Crab dip and Gouda spinach dip with pretzel bites

Very cute spot! Came here on a Sunday afternoon where it was getting crowded but not quite full yet. They asked if we could wait 15mins so servers could catch up and of course we were glad to do that. They have a cafe at the front that we were able to wait at and order coffee from. They then came and brought us to our seats. Very nice servers! By the time we left, the place was packed! Food was yummy, a little disappointed because they brought our appetizers and entrees at the same time. So I felt like we were a little rushed to finish the app first since both were some kind of dip that would be best served warm.

Food and service was fantastic. The beer selection was good too. The atmosphere is pretty cool too. We went in August 2025 I needed a sweatshirt to wear inside, I was cold lol

We stopped here on a Sunday morning for brunch right when they opened at 10 and were able to get a seat. Service wasn't the most efficient, which is reflected in other reviews as well, but it was kind and friendly. The food was great! It was reasonably priced, tasty, and filling. The Moondog hotdog sounded so good that I was forced to order a hotdog at 10 AM and it delivered. Can't overstate how impressed I was with this hotdog, it was so good. My partner got the biscuits and gravy and the biscuits were clearly homemade and the gravy was well-seasoned. I had never been here before and was surprised that they had live music on Sunday morning. That's probably not for everybody but I enjoyed it. He went on at 11 and we left at 11:15 or so, so in total we spent around 1:15 ... the music helped to distract from the slow service, for sure. I would definitely return here if I was in the area again! TRY THE HOTDOG!

If I could give this place a million stars I would. Accommodating, friendly, incredible service, delicious food, fun vibes, spacious, and just all around amazing. Menu standouts from our group of 11: Smoky lavender margarita Truffle fries Steak flatbread on naan Exceptional all around. A hidden, unexpected gem in Deep Creek. Wish the trip was longer as karaoke night would be PERFECT. 100/10

Cauliflower fried was delicious and the homemade ranch was plate licking good.

So very excited to try new menu and it was clear that the restaurant and crew are still working through its changes. We made reservations for 6, and were seated right on time. We ordered the Buffalo Chix dip with fresh veggies, not a lot of flavor and the Jalapeño poppers with Brie and prosciutto was needing some more flavor. Main course is where issues started to show up. Food arrived and I was still waiting for my silverware, which per another waiter the restaurant ran out of silverware, as we needed to go up to the hostess and request as our server did not comeback to check on our dinner. So my dinner which was cold not warm, obliviously sitting on a counter waiting to be brought out. The entrees we ordered were a bit off, my plate was cold and the mashed potatoes were hard, needed seasoning big time. Oat coated Chicken was dry and need more sauce. We were eating a specific dietary avoiding dairy etc and requested seasonal vegetables instead of other sides, so raw veggies tossed onto a side plate were brought to the table rather than cooked seasonal vegetables per the menu. Overall, our server was not paying attention to our requests and the kitchen did not deliver. Our first visit was when the restaurant was not very busy and the service and food were outstanding. Today, if I went for the first time, I would not return. Overall, meh!

Perhaps it is because I have standards of places from metropolitan areas, but this place did not live up to the other reviews for me. First, we chose to eat outside. It's a nice spot. Spacious. Inside seemed more cramped and sometimes they have live music, which could be a bit too loud. The tables were not wiped. There was a strong layer of pollen (green). We wiped it ourselves. Second, the drinks were just okay. I think it was overpriced and was not worth the price. The food took almost an hour to arrive. We guessed that we came here off season and they do not have the staff manpower to handle large groups of people. So we waited a bit of time for food. Third, the food was a huge disappointment because all of us experienced the same thing. They must have forgot to season their food with salt and pepper. It was pretty tasteless. My sandwich was the vegan choice and the sauce was only mustard. Not only that, the mustard was placed on on the edge of the sandwich like they missed the center and I had to smear it back into the sandwich. The fries definitely forgot salt and seemed over fried. After we ate and paid, we left and just felt unsatisfied. The ambiance seemed cool. The place does seem to get a good bit of traffic. But, for me, it does not seem justified.

Here for lunch with a friend. Funky environment but good food. Has a nice outside area to eat so enjoying the good weather.

Every time we visit Deep Creek, we must stop at MoonShadow. The food is so unique and delicious. Don't skip the appetizers and burgers. They are some of the best. The wait staff is polite and the beverages are perfect. Can't wait to visit again soon!

I was so impressed that this is the only place I've ever stopped mid-meal to start writing a Yelp review! Their phone line was busy so we ordered online for curbside pickup, which was super easy to add items to cart and pay with Apple Pay. Order online and keep their lines clear! We ordered two entrees: a filet mignon with jam sauce and Brussels sprouts and home fries; and Jamaican jerk chicken breast on a bed of rice, mango chunks, and cauliflower. We are somewhat picky and found that both entrees tasted so so so incredible! Fresh, flavorful, juicy, perfectly made! The curbside experience was super fast and efficient. Signage was clear. Parking was ample. Dialed the number on the sign and someone picked up and dropped off our food within a minute. He was also really friendly! Wonderful first-time experience! We will be back and definitely encourage our Airbnb guests to visit as well!

I had a very good visit here last year in September, but I was extremely disappointed today. Had planned to have lunch today, but bailed out after only 1/2 a beer due to ridiculously inattentive service. First step in the wrong direction was when I walked in the door & the girl who was supposed to be the hostess couldn't even be bothered to look up or greet me. I muttered "I'm just going to sit at the bar" which prompted her to say "the bartender will be right with you". She wasn't. She wasn't even behind the bar. No greeting, but eventually in chatting with the girl at the end of the bar on a laptop, who was either a friend of hers or an off duty employee, she said something about water. I couldn't tell if the question was directed at me or the girl on the laptop. I didn't really even answer, but she brought a water & a menu but didn't inquire if I wanted a drink. After 5+ minutes passed I considered just leaving & definitely should have. She & another employee we're clearly much more interested in lap top girl than the other bar customers. She finally asked " do you want anything besides water?" What?? No, I came here simply for the glass of water. Geez (insert eye roll)!! I ordered a beer. But before pouring it, she did a few more things & more chit chatting with laptop girl . After bringing my beer she asked if I wanted food, which although it was my main plan I declined & went elsewhere. If this had been my first visit I'd never return. The vibe from the young staff was clearly that they all preferred to not be working & the interest in laptop girl superseded everyone else at the bar. Considering the Deep Creek Wine Fest was going in it was a good time to make a good impression on new customers, too bad. This was my 3rd visit in 5 years & definitely my worst. Not sure if I'll stop in next time.

This was a great place for brunch on a Sunday. They suggest reservations, so we called ahead. They are doing a good job with pandemic precautions. Our server was Ava, and she was great. I had a veggie omelet, and my friend had eggs Benedict with corned beef (a new variation to me). Their coffee is excellent. I look forward to returning, especially when the start outdoor dining again. They have a nice patio area out back.

Service and ambiance were okay. The food was terrible as we waited an entire hour just for the food to be brought out cold and tasteless.

Had higher hopes for this place, but the food was very salty and not good value. Ambiance and service could use, some work too.

Are dogs allowed on the patio?

Yes, they allowed us to have our large dog on the patio in March 2021. The servers were super dog friendly and brought out a bowl for water. It's always good to call ahead though, just in case all the shaded seating is occupied

Craft beers, nice decor, good food, great staff, good for a group…read more About 12 of us wanted a meal all together in McHenry MD, and we all like craft beer and pizza, so the Mountain State Brewing Co. restaurant was an easy choice. (Jun 2026). It's a large brew pub with a cabin-like décor, out Sang Run Road just north of Deep Creek Lake. There's a little carved bear by the front door, and a kid-size huggable bear at the host stand. Photo ops! And fun for the kids! They seated us quickly and our server was quick in taking beer orders. They have plenty of soft drinks, and we got Lemonade and Apple Juice, Orange Fanta (a favorite), and a pitcher of Mountain State's own creamy MSBC Root Beer - made here! Beer-wise, there were 16 draft crafts plus a couple of old standards to choose from on a paper menu or by looking at their website or QR-code. Most were around 5% ABV. We had Pennsylvania's full-flavored grassy citrusy mildly-bitter Victory Summer Love golden ale. We raided MSBC's just-west-of-here West Virginia brewery of their creamy malty lightly-bitter Miner's Daughter oatmeal stout, and a lightly-bitter caramel Almost Heaven amber ale. New York's Hudson North brewed us some summery sweet Salted Watermelon cider. And we had some from home: Columbia MD's Black Flag Snozzberry Haze: a fruity piney hazy IPA, standing up at 7% ABV. Baltimore's Mobtown Fever Dream, a creamy flavorful somewhat fruity IPA, punching at 7.4% ABV. And Baltimore's Wico Street Yeah Brah, a strongly-bitter double IPA, clobbering us with an 8.5% ABV! A wonderful fermented tour of the northeast! Get ready to say "yum" out loud... From their wide range of bar foods and appetizers, we had fresh crisp tortilla chips with their medium-spicy cream cheese and homemade-ranch baked Buffalo Chicken Dip, elevated with blue cheese on top and an add-on side of chipotle! They made their own fresh-Spinach & Artichoke Dip with fresh basil, roasted red peppers, and an extravagant blend of cream cheese, feta, mozzarella, asiago, parmesan, and cheddar jack. The giant soft crust Pretzels & homemade Beer Cheese were notably popular with the kids. Salads? Yep. Tasty Lemon Herb Chicken Salad, crisp and crunchy Caesar salad, house salad with requested black olives, and cole slaw. And sides of orange segments and raisin-like cranberries for the little ones. And on to the main feast :-). Simple fried chicken nuggets and off-the-menu Pepperoni Pizza to be sure the younger crowd was satisfied. The Boars Nest sandwich was overnight-tender pulled pork with tangy Carolina BBQ sauce and fresh crunchy cole slaw on a lightly-toasted brioche bun. The spicier "wilder" Wild Boar sandwich had that low-and-slow pulled-pork awakened with bright jalapeños and spicy Chipotle BBQ sauce, topped with provolone on that toasted yet pillowy brioche. The fresh Caprese sandwich had firm ripe Roma tomatoes, tender baby spinach, and fresh mozzarella with requested added chicken. It was all dressed with bright basil dressing, drizzled with tangy sweet balsamic glaze, on crisp and soft toasted Italian bread. A well-made classic caprese re-invented by MSBC as a bright crunchy sandwich! Everyone liked those classic crisp pepperoni pies. From their world-class pizza recipes, we had the Supreme: pepperoni, sausage, onions, green peppers, their cheese blend, and black olives, drizzled with fragrant fresh olive oil. And the vegetarian so-tasty-you-wouldn't-guess it-was-gluten-free Yard Sale pizza: marinated artichokes, prosciutto, mozzarella, with an olive oil & garlic base, sprinkled with fresh basil and a dash of freshly-cracked black pepper. Mountain State Brewing Co. gave us a memorable spread of great beers and delicious creative foods. You know we enjoyed leftovers the next day :-) Our terrific server Claire was ever-attentive, and between you and me, made it seem effortless to host our full table of hungry adults and kids. We'll be back, especially for their wide-ranging ever-changing draft list and those amazing pizzas!

We were able to sit out on the patio, have a great local brew and sample some absolutely great food, highlighted by some spectacular pizza.
