Was visiting the area with a group of friends when we decided to grab a bite to eat here. We had called in advance to ask did they take reservations since we had a larger party, to which they declined and informed us that they took walk ins only. When we showed up to the restaurant to get a table, the energy from the two hostesses on duty was immediately distant and unwelcoming. They kept exchanging looks with one another as though they were confused about our presence. When we asked for a table for a party of six, the ladies stated it would be an hour wait; then out of no where a gentleman who worked there approached the front desk and spoke quietly into one of the hostess' ears and she then informed us it would be a 2 hour wait, according to him. They did not offer us the opportunity to wait on the patio with the other patrons who were waiting for seating or at the bar; they simply stared at us silently (keep in mind we are a diverse group and the restaurant's patrons already in attendance were predominantly white families). Due to the behavior of the staff and the time frame given for the wait, we decided to eat at the restaurant next door. While moving our vehicle to the restaurant next door's lot, we saw a party of 6 get immediately seated (yes, the patrons in this party were all white). Of course we didn't want to jump to conclusions and assume the worst, so not even 30 minutes later we decide to give the restaurant a call. We asked did they have a table for six available and they said they did and they could seat us now. I am disgusted with the behavior of the staff and management at FireWater. As people of color we were discriminated against and looked at as trash. This occurrence was very traumatic for us all as minorities in society. I am disappointed in the manner of conduct this restaurant exercises and with the way our group was treated. Very happy I chose not to spend my money here. Will not be visiting again. read more

Same owner as Ace's run and Brenda's pizza and located beside Ace's run and hotel with boat parking specifically for restaurant patrons. A great location on the water. We went on Saturday at 5:00 and walked right in to bar and got seated immediately. I have been hearing others say they've tried going and it's packed with an hour wait so I guess we got lucky this past weekend. I had a blueberry mule and shrimp roll for dinner which is their take on a lobster roll. It was super good and came with french fries. My husband had a beer with chicken sandwich and FF, plus an app deviled eggs. Total bill $68. Service was excellent and staff was very friendly and made good menu suggestions. I ordered a Long Island Ice Tea that tasted like watered down coke with a splash of lemon (either an untrained bartender made it or the staff is drinking the alcohol and replacing it with water ‍) For dinner I ordered the Farro Bowl with roasted root vegetables which was virtually tasteless. I was very disappointed in our last visit. We went for lunch Wednesday and got the shrimp tacos. The tortilla was not toasted the shrimp had no seasoning on them, were over cooked and there were only 2 per taco. We also got the disco fries and they were very good. Went to this restaurant on Thursday night before Memorial Day. It was a total disaster. It was 1 and 1/2 hours to get an appetizer. We never ordered. Waitress never came back. this place is very good in theory. great view, great drinks, great atmosphere, and some good food. but some of the food and most definitely the service ruined it for me. i had the shrimp tacos and mango slaw. the tacos were fine, they were dry with just shrimp on a tortilla with cabbage and very little sauce. the mango slaw was a JOKE. there were 3 pieces of mango in the entire bowl and the rest was just dry slaw mix you could buy at any grocery store with no form of sauce or dressing. if you're gonna get appetizers, get any of the bao buns because they are good. however, our server Lexi could not remember she was responsible for us, and i understand and everywhere is short handed right now, however when our water glasses were empty and requests for sauce were waiting, she was stood talking. i would recommend sitting at the bar as there seemed to be better service and only get food you have seen a lot of good reviews for because otherwise they are most likely not good. not sure i would go back, seems like for the price you could find much better. read more

The food was delicious and inventive - reminded me of something I'd find in a big city. Waited over an hour to be sat when we finally sat we put in our entire orders right away. We waited over an for our entrees and decided to cancel our orders and leave. The entrees came out right as we were trying to leave and they didn't even look that good. The manager tried to justify the wait by showing us the ticket time on our check and told us the server didn't put it in until a half hour after we had ordered. Ordered the steak and frites, fisherman's stew and the wild mushroom grain bowl. The steak was overly salty but was cooked to perfection. The frites unfortunately got all soggy due to the demi-glaze. It'd be better to serve the fries on the side in my opinion. The fishermen's stew could have used some spices. I would love to give Firewater Kitchen & Bar (FKB) a better rating, as it has many very high notes, but my food was way off tune. This was our first trip to FKB, and we were quite excited about trying it based upon our son's recommendation. The restaurant and bar are gorgeous, with a beautiful setting, located right on Deep Creek Lake (DCL). Our family has been coming to DCL for 50 years, and the closest any restaurant comes to the FKB location is the old Silver Tree Inn, but the FKB is basically right on the water. The architecture could not be more on point, exceedingly well thought out and executed. Stylish and comfortable, a truly awesome venue, worthy of a 5 for experiencing food, beverage, family and friends. What fell significantly short for me was my food. I ordered the set of 3 Bao Buns: one each Shrimp, Pork Belly and Wild Mushroom. The Shrimp bun was just OK, served cold (supposed to be?) and it had no hint of the thai chili purportedly in the aioli. Unfortunately, that was the high point of my meal. The Pork Belly and Wild Mushroom buns had waaaay too much hoisin glaze. In fact, glaze is a gross understatement, both were drowning in it. I did get a glimmer of the Pork Belly taste, which was good, bleeding thru the hoisin, but no where near what it could have been. And, if it weren't for the texture, I'd have had absolutely no idea I was eating mushrooms, with the hoisin again suffocating their flavor. My food rating is 2. It pains me to be this negative of my food, as I had very high hopes for it. And I will come back again to try other menu items, fingers crossed for a better culinary experience. The view and ambiance of the property alone are worth a trip. FKB has tremendous potential to be THE spot on DCL. I trust my critical, but honest review, will nudge it in that direction. read more

I'd consider going to this place to sit and eat, but wouldn't order to go again. The food was good. But they put cheese on the salad that was marked 'no cheese' on their order form, and the instructions said 'dairy allergy'. And on three salads marked 'dressing on the side', no dressing included. This is a beautiful location especially at sunset. The inside of the restaurant is smaller than expected but has a beautiful outdoor area for warmer weather. The food was fresh and unique. The green fried tomatoes with lump crab were phenomenal. The service was great, especially for being newly opened. Honestly atmosphere was fantastic. Beers and cocktails were nice.But after a TERRIBLE experience we will not be back. Waited a half an hour for a table, which is fine, but ordered all of our food and waited over an hour until our frustrations got us to the point of anger. I get slow kitchens, but when multiple tables are seated after you and they receive their food before you, I am calling BS! When our frustrations made us want to speak to the manager, she met us with a ticket and an order time that did not match ours. She tried to tell us that our order only took 35 minutes which it did from the time the waitress put the order in, but not from when we ordered he food. So when we told them we were ready to leave and did to want our food anymore, the manager tired to force us to pay for it. And after we told her we did not want the food anymore, the food magically came out. My fried chicken had a film over it like it was sitting under a heat lamp. Which it either sat under a heat lamp or the item must always look inedible. Legit the confrontation resulted in us just leaving cash at the hostess station to cover our drinks and then we stormed out. Terrible service and the management is clearly inexperience to the point where the business will surly suffer in the future. And the chairs outside were uncomfortable. read more
