sounded very strange. They checked it out and my front brakes were worn down really bad and they gave me a good price to fix them, I also asked them to service the whole car and came back with a few little things. So after all that I was happy. Two weeks later I decided to go get my car inspected by them for my registration. Then they came back with 700 dollars of work that needed to be done!! I was in shock, I complained and argued with them as to how it was possible two weeks later needed this much work and why I was allowed to leave with my car two weeks prior with them telling me my car was all good to go and safe to drive. When now they said legally my car would not pass inspection. I left and got my inspection done elsewhere and I passed with flying colors. So dont go there, they are terrible and will scam you. read more

These guys are crooks. I bought four very good Blizzak winter tires here, choosing them over my regular garage because of the price. First they forgot to look at the size of my tires when I brought my car in, which meant I wasted an entire afternoon. Then, when I had the tires put on they said (inevitably) that I needed an alignment, which wiped out the price difference. The deal includes three years of swapping over winter for summer tires; so when recently I had my old tires put back on for free they said I needed four new summer tires and a brake job, more than a $1000. I balked and went to another garage for a check-up. Not only do I not need any new tires, but without me telling them they noticed that my summer tires had been put back on wrong; plus I do not need a brake job. Steer clear. read more

These guys are literally too stupid to change a tire. I use a local mechanic down the street who sends my car here to do the wheel work and alignments, so I thought I'd cut out the middle man when I wanted new snow tires put on my car. I called to make the appointment and tell them that I would have new tires sent from Tire Rack to replace the old ones. I have a set of dedicated winter wheels for which I lacked the correct lug bolts; my summer wheels have a lug specific to that wheel and will not fit the others. "No problem" , I was told, "this is what we do". I dropped off the car with the winter wheels and saw that my new snow tires had arrived from Tire Rack ready to be installed. All they had to do was take off the summer wheels, put the new tires on the winter wheels and install them on my car. I asked them to save the best two old winter tires to keep for spares, and bag them with the summer wheels and mounted tires. I reminded them about the lugs. Again I was told, "no problem". I had dropped the car at 8:00 am and was told it would likely be done by noon: they would call and let me know. Noon came, no phone call, then 2:00, no phone call, at 4:00 pm I called them and asked if the car would be ready by the end of the day. "It 'll be ready in ten minutes, you can come and pick it up." Great, I thought, even though there was no explanation of why so much longer. When I got there I found my car on a lift with the wheels off, my summer wheels with the summer tires off, everything spread out all over the bay in disarray. One winter wheel was hanging off the rear held by one of the conical bolts meant only for the summer wheels. "These lugs here you got, don"t fit these wheels, and I don't think these wheels will fit your car", the guy says. I reminded him that the wheels do fit but not with those lugs, and that they were told that, then I had to talk to the shop manager, the sales person, and the owner who all told me that they couldn't do it and I should decide what I want to do. Also as they had mounted and balanced the new tires on the wheels they expected to be paid as if they'd installed them. They also without asking "went over" the car and found a few minor things they wanted to do. No thanks, no way. They had tried to put the winter tires on the summer wheels: no go as I could've told them, different size, so now they needed to be mounted and re balanced. I spent the rest of the day calling all over town trying to find the right lugs to no avail. The next morning I had them put the summer tires back on, and put the new snow tires in the trunk; they tossed the old tires without keeping two as I requested. They also scratched two of my alloy wheels, and lost three of my alloy lugs. For all this I paid as if they'd done their job, as well as an alignment I had requested initially but told them to forget when it all went wrong. I didn't get the job done, and suffered damage for which I was not compensated. I wouldn't let them fix a flat on a tricycle. I don't know how they stay in business. Don't go! read more

I never write reviews and I made an account just so I can warn others: DO NOT GO HERE!! This Firestone tries to pull off classic auto repair BS in order to get more money out of customers!! I went in for an RI state required emissions/safety exam for my car registration - this is supposed to cost 55$. I came back after the 'exam' and the employee told me I had to get 3 other things fixed before my car could be passed as safe to drive and then he told me this would cost over 600$!! He made up some story about how my car had a 'strut' that needed to be replaced and that one of my 'hydraulic fluid tanks/containers had exploded and the fluid leaked out' - these were his actual words! And it wasn't just one employee, 2 employees rotated talking to me and they both said I needed these changes or else my car couldn't pass the safety emissions test. I then asked verbatim: "so these are all required for me to past this emissions test?" And the employee replied: "yes, you must have these fixed to pass the exam." I should have recorded this and written their names down but I didn't think to do so at the moment. I then said that I will wait to fix these 'issues.' After that I went a couple blocks down the street to a different auto care shop (BTS Tire & Service) and I had them perform the SAME exact emissions test since Firestone refused to pass my car through the test. Not only did BTS perform the test faster, but they said my car was fine and passed the test easily!! There was no mention of the 'problems' that multiple Firestone employees at this location had told me about. Whoever oversees this Firestone location should be highly skeptical of the workers there, and no customer should ever go here - the employees here will blatantly lie to you to get more money out of people who aren't knowledgable on cars. Other reviewers on Yelp have left similar reviews as this - These Firestone rats are not to be trusted!! This will my LAST time coming here for any service. The employees are rude and condescending. The service is very SLOW and they try to up-charge on everything. I made an appointment for just an oil change and even with the appointment it was over a 1/2 hour before my car was even brought inside. Someone stole all 4 tires / rims off my wife's car, our insurance company (unnamed) was dropping the ball left and right to help, the mgr at Firestone, Dave, ordered the tires/rims before the insurance company issued payment, then, had an employee (in their personal vehicle) drive to my residence, with a jack and the tires/rims, put them on the car so we could drive it to the shop, then did the alignment for us and was 100% on top of everything for us. they were friendly, sympathetic to our situation and went FAR and BEYOND the scope of their jobs to help us out. the definition of customer service. Horrible experience was having some problems with my car needed to be serviced 2007 Nissan Maxima.... so I braught it to Firestone i told them I needed 2 new tires there was a problem with my air conditioning and it was making some screeching noises I asked them to please do whatever you have to do so my car is reliable and will not fail me... ended up getting the new tires and new control arms and ball joints recharged the AC system and replaced the belts..paid 2 thousand dollars!! Got the car back AC was still not working right and car still was making the same screeching noise!! drove it to work 1 day later as I am realizing all of these problems during my commute to Boston then One of the belts burnt off and my car was blowing heavy thick smoke through the air vents into my face car was broken down in Boston not drivable... I called firestone he said he will compensate me for the tow and they will fix it ... then I told them I was stuck in Boston (on my way to work) and he said oh no sorry we can not compensate you for the tow... I had to pay 100$ for a tow to the nearest firestone in Boston and they wanted 750 dollars to fix the car and the people from providence firestone would not help me with any of the ongoing problems that they caused .... do your self a huge favor and don't EVER step foot into a Firestone Auto Shop complete rip off also the manager started to act rude and ignorant just because I was asking for my car to be fixed and reimbursed after they caused all of these problems for me absolutely terrible experience read more

Recently on our way to Providence to attend a Freshman orientation for college, we had a flat tire. We pulled into Firestone and pleaded for our tire to be fixed as we were from out of state and needed to be at the college within the hour. They told us they were "too busy" and that IF they could do it, it would not be for another 3-4 hours. I explained that we recently had gone thru a family tragedy and could they please reconsider.The answer was "NO". They also could not offer any other names of alternates for a tire repair. Their complete lack of caring and indifference for an alternate site rates them no star. Ironically SpeeDee right next door did the whole thing in 10 minutes for $10 and a smile. The tire is still fine and my faith in mankind has been restored. I suggest the guys from Firestone spend their lunch hour across the street to learn customer service and how to smile. read more
