I am revising the below review and adding 1 star as the regional manager did reach out to me after several conversations with the store staff and refunded the cost of the brake work that in my opinion was either unnecessary or previously done poorly by Firestone. He stood by the judgement of the store staff but agreed one shouldn't need new brakes after just 8,000 miles. I appreciate that Firestone made the effort to resolve this issue. Not every place would do that so have to give them credit. I have been coming here for over 6 years and have mostly felt this was an honest shop but the last few visits I have seen a big push to up sell and add on services that I am not sure are always needed. The last straw was when I had my wife go in for an oil change and she came home with over $700 dollars of charges. Once again I am not a mechanic so it's a bit hard to dispute but what seemed odd was that they told her she needed new rear brakes, rotors and a change in brake fluid. She got the additional work done but when I looked at old receipts we had Firestone do all that to all 4 wheels 3 years ago. Although 3 years maybe a while ago we only put 8,000 miles on the car in that time. I can't imagine even with hard driving in 8,000 miles we would need all new brakes on the rear. I called the Manager the next day but he said he was not around the day of the service and passed me off on the guy who sold her all the extra services. He swore that company policy is to recommend new breaks after 2 years or 24,000 miles and the rear breaks were wore down to just 2 and 3mm. I find it very hard to believe that even under the most extreme driving conditions after 8,000 miles and 3 years a garage kept car would need all that brake work. The sales guy kept insisting he doesn't up sell and recommend unnecessary services. I unfortunately have lost confidence in this shop and will likely be looking for a new place. read more

Another Firestone location I would not recommend unless you have money to waste. I scheduled an oil change, and by the time I picked up my car, I was told I also needed brake work and other repairs. On another visit, I brought my car in because the AC was blowing hot air. They recharged the system, but within a few days it was blowing hot air again. It turned out the compressor was bad, so I ended up wasting money on a recharge without the actual problem being diagnosed first. Avoid unless you have no other choice. read more

Had my car towed here and was told it needed a new alternator and a new battery. Since the car was under warranty, I had it towed to the dealership instead. Turns out, the alternator was perfectly fine--it just needed a battery. update: Received an AI message from Firestone Corporate person signed "Lee S." asking for the details and personal information to "look into it" I bought my tires at firestone with the lifetime alignment and free tire rotation. Went to have my tires rotated and manager-Aaron rudely informed me, it's $35 stating they stopped free tire rotation at the beginning of the year 2026. I walked out and went to another Firestone to learn it was a TOTAL LIE!!!! This place should be ashamed of themselves. Just read all the other ratings. THEY ARE TRUE! If you must go to a Firestone, DON'T go to Springfield. Aaron has been consistently rude, unhelpful and needs to be away from customer service. If you check other's ratings you will find there is a consistent problem at this facility and issues with Aaron. All the Firestone replies are a "cut & paste" from Lee S. Very disappointed with my experience at Firestone in Springfield, NJ on 6/20/2025. I went in for an oil change and was told my DieHard Gold battery (installed by them in 4/18/2024) had an acid leak. I was told it was under warranty and I'd only pay $35 for installation. When I went to check out, I was suddenly charged $82.98 due to a "prorated" fee, something that was never mentioned before the work was done. When I questioned it, the person at the counter was rude and dismissive, saying "What do you want me to do, take the battery out?" That's not a real option, it felt like pressure. He gave a fake apology and blamed me for a "misunderstanding," but I was clearly misled. I later confirmed the battery has a 36-month free replacement warranty, and Firestone failed to honor it. Brought in my car for some warranty repairs and maintenance services and when I dropped off the car I let the employee know of the things I needed, which he wrote down so it seemed everything was fine. I was not in a rush to get the car back, but I didn't hear anything from Firestone for about a week. I called approx. 1 week after dropping it off to ask about an update and they said, "Didn't someone call you? It has been done for a day or two." A little annoying as I received no calls and have been waiting, but that's fine. They said the warranty company covered everything, which I thought was strange because they wouldn't normally cover an oil change, which was one of the requested services. I arrived at the Firestone to get the car a few days later and I was given the receipt. I saw that the lifetime wheel balance, the flat repair, the TMPS diagnosis and oil change I requested all were not done or acknowledged on the forms. The employee at the front desk was very polite and apologized for the inconvenience. I don't live very close to this Firestone so I was hoping something could be done same day, at least the oil change. It is difficult for me to drop the car off and swap to a different car, so taking more time to coordinate this would have been a major inconvenience. I asked if a manager is available to discuss. The manager came out and things started amicable, but his demeanor quickly changed as I tried to recount my experience of not being called back and having listed the requested services, to which he said he doesn't care what happened prior. He said I can leave the car with them during this upcoming week, but I've already been without the car for over a week. He offered to take in the car for only the oil change and I tried to ask about the TPMS / flat repair as a quote, but he maintained that since the warranty company is closed on Saturdays, they won't touch anything else, even though I tried to ask for a quote for me to pay it instead since I really can't leave it for more days. From there, the situation escalated. I definitely was upset and this manager did not employ any de-escalation skills. Instead, he began to use vulgar language such as, "I don't give a s***" - mind you, though I was clearly very upset and angry at this point, I used no vulgarities towards him or his colleague. I was appalled by his demeanor, dismissiveness and attitude. Ultimately, there were multiple points of failure here, including the requested services not being properly written up, the lack of a phone call to advise the car is done, and finally, and worst of all, the manager's mishandling of this situation. Honestly, I have been going to various Firestones for years with this car because they are one of the few places that my warranty company works with, and the benefits of lifetime alignment, wheel balancing, etc. as well as other deals are nice. But no amount of savings is worth the combined stress of the last few years because of there always being a problem with Firestone, whether related to the vehicle services or the customer service. For anyone visiting this Firestone, I'm sure their service is fine, especially for maintenance, but if you need to work with their manager on anything serious, be prepared that he is volatile. read more

I made an online reservation yesterday to install four new tires on my 1992 Volvo 240. The "Out The Door Price" was $286.17 and included, among other things, free wheel alignment (see attached). When I got to the shop early for my 12:00 PM appointment I was told it would take at least three hours because of all the cars in front of me. I was told that making an appointment had nothing to do with when my car would be serviced. I was then told the my total cost would be almost $400, including a cost of over a hundred dollars for wheel alignment. When I told the guy that I had gotten a solid price quote from the Firestone website, he told me he "didn't do things online." When I then pressed him, and said that I thought the wheel alignment was included, and that I thought the total was going to be around $250 he just laughed at me. Only after I showed him a saved screenshot of my transaction from my phone did he bring the price down, but not to the amount quoted. He still insisted that it was going to cost around $290, close yes, but again, not the "Out The Door Price" given by his company that he could see right in front of his face. He even said, "Really? You're going to make a big deal over, what...five dollars?", neglecting of course to acknowledge that he had just tried to upsell me a service (for over $100) that should have been already been included in the price. At that point I left, because I didn't want him or his crew to get anywhere near my car. They clearly could not be trusted. I will never, ever again consider giving Firestone my business, and I suggest you do the same. UPDATE: Upon further consideration, and after reading all of the other reviews similar to mine, not just for this location, but other nearby Firestone locations as well, I decided to file a formal complaint against Firestone with the New Jersey Office of the Attorney General, Division of Consumer Affairs, calling out their unethical (read: deceptive) business practices. read more

If I had the flexibility to get the car back I would have taken it somewhere else. Probably one of the worst experiences I've had. I should have known better when I saw the customer in front of me shake her head in disbelief as she was walking away from the "service" desk. I went in and left my car at 9:00am with a parking break problem. They told me it will take them time to figure out what is wrong (but they'll do it), and mentioned they close at 6pm. 4:30pm -- still NO call to at least update me how is it looking. 5:45pm I just had to walk in, to make sure they don't leave without completely forgetting my car (they would have, no doubt). When it was time for me to get off work....my driver side tire was COMPLETELY flat! I was assisted by Mat and Christian, and it COMPLETELY turned my day around! Not only did they find a tire for me at a decent price... (my daughters 3rd birthday is next week and I would be using some of the money I had saved for her birthday on my tire)... They fixed my BROKEN MIRROR for me out the kindness of their hearts! When Mat informed me of the fixed mirror- I was in COMPLETE shock! Their small act of kindness ended my day in the GREATEST way! Another half an hour later, told me my two nut locks and a stud were broken, but they didn't mention anything wrong when getting them off and they claimed it *might be* because Costco tire staff put them on too tight before... Took my car in for a rear hub assembly repair and they fixed it in 2 days, no problem. The price was steep ($500) but I am from out of town and my car had broken down nearby, so I had limited options for where to take it. The issues began when they told me my brakes were "really bad" and quoted me $400 to replace the pads AND rotors. Took my car here as I heard a noise from front wheel. I knew my rear break pads needed replacement,but they tried to sell a replacement for all four tires which was so unnecessary. Actually a rock was stuck in the front rotor which caused the noise. They quoted $1100 in total. I took it to another place who found out it was just the rear breaks that needed replacement. I had saved over $600 just by walking away from here. Stay away from this place if you are not very familiar what's under the hood, you never know what they say is true. Terrible experience. Took car for alignment and tire balancing early In the morning, was not finished till about the the they were closing. I picked up the car to relive the alignment was even worse than when I dropped it off. And tires were never balanced.. Took the car back the following day to have it done properly and it was, but now my car had a huge scratch on the side. I advised the sales advisor and asked to speak to a manager. The "manager" on duty while the head manager was vacationing was very rude and denied fault. I asked him to check his cameras and he said he was too busy and would get back to me. I mentioned calling the police to come write a report and he said he is friends with all the police officers in Springfield and that they wIll take his side.. it has now been several months and still no response or acknowledgement. First I want to say that the staff was pleasant enough. I had all four brake pads and rotors replaced for a cost of $912. I know I needed break work since there was grinding and plenty of other noises and delayed stop times. It seemed like a lot of money but I had no other option at the time. When I went over the itemized bill the next day I saw that the parts used were not the best quality and they were priced way above what the actual cost was at an auto supply store. I had always thought that mechanics got a pretty good discount on parts. Now I see that there was an incredible mark up in order to increase their profit. I can't comment on the installation as the car sounds and stops much better. I just hope that the parts hold up. Not a honest place to have your car worked on. Took my car there to change the head lights, and said I would wait for my car. The first guy said it would be an hour if labor because it would take a solid hour. I asked how about changing both headlights, he said it would be doubled. Later, another guy told me, they will only charge me an additional half hour for labor. And, I got my car back with both lights fixed in 45 min where they charged me for 1.5 hour. Shady business. Had a great experience there this morning. Got a flat tire last night and was hoping to get it patched up and put back on. The team let me know that unfortunately my tire wasn't fixable and what's more, 2 other tires were unsafe to drive on. They gave me a great deal on the tires I needed and fixed my alignment as well, all very quickly to ensure I wasn't late to work. The staff was friendly, knowledgeable and I feel much safer heading into winter now. I also appreciate their early weekday hours! Went in for an oil change and a tire rotation. They tried to sell me new tires(not necessary), new shocks, and a ~700~ dollar brake job. Even for a flush, pads and rotors on all 4 wheels, that's mighty expensive for brakes. I decided to do the job myself instead. The front brake pads weren't even down to the bottom of the wear indicator groove much less the warning chirp spring. The back brake pads looked like new. None of them really needed to be done yet. The worst part is, with such a severe breach of trust, it's impossible to know what is just an upsell and what really needs to be fixed. I would stay away from this place, especially if you're not mechanically inclined. You might walk out with a lot of unnecessary work. read more

I don't think they are trustworthy. I went in twice for a rattling sound. First time they told me a flap was loose but the sound never went away. Second time they told me I need a new tie rod for $400. I took it somewhere else for a second opinion because the tie rod was only a year old and found out it was just a loose bolt, it didn't need to be replaced. I also brought it in once for my check engine light and after charging me $100 to scan it they said they didn't have the part and would call me when it came in. Of course since they already had my $$ they didn't call me but recommended a different procedure instead. Just went to STS Auto across the street for new tires (pot hole) and their first recommendation for tires was half the price charged by Firestone when I got tires last year. Turns out Firestone had sold me the highest speed rated tires last time to get the most $$. Looking elsewhere for car maintenance now. read more

I knew that my auto air conditioning was not cooling properly and there was a $10.00 coupon for a checkup so I brought it in. For the ten dollars they told me that my air conditioning was not working properly. To find out why it would cost over $225.00 to put in leak detection fluid and then come back after I drove for awhile. When I said no to the cost and took my car back, I found that they had removed all of the Freon from the system so it did not work at all. Total rip-off. read more

Very disappointed. I made an appointment for a specific time, but my vehicle wasn't serviced until almost an hour later. They overbooked and didn't tell me that the wait would be that long. (I found out because another customer complained and I overheard what they were saying). In terms of the repair, I told them that I thought it was a simple bracket that had broken off the exhaust system (which happened before). When they returned the vehicle, they told me that the entire underbelly had "rotted out" and that I would need a repair that was $776. I left, brought the car the next day to a local family-owned mechanic, who said that only my muffler needed replacing. I spent less than half Firestone's estimate for a car that now runs perfectly. I cannot believe the attitude with the store manager, Darrio Signorrelli. I called before I went to get a quote on my car, that they have in the system, for a full synthetic oil change and new battery. This guy quotes me 50% higher for the oil change and I explained that I just called and spoke to someone. He said, with an attitude, that he doesn't care who I spoke with and this is the price. I asked how long and he said, with an attitude, 2.5 hours+ and I was just told 1 to 1.5 max. He clearly doesn't give a crap and I told him so and left. Love this place! It's one of the places you walk out of saying "Wow, these guys get it!" when it comes to customer service. They're friendly, accommodating and appreciative of their customers. I've been there for 3 different repairs and every time I walk out smiling, feeling as if every place should be this nice to do business with. By contrast, I've been to Firestone in Livingston and they're snarky, inattentive and just plain annoying. But the guys in Springfield (it's practically inches from the Millburn line, just across the street and down a block from Kings) just GET IT! Kudos to them! read more
